Going back to Marie Callender's after so many years brings back good childhood memories. The taste of that delicious flaky crust chicken pot pie is something you don't easily forget and I love that they brew paradise passionfruit iced tea. So delicious! The servers are all very friendly so it's always a pleasant experience dining here. I do wish they would bring back the old restaurant format. These express places feel a little cold and impersonal. My wife and I were so happy to find out that Marie Callender still have locations in operation. We have been going to their restaurants since we got married, 40 years ago. I thought that they had gone out of business because they closed so many restaurants. We found the food to be just as enjoyable as we remembered it, and I was so happy to be able to get a piece of their coconut cream pie, my favorite. We found the weight staff to be so extremely friendly and eager to take care of us. We had a very enjoyable meal. I had the chicken pot pie, of course, and my wife had the potato soup salad in quiche. I had noticed the fish and chips that one of the other diners had ordered and it looked absolutely marvelous, that will be on my list for the next visit. read more

Exceeded my expectations! I ordered the french dip sandwich with sweet potato fries! So good! Not overly salted, which is great (i am a salt freak so i added salt). My friend had the tuna melt & it looked fabulous. It had a cheese toast bread, bacon & avocado! She loved it & it made my mouth water. The cornbread was delicious, the Frisco Burger my husband ordered was awesome (cheesey crust was so good), I had the Turkey Croissant which was fresh and good. Visiting Boise for the week, I was so surprised and excited to see a Marie Callendar's, so obviously we had to go! The interior is different than a traditional location; the set up is more like a french cafe where you will either get seated for dine-in or order at the counter for takeout. Once seated, our orders were taken right away. I ordered the Pot Pie Trio, which included a mini pot pie, side caesar and a slice of pie for $15. I do wish the caesar had a little more dressing on it but the pot pie and pumpkin pie were so delicious that I was too focused to even care. They brought everyone at our table cornbread and butter, a great way to start our lunch. The visit was everything I wanted and more! read more

Service was fine. Very sweet girl but slow. The bummer was both the chicken salad and grilled cheese. For $15-$18 salads/sandwiches, I would expect them to be decent size and high quality. The chicken was very small and I could hardly chew it. It tasted like microwave chicken. The cheese they used had to be the individual packaged American. Haven't had it since I was a kid it was not good. My 6 year old makes better grilled cheese. Overall the food was rough at best. We did buy pies here a few weeks ago and those were great. When it first opened a couple of years ago I bought two individual pieces of razelberry pie, they were terrible. Since two years or so has passed and they are still in business I thought for sure things had changed so I ordered a whole pumpkin pie to take to a friends house for desert. One bite confirmed that whatever they are doing there isn't even close to meeting my lowest expectations, I'm sorry but that was the worst pumpkin pie ever and I have spent my last dollar there. read more

I miss the old Marie Callendar's restaurants. Went there all the time as a kid. This one is tiny, but I'm glad it's back in some capacity. I've never had poor service--a little slow at times, but I think that's just a byproduct of younger waitstaff who seem a little nervous. The potato cheese soup is just like I remember :) I get its a limited format but I wish they had more to choose from. My only complaint is that it never appears open and from the street you can see racking and storage through the window which makes it seem like it was shut down. Zero advertising I ever see, so it is easy to forget it's there. Otherwise it's clean and quiet, but not the homey feel of the old chain restaurants. Definitely more modern. I haven't had a poor pie experience, but pies are sent from corporate I'd imagine, and complaining about a mass pie order for holidays on the restaurant page just affected their reviews unfairly. There was literally a trailer set in the parking lot all holiday season where you picked up your preordered pie. It is fair to complain if they were crappy, but complain to HQ. read more

