Food is great and priced reasonably. You get your moneys worth here and the food is always good!!

It's been over 20 years since I have eaten here. How crazy that time has truly flown by so fast. Moving to different states, new restaurants that have opened by us or the fact we live across town, just a couple reasons to why I haven't been in. But lucky for me, my husband and I were in the area so of course we had to make our way in for brunch. We showed up 45 minutes til close. There was about a 25 to 30 minute wait. We decided to tough it out and kick it. I did ask if we would still get served since we will be sat towards closing. They said yes so we waited. There would be a wait anywhere else so why leave. I just found it so kind that they would be willing to still take us with the restaurant closing soon. It was busy which makes me so happy. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing a local business thrive. While hanging out, I was admiring the fun antiques that were decorated all over the restaurant. Talk about history and charm to this joint. Vintage cans, old cooking utensils, old school packages of Spam. There's so much history in this little venue. It's truly incredible to look at and appreciate. We were finally sat 20 minutes til closing. We got some coffee and apple juice started while we checked out the menu. After drinks were dropped off, we quickly ordered our food. My husband got chicken fried steak and I got the works omelet without the sausage. I believe they replaced it with extra ham. Food came out rather fast since we were the tail end of the day. And boy did everything look so good! My omelet looked massive. I was starving so I was so happy that it was big! The omelet was stuffed with green peppers, onions, ham, bacon and cheese. I also got a hearty side of hashbrowns. My husband got his country gravy that came with his country fried steak on the side for me. I was able to add it to my hashbrowns and omelet. Country gravy and hashbrowns is a top tier combination. And today's gravy and potatoes was money! My omelet was perfection. The onions and green peppers were nicely sautéed. There was a great amount of ham and bacon. The eggs were nicely cooked! Cheese that was in the middle was nice and melty. I ate the whole thing! Did I regret it later, yes but it was worth it! I finished half of my hashbrowns. Crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, these hashbrowns were fantastic! And the country gravy made them that much tastier. My husband enjoyed his breakfast. I most definitely enjoyed mine. Service was fabulous. Coffee was hot and always filled. Today's visit was truly fantastic. I heard that this joint is moving to Orchard. I look forward to coming and checking out the new venue. I know I won't be waiting another 20 years to come back. The food and the service was too good not to come back soon. This place is hidden away, but really worth finding. We arrived at the restaurant right at 9am. Good thing. By 9:30 it has a waiting list of people. It's hard to find the exact things that give this place such a high rating. The coffee isn't bitter or sour. It's just right. The hash browns are crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The sausage isn't sweet or too heavy on the sage. The eggs are cooked perfectly. The servers are first class. This place is just a winner in every category. read more

This is a cute spot tucked in Franklin Business Park on South Cole Road. Had great reviews so decided to try it myself. It's a decent sized area with nice decors including Spam products, world map with different pins, and cute wallpapers. Our server was sweet and very nice. Overall, food was great. They were delicious with big servings. Their cinnamon roll was alright; everything else we tried were yummy. Veggie omelet was tasty. Blueberry pancake platter comes with 2 eggs and a meat of your choice. Got sausage patties which were so tender and flavorful. The blueberry pancakes were huge. They are equivalent to 6 small pancakes. They had a lot of fresh blueberries. Our breakfast was so good. We left happy and really satisfied with the good and quick and great service. We came here on Mother's Day morning so seating took a bit, but our server was super friendly and did everything she could to get our big group seated comfortably together. First I want to say that location of this place could be challenging! They are located in a business park and although we used Google Maps to find them, we got off the beaten path but a drive through the parking lot led us to a sandwich board that has their name on it and a funny statement about "now you found us!". Truth be told! Their tag line is "Boise's Best Kept Secret Since 1974" but now that we know they are there...we'll be back and bring family. My nephew and I wanted breakfast one morning and I Yelped breakfast places and this little "hole in the wall" place came up. He was game so we came and what an amazing surprise! They offer breakfast and lunch and have a pretty extensive menu. The café itself is decorated in a very eclectic style with a bit of everything! It reminds me of walking into my grandma's kitchen, full of family memorabilia! There were many different signs with some cute sayings (included a photo of a favorite!). It was fun to look around at what others were having and there were some incredible looking dishes! I was in the mood for hash and eggs and although I'm a bit leery to order this, I plunged in! Asked for the eggs over-medium, as always. I love crispy hash, I know this was canned which is ok with me! I especially appreciate it when it is simple without the addition of peppers, etc. The hash was cooked crispy and two big services, centered with hash browns and my eggs to the side. I'm a mixer with some things and nothing better than mashing this dish together for a bite of perfection! I also ordered rye toast, which was cooked like toast should be and with a good smear of butter! My nephew order a veggie omelet that was full of veggies, cooked to perfection and he loved it! It was a big omelet! Service overall was pleasant and friendly! You could tell there were many regulars present, especially with the easy banter between customers and staff. The Chefs Hut is quite literally a hidden gem here in Boise! I say that because it is located in the middle of office spaces/business warehouses but you can easily find the door by all the people flocking in! I went on a Sunday at around 10:00am and had to wait for about 25 minutes but it was well worth it. Once we were seated, the waitress got us our coffee and made sure our cups were full for the entirety of our stay and we never had to ask for a refill. I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs (over easy) which was good but the star of the show was the eggs Benedict my boyfriend ordered. If you like eggs Benedict... this is the place to get it! The hollandaise sauce was creamy and the eggs were perfectly poached. I was very impressed and will definitely order it the next time I am there. On the way out we got a cinnamon roll to go since they specialize in them and the kind hostess even poured us coffee to go. The weirdest location, but it's so darn cute inside. It's like your back in grandma's kitchen! The cutest, most comfortable and cozy breakfast shop. The lady who waited on us was just the sweetest! She was asking about my rings, and I hate that I never asked her my name. She was so sweet and accommodating! If I lived in Boise I would have friended her! Our food was so good! We are snobby when it comes to country gravy, and it was so darn good. We had been eating all weekend so our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. They serve a ton of food too for a great price. This place is super cute and small. Maybe 10 tables. Bar area seats about 5 or so. We got here on a Friday morning around 930. We were able to be seated right away. This place is super small, so if you are having a conversation in a louder tone of voice, everyone will hear you. Be fore warned. I had the special. Bacon, egg Benedict. I always get the hollandaise sauce on the side. The avocados were surrounding the egg. They weren't under the egg. The bacon strips were put across both English muffins. The hashbrowns were crispy. Not a huge fan of hasbrowns myself. My boyfriend got the gut buster. It had to have been over a pound of food. He ate 2/3 of it. The pancakes were really good. Definitely recommend them. read more

