Update: Even before we actually moved to the Treasure Valley, we have been coming to The Tavern. We have been here now for nearly two years, and we came here today, Friday, for an early dinner. It was not crowded, and we were seated right away. For some reason, we were seated in a corner booth near the bathrooms, while other customers were seated elsewhere in the restaurant. We didn't mind, however, because it was nice and quiet. And, for me, convenient. My wife had the Sirloin Salad, and I had the Ahi Poke Salad. My wife said that her meat was cooked the way she likes it, and the rest of the ingredients were delicious. For me, the ahi, sesame vinaigrette dressing, wonton strips, onions, and greens were very good. The food is always good at The Tavern. And, the prices are reasonable. Unlike our past experiences, the service this time around was not up to our usual. Our server, Hannah C., seemed in a rush and impatient. Though she told us to ask her if we had questions, I didn't find her responses to be pleasant. The first dish my wife was interested in had Boursin cheese. My wife had not heard of it, and she cannot eat a lot of cheese. She preferred something milder, like mozarella. When she inquired of Hannah, the reply was terse. "We don't have mozarella." "Do you have another milder cheese?" "Like what?" Not in a nice way, and not professional, in my opinion. And, she was loud. We waited longer than usual for our food, and when Hannah brought it, she just dropped the plates and split. To her credit, she did check in on us once during our meal. Now I don't know what kind of day Hannah was having. Maybe not so good. I don't know what kind of person she is, and I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she is a nice woman. Hopefully she is not like how she was with us to all of her customers. I'm a 20% tipper. For her, it was 18%. I wasn't given a choice, but I would have gone down to 15%. read more

After my last visit (previously reviewed), I haven't been back. My husband wanted to take me somewhere "nicer" and took me to Tavern. I was a little apprehensive, which unfortunately, my apprehension was warranted. We arrived around 5:45pm on a Thursday night and were asked if we could wait for 20 minutes. We sat and waited...and waited...and 2 other couples came in and were offered bar or outside seating instead of waiting (seriously?!?! We weren't given those options). One took the outside seating, the other opted to wait as well. We watched at least 6+ parties leaving, but we continued to wait. After 35 minutes, we were finally seated....and there were several empty booths around us. It took almost 10 minutes before our server arrived, so we had our orders ready. Drinks came about 10 minutes after ordering. Dinner came out at 7:15 pm. We had no idea this experience would be this long. Food looked great, but after one bite into my Cajun chicken club, I was really disappointed. The chicken was stringy-dry (at least my jaw got a workout) and the buns were borderline burnt instead of toasted. All the other ingredients (bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese) were fresh and thankfully, enabled me to eat most of the sandwich. We rarely saw our server and both me and my husband ran out of drinks (we even finished off both waters) before she showed up for a refill. We didn't leave there until almost 8pm. Server was very nice, but the pace was a tad too slow...to the point of being absent. Hubby enjoyed his Tavern burger. read more

What would I improve? The way the owner responds to somebody who had an awful experience after being a patron many times and recommending and high reviews to have a terrible experience that completely just gets ignored is unfathomable. Thank you, Christie for reaching out and agreeing that we had a terrible experience and what they could've done better and not offering one concession for the miserable night we waited so long to have!! How you can say that good customer service is beyond able to be. Don't worry we won't be back. Also won't be ever recommending this as a good experience in case somebody else be subjected to what we were that night by your staff! Still doing well. Busy restaurant with good service. Cocktail menu is great and a good wine list. Satay appetizer was ok. I like my satay more well done than this. Peanut sauce was delicious. Clam/Oyster app was excellent and the broth was spot on. Everyone liked their entree. Salmon was the highlight. One of our go-to places. read more

I have been here twice recently - once on a Saturday afternoon and once on Saturday evening around 7ish. I really like the ambiance of this restaurant as well as the food. Both items I have had - club sandwich and bbq burger have been fantastic. Great quality and taste is excellent. The only thing stopping me from giving this establishment is the service. Service is super friendly, but it's slow. On both occasions, service has been super slow. Takes awhile to get greeted, have drinks served, for food. Again, everything is great it's just slow. It won't stop me from returning, just worth a mention. read more

After watching my wife trying to saw through her 8 Oz filet, I had questions but remained quiet until after she strained through her first bite. I had her saw off me a piece to taste because I was aghast at how difficult a time she had chewing this charred piece of meat. Not tender, just chewy. She ordered medium well, which is never an issue at other steak restaurants as far as quality of the cut and cooking method used. Of course the manager wanted to make it right by cooking another steak, but I wondered how that would turn out being cooked with the same cut of meat by the same cooks and waiter who had already delivered the charred steak already to us. We left paying full price for the meal as I didn't want them to think we were there for a comped steak. We won't be back as it was clear there is no quality control in this restaurant. Meals like this have no excuse for improper cooking or being passed along by the cooks and wait person. read more

My wife and I go here often and we really like the atmosphere and the service. But our favorite is the food selections. It's not a huge menu, but they nail it every time. Our favorites are the Ahi tuna salad, and the pot roast nachos. The prices are fair and one of my wife's favorite drinks is the Escalade. You gotta try it. I love all the food I get at the Tavern at Eagle Island. I recently got the stir fry with salmon. It was so good, fairly healthy (other than the sugar in the sauce) and I would order it again. The Teriyaki sauce is really good that's on it. You can get it with salmon or chicken and I think shrimp. read more

Great location, always greeted by beautiful young hostess. Atmosphere good seating mostly booths and good bar seating. Good selection menu and food is so delicious with great portions. Waitress very young but very good, calm voice, very happy and smiles a lot. She was very attentive to our table, checked in and cleaned off our table to allow us to talk and finish our drinks. What I look in a Resturant, quality of food, service, was the server attentive and did they check in our take periodically. All these requirements were full-filled. read more

