Before Christmas, my friend wanted to meet up for a quick bite so she suggested Eddie's. We both wanted breakfast for lunch so Eddie's sounded like a great place to eat at. I arrived first. There was a server behind the counter not really acknowledging me. There were also a couple other servers hanging out by the breakfast bar that were in their own little world. So, I just stood there for a while. Finally someone who was actually serving a table who wad walking by greeted me and got my sat. I got some coffee started while I was waiting for my friend. I told me server about my new kidney and that I couldn't use the creamers on the table that had been handled by previous guests. She was kind and got me a new bowl of creamers. I kicked it, enjoyed my hot coffee and waited till my friend showed up. After my friend finally showed up, we breezed over the menu and decided on some grub. I did have a meal a little before our lunch date so I got something off the smaller menu. I decided on the hamburger patty with onions and 1egg meal. I thought it was going to be the perfect amount. Everything came out quickly. I did ask for a side of brown gravy for my hamburger patty, it was looking kinda dry. The side of fruit I got looked fresh and my egg was cooked perfectly. My patty was smaller, it would be comparable to a patty you would use as a slider. The gravy and onions did add nice flavor to it. Unfortunately the gravy was sitting for a while in the back cause it was lumpy and cooler. The egg was fresh and the fruit as good. My coffee was always topped off by our server which I really appreciated. My friend and I didn't realize what time they closed. We just thought that we came at an odd hour so no one was eating and it was slow. We hung out for a while and chatted. Finally another server told us that she was going to go paint the bathroom and she would be in there if we needed anything. Finding that to be such an odd comment, I googled to see what time they closed. It was 2:15 and they closed at 2. I thought a simple "is there anything else we can get you cause we are closed" would have been sufficient instead of beating around the bush. I served for over 30 years and have never told my guests I would be in the bathroom if they needed me. It was an interesting meal here. The venue was fun with the lights and vintage decor. The food was decent. Our server did a great job but service outside of her was non existent or questionable. I have my favorite breakfast joints and I wish I could have added this place to it on this end of town. I love supporting local but it's hard to support this joint when the service and food was just 50/50. read more

Came in for dinner and had biscuits and gravy. I was worried what kind of quality of food I was going to get beans that I saw the chef use the microwave. From what I've gathered they make their own biscuits and they're gravy was definitely not from a box. The bacon was cooked almost perfect and the hashbrowns were also good overall a good experience good 1950s feel to the restaurant and the staff is very polite. read more

Good homestyle cookin' in Boise. This is a large 50s style diner with lots of memorabilia from that era on the walls. We were welcomed in on a holiday weekend afternoon. Plenty of choices on the menu and also includes a senior menu. Since we were out of state visitors, we opted again for a plate including the state's famous potatoes. My choice was the Idaho skillet which was eggs, country potatoes, broccoli (getting the veggies in! Lol), turkey, and cheese. The seasoning was a bit weak but on the table there were salt and pepper shakers, hot sauce, and ketchup available. I added pepper and had ketchup on the side. Tasty and huge portions! Hubby's choice was the pot roast with mashed potatoes. It tried a little bit of his and that is was big plate of comfort food! I tried a little bit of his chowder and that was just OK. As for beverages, the coffee and orange juice were just fine. Service was warm and kind. If visiting in the part of Boise again, we would return for brunch or explore a new spot via yelp. 4 stars! read more

We go to this restaurant every time we're in the Boise area. Their food is the best! Portions are very generous, and the staff are amazing.

Open all day for breakfast which is nice. I took a seat at the counter. Very friendly servers who are kind of entertaining and carry on a constant banter. I ordered the single egg, sausage links, and pancake combo for $11.50. It's a busy place, but the food came fairly quickly. The fried egg was cooked nicely and the sausage links were tasty. The server suggested two single pancakes instead of the plate size which she said was huge. Probably should have had the plate size because the pancakes were thick and absorbed the syrup like sponges. There's nothing wrong with the place. Eddie's is average and a decent spot for breakfast. read more

Eddie's Diner truly knows how to do breakfast right! I ordered the Western omelette, and it was everything I hoped for - cheesy, gooey, and cooked perfectly. Each bite was flavorful and satisfying, exactly the way I like my omelettes. Alongside, I had coffee, toast with peanut butter, and hashbrowns. The coffee was smooth and kept piping hot, thanks to the attentive waitstaff who ensured my cup never ran dry. My water and juice were also constantly topped off, and the staff seemed to be there the instant I needed anything. Their attention to detail made me feel so well taken care of throughout my meal. Eddie's Diner deserves every one of these five stars for their fantastic food and top-notch service. I'll definitely be back soon for another breakfast that hits all the right notes! Car themed diner with friendly staff. Huge restaurant and not too busy, was seated right away. Menu is no frills with standard breakfast options. Only sweet options are pancakes and French toast. Went with the Eggs Benedict. I am always nervous ordering a this at a diner as they don't always know how to poach an egg and the Hollandaise sauce is easy to get wrong. Food arrived and the hollandaise sauce had an orange color that made me nervous. Flavor was good though and the eggs were properly poached. Hashbrowns were good too. Not super impressed with the menu but if you want a giant omelet or a monster sized pancake this is a decent option. read more

