Went for breakfast last week and tried the Egg Factory. Even though it was early there was quite a few diners. Waitress kept checking in on us but the food did take a bit to get to us. The food was good; the service was not so great. Ambiance is like an average country diner, even though it's not in the country, but still a bit run down. The front and back of the house have some kind of disconnect. We had the wrong food delivered to our table twice. When we did get our food, we still had no setups to eat with, and the order wasn't quite right. We ordered an extra egg on an entree with two eggs and instead got an entree with one egg instead of three. The back of the house doesn't seem to understand what "on the fly" means to fix a simple error like that, and then they tried to end our meal with aggressive bussing. It's like "I'm sorry, but we didn't cause the problem making us linger here and late to our movie, you did. Please don't try to steal my uneaten toast as an additional insult on injury. Also, two plus one equals three, please make a note of it." Maybe the waitress just forgot to tip out to others, who knows? I tip well, so if they got a gripe, it 'aint me. Bottom line: Enjoy some breakfast if you have some time, but don't let them steal your toast. read more

Not good is about the nicest way to describe our last experience here. For context, we came in on a Saturday around 11:30am and we were a group of about 7. Instructions on wait time were very unclear and we ended up waiting about 35 minutes. Once we were in, staff was visible annoyed with the size of our group and our server had little to no patience. We were sat up on this platform area on the north side of the restaurant and had to hunt down an extra chair ourselves since we were short one. Food took about another 30 minutes to come out and many items were wrong, cold, or quite simply tasteless. I'm sure this place is fine when its probably a 2-3 person group but anything more than 4, I'd recommend probably going home and whipping up some pancakes. read more

Unacceptable customer service at Idaho Center Blvd locationI am writing to share feedback regarding a highly disappointing experience my friend and I had at your Idaho Center Boulevard location two days ago.Unfortunately, we experienced what felt like the worst service we have ever received at a restaurant. It took an unreasonably long time just to get seated. Once at our table, the staff members were openly rude, and multiple waitresses were visibly making faces at us. Not once did anyone check in to ask if we needed refills or anything else. To make matters worse, the staff brought us to-go boxes before we even requested them, clearly trying to rush us out of the door.We felt incredibly unwelcome and disrespected as paying customers. I am sharing this in hopes that management will look into employee conduct and hospitality training during this shift so future guests do not experience the same treatment. read more

Save your receipt and check your credit card statement! I ate lunch here last week. The food was OK but the service was pretty bad. They were pretty busy so I didn't make a big deal out of it and just rolled with it. My waitress admitted that it was her mistake. Regardless, when I paid at the cash register, I left her a 20% tip. When I handed the credit card slip back to her and she saw the tip, she looked really surprised and said 'I don't deserve this'. I always save my receipts and check my statement to make sure they match. When I compared the charge on my card to the receipt, I was charged an additional 13% - which means I tipped her 33% - for OK food and bad service. I called the restaurant to complain. Whoever answered the phone took all my info and said the additional charge would be credited back to my card. She took my name and phone number in case the manager needed to contact me. I still have not received the credit and never heard from the manager. Totally shady. This happens a lot so always save your receipts and verify the amount charged to your card a day or two later. This place isn't worth the cost of the food as listed on the menu, much less an extra 33%. Pretty crappy thing to do to your customers, especially after they leave you a tip that even you acknowledged you don't deserve. read more

We love going to the Egg Factory for Patty melts. They are the best, great rye bread and double patties. French fries are always good, pancakes just yummy. Me and my wife went there with her family for lunch. When we walked in, it was a little busy, however we got a table within a couple minutes. The service was alright but the food was not. Never been treated so rudely here before! Walked in for a late breakfast with my family and noticed they were a little busy. No biggy, we weren't in any rush. There were a few people seated at the front and we were standing by the front counter waiting for someone to greet us. After a few minutes, there was another couple that came in and soon after, a waitress walked up and asked them their name and how many in their party. My husband and I looked at each other wondering how we were completely overlooked. My husband went up to the waitress and told her we had been waiting and she asked for his name. He told her there were 3 of us and before he could give the name, she scolded him that she had asked his name. My husband was a little caught off guard and had a little pause while he was trying to figure out what just happened and then proceeded to tell her his name. Then he told her that we had been waiting first and just wanted to make sure we could get a table. She was pretty sour and responded rudely. By that time, my husband had had enough and we decided to take our money elsewhere. We've never had such a bad experience there because we usually go in and have this sweet lady always helping us. But I guess that day wasn't meant to be for Egg Factory to benefit from our generosity. For a breakfast speciality place, I'm told they only schedule 2 servers during the 8-9 hours. There are plenty of empty tables/booths but you'll have to sign in and wait up to 10 minutes before someone even acknowledges you. The attitude of the servers indicate they are not happy and I'd say even take added time to serve you because they appear upset with the management for not adding servers to cover the diners. Our visit was a positive one. We found the service to be friendly and efficient. Our orders generally came out as requested (with one small exception). The food was good but some of it was a bit too salty - the sausage patties, for example. The pancakes were tasty. They were cakey and thick as opposed to fluffy. Not a bad thing...just sharing for those that have a preference. The eggs were done very well and were very good. The coffee was good. Food is always great but guests are not quickly shown to tables even when many are available. On 3/01 we checked in about noon, no customers waiting, 4 servers working and over half the tables empty. after being left at the door for over 10 minutes for no reason we left and ate elsewhere. Based on this reception and many previous visits, this location has very poor service when it comes to receiving customers. Guests should be seated as quickly as possible not left to feel like a secondary concern. read more
