I just really love going to this place for special events. They make a solid drink the snack of food foods. They often have are pretty tasty too. Some super fun drinks. It's more of an experience than just a bar.

I got to experience the Gatsby 2 years ago during the holidays. I totally recommend coming here during the holiday season! It's so much fun. My friend made reservations last night for her birthday. I knew it was going to be another great time here! My sister and I showed up late. We got to the secret door, gave the special password and got let in. I love the secret book room you are led into. Books from top to bottom. We were given the rules of the venue before we were officially let in. Our party was sitting right in front of the secret door. Walking in, it's hard not to fall in love with this joint. It's dark, romantic and intimate. The girls got their first round of drinks and truffles started. My sister and I checked out the drink menu. I did have to ask our cocktail server for their mocktail list. She listed off a few but I asked her for her recommendation. I believed she would pick out a good one for me. My sister's drink came out in a book. Talk about a neat way to get your drink and such a fun presentation. The drink I got was the same drink I got the last time I was there. It came with a fun bubble on top. It's citrus, tart and yummy. While sipping on our goodies, we were serenaded by two beautiful ladies. The singer was stunning and her voice was the same. The musician did a great job creating music for the singer to sing to. They created a beautiful ambiance for us! I did end the night with a drink from the recommendation from the bartender. I don't remember what it was called but I know it had ginger beer and a delicious topping on it. Both drinks were so good! It was hard not chug these babies down. Even though it don't drink, it was nice to be able to have such fun drinks available for me. It was neat people watching and seeing what kind of drinks they got. Every drink was different. One came in a box, one looked like a lava lamp, another one had a s'more on top. This joint is so creative and different. It just makes your experience here that much more fun. We are making plans to come here for the holiday season. I am looking forward to that! The Gatsby is a great place to kick it at if you're wanting to go out but deal with the club scene. I recommend you experience this place at least once. You'll love it! Can't wait to see all the holiday decor while I'm sipping on another mocktail during the holiday season.

Super fun atmosphere. We love coming here for a drink pre-dinner. The secret door and password are fun and add to the excitement of the venue.

Cocktail that mimic'd an ice cream cone. That's a flavored smoke bubble on top!

Fun entrance and check in with an unmarked door in an alleyway, a password and hidden bookcase door. Dark windowless interior and really gives you that speakeasy feeling. Reservation was for an hour and a half and they do enforce so beware. Cocktail waitress was very fun and put on a show with all of the cocktails. Large selection of drinks that are very creative and tasty. But, beware, NO vodka if that's your poison. All of the drinks were delicious. Very limited snack options but plenty of food options nearby.

My favorite speakeasy in Boise. A truly inventive and unique experience not to be missed! Make sure you call the number for the daily password. If you don't happen to have reservations, you may have a chance to sit at the bar. You can't go wrong with a request to the bartender if you can't make up your mind. I love how cozy and intimate this space is especially with a great date!

My daughter sent me an Instagram reel about Mistletoe Magic late Monday night just as I was about to count the passerby's while sleep people watching at the Le Consulat in Montmartre. Her message to me was, "Book it" so I did. We arrived to the nondescript door and my daughter entered the phone number so I could get the password of the day. With the password of the day embedded in my short term memory, I knocked on the door, what happened next was magical. One of Santa's helpers or a very tall elf magically appeared and asked for the password to which I provided and then confirmed my reservation. The door unlocked and we were in the library surrounded by bookcases filled with books. Savanah, decked to the halls in a green velvety hooded Christmas attire went over the rules with us and then like a scene out of a movie pushed one the books down and the door opened to this winter wonderland that was once Gatsby's Savanah showed us our table and we were presented with the Mistletoe Magic menu of speciality holiday drinks. It felt like Christmas morning as our eyes widened to take in our surroundings. Presents, tinsel, glitter and wrappings were expertly displayed. It was not gaudy or tacky but displayed with care and the overarching theme of Night before Christmas was ever preset. Piper arrived to take our order. She was like sugar and spice and everything nice. My daughter ordered the Pumpkin Jack and I ordered the Bad Santa. While our drinks were being prepared, Savanah in her green velvety hooded outfit whizzed round the winter wonderland dodging sleds, Old Saint Nick, and even grandma on a reindeer. Piper returned with the Pumpkin Jack and Bad Santa. The pumpkin Jack's pumpkin hung on a tree stand and the Bad Santa was encased in a five and dime style tchotchke. Our drinks were phenomenal and crafted with care. Our Santa cookies were delicious. The chocolate ganache with the espresso bean on top was the perfect stocking stuffer. We ordered two more drinks. One was the Brown Butter Rum that caught my daughter's eye has Piper lit it on fire at a nearby table. I decided since I was a 'Bad Santa' I might as well, 'Go down the Chimney' About ten or so mins later, Piper returned with her magical fire stick and burnt the brown sugar and cinnamon on top of the Funko Mug of Jack Skeleton of the Brown Butter Rum. My Down the Chimney was in a moose head with antlers. The antlers acted as the handles. Not to be forgotten was the warmed cookie that came with Down the Chimney. My daughter did her best impression of Saint Nick by the fireplace and ate the cookie within a couple of bites. The Mistletoe Magic at Gatsby should not be missed. It was an amazing experience and Savanah and Piper welcomed us in their Elf Chalet with such care that we didn't want to leave. Tip 1: Make Reservations and days and times may already be booked Tip 2: Be on time and know the password Tip 3: Follow the rules as outlined by Savanah Do be nice but don't be naughty.

