Was recommended this place and everything went well. Service was immaculate, the drink I had was just as immaculate. The people were nice and it's conveniently located downtown in the middle of everything. As a recent transplant to the area, definitely gonna add this one to the rotation. It was a terrible experience. I've never felt more uncomfortable in a bar; it was truly strange. I did not feel welcome.

We've randomly ended up at the atlas the past two times we've been to Boise. Somehow bar hopping always leads us here. It's a dive bar - one of my favorite things. They have no food, but they pour a strong drink and typically have good people watching for such a small joint. It's not especially clean, has a weird cage thing in the middle and the tables are a little to high. So basically, it's everything you can ask for in a true dive bar. read more

I came here on a Saturday night at around 11pm as my nightcap. I thought the vibe was interesting because it's not a big place so it can be intimate and cozy but during my time at the bar it was very loud, busy, and there was always someone ordering shots or multiple drinks at the bar. I wasn't looking for shots myself as I was more interested in their cocktails. My first drink was their strawberry fields which was a very summer-y and refreshing cocktail that was easy to drink. My second drink was the F&B which was like an old fashioned but with an added spritz of fernet on top. Like an old fashioned this drink was very spirit forward. The menu on their wall does not have prices listed on them but for the two cocktails that I ordered the total was $18.50. That means on average each drink was $9.25 which is such an amazing deal given the prices at other bars in downtown Boise. During their busy times there is not much standing space inside and there are tons of people hanging out outside. If you're looking for something quieter and more relaxed I'd recommend coming earlier in the day. read more

This is a very very small bar, so it's not the best place for a big group to come. We had a group of 4 and luckily got a table but anything over that probably would work. Besides the small space they have a great staff who are very friendly and obviously very good cocktails. The strawberry fields was the perfect summery cocktail and was so refreshing. A cocktail bar? A utility bar? A craft cocktail bar? What's the difference and how does Atlas Bar fit in? After multiple visits I believe I can answer this question. If you're looking for a craft cocktail.... Look elsewhere. The liquor selection is very limited. The bartender knowledge is very limited and the inspiration is very limited. The price? Well, they believe they command craft cocktail prices. My experience could be summed up in my last visit. Me: can I get a Last Word? Bartender: What's that? Me: Gin, Luxardo, Green Chartreuse... Bartender interrupts: we don't have those things Me: Then I'll take a cognac old fashioned Bartender: We don't have that, the menu is up there sir! Not only does the bar staff lack knowledge of classic cocktails, they don't carry any more inventory than your classic utility bar you'd find in any neighborhood setting. The lack of interest in cocktail making, the random music (bartenders favorite songs) and general disinterest of the bartenders puts this bar squarely in the utility bar category.... But that's not what they're pretending to be. They command high prices and push the craft cocktail atmosphere. In my opinion, you'd be better served at other bars in town. For Craft cocktails, visit The Mode, The Modern Hotel, Owyhee, Red Feather, Press and Pony or one of the city's prohibition bars. For Utility bars, try Pengillys, Amsterdam, Hannah's. But my suggestion is to limit yourself to being disappointed in this place only once. It doesn't get better the more you visit. read more

I really liked this bar. it's SMALL, so I would probably say don't try to go in there when it's super busy. we came on a saturday around 7 and it was nice. they have 1 bartender and a cool cocktail menu. I got the "side piece" which was a tequila cocktail and it was phenomenal! the bartender was super friendly and accommodating to us the whole time. we really enjoyed our time spent in here, it was fun! if you're looking for a low key bar downtown with good drinks, I suggest checking this one out. We dropped in for a night cap after treating the in-laws to dinner around the corner. I found The Atlas Bar on yelp and was hoping for a laid back type of ambiance but when we walked in the music was blaring with some heavy metal jams. . . although the cocktails were great and the service was wonderful. . .the music didn't quite match the vibes the bar and the decor gives off. Note that we arrived around 730 as the sun was setting gorgeously. . . we sat in the elevated back area and enjoyed our one round and moved on to a bottle of wine across the street. Maybe on the next visit to Boise, we will give it another try. read more

This dark and mysterious bar is one of the best kept secrets in town. It is full of dark, unique character. High ceilings, tight space, good drinks. I agree with most the comments about groups. This is a small bar. Don't expect to be all group gathered if you have more than 3. There are two sets of tables on the left as you enter that will fit 4 people but every time I have been, they are full. This bar is not accessible. All tables/bar are high, stairs to the bathroom. Patio is a nice addition but it is usually filled with smokers or smokers nearby. It would be slightly better if smokers had to be farther from the door. I solve this by sitting inside in the unique atmosphere! read more

Aly (bartender) was AMAZING to us. She seriously deserves a high-five and a raise. She made me a spicy lil cocktail with some jalepeno in it. Then we added green olives, and then we added their special cocktail cherries...and I pretty much had the most amazing drink EVER! So, PRICING UPDATE: Our 2 drinks came to $12 this time!!!! We are visiting Boise and found everyone to be very friendly and great customer service EXCEPT HERE! Sad, I saw the bar and it looked right up our alley, walked in and sat down, nice clean uptown bar, looked over the drink menu and walked up after we decided what we wanted, the Bartender who didn't say Hi or make any eye contact was making drinks, I kindly asked if I order here, she said very rudely, ""Ummm yeah, I AM the only one working and this IS a bar! What is it I can get you?" I kindly said "Nothing" and we walked out. How about a simple hi how can I help you and do the customer service job you signed up for. I bartended for years, it's all about customer service and realizing that your customers are what pays you in the end. What a fun little place - when you think of a hole in the wall, this is the place to go. They have good cocktails & a fun vibe. It is very intimate. I have only gone there for after work or before dinner drinks and it has not been particularly busy during those times. Stopped by to Check out this new location with a pretty good size group. Upon entering, we realized this is not a location meant for a large group. There are a few tables that can seat 3-4 comfortably. Up a few stairs and towards the restrooms, there was a more casual spot which might seat a few more than 4. The bar was the main attraction in this establishment and can seat around 10. There is also a place for a few outdoor tables that could also seat a few. We opted for inside as it was raining. We decided to split the group and take a table while the rest pulled up a seat at the bar. Drinks were good, a full bar with a few beers on tap. Service was good and prompt. This is a good place to check out with a small group. The vibe changes quickly as people come and go-which I thought was fun. read more

Well.. we came here in between dinner and the next stop with high hopes for a great cocktail. The smell is very odd. At first I wasn't sure if it was who I was sitting next to, the bar mats, or the entire space. It's the space. After waiting a good ten minutes for anyone to acknowledge us, the bartender was extremely short and unhelpful. I appreciate the fact there are not tons of printed menus laying around, however due to the bar being long and slim, not everyone can read the ONE drink board. When asking about a recommendation, I was promptly told to go read the board. Awkward AF standing at someone's table to get close enough to even read in a dark crowded bar. Anywho. After all that, decided to go with an Old Fashioned. So much bitters, it was completely unpalatable. It's a rare day that I will leave an unfinished drink, and this was that day. I had high hopes for this place & maybe I will give it another try at some point. The layout makes it feel fairly crowded when busy with people. The worst part of my visit was the smell- it was awful. I asked a couple ladies who seemed like regulars about the smell & was told it has always smelled like that & it is most likely their "new wood smell" but I didn't get that from the smell- it was really rough & I just couldn't shake it, I was very ready to get out of there & breath.
