May 1, 2021 Previous review This could be the best Reuben I have tasted in the Treasure Valley. Just out for a Saturday afternoon drive before a hailstorm came thru. Exceptional food for our lunch today. A Reuben Sandwich and Fish & Chips. Of course a 20 oz. Stella Artois and a Guinness had to be included. The sandwich had beautiful marbled rye bread. The Corned beef was tender and full of flavor. The sauerkraut was yummy and the dressing was just right. Great price and big portion with fries. The Fish & Chips were light and tasty. The batter was just right to hold the fish together without swamping the flavor of the fish. Not greasy. The tartar sauce was perfect and the cole slaw was excellent. Damn good food in a real small village atmosphere. Totally recommend. read more

Weird experience. Went for dinner to check out the neighborhood. Walk in to Springhouse, & a lady behind the bar counter is taking orders from a family in front of us. They finish, we step up to the counter to order. The lady working the counter just stared at us. We look at her expectantly, awaiting an intro of some sort or any acknowledgement of our existence, a greeting, or to be given any instruction about ordering. 20 seconds go by of us all just staring at each other like she has forgotten what the script is. We finally are forced to just throw out orders at her non-responsive face. We joke about having waited for an intro & she continues to stare. Very strange encounter, neither of us have ever experienced this anywhere in our lives. It was almost as if she could not deign to greet us. Then when the food came out, they forgot the needed tartar sauce then did an instant 180 and walked away before I could also ask for needed silverware. Don't expect any real service here, it's like waitress & waiters light. The food? Fine & why this is a 3-star review. Not worth the experience. Won't go back. Ordering at the counter before service is served also required a tip. Asking for a tip before proving this level of service is scammy. read more

Going to the Springhouse wasn't actually my plan today. I headed to Hidden Springs to check out Rooted which is a coffee joint attached to the restaurant. On their website, it said they closed at 2. I didn't realize that this coffee shop is only 7 minutes from my house which is a lot easier than heading down State. So, my daughter and I made our way to Rooted for an afternoon caffeinated beverage. We showed up a little after 1. Come to find out they decided to close at 1 so I didn't get a chance to try out their coffee. My daughter was hungry so we decided to head into the Springhouse to get something to eat. To be honest, their price point here is quite amusing. I get that you're in a up scale area but let's be realistic. 20 bucks for a burger? My daughter got their lunch special which was a chicken Cesar wrap and it was still 17 bucks. I wasn't in the mood to eat anything big so I got something off their appetizer menu. The fried cauliflower seemed up my alley so I ordered that as my meal. It was mid afternoon so it was pretty chill. There were a few guests dining there. My daughter and I hung out while our food was being prepared. The venue is very big. There's a nice bar area with a big screen TV. Great for conversation, drinks and football. There are a good amount of tables that can handle quite a few people. The decor was very simple country shabby. I love the old school photos of the farmhouses they displayed. I adore old photos that carry so much history. It's cool to see what life was like back then. My fried cauliflower came out first. The presentation of the fried cauliflower was rather annoying. Like they were thrown on one side of the basket cause it was just easier for them. I was also surprised I didn't get any type of dipping sauce with them. It's humorous really, 9 bucks for cauliflower and no dip. No plates, no napkins, no silverware was given when my food was dropped off. I guess we were supposed to wipe our hands on our clothes and eat with our hands. So that tip that was at the end of my transaction is for.... service? What service? I went and asked for some utensils. My daughter's lunch was dropped off after we started on the cauliflower. I can tell my cauliflower had been sitting under the heat lamp for a while. They weren't hot. The exterior of the cauliflower was not crunchy. The sauce had been sitting on the fried batter too long and it became mushy. I scraped off the mushy batter and just ate the cauliflower with no dipping sauce. My daughter's wrap looked pretty basic for 17 bucks. We also found a blonde hair in her food. We were offered a new wrap but who wants a new wrap when my daughter just chewed on someone's hair. The venue is nice. This joint has been on my to go list for a while so it was cool I got to scope it out today. But, the food was nothing special. They start the tip percentage at 20% for you to get your own utensils, napkins and beverage. Tipping is earned and or atleast be given some decent service but taking our order at the bar or dropping off food isn't service to me. I'll pass on the subpar overpriced food and lack of service. I'll stick to somewhere in my neck of the woods. read more

You guys need to get together. Literally - Half hour for an appetizer, which arrived with the meal and was a greasy disappointment. I was embarrassed that I took my group there. Oh and 22 for a sandwich, and I'm hearing others talking about prices now too. So....I was looking forward to taking them all there but it was a bit of a let down . Different cooks at night? Dissatisfied with the service and food. Went in for lunch and it was not very busy, about 3 other tables, yet waited 40 minutes for some tacos and a sandwich. Had initially ordered the sandwich with a sauce, didn't come out with it, asked the server to bring a side of it and never got it. About halfway through the sandwich, pulled out a long hair from inside the melted cheese. Needless to say did not finish eating and will not be going back. read more

Great food, great beers, and great atmosphere! We are down at Springhouse at least once a week and can't get enough of it.