Love, love the experience here at the Gatsby! I recommend booking a reservation in advanced since they do get busy fast, especially on the weekends. The service was fantastic! The presentation of the drinks are creative and unique. My group and I had a fun time trying out each other's drinks! Definitely recommend checking this place out.

We had a great evening at Gatsby's. The experience begins before you enter with a knock on the door and having the correct password. We started with the Garrison room where Kaylee tought us a lot about Prohibition while tasting some excellent liquor. Afterwards we enjoyed a couple expertly crafted coctails. It is a fun, cozy environment.

Great speakeasy. Legit entrance door with the daily code. The drinks are unique, a lot of depth in variety. Including several versions of the 'Old Fashioned'. I had the Figgly Wiiggly, also, pictured here; Woodford reserve, fig syrup and hibiscus. Very smooth, layers of flavor, and five star presentation. Staff is friendly, clean atmosphere, appropriate music, no hat policy (except for 1920's style), overall, I'll be back and five stars. Update: I ordered another drink. See video. The 'Josephine Baker' is a tequila old fashioned style, from the Oaxaca are of Mexico, (roughly pronounced 'wuh-hawk-in'). The smoke pays tribute to Josephine's performances. Often appearing in clouds of smoke on stage. The flavor, with tequila, mezcal, chocolate bitters, agave, and smoke, make the flavor complex and explode in the mouth with smooth notes of the above. Excellent presentation, tremendous flavor. Very good!

Little secret not so secret speakeasy . Hidden in the freak alley you must have the password to get in . Fun and unique bar with amazing drinks and good recommendations for anyone looking for something in specific! They do have a dress code and rules so read before going ! Overall we had a fun and enjoyable experience! Our server was the sweetest girl and was very helpful !

Service is top notch. You gotta love the ambiance of how it takes you back in time from the cold secret room to the library. They served great whisky collection and i was so lucky to get to try Pappy. Definitely a great place to back to.

I walked in, not sure what to get. The bartender asked me what flavors I like. She went away and made me this epic cocktail. She told me all the things she added, and it was clear, these bartenders are the real deal. They know their stuff. I drank my delightful cocktail way too fast. But it was so damn good. The vibe is fun. They bartenders interact with everyone and do all kinds of cool things with cool ingredients and tell you about it all. Perfect spot for a loungey date night, or a meet up with a friend. There is no food. But plenty of spots on 8th in walking distance. This is probably one of the best cocktail bars I've ever been to. ... and I've been to a lot. :)

Like this bar changed my whole perspective on the whole state of Idaho being a California transplant, which doesn't hold that much weight with other people in Idaho, but I don't care. I will always come here anytime I come downtown and I will always overtip because the likes of Ruby and Darien never disappoint, including the regulars, whom are also always nice. For every overrated cactus bar with the worst service, there is the mode lounge which sets the standard for everything in Boise.

My husband and I really wanted to like this place! The setting is wonderful and the ambience is…read morereally nice. We had breakfast there this morning and it was just OK. We both got the traditional eggs Benedict... and I ate maybe 15% of my breakfast and just stopped. My husband ate all of his... but mostly because he was just hungry... Much like our Labrador who will eat absolutely anything! Haha. But he said it was only OK. He rated it a 5/10. What he disliked the most was the potatoes. They were fairly hard/tough and tasted like they were fried in old oil and sitting under heat lamps for two hours before we got them. They were very dehydrated as well. For me... The hollandaise sauce was fresh, but had no flavor. It needed more lemon or salt or something. The ham was odd... I'm a little too salty. It seemed like Hillshire Farms sliced ham. Not something you would expect at a nice restaurant in your eggs Benedict. Also, I ordered an Arnold Palmer... And it was so sour that I had to send it back. I poured like a heaping teaspoon of sugar into it, and it didn't even make a difference.... It was that sour. It actually started to make my stomach hurt a little. So I sent it back. And the waitress was very nice, and didn't charge me for it. The service was good... But they cram everyone in there on one side of the restaurant... at least outside. I have no idea why... They have all this space in front of their restaurant and yet they try and cram everybody right next to each other. It was very annoying, and made me just wanna leave. They have many tables on the other side like 10 feet away... But they insisted on cramming everybody into the same small area. And you could tell nobody wanted to be that close to one another. I'm not sure if they do this to make it easier for their servers... Or to make the restaurant look busy. Either way, it's a practice that they really should stop. My advice to the restaurant... Utilize your space outside in front, stop cramming people so close together. When you have to get up and move your chair so someone can get to their table... it's ridiculous! On a positive note... Their coffee was actually really good! Some of the best that we've had in a restaurant in many many years. And I know, I mentioned it above, but I should mention it again... The weight staff was wonderful. From the girl who greeted us at the front podium, to our waitress, and the waitressing training. Everyone was wonderful. So, to end this review... I can only comment on the breakfast. We didn't have anything else there, and maybe it will be good... But I'm not sure if I'm willing to give this place another try. Good luck!