The place is always crowded which is a huge surprise for me because of food is not good. I ordered breakfast, it looked like half an egg only, a little bit of hash browns that were completely dried up, toast that was burned, it was just not a good experience. It looks like a child size meal. It took forever for a waiter to come help us, just not organized at all. I will never go back because the servings are ridiculously small, the prices are okay but I want something that I could actually be happy with. read more

I wish I found this hidden gem faster. I love traditional family diner food! Just simple food that tastes great with simple prices! The servers and staff are all so awesome and love that they come together wearing BSU swag on game days. Their breakfast options are great and my husband loves their eggs benny! THIS IS OUR GO-TO FAMILY RESTAURANT IN BOISE, BUT... on this visit there were several big disappointments. The service was excellent on this noon time visit. The french fries were limp, greasy, and totally unappealing. On the other hand the tater tots were perfectly hot, crispy, and plentiful. How hard is it to cook french fries? The Eddys burger was huge, and although difficult to eat, was good with some added condiments. My chicken strips were a disappointment, as they were not only small in size, they were only about 1/4" thick. How can I not feel cheated with a chicken strip with very little chicken. Taste was ok, but almost all breading. My wife's biscuits and gravy was pretty good, with one huge biscuit and a small bowl of their gravy. She said that it did not taste like a traditional gravy for this meal and therefore was disappointing to her. Despite these issues, we will definitely go back to try some more from their extensive menu with fair prices (comparatively) and good service. read more

Great breakfast spot. Fast friendly service The omelettes are great as well as the coffee. Typical diner ambiance with a heavy local presence. The locals always know where to eat. I came here in a Friday morning and heard conversations on welding different metals and the techniques ,how to properly set the timing on a Ford 1971 351engine and the proper time to fertilized your trees. Eddie's Restaurant was recommended to us by the owner of our Airbnb in Boise as being close by and having good food and he was right! We ate there for brunch on Saturday morning and it was a hopping place--but we only had to wait a few minutes. Our server was very efficient if a bit frazzled by the brisk business. The place has an old-timely diner feel with license plates and photos of cars on the walls and we could tell they catered to the local folks, especially veterans. They even had a waiting corner with newspapers. We both ordered omelettes with hash browns and I had toast with mine and my friend had a pancake. The omelette was stuffed with so much ham that I had to take some out, but it and the hash browns and toast tasted great. The coffee was good as well and the prices were very reasonable. It was so good, in fact, that we went there for dinner that night and breakfast the next morning! I had a Philly cheese steak sandwich that night with homemade fries that were delicious; my friend had liver and onions that came with ham and potato soup, mashed potatoes, corn and a roll. She said her liver was a little chewy, but otherwise good and the soup was delicious. Our breakfast the next day was delicious as well; the biscuit I got was the biggest one I've ever seen! I really wanted to like this place more and I am giving an extra star for the outstanding service we had last night 10/6 at approximately 7:30p and sat near the windows in case the owners read this. I didn't catch her name but she is a gold star for sure. The food however was lack luster at best. I had the club sandwich and it might've been the worst one I have ever had. Mind you the restaurant was absolutely dead so the fact they sloppily put this together is inexcusable. The bacon was left over and not fresh, the romaine soggy had to take it off and the tomatoes you could also tell had been sitting around. Complete disappointment as well as the frozen tater tot's that tasted like they had been cooked and heated multiple times. My wife had the bowl of soup and salad and while they claim the soup is homemade that could be up for question. Wasn't even that hot and the salad was as basic but sad to say but it was the freshest tasting part of the meal. This is sad because this town is lacking places like this. They could kill it based on location and type of food but the key is slowing it down and putting the care back into the food and presentation. Oh, Eddie's restaurant is an old-time favorite. When I moved to Idaho 8 years ago, my sister brought me here, and the dishes are all American breakfast and lunch dishes. Big plates of food. my husband and I came here because we were looking for a place that was open at 6am, and Eddie's was the lucky winner. The inside of the restaurant is all classic and a lot of car plates from everywhere. We ordered the food and it was as delicious as I remembered. I would have never known this place was there. probably drove past it 100 times. was driving around with my dad doing some errands and he spotted it and wanted to pop in. I am so glad we went in here. eva greeted us at the door and she was an absolute angel. so sweet, and wanted to know our names and said she would remember next time we came. I love her. the place itself is old school. license plates all over the walls. cool pictures of cars. everyone in there was 55+. this is all good to me. I love restaurants like this. the menu is great. burgers, sandwiches, breakfast, and even some dinner items like meatloaf and steaks. everything that walked past us looked so good. the guy in the booth next to us got a BLT. it looked so good that's what I ordered. it was perfect. good mayo ratio, thick bacon, fresh lettuce and tomato, and really good quality bread. the fries are actual real potatoes. these are the primo best fries you can find. my fry heaven! my dad got a patty melt and the soup of the day which was ham and navy bean. I cannot recommend this place. I stopped in this morning and it was busy, but not like line out of the door busy. It is a pretty big place and there appeared to be two couples waiting for tables. I was able to get right in as a counter seat opened. I got a cup of coffee by a passing server and quickly made my order decision. On both sides of me were regulars and the server assigned to the counter apparently decided the stranger didn't rate the same consideration, as she beelined to a regular who sat down 5 minutes after I did. He made it a point to let her know he didn't want to sit next to "those people," so he reseated himself. I don't know who "those people" were but the server was all good with that. She chatted him up for a minute and then started taking his order - never even acknowledging me. When I stopped another server to see if she could take my order, she went over to the assigned server and told her to put my order in first. So the assigned server, in a bit of a snit, walked over to me and said, "what do you want, I will put your order in first." I told her I would go somewhere else as it was evident she didn't want to serve me. She just said, "ok," and gave me a ticket for a $3 coffee, then walked down to the next customer and started chatting with him. I politely asked to talk to the manager, and she dismissively waved to the host station in front and told me to talk to the guy up there (she said his name but I am not sure what it is, so I am not going to misstate it). This is a rather loud place and I certainly didn't raise my voice, but as soon as I got to him, he said he would like to buy my coffee this morning and would talk to the server about the situation. I think this means he was tipped off that I was less than happy. In any case, I ended up at Cracker Barrel as I really wanted breakfast and had to settle for mediocrity, but at least a place that appreciates customers. read more

