Honestly I feel bad for anyone that has had a bad experience at an In n Out. Would I consider myself to be a cult follower? No, definitely not. But what makes it so good and a standout from other fast food joints? The quality, consistency, and overall customer service you get from the employees. Every time we go I get a number 2 (cheeseburger) with animal style fries, and my husband gets a number 3 (regular hamburger) animal style, with well done fries; comes with fountain drink which we mix the lite pink lemonade and sprite. I can tell you every time I've been here, the order is ALWAYS on point! I never think "oh the burger isn't cooked, my fries are soggy" etc etc. we went at 1 PM on a Friday and I think waited maybe 15 minutes. I'm gonna preface this, with I Love, In-N-Out. When I found out they were coming to Boise. I was so excited. I think In-N-Out Burger is the best fast food burger on the market. The wait times have gone down so much since they're opening it's totally reasonable now and if you want expedited service, you can always order inside. So happy to have such an iconic burger joint in the treasure Valley! Oh hot tip order the fries soft and they taste a little bit better. I don't love In-N-Out fries, but the softer the better. First time at the meridian location . It's national holiday today so arriving at noon we should have known it would be busy. It's not like a regular weekday so I shouldn't have been surprised how busy it was. Not enjoyable at all when you'd like to eat in and there are no seats available. The line to order was short. Parking was easy. The amount of people waiting for food was enormous. Outside seating was very limited. It's too bad that In-N-Out didn't plan for more seating outdoors since there is patio space for a few more tables. After ordering they were calling out orders #70 and on in order. We were #3. Fortunately we were waiting long enough for our food that a table opened up. I noticed that there was a lot of turnover with people finishing and leaving as we were waiting. We're from CA so we know In n Out well. We were here on 11/20/24 for our 1st visit. The best part of our experience was that the service was top notch! 10/10! Idaho does service right! Inside and outside are exactly like a typical In n Out. We also only waited about 20 minutes inside for our food and that is very good for In n Out, usually a wait for any In n Out is 20-30 minutes. Where there is a lot of room to improve and I believe they will work it out and get it right: Our Flying Dutchman's were undercooked and over salted. Next time I'll ask for no salt added. To be fair, overly salty patties is common for In n Outs but I'd never had an underdone patty before from an In n Out. We will definitely give it another try! read more

I have had In N Out once before in California, so I was excited to see they opened up a spot in Idaho. The inside is super cute inside with a lot of tables. Every single table was taken! The line to order wasn't too long but it did take a while to be ready because there were tons of customers. I ordered cheese fries and a cheeseburger. My husband ordered animal style fries and a triple cheese burger. The burger was pretty good and tasted fresh. The only reason this is a 4 star is because the fries were good but a little cold. I still liked them a lot. I did eat the burger first so I believe they may have gotten cold because of that. Overall the service was good and the food tasted great. Let me start by saying, I'm from California and have been to many an in n out. I've had friends and family who worked for the company, and it's always been an impressively run operation. With that said, this location is godawful. Inefficiencies for days. I'm sitting in the drive thru now for 40 minutes. 40! I've been in longer lines and gotten through in a quarter of the time. The management at this location needs a talking to. The food is still decent, but not on par with their California counterparts. All this to say, if you need an in n out fix, sure come on by, but you're going to wait an exceptionally long time for a temu in n out experience. read more

Finally got my In-N-Out fix. Saturday morning at 9:45, no line and a handful of people already at tables. It was about 12 minutes before I got my food. Very clean restaurant, but one of the smaller ones I've been in. Wonderful customer service, both at the counter and helping out in the dining area. Employees were offering to get people's orders for them or chatting with a few regulars. Maybe not a typical breakfast spot. But I'd consider it a breakfast of champions! I've waited more than 50 years for In-N-Out to come to Idaho. And for good measure I was part of a group of fans who camped out for more than 21 hours in the cold to be among the first customers at this location. Back in 2020, In-N-Out announced it would open its first Idaho restaurant within five years. And with the opening coming on Dec. 13, 2023 -- the California company's 400th store, they crushed their timeline. Unlike nearly every other burger chain, In-N-Out butchers its own meat and keeps all of its hamburger patties fresh. Their stores do not contain any freezers, ensuring the meat and produce remains fresh. I've now eaten at this restaurant twice and the burgers taste every bit as good here as the numerous locations I've visited in California, Utah and Nevada. Nothing is prepared until you order and it's piping hot when you get served. In-N-Out's menu has changed very little since the company was founded in 1948. They do one thing and they do it very well. The well-known secret menu allows you to customize your burger to the way you want it. I recommend getting your burger animal-style, in which they slather mustard on the patties on the grill, add pickles, an extra dab of their thousand island "spread" and grilled onions. I ask them to add chopped chiles, a