Cattlemen's is the breakfast place I have been searching for. Having moved to the Treasure Valley recently, I have wanted to find that "down home" spot where everyone knows each other and the food is straight out of Mom's kitchen. Cattlemen's is it. How so? I took my wife there a couple of weeks ago and, when we returned this week, the waitress told us we could sit anywhere and when she came over with coffee, she remembered that we sat at the same table the last time. Not only that but when she asked what we were doing that day and we told her she remembered what we had told her a week and a half earlier. : 0 And the food. Their biscuits are the best I have ever had at a restaurant. Not only are they massive but they are flaky and moist (not the dry hockey pucks you get at other places). And their gravy is flavorful and a perfect pairing. Unlike the pasty mess at other places that will remain nameless. the eggs are perfectly cooked, the sign of a great cook, and the variety is sure to please anyone in your group. If you want a breakfast place that is like being in mom's kitchen but better, you need to get to Cattlemen's. You won't regret it. read more

This is the quintessential local Idaho place, nestled between industrial buildings and attached to a livestock arena. From the no-frills motif, hilarious signs that blanket each wall and friendly service...there's so much to love. We were immediately seated on a busy Saturday morning for breakfast in a 1970s throwback booth with laminated wood. It was comfortable and comforting, such a nice way to start our visit. We had plenty of time to scour the menu, chock full of everything a breakfast yearning heart desires from homemade waffles, omelets, pancakes, biscuits with gravy...you name it. I ordered the Denver omelet, substituted the ham for sausage, with home fries and an English muffin. Hubby got two pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage. Food came a lot quicker than expected; it was a nice surprise considering how busy it was. The omelet had the most sausage I've ever seen in an omelet...no skimping here! It was loaded with onions, cheese, and green peppers as well. Everything was cooked well, though a tad under seasoned. A quick fix was adding extra pepper, ketchup and an occasional dab of Cholula. The English muffin was toasted to perfection with the right amount of butter. Delicious. My husband loved his pancakes...huge, with crispy edges and soft, fluffy middles. Honestly, some of the best pancakes I've had in the valley since I've been here. Served with warm syrup too...yes please!!!! Service was extremely friendly and prompt. Excellent visit! read more

After trying just about every breakfast spot around--Sunrise (good), Mr. V's, Griddle, Broken Yoke, Golden Corral (good for the price), Black Bear Diner (good), Big Bad Breakfast (great for kids), Covey Café, and even Denny's--we can confidently say Cattlemen's Café stands above the rest. If you're looking for the best combination of friendly service, great prices, and outstanding food, this place truly cannot be beat. My wife and I are officially hooked, and it has become our go-to breakfast spot. Staff and Service? From our very first visit, we knew this place was special. The owner was right there working alongside the staff, which says a lot. Everyone was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely happy to be there. You can feel that family-style pride the moment you walk in. The food? Consistently delicious, hearty, and exactly what you hope for when you sit down to a great meal. Add in the fun, down-to-earth signs on the walls that give you something to smile about while you eat, and the whole experience just feels right. Honestly, our only concern is that too many people will discover this hidden gem, and it'll be harder to get a seat! But great places deserve recognition, and Cattlemen's Café has earned it. This is a resturant in Caldwell and actually they do auctions for animals in the same building. I love there breakfast. The cook is amazing. He made a green chili that is so tasty! Got a little spice this week! Breakfast bowl comes with hash browns or cubed potatos, green chili on top the 2 perfectly cooked eggs on top. My husband always gets their biscuits and gravy, which he says the biscuits are homemade and a bit crispy and big! Service is always on point, very nice people altogether, and the prices are reasonable. read more

The atmosphere is amazing! The plaques hung around the restaurant and the pins on the wait staff uniforms along with their very friendly demeanor make this place very special! The breakfast was delicious and their biscuit size would feed a family of four. It's hard to find a restaurant that hits every mark and this one does! Today the meat that they used to was VERY greasy and smelled off. I couldn't eat it. But they also didn't offer a break on the cost. I won't get the ground beef here any more. So I ordered something else because I was still hungry. Beware that when they offer you butter, it's very low quality margarine. Overall it was a terrible experience. But you do get to watch horses walk by, so that's a positive. read more

I have been here once before with my wife. I went there with a buddy of mine after working in a project. Both of us ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs. He ordered pancakes and I ordered toast. It was so fresh and tasty. The eggs were fresh, the sausage patty's were great. The hash browns were crisp but not burned. I didn't even take photo's of the food, because it was so good and we were too busy eating. Our waitress was Codi, and she was so nice and outstanding. Underrated breakfast eatery! Don't let the outside scare you. It's in an inconspicuous location, sharing a lot with a livestock action. Inside there's not a lot of frills. It's a tight space and has got the feel of an old diner. Staff is super friendly and all the guests seem to know each other and the staff. It feels like walking into the family you never knew you were missing! Wonderful food for great prices! My only gripe is that I didn't discover this place sooner! We just happened to look this cafe up on yelp looking for hometown comfort food. I had the BLT, bacon was super good. Then we ordered their in house homemade three berry pie! So so good the crust was really flaky and the best part you could taste the berries not sugar. Would go back just to have pie not fancy just a nice little place for lunch with sweet waitresses. Food was very good! Our friends joined us in our ongoing quest for an excellent hamburger. And we were successful! Each one of our group of five were very pleased with our meals. The homemade tomato soup was delicious. One of us had French toast with bacon. Very tasty. Our only negatives were the syrup is not true maple syrup and the restaurant is pretty noisy. I've been wanting to try this place. They close at 2 pm, and I happened to be in Caldwell early enough to go. I had a Special. It was 2 scrambled eggs with mushrooms and fresh tomatoes on a homemade biscuit covered with sausage gravy. Fresh fruit substituted for hashbrowns. It was different but tasted good. Good portions. They were pretty busy. Seems to be a happy place. It is at a cattle auction house, so when you use the restroom, the hallway smells like cows and, therefore, cow manure. It doesn't affect the restaurant that I noticed. I didn't smell it there at all. I'd try it again. It looked like several regulars came and went. Waitresses were very prompt and helpful as I accidentally dropped my silverware on the floor. read more

Very down home cafe atmosphere with some of the friendliest service you will find in Idaho! We have only been there for breakfast, and it has become one of our favorite Saturday morning places. If you want the stereotypical small town diner experience this is the place! A very friendly staff will serve you. To me, it looks like they are all enjoying their jobs. I mean, when your waitress comes to your table wearing "Not Today Heifer" earrings who can resist smiling? Attention to detail here is on the menu as well as prompt food made to order. They serve breakfast and lunches until 2:00 PM but have some entrees labeled "dinner". I had the chicken fried steak breakfast and while not the best CFS I've tasted, the plate overall was delicious with two eggs, hash browns and choice of bread (or pancakes). I only wish I had room to try the tempting pies on the dessert menu. My good friend ordered a chicken nugget salad which he thoroughly enjoyed. The place gets a little loud during busy times but that's just the diner experience right? Come solo if you like; there is a high counter with stools to dine comfortably. Next time I will try one of their legendary half pound burgers (and not eat another meal until the next day!). read more