We love this spot! Everyone who works here is so welcoming and accommodating. When we come in we feel like we are seeing friends. The staff is super attentive and always have great recommendations. The menu has a ton of options- great salads, sandwiches and the fajita quesadilla is great! On certain days they have pizza now which we love. Music outside on Thursdays on a great patio. We moved here last year and it's our fav Boise spot! read more

I can't give this place enough praise. Ever since my grandpa moved to this neighborhood to be closer to my extended family after my grandma died, he's been going to this place almost nonstop and I can definitely see why. This place is amazing. The food is outright delicious and always made after you order. The wait staff is very friendly and always on top of everything. This is nice for large parties. We went and sat at a high top and everyone could scan the QR code and order. Food and drinks came out faster for us than ordering at the counter did for others. This was our midway stop for dinner from Pine Flats Hot Springs to Boise. You'll probably see at least 2 cute dogs by the entrance. Lots of families eating here. You order at the counter and bring a number to your table for the servers to find you. Food was good, although service is a bit slow. The chicken pot pie was piping hot, but delicious. I had to go up to the counter to ask for my salad because it was forgotten, but they were nice about getting it to me. The sauce on the chicken tacos were the best. We had leftovers as we ordered too much for 3 people. Easy to find, easy to park in the lot. Wifi was free and reliable. read more

After checking with staff, it was found that the order was placed as take out instead of dine in. They offered to give us dessert as an apologize, but instead someone brought us two coffee punch cards. Order from the bar and hope it's not busy... no table service. No plant-based options here today. I attempted to order the cauliflower, but they didn't have any. Other dishes require meat to be added, or at least don't offer no-meat pricing. Hoping management will catch on to a growing belief that plant-based is healthier and supported by more and more people every day. Casual atmosphere with thoughtful menu and generous portions. I have been four times and have only ordered the tacos because they are delicious. I've had pork and fish and they are consistently delicious, mostly because of some kind of magic mixture of slaw and sauce that will beg for a moment of silence. Today I tried the house salad with chicken and it is one of the best salads I've had. Fresh, flavorful and very filling. I haven't even mentioned the variety of beer, wine and cocktails. I live in Hidden Springs and I eat at the Springhouse often. When they opened the food was great and it stayed great for a while. Recently, they significantly raised prices on some items, changed sides (now charge for a small side salad that is typically wilted and came with the meal) and have cut back on sauces, ingredients etc., so the food is going downhill while the costs are increasing. This is a difficult position if they want to keep long time customers. I hope things change or I'll be going elsewhere. read more

Hidden gem in Hidden Springs...this place is amazing! The food is delicious, the fries are crispy, the service is awesome and did I mention the food is delicious Family friendly and will definitely be back. We had -Honey spiced chicken sandwich (perfectly balanced with the slaw) -BLT (perfect amount of bacon to LT ratio and the sourdough bread was excellent) -Kid's hamburger (absolutely delicious-I snuck a bite and it made me jealous that I didn't get one for myself!) There's a small Mercantile called the MERC it seems to be part of the spring house. They have a policy that you gotta spend more than five dollars to use a credit card. They universally give cyclists who are tired and thirsty and let them use their credit card for a Gatorade. This place has a lot of great things going on! Between the tasty food, the quality service, the additional patio seating, live music, and cold draft beverages, this place is easy to recommend. To top it off there's a great coffee shop (Rooted Coffee) connected to it, and a general store on the other side that serves delicious ice cream. You get the feeling that they're doing you a favor by being open. Unwelcoming staff who by 7:45 pm can't wait to close up shop. Lack of table-side service is unfortunate, unless you like the cafeteria feel. But, averaging $100+/dinner for a family of 3, cafeteria is certainly not what I'm going for. The menu is okay; pretty basic American pub cuisine. Burgers, sandwiches, and a bunch of fried foods. Beer selection is the best thing about this place. What really irks me and what inspired this one-star review is their total lack of a work ethic. This place is constantly closed. All holidays and days adjacent to holidays, closed. "Staffing shortage" closed. Sundays, closed. 8:15pm, closed. Employees don't feel like working, closed. You get the idea but this place seems to want to skate by with a minimal amount of effort. It's almost as if the Springhouse is a non-profit organization. Great location with a captive audience in an amazing neighborhood. Should Springhouse come under new management, I'd certainly go back. Always enjoy Springhouse for food and the great people. Do have to say though, the Chicken Pot Pie should be called the Potato and Carrot Pot Pie. Delicious but hard to find any chicken.