Such a disappointment! I ordered 2 pies for Thanksgiving this year and both were poorly made. French Apple was gooey/mushy and more filling than apples. The Razzelberry pie crust was so hard, the bottom and sides stuck to the pan and fell apart when trying to take it out. Unfortunately, was unable to serve the pies to our guests, as they were a mess when trying to get them out of the pie pan/tin. I have ordered these pies in the past and have always been delicious, so really disappointing. I tried calling the store in the morning up to when they closed on Friday, 11/29 and pressed 1 to leave a voicemail and their voicemail inbox is full. Two young girls provided great service and with a smile! Tomato soup and potato cheese soup were perfect! Burger and tuna melt were yummy, enough to take half home! Corn bread is always a winner too! Marie Callenders is my Favorite Restaurant in Ada County. The Meals Are So Wonderful and I like their pies and coffee. I can eat the tuna melt with pickles every day. Staff is awesome. Highly Recommend. Try it for yourself and see. Been there for a couple months trying everything on the menu. I have a picture of my dog because he would like to eat there, but doesn't get. read more

I really like the idea of Marie Calendar's resurrected as a fast-casual restaurant with favorites from the old menu. We ate there with some friends today and found that the food was the same processed salty food from before the bankruptcy. Also, the atmosphere was too loud. My quiche was re-heated in the microwave and the hash browns were warmed over and very salty. My wife's food was mediocre as well. All of the food was simply highly processed factory food; nothing fresh. If they took these old favorites and turned them into fresh, non-factory-processed items, they would have a winning concept. Absolutely horrible. The environment is cold and uninviting with school cafeteria like vibes. Not like any other Marie Calendars or at least how they use to be. The food was inedible. Basically microwaved tv dinners. The chocolate crème pie had the strangest texture, like gelatin. It was bouncy. Everything is over salted. Pretty sure they just pour about a cup of salt in every dish, freeze it, and ship it out to all the chains to then microwave and serve. Airplane food might even be better. My grandmother was up sick all night from the sad excuse of a Quiche. Just terrible. Will never return. The staff were nice young kids, not to blame for this experience at all. Went here for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. This place just opened and only had 1 star reviews but we had a great experience. The food was delicious, the staff was kind and helpful and the place was clean and comfortable. The turkey sandwich had real turkey slices, not a processed version of turkey. The Marie Calendars cornbread that came with the meal brought back I great memories from going with my family as a kid. It was as good as ever and our kids loved it. My husband had a burger, and I got their signature chicken pot pie. It was plenty of food, and piping hot, but pretty unremarkable (We paid $45 for our meals 2 plus drinks, not including pie). We did go back for pie. The $6 slice of pie was puny....and should be an embarrassment for this restaurant. I would've expected 1/4 of a pie for that price! The key lime flavor was good, but not amazing, and the dutch apple was covered in 1/2" of brown sugar...not very appealing. My husband was not very pleased with the cafeteria-like atmosphere. It's cold appearing, although clean, and very, very noisy. The staff were helpful and very friendly, a definite PLUS!!! We left work early today, excited to try Marie Calendars in Meridian, ID for dinner. We had to arrive early since the posted hours are 11AM-7PM, but the manager/owner chooses to close at 6PM on a regular basis. Upon arrival, we ordered 2 chicken pot pie trios and a turkey club. Only 1 of the two chicken pot pies has a small piece of chicken in it and the other never had chicken. REALLY?!?!?! No chicken in the CHICKEN POT PIES!!! The trios only came with a Caesar salad and no other dressing choices. We had to ask for the corn bread, which when arrived at the table, was only 3 small cubes (2"x2") of corn bread not a large slice like Marie Calendars is known for. The turkey club was mostly all lettuce with a sliver of tomato and 1 piece of turkey! Beyond disappointing to say the least. We each ordered a slice of pie, Chocolate Cream, Lemon Meringue and Key Lime. ALL 3 SLICES OF PIES WERE OLD!!! The chocolate cream was cracked and falling apart. The lemon meringue was dull, and the meringue was shrinking and old. The key lime was old as well and the whipped cream crumbled and tasted horrible. WHAT HAPPENED TO MARIE CALENDARS???