whole slice of raw and grilled onions and sometimes cold cheese. Standard is cheese that melts while the patty is cooking. Many people complain about In-N-Out's fries. Personally, I think the standard fries are not cooked enough. I ask for them "light well." That adds about 40 extra seconds in the oil and makes them much better. You can also order fries well done or even light. I love a neapolitan shake, where they combine vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Or ask for a root beer float. On the pop side, I like to combine lemonade and &-up, a lemon-Up. Service is stellar and has been a hallmark of In-N-Out since its founding days. Rule No. 1 is the customer is always right. If there's a problem, Rule No. 2 is consult Rule No. 1. They want to make everything right. So if something is off, let them know. They'll take care of it. With any In-N-Out opening comes long lines. Super long lines. My advice is to get there early, before the lines start forming. Although the stated business hours show a start time of 10:30 a.m., if they're ready they'll open the doors at 10 and you're free to come in and order. Today, on the second day of operation, they opened for business at 9:30 a.m. It's a great company. They pay the highest wages in fast food and offer employee benefits. I walked in on a Sunday around noon, and we were able to finally get some In-N-Out! There was always a long line outside... Today, it took about 15 minutes to get the food, and we were able to find seating outside. Not bad! Anyways, something about my meal didn't taste like the In-N-Out that I knew (comparing it to the Cali and TX locations)... The fries tasted like the usual. However, the animal-style burger was missing something. I'm not sure what it was though. I wasn't the only one who was thinking this. I'm hoping it was just the batch I ate at the time. The day has arrived, and many will say it's sacrilegious to support a large chain coming to a smaller town. I say, bring on the double doubles! My wife grew up in Socal and one of my favorite things when visiting the area was getting my In-N-Out "fix". We arrived around noon and got in the walk-in line. Took only 30 mins to reach the counter and put in our order. Another 30 mins and we had our food. The staff are as always extremely nice and helpful. This was in the opening weeks so they had double staff there training the new local hires. Double Double, whole grilled onion, no lettuce or tomato, just how I like it! Animal style fries on the side and we have a killer meal. Good news, everything tasted exactly like I am used to having in CA. My only nitpick is the beef seemed over seasoned with salt, but again opening weeks and could be the staff still training. The soggy, limp Grade School lunch-line fries were lacking in salt (though the salt-burger I had completely overpowered whatever salt was on the excuse for French fries.) The people were polite, and busy completing tasks in a well-orchestrated dance to get the product out. They have an impressive "system" that I have not seen before. For fans of In-N-Out, I don't get it! I am not a fast-food fan, but as far as burgers are concerned, I can list at least five competitors that make far better food. Idaho's first In-N-Out location has proven that a good business can repeat quality food and great customer service in a new place! This was an uncomfortably busy restaurant when they first opened, but now there are times when you can walk right up and order with no line. Sure, it's 10:30 AM, but it is there for the people who want an early lunch and don't want to wait in line! They are also planning a Nampa and Boise location, which will take some pressure off the Meridian restaurant. I recommend the double-double with whole grilled onions, and animal fries which come with melted cheese, spread, and grilled onions. Their shakes are thick and delicious. You can't beat the price for this quality of food- cheaper than McDonald's and way fresher ingredients. They hand-cut the potatoes on site! And everything is made to order. If you want to dine in, plan to go at off times (early lunch, early dinner, late at night). They run their drive thru line efficiently and you're always moving. read more

The prices were more reasonable than I had expected. I was surprised to see a bible verse on the cup. Apparently, it's as anti-vax & anti-LGBTQ, as Chick-fil-A. Take that as you will. I got the double-double meal and also a single animal-style burger (cooked in mustard and served with grilled onions). The burgers are thin, perhaps why everyone orders a 'double'. The food was well presented, but I wouldn't say anything was outstanding or remarkable. The food wasn't bad at all, but nothing very different from other burger places with bigger menus and shorter wait times. I've been told the food quality is all fresh, nothing frozen, but that doesn't mean the taste will be good. For me, Wendy's also has fresh beef with significantly more flavor and less wait. Am I the most dedicated In-N-Out fan on the planet? No, but I am pretty dedicated and love their burgers. Have I been to all the In-N-Out restaurants in the country? No, but I have probably been to perhaps 50 of them across five of the eight states where they are located. Have I eaten at four different In-N-Out locations in less than a 24 hour period? Yes. San Diego, 2010 Have I ever driven from Boise to Salt Lake City with the primary objective of having lunch at In-N-Out? Yes, but it was in the middle winter, and there was nothing to do that day anyway. Do I take pictures of every Double-Double I order, and text them to my friend Brian with no context or explanation? No, don't be silly. Not every one. I only do that for ALMOST every one. Do I dress in In-N-Out apparel every day? No, but the last time I counted, I did have 29 T-shirts, but since then I have probably retired a couple, and