I am from out of town and I love finding local treasures and this was one of them. Sat at the counter where my coffee was never cold. The waitresses were super friendly and nice to newcomers (like me) and charismatic to the the known frequent patrons. They had such playful banter with the customers and everyone was polite and full of fun, positive energy. My food was delicious and had a great portion size. Really a great bang for your buck!!! I ordered the breakfast meal and subbed (3) pancakes for toast. To say my eyes were bigger than my stomach was an understatement but I would make my best friend (champion weight lifter and food destroyer) proud. I put away most of all that was put in front of me and then drove back to where I am staying and promptly took a nap! I will definitely be returning to this place and bringing friends. A waitress shot dagger eyes to the young man who seated us, that was the first indication of trouble...Thought she'd be our server because she was talking to the table next to us in the least busy section in the restaurant..but we were never acknowledged. Pancakes are dry and tough. Ordered mushroom Swiss burger it was dry, no mayo mustard just dry burger. I also had to wait extra time for a new burger to be cooked due to an issue with the kitchen and wait staff. I asked for mustard and mayo, never made it to the table. My food got cold, kid couldn't enjoy pancakes then the wait for a go box was long, I was made to pay for the burger i didn't eat... it was cold while waiting for mayo or mustard I still didn't get to go. Eddie's is my brothers go to breakfast restaurant, so i end up here every time i visit him in Boise. The place is usually busy, but they have a rhythm to get people in and out while the patron doesn't feel rushed. Sometimes the wait staff is sassy back when you are sassy with them, or it's so filled with regulars everyone knows each other. Perhaps why my brother likes it so much, or perhaps the food taste great while being inexpensive. i loved the food this time, my brother ordered his hash browns as "hash white", so i quipped that i wanted my hash browns to be "hash crisped" - the waitress wrote it down, and my hash browns were perfect!!!!! when delivered. WOW!! again, wait staff are all really nice, make sure you tip well since the food checks are so reasonable. read more

In from Las Vegas, NV. Place was busy on a Sunday morning. 10 minute wait @ 10:30-ish for a 3 top. Was seated & can tell this place is a well oiled machine. Water & coffee served immediately. Server took our orders, 2 omelettes our way & a siracha Benedict. Food came out hot & delicious. Probably the best omelette I've ever had. Hash browns were hot but could have been more crispy. Every employee was hot on their feet & communicating with each other. Fun to watch as a former restaurant employee at every level. read more

Inside out: this place is super easy to get in and out of, ample parking, and average outside outside. The inside is relaxed, I like the layout and the seating. I love the large windows and they always paint cute scenes on them which I love. They have fresh flowers at the table today which is extremely refreshing in the dead of winter. I love the hanging plants as well. Service: my family switched their every Sunday breakfast from Denny's to here and have no regrets, there wasn't anything super wrong with Denny's but this place is more local and the service is more consistent. I know I don't remember to check in clearly but we come here all the time. Only once out of I'd say 100 times over the years have I had bad service. Food: it's a fair price, it's warm and good, and has tons of options. I've never been blown away by anything but it's warm and comforting every time. It's the kind of place you go to get a solid meal at a fair price and relax. There is nothing amazing about presentation, but quality seems consistently at the higher end of middle. I enjoy their coffee and you never run out! Always a fresh orange slice with breakfast foods which is lovely, my grandfather loves it. The vibe is an over all older 50s style and the crowd matches in the older age group most of the time. I tend to bring most people here when we are undecided and someone suggests Ihop or Denny's.