Went to this place on the same trip as Sockeye. The place was okay. Ther service was a little slow although it was a busy Friday night, so I don't blame them. I got the chicken strips and the butter cake. The butter cake was great, the fries were good, although I was kind of mixed on the chicken strips. I don't know how I feel on returning. read more

The bar is a happening place to be with regulars entertaining their usual bartenders and vice versa. It's a nice restaurant in a strip mall that has something for everyone. It's a bit pricey, but what isn't these days?! They have solid food with seasonal menu changes. Their desserts can't be homemade because I tried the cheesecake and it was still frozen in the center. I've also had the habit which was a special and I wasn't so fond of the sweet glaze that was on it. It took away from the savoriness of the fish and the accompanying sides. This was our first time here and we will be back. The food was delicious and service was perfect. They have some great recipes on some old traditional items. Steamed Clams with a little ground chili flakes, a great flare, Calamari with Kung Pao sauce was amazing. Salads were huge. Our waitress was knowledgeable and very friendly. Very clean place with a fun Ambiance. It was my wife's birthday and she had a huckleberry Mojito and she said it was one of the best Cocktails she's ever had. Food is nice portions. Absolutely delicious! We've tried several things. Service is excellent! Ambiance? Depends where they seat you! Last week we were taken to a booth next to the bar! It was quite loud as the bar was full and some man stood at our table with his butt up against our table! Kinda rude. Not so great ambiance! The other sides nice though! Went to the bar at 3:00pm, another couple at the end, and me. Asked the bartender what kind of soup was on the menu for the day. He said that he'd be right back and went to the kitchen. When he returned, he told me salmon chowder, and I said it sounded ecky. He said in an angry tone,"Well, you can go somewhere else." I asked if he was having a bad day. and he became angrier. I then said calm down, and can I get a drink. He took my order and left again for the back/kitchen. I felt uncomfortable and didn't want to eat there anymore and left. As I was going to my car the bartender (I couldn't get his name from the hostess, he was tall, skinny, bald and hunched) came out and I thought he was going to apologize but he raised an empty glass above his head like he was going to hit me with it and said, "You've wasted this drink. You're 86 from the place 86!" I am a 75-year-old disabled person and felt threatened and bullied so I went back to my car and locked the doors. The food is pretty good there and had eaten there a few times. Never going back and thinking of making a police report on this guy. read more

Wow, we loved this place. Great atmosphere, no bright lights or loud music. Seated quickly at a comfortable booth. Server arrived soon after, not super friendly, no smile just all business. Never checked to see how the food was once served our meals. Split a full size Ceasar salad as a starter. It was very good, slight bit too much dressing but still good. I had a Fried chicken sandwich with the Au gratin potatoes which was delicious. Very flavorful and not overcooked. Husband had the bleu cheese burger with fresh veggies which he really enjoyed. We also had 2 martini's which again were very good. Aside from the not so friendly server we enjoyed this place a lot. Will go back for sure. read more

Eagle Tavern. I have avoided doing a review as i though I had already, anyway, I have been here many times now and can give a better one now. First up parking. This place is popular. Especially with the well heeled people of Eagle. So, parking is a bit tight. Go early to avoid parking issues, and you get better prices for the happy hour (to 6), and to get your name in. Yes, NO RESERVATIONS for 2 or 4 people. They also cater to some higher end plates, steaks, fish, and some nice specials. It's really busy people. So, grab a 5th person, like anyone off the street, to make a reservation, because it's really terrible to sit in the entry area and wait for 45 minutes to get a table. It's 2023 people, Open Table! The drinks: Can you say craft cocktails? I can, and I found it means drinks you mostly know, with fancy names, and high prices. I will say they do a good pour, so you will not feel completely ripped off. And they have very nice glassware. Mostly booths inside for a nice private meal in this small venue. That's nice. The waiters and bartenders are great. At least the dozen times I have been here. We have had the same ones several times. Most are quite open, chatty, friendly, and even entertaining. The food is ample. I love the Au Gratin potatoes are great. You get a big portion so share. The Trout is always stellar. The steaks are good too. They have nice wines and some out door dining but it's out by the busy road so I'm not sure how that would go. Anyway, I will recommend this place, but they could really step up their game by adding a couple lower priced items on the menu, and please ADD a RESERVATION system. PLEASE. read more

Went to Tavern at Eagle Island to celebrate a birthday dinner. I had the Escalade Margarita which was just a basic margarita. We tried the botanical elixir as well. I'm not big on elderflower but my sister liked it! If you're getting appetizers for the table, try the Brussel sprouts! They were so good. I loved the sweet chili glaze on these!! The steamed clams were also a favorite amongst the group, & we are pretty sure we found a small pearl in one of them! I had the beyond burger with au-gratin potatoes. I thought the potatoes would be a little cheesier & creamy in flavor, but regardless they were a good substitute from regular fries. We tried the top sirloin & it was cooked to perfection. The blue cheese chicken salad was also beautiful & tasty. I do wish there were more vegetarian friendly options on the menu, but overall I recommend checking this place out. read more

Really disappointed in this place. It's a nice restaurant and has a fun atmosphere, but since there are limited restaurants nearby, I feel like they don't put the effort into the food and service they should. We have been here multiple times and the front staff are rude and couldn't care less. The other main issue we have is they undercook the steak. They cook the steak at a high temp and sear the outside of the steak but it is raw on inside. My wife ordered medium and look at the pictures below. It is still mooing. I would recommend trying taphouse in Star. read more