purchased a small handful more. I know I can quit any time I want. Do I display every available In-N-Out sticker prominently on my camping ice chest? Doesn't everyone? Am I the only Yelper who references In-N-Out in the "My Last Meal On Earth" section of my Yelp profile? Perhaps I am, but there must be someone else out there... ...please? I say all this not to attract attention to myself, but more to lay out a context of the moment when I first walked into the Meridian In-N-Out at the village. Ironically, I did not become a fan of In-N-Out until after I moved from California to Idaho back in the very early 1990's. But over time In-N-Out has become an institution of pilgrimage and hamburger rituals for my family and I, and many of our friends. Family visits, vacations, or business trips almost always include a visit to In-N-Out when available. I totally get it that some people don't like or don't get the fervor that some of us have for this fast food chain, and that's ok. I don't really care one way or the other, and I would be writing this same review if In-N-Out had not become such a hugely popular restaurant. I just really enjoy their burgers, fries, their businesses, and the simplicity of how everything comes together. Needless to say, the opening of In-N-Out #400 in Idaho (the first in the state) is a big deal for me. My first Double-Double here in Idaho was (and I am being totally 100% honest here) very much "top-shelf" in terms of its taste and quality. If you spend enough time eating Double-Double's around the country (like me...burp), you start to notice small variations from time to time. In general, this restaurant chain has become exceedingly skilled at offering a consistently good and flavorful burger, pretty much whenever and wherever you visit. Some places have bad days. Some locations seem to not be quite as good as others (I have to say, those first few years of the "Utah In-N-Outs" were frankly not always up to par), but today in Idaho was no such exception. My burger and fries today were on par with the very best In-N-Out meals I have ever had. Nuf said. The service was exceedingly great (a staple of In-N-Out in general), everything was clean (they just opened yesterday), and the general vibe of the staff and clientele was one of celebration and fun! Pro tip: If you spontaneously decide you want to visit a newly opened In-N-Out within it's first 24-48 hours of operation, with no planning, I recommend having a breakfast burger at 9:55am on the second day of operation. Today, parking was a breeze, I had literally zero wait, walked up to the counter, and was enjoying my meal in the dining room within 8 minutes of placing my order. In & Out just gets it right! Price, quality, service! The consistency of the brand in the different states they're in is just amazing. Where do they find all the friendly employees in each locale? They will try to grant any request you have as far as customization of your food, always with a smile! The store is always clean, bathrooms clean and stocked, tables wiped, and floors swept. This newest location is no different. Yes there are busy times, but you get that anywhere. A few of my favorite things about In & Out: they grill the inside of the bun and you get this nice crisp ring around the edge of the bun, the pickles are thick and have the best taste, and I love how you can order french fries cooked to your liking (light or well). This is a basic hamburger joint executed to perfection. Plus, they share bible verses on their paper products. read more

One hour and forty minutes. A spontaneous Friday night decision to go to In N Out. No regrets. We're from California. It was nice having a treat from Cali that I grew up with. Burgers were perfectly fresh. French fries were soft and flavorful, I actually liked these better than the fries in California. Chocolate shake was perfect. Would I wait for 5-6 hours like others did a few weeks ago? Not a chance. And we wouldn't have gotten in line at all except the employee guiding cars into the line said the wait was only 40 minutes. He got us. Once we were in line we weren't getting out. But like I said in the beginning. No regrets. The lines were totally organized and all the staff outside freezing guiding the cars were pleasant and polite. My hubby was a good sport to take us and wait patiently with me. 35 minute wait for a taste of home, but it was worth it. Thankfully, I didn't go during lunch rush-hour, I went shortly after they opened so the wait time wasn't terrible. They even had little space heaters set up for people waiting in line. The merch store just outside The building is a really cute novelty, especially since I have a few in and out collectors in my family. I'm very grateful for the first In-N-Out Burger in Idaho, even if it's in a prime location that could increase traffic, but that's the way the 21st-century is moving forward and it's a fair bargain. I ordered two things of animal fries, and a Neapolitan shake, which I highly recommend if you've never had either. Miguel and Levi were my servers as one of them was being trained at the register. They were both very cheery and upbeat. I always ask service workers if they're being treated well, and they both seem like they've enjoyed their Time since the location opened. I can tell they are going to be treated well. I have some dietary restrictions, so I'm limited to fries and shakes, but I've never had cross contamination in the time I've gone to In-N-Out Burger. I'm very glad to see a piece of home here in Idaho. Having lived in California I'm used to seeing In-N-Out Burger. Occasionally, now I have one just a short driveway and it warms my heart. I know there are Idahoans out there who despise In-N-Out Burger as a symbol of California, but to those people I say Mississippi is always looking for people if you need to get away from the 21st century.
