It's to save anyone from a similar very negative experience for a restaurant clearly not interested in such an insane violation of trust.

And with the view by the patio, how can it not be the most perfect setting to enjoy my birthday dinner. We just stuck with water since it was on the warmer side today. We just went straight in for dinner. As much as the appetizers sounded lovely, I was ready for the main event. So for dinner tonight I ordered the charboiled salmon with seasonal veggies in place of the salad. My salmon was plated beautifully with nice char marks on it. The veggies were a variety of squash and were sautéed nicely. And you can tell visually that they were seasoned nicely with spices and herbs. I dug right into my salmon. My first couple bites were delicious. I did spread some of the sun dried tomato butter on my salmon. The butter was fantastic! It added a nice flavor element to the salmon. After I ate about a a fourth of my salmon, I noticed that it was not cooked all the way through in the middle. With my new kidney, I can't have rare or undercooked fish. My immune system can't handle a parasite if the fish were to potentially contain any. I shouldn't have assumed that it was going to be cooked all the way since our server didn't ask how well I wanted it cooked. I did have to send it back and have another one remade. While my new fish was being prepared, my server gave me a small salad plate to transfer my veggies to. I got to work on them so I wasn't staring at my family eat. The veggies were cooked perfectly. They weren't overly soft or still raw. It had a nice bite to them while still being tender. Unfortunately, they were overly seasoned and was on the saltier side. I was hungry so I polished them off. But I did have to drink a good amount of water to help with the saltiness. Thank goodness the portion was on the daintier side. As hungry as I was, it would have been bad if it was a bigger portion. All that salt would not be good on my new kidney. My second round of salmon came out. Was it as pretty as my first plate, no but it will do. I'm sure they set the flame on high, let it sit on the grill for a while and then flipped it to cook the other side. I have cooked salmon well done plenty of times and have it come out tender. When you cook for a living, having cooking times for your dishes should be down to a science in your kitchen. Unfortunately, the salmon was super dry and flavorless. As hungry as I was, I ate it. The butter did help with the dryness of the salmon. But I shouldn't have to rely on butter to make the dish edible. For my birthday, I got a free dessert. I chose the gluten free carrot cake. My cousin eats a gluten free diet so I thought this cake would be perfect for all of us. I enjoyed the cake very much! The cake was moist. The spices in the cake were fragrant and very noticeable in each bite. I loved the frosting on the cake. Since the cake wasn't overly sweet, the frosting added a nice sweetness to it. I enjoyed the cake very much! Our server did a mid job. There were times when she would be gone for long periods of time and we had to wait for her. The patio was perfect with its stunning view. Dinner was ok but dessert was fabulous. Overall it was a decent experience. I do look forward to coming back and enjoying the outdoor patio with my husband for a date night. I just know now to make sure I vocalize everything to my server so I don't end up with dry salmon again. I do want to come back and have a better experience.

Used to be Orville Jackson Drugstore in an old building in downtown Eagle with some "olden days" history. New owners did a bit of sprucing up inside the huge space and reopened it (maybe May 2023) as what amounts to a drinking parlor maintaining the "old time Eagle" theme. Full bar, several beers on tap, wine. All kinds of seating, high and low, throughout the space. A good thing. A pool table. Also good thing. A couple of tables outside with sidewalk seating too. EATS: No food, although they have plans for a kitchen it seems installing one is a long way off, but you can bring in your own. If you want to bring in, Bodacious Pig BBQ is next door and they have great food which can be ordered to go. Another idea, if you're planning on imbibing at Old State prior to 4pm, a FANtastic sandwich place, Tasso (open 11a - 4p), is just a couple of blocks away to pick up a sandwich to take to Old State and eat it there with a glass of something from the bar. ENTERTAINMENT: They host musical performers in the saloon from time to time. On Saturdays when Eagle has their Farmer's Market (which is more prepared goods and crafts than farmers) a couple of blocks down, Old State has live music out on the sidewalk here. I assume they are pouring booze then too but not sure. TWO BITS: We were in just once so far. Might to back. But in different strokes for different folks, to sit in a bar, big or small, and drink was never our thing in young'un days and now that we are more, ummm...well seasoned it is particularly true that we'd like a nice small plate at minimum or even a light meal to go along with the glass of vino or cocktail with one and done for the libations being our MO. We will want to see where this goes but in general a huge place set up in downtown Eagle designed for drinks / wine / beer only that might encourage excess imbibing, in a town that already has a LOT of places to do that along with food, doesn't seem like a great concept in such a small community. But, we'll see. ACCESSIBILITY: Level in the door. Lots of open floor space. Lots of standard height seating at tables. All good. Didn't check the loo. PARKING: On street in Eagle can be hard to come by at busy times of day. A lot alongside Old State belongs to them I think to use that. DO NOT use the Bodacious Pig lot next door...that is their property for their restaurant's customers. read more

WOW, what an awesome upgrade this place has gone through recently! I had a great cocktail that was elevated with a unique spin on a blood orange margarita and I love love love that the offerings of beer, wine, liquors, snacks, are all sourced locally or from small-batch farms. I was told they don't even allow artificial flavors/colors or high-fructose corn syrup in the building, and even their sodas/mixers are cane sugar! I can not WAIT until the kitchen is built because there are simply not enough restaurants in Eagle with that kind of focus and I am in desperate need of a locally-grown and naturally-fed steak. I noticed they have a lot of activities on the schedule of events listed which is fun. I like the occasional craft nights and game nights like trivia, and my husband has been hitting up the open mic nights which are actually full of really great local musicians (anyone know the name of that guy we've seen in a few times that WHALE on the drums? His arms are so fast you can't even see them.) The service is pretty great although sometimes they get slammed. I heard they are hiring so that should get better soon. All in all, it's hard to believe that they just opened a few months ago considering everything they have going on so I am excited to see more develop, especially the restaurant! EDIT: Okay now they are open early each morning and have the best latte in town, hands down. I noticed there are more pastries and things to eat and they said they were approved for the food permit last week and will be ramping up the food options!
