I picked a table by the window and got myself situated. I ordered coffee and it was brought out right away. I did check out the menu while I was waiting at the hospital so I knew what I wanted. I got myself the eggs and bacon breakfast with a side of fruit. It wasn't really busy so my food came out pretty fast. I asked my server for to go packets of salt and pepper since I can't really use the communal salt and pepper shaker due to my new kidney. My server was great, grabbed me a couple packets and didn't treat me like I was weird for asking. My eggs were cooked med and jammy in the middle. My bacon was salty and savory. My coffee was fresh and hot. It's the perfect breakfast for me. My side of fruit was ok. The banana was pre cut so it looked kinda funky since it probably had been sitting for a bit. My orange and apple slices looked good. I did just have a couple orange slices. I have to be careful with produce and I didn't know if the apples were properly cleaned so I didn't want to risk it. The apple slices liked fresh and I'm pretty sure they were good. The venue is very cute and bright. I love the chalk artwork on the blackboard. My server was really sweet and everyone else that was working was nice. My food was great. I look forward to coming back. Especially in the spring, they have a fun outdoor seating area. This morning I had the french toast and my husband got the bacon and cheese omelette with a waffle. They make their own donuts, so I had to get one for later. Everything was amazing! We sat at the bar and could hear the country music in the kitchen which we enjoyed. Emmerson was such a sweet server and Ken (regular) picked up our tab! Thank you, Ken. Let me start with the pros. The service was incredibly friendly. The food was delivered to our table still hot, which is a huge plus for me. The bacon on the loaded fries was absolutely delicious. The flavor of my prime rib dip sandwich itself was pretty good. Now for the cons. We ordered the loaded fries appetizer for $8 and were both surprised by how small the portion was. I knew the moment I saw the cup of au jus for my prime rib dip that it wasn't going to have much flavor, and I was right. It was more like basic beef broth straight from a can. Au jus is what makes a French dip so good but this just didn't cut it. My husband ordered a patty melt and after just a few bites, he had a strange look on his face. I asked him what was wrong and he said the taste and texture of the meat was unusual to him. I looked at it and took it bite myself and agreed. The only way to describe it is like the patty was made up of ground Slim Jim beef sticks or something like it. My husband didn't particularly care for it and he also felt like everything was over seasoned. When he questioned our server about what kind of meat was used in his sandwich, she couldn't explain what the difference was between his sandwich and what they use in their burgers, just that it was a different patty of some sort. Another con is that all of their salad dressings at their salad bar or in squeeze bottles. My dressing of choice is blue cheese, which doesn't squeeze well from a bottle when the chunks of cheese gets stuck in the nozzle. Not a big deal, but frustrating when you're trying to squeeze it onto your salad praying that it doesn't suddenly explode all over the place. Two sandwiches, one with a side salad substitution for fries, and a small plate of loaded fries and waters to drink was a $50 dinner. As I said at the beginning It wasn't a bad experience, it just wasn't great. For a $50 dinner it was just okay. But I would definitely give it five stars for the friendly service and the fact that the food was served hot.
