This is one of those places locals LOVE and outsiders like me discover thanks to YELP!!! If you have only one breakfast in Boise, ID this is the place to go!!! Wish they opened earlier and I think A LOT of people do to. I came two minutes after they opened and joined a pretty long long (that moved quickly and I was seated in minutes. Host asked if I had been here before (I had not) and told me I was in for a real treat! She wrote my name on a tiny white board and handed it to my server. Server did a great job getting to know me and went over the menu. Fun menu with lots of options. They make most everything from scratch and use fresh quality ingredients. I went with the Country Benedict and added bacon bits on top. Order was HUGE and I could only eat HALF. Server told me I could have asked for a "half order." While waiting for my order my server dropped by with a free hot "scone." I didn't think it was a scone (more like a Mexican "sopapillas" but it was hot and delicious and I polished it off! I was explaining to my kids what Michelin Star is and how Idaho does not have any. My kids asked what about Egg Mann, and it dawned on me yes just because it's not official doesn't mean it's not great. So this is my unofficial declaration that Egg Mann is Michelin Bib Gourmand worthy. We love their free appetizer Beignet, and apparently you can order extra ones for $3 each. Their Hangover Hashbrown is amazing with crispy hashbrown mixed with cheese, and their Country Benedict is delicious and huge. Robbed! I was absolutely floored by how expensive this place has gotten. My friