This was my fourth visit to FORK, and I always order the Tomato Soup Fondue with Grilled Cheese--it's my absolute favorite! We had friends visiting from out of town, so after taking them to see the Idaho State Capitol, we walked over to FORK for lunch. It's an easy walk from the Capitol to the restaurant, which made it the perfect place to take our visitors. The food and drinks were oh-so-delicious! I've dined both inside and outside, and although the interior is beautiful, we decided to enjoy the lovely Idaho weather and sit on the patio. We're so excited to be back in Idaho! And the first place we came to eat was Fork. We remember how much we loved it from a few years ago. The asparagus fries are still insane! So happy for them. And really all the appetizers we've had in the past few weeks have been delicious. The Wedge salad is a favorite of the family. We love the location and the vibe as well. The butter cake always calms everyone's anxiety about moving to a new state. We're looking forward to many more meals here. Especially on Sundays after church. read more

The asparagus fries are an absolute must, they were amazing. Brussels were also great, definitely would get them again. Also the caramel bread pudding is TO DIE FOR. Save room it's worth it, the caramel sauce is browned butter or something. So yum. For mains we got the short rib, it was good. Huli huli chicken, kinda tough and WAY too much sauce. My plate was a sloppy mess of mashed potatoes and sweet sauce. And lastly the steak Sammy, it was chewy and also kind of tough. The bread it was on was excellent though, and the fries were also good (ask for them extra crispy). Cocktails we got the mule, which I liked, and a prickly pear margarita, which was way too sour for me. I'd go back and just get the apps and dessert, skip the mains. I was definitely disappointed in my meal. I was debating between hetero and another place but this was recommended so I went. I ordered the Brunch Burger. It was a smashed burger (very small) with "thick cut Huckleberry glazed pork belly +a fried egg". I didn't taste the Huckleberry and was underwhelmed by the pork belly. Very small portion that I don't even remember it on the burger. It was $17.50 & came with red potatoes which I had to pay extra to swap out for fries. Which I didn't realize would be $8! And, I ordered a cold brew. My total for a mediocre meal with tip was $35!! Definitely disappointed for what I got ‍ But the server was friendly. read more

This is a farm to table restaurant in Boise in the heart of the city. We made reservations just in case, for an early dinner at 4:30pm, and it was not too busy - walk-ins seem to be possible if you cannot snag a limited reservation. We got the Carajillo cocktail (seasonal) and a glass of red wine from an Idaho winery. The drinks were expensive for Boise - $16 for a tiny cocktail, versus the usual $11-15 price tag at most of the nearby restaurants. The red wine was decent. The Carajillo was interesting as it was a take on espresso martini with some citrus notes We got the asparagus fries, tomato basil fondue and grilled cheese, Idaho rainbow trout, and Fork's signature warm butter cake. The asparagus fries were market price and fluctuates. It was decent - texture is pretty much asparagus with some fried batter and nothing special aside from the ranch sauce that you dip with it. The tomato basil fondue was an interesting take on grilled cheese and tomato soup. The fondue candle is aesthetic only - it was useless in keeping the soup warm. The Idaho rainbow trout was a pretty good price - a whole piece of fish filet into 2 pieces with a decent amount of root vegetables and Brussels sprouts. The fish needs some flavor but fine when combining with everything. The warm butter cake was good but the presentation was a bit sloppy - the ice cream failed to stay in the center since the butter cake was sloped and not uniform. Service is fine as bare minimum but felt a bit abrupt and inadequate at times. For a restaurant that you can easily spend $50-100 per person, especially in Boise, it is on the higher end so I expected more from the service. read more

I attended a farewell brunch here with a large group of friends. It was a nice ending to a long weekend with friends! I'm giving 4 stars because the service was great! Very attentive! However, I didn't find a whole lot of vegan friendly items. I opted for dry toast and avocado. The avocado was plentiful and perfectly ripe! I also got orange juice, I also got an iced tea. I honestly didn't know a thing about Fork. We can as a large group of 16 or so people and I just tagged along for brunch. Located in the heart of downtown Boise in the beautiful and historic National Bank Building, Fork has that classy upscale feel. I love that that they also have a nice outside patio area if you want to take in a beautiful day. The bathrooms were clean and nice though is a bit weird that you have to cut through server station to get there. The menu has many unique brekkie items from chilaquiles to yummy sounding omelettes and a giant cinnamon role, but what caught my attention was Idaho Chef's Benny. Idaho = Local poachers + blackened & fried Idaho trout + local English muffin + Cajun hollandaise + crispy red potatoes. I've never had fish on a Benny so I had to try it. And I'm glad I did as it was delicious. One thing did bother me through and that's that I had to peel the skin off the fish and there was a little more fat than I would have liked. Still a good dish overall and worth trying. I do like that Forks big thing is buying locally from farm to fork. I also got a coffee but I didn't see it on the menu. I knew they had it anyway because what brunch place would've? The coffee itself was a bit too strong and bold. Not my style as I'm a medium body drink but it definitely seemed like a dark roast. I had to soften it was sweetener and creamer. I was a bit shocked to find out that the coffee was $6. They really outta put the item and price on the menu. I dislike when I have to guess at things, especially something as common as coffee. The server did forget my partners coffee though and had to be reminded. I get that we are a large party, but still. We had brunch here a few weeks ago. The Eggs Benedict was very good. I am a die hard Eggs Benedict fan and this one was one of the best I have had in Idaho so far. I stopped by Fork because it was just a short walk from my hotel. I also appreciated their commitment to using locally sourced ingredients, which really came through in the freshness of the meal. I ordered the B.C.S. salad with added avocado, and it was excellent. While planning our Boise weekend getaway, I saw that Fork came highly recommended, so I made a dinner reservation and I'm so glad I did! We were tempted by all the appetizers, but our waiter suggested the smashed burger, which turned out to be the perfect pick. Juicy, flavorful, and served with a generous portion of fries. The standout for me, though, was the asparagus fries, our first time trying anything like that, and we devoured the whole plate. We also shared the grilled cheese fondue that is dipped in tomato soup which was so comforting. The potato salad it came as large wedges of potatoes, which my husband didn't mind one bit since he finished most of it. The bartender ended up being in our server and we had a pretty large table since I joined them. Everybody all ordered different dishes and it all looked to be pretty good. This looks like a really nice place that has a little more of expensive items on the menu. I highly recommend for lunch. From the fresh produce made into a winter grain salad to rainbow trout. This salad has quinoa, farro, kale, red cabbage,dried cranberries, sliced almonds in a peach and bourbon vinagrette. Healthy and delicious! The Idaho rainbow trout is perfect--tender, flaky and tasty. Their signature warm butter cake is very popular for good reason. Vanilla ice cream, fresh fruit, warm butter cake w/berry coulis is dessert gold that just melted in my mouth! The hubby and I were well impressed with the food here and excellent service from Halle. The meal began with an excellent salad. After that it was a rapid decline. Our table ordered two meals. The roast chicken man arrived 20 minutes before the Urban Burger. The burger was literally burned to a crisp, as was the bun. The fries were cold. Service, from the very beginning was slow, despite it being early in a slow evening. We stopped in for dinner while visiting Boise. This is our 2nd time to Fork, we stopped in last year while visiting Boise as well. We arrived about 1 hour before closing and the hostess sat us outside in a booth on their patio. The patio is situated right on the main walkway but is surrounded by foliage and flowers so the people walking by are not a distraction. It's very nice. I didn't catch our servers name but he was attentive and never left us waiting for anything. Unfortunately he must have been having a bad night as he clearly didn't want to be there. He never smiled and was a bit impatient when we asked questions about the menu. With that being said, he wasn't a bad server. Everyone has a bad day. We were not super hungry as we stopped at another restaurant prior for drinks and appetizers so we decided to share several plates. We ordered Moscow mules and a glass of wine to start. I will say the wine pour was a little small for the price of the wine. Asparagus fries- crispy and cooked perfectly. Delicious. Tomato Basil Fondue & Grilled Cheese - Delicious. I loved the way they serve the melted grilled cheese sandwich. Wagyu sliders. Really tasty but they were overcooked a bit. Fresh soft bun as well. Shrimp and grits. We came here for a birthday celebration tonight, a Sunday. There were four couples. We were sat right away (I believe we had reservations) at a nice corner half booth. It has a nice ambience. Inside are a combination of booths, half booths, low and bar height tables, dark wood, with a nice semi-circular bar with a nice, semi-circular metal decoration that was filled with artificial plants, wine bottles, and small kegs. There was a wine rack accent wall on the right. It is located in downtown Boise at the corner of Idaho and 8th St along restaurant row. Our server was Matthew B, and while he was a nice guy, he did not provide good service. It took him a while to get to our table, then after we ordered drinks, it took too long to get them. We then ordered appetizers but he didn't take our dinner orders. We waited too long for the appetizers, and then we ordered our dinners, which also took a while to come out. Runners brought our food out, not Matthew. He did not to refill the women's sodas, we had to ask. He did bring another glass of wine to one of the men, but that was because he was signaled. He did not ask the other people that ordered beer and cocktails if they wanted another. We never had our water glasses refilled. We told him about the birthday celebration, and all he said was, if we ordered dessert, he would put a candle on it. What? Most places serve a complimentary dessert for a birthday celebration. He also took too long to bring us our checks. We're all good tippers. We gave him 15%; he didn't deserve it. The food was OK, not spectacular, but overpriced. As far as the apetizers, the asparagus fries were not that flavorful, though nicely crusted. The cauliflower was just OK, likewise the chicken wings. I did like the honey and balsamic grilled brussel sprouts. Speaking for my wife and I, she liked the BAM Sammy. The side salad was average. I ordered the Urban Burger. While the patty was cooked well, it was small. I can get a bigger, better burger that costs less at any number of restaurants we frequent, including a few near us (we live in Star). I did like the fries. Crispy, with I believe Parmesan cheese coating them. My friend said his smoked salmon salad was just OK. We found it very loud, and difficult to hear each other in conversation. Needless to say, we have no plans to return to Fork. read more

Stopped in at 4:45 pm on a Wednedsay for a bite, without reservations. The host sat us at a nice table, eloquently and politely mentioning that the table was reserved for 5:45 pm. We experienced a great meal and fantastic service. First, we shared an order of crispy and herby black truffle fries. My dining partner had the crispy chicken sandwich with chips and I ordered the king salmon sandwich, upgrading from chips to the house salad. Look at the picture! Can't you see the freshness? And the fresh herbed sauces served with the fries, chicken, and salad were wonderful. The chicken was juicy with a fresh potato bun. The salmon in the sandwich was cooked to perfection. The roll was soft with the perfect crusty chew. The side salad was fresh, with perfectly pickled onions. Our server, Becca B., was exceptional! She was super-friendly, professional, offered thoughtful recommendations, and stopped to check on us at all the right times. A true pro! I'd definitely come back again. We shared a couple of bottles of wine - they have a decent selection of new world reds to pick from in my opinion. For food, we shared the Brussel sprouts, the asparagus fries and the tomatoes basil fondue. All of them were honestly excellent! Id order any of those apps again. I think the fondue needed more bread and Erin was very quick with replenishing our table when asked. The entrees were underwhelming overall in my opinion, hence the missed 5th star. I tried the rainbow trout - a dish that's popular on the menu and they use locally sourced fish which I was excited about. The fish itself was amazingly fresh but not prepared well - under seasoned and lacked any kind of acid it was really screaming for. The orzo it came on was also lack luster and maybe a tad bit too oily. I feel like they didn't do justice to the fish when it came with the accompaniments and the seasoning. I had to ask for a side of lime which did make it better with salt and pepper. Folks that ate their special Wagyu burger were also pretty underwhelmed. I think our server made it sound more awesome than it was lol. The special tacos were the same - sounds awesome but we're okay ish. These were pork belly Asian inspired tacos. For dessert, the butter cake was okay but the salted caramel bread pudding was a home run. Tasted delicious with the ice cream on top, I'd order than again - especially decedent. I was thoroughly disgusted by fork except for the expedient and kind staff. I'm a classically trained chef, friends with many local vendors, and a sommelier and found this place to be more cosplaying fine dining and supporting local but utterly lacking in the skill and quality to back it up, it's for people who want appearance over substance. My bullet point grievances to keep this short would be.. there is only 3 mediocre local wine selections when they are a 30 minute drive from hundreds, almost every local support claim is for well established multimillion dollar corporations, there is only one mixed drink on the menu that was not acidic or had candy in it, food was bland and improperly cooked from noodles stuck together to broken sauces and burnt bread, salads were plated for pictures not ease of eating. If you want to really support local, buy from vendors who actually need support and highlight Idaho's wine region. read more

Love the style of this restaurant - a nice mix of historic architecture and modern wood & dark moodiness. The service was excellent! We were pleased to be seated right away, our server answered all our questions and we were checked on often by multiple staff. We ordered the Sleeping Dragon mocktails and crisped Brussel Sprouts to start. They were both delicious with nice twists on the traditional flavor profiles. My mom ordered the braised short rib which was very tender and she very much enjoyed the hearty texture of the mashed potatoes. I had the SBC salad with smoked salmon & arugula - wow!