This is my go-to breakfast spot. Never disappoints. Went solo last weekend, sat at the counter. Got my usual, half order of eggs Benedict with hashbrowns and a cinnamon roll. Their eggs Benedict is always cooked perfectly, with crispy on the outside, soft on the inside hashbrowns. And the cinnamon roll is the best in town. They are a small establishment so go early or plan to have a wait, but it is so worth it. The service is always super friendly as well. read more

Friendly country diner! Came by for breakfast and wasn't sure my GPS was taking me to the right place because it is in an industrial area. Walked inside to receive a warm greeting. Looked like a lot of regular customers enjoying their breakfast. One server handling everyone but she did an amazing job. Ordered the strawberry stuffed toast and it was French toast on Texas toast bread. Nothing was "stuffed," rather a layer of cream cheese was found between the two slices of bread. Ambiance and service were nice, and they even had toys. Food was eh. Chicken fried steak was good, so was the French toast. I had read about the coconut encrusted French toast but mine had burnt coconut just tossed on the top. The chocolate chip pancake had some good bites, and other parts that were clumpy due to unmixed batter, the coffee tasted like a watered down burnt coffee grounds with the only option for creamer being half and half, and the cinnamon roll was store bought quality. Amazing cinnamon rolls! I love this place in Chicago called Ann Sather's (Ann "slathers" since they slather frosting on the cinnamon roll so well). This place tasted very close to this old favorite of mine. It is in a really weird industrial park location, but the inside is homey/cosy. Staff is friendly and attentive and seems like family. Filled with regulars that treasure this place. I ordered the Cinnamon rolls and a side of 2 eggs and crispy bacon (which they cooked up nice and crispy). Everything else looked good on the menu and I will definitely be back to try more items. read more

We have been actively trying to try Chef's Hut. The reviews appear good, and the menu was appealing. We tried to go last weekend, to find an hour wait time ahead of us. Understandable, as it's a Sunday, and the location is very small. Ultimately we decided to go somewhere with a shorter wait time. My husband and I tried again today, Sunday. He called ahead to be told they won't add to the waitlist over the phone and there were 9 families already waiting. Again, understandable, so we placed an online order for pick up instead with a quoted wait time of 20-25 minutes. I walk in to pick up our order, and first thing I notice is there is literally no one waiting to be seated, and an empty table in the middle of the restaurant. Unless all 9 families decided they wanted to eat elsewhere, my husband was blatantly lied to on the phone. I let the gentleman at the register know I'm there for my pick up order, he glances at what appears to be the only to go order waiting, and says "they'll be right with you" then walks away. The woman standing behind him turns and asks me for my name, I repeat it, she also looks at the bagged order, and says "just one moment" and turns to continue talking to the cook behind the counter. A third lady walks by and asks what the name on my order is, and for the third time I tell them. She looks at the bag on the counter, at which point the first lady picks up the bag and hands it to me. All 3 of them had to ask my name and look at the bag for it to be handed to me? At least I have delicious food to look forward to. I drive the 3 minutes home and begin unboxing our orders. My french toast may as well have been bread it was so underdone, and the batter was so undermixed that one triangle had plain fried egg white covering it. My bacon was overdone, and the stuffed hashbrowns likely are tasty fresh, but they were a soggy mess in the short time before I got home. Poor service, mediocre at best food. What a disappointment for somewhere I've been looking forward to trying. read more

It has been years since I last visited the Chef's Hut. Fun cafe hidden in an industrial/office park off Cole Road. Ambiance and folks are great and welcoming. Food is above average but not great. We had a blueberry pancake, eggs Benedict and Breakfast sandwich. All good but not great. Hash browns were so so. Not sure how they are cooked but something in the oil taste is so so for me. Awesome little home in the wall! We found it, no problem, but apparently it's not so easy to locate. Came in on a Saturday morning, late breakfast. Quoted 45 minute wait time, seated in less than 30. Cinnamon roll appetizer was good; fluffy, warm and not too dry. Stuffed French toast was pretty good, could have used a bit more "stuffing". Chicken and waffle was great. Loved that they used tenders, good portions, hot and fresh. The chicken fried steak + points for homemade gravy (- cause it was too thick and not enough), plenty of hash browns though and a decent portion overall. It could have been less potato and more (thinner) gravy though. Good, hot coffee in a huge mug. Bright friendly service. Definitely will return. read more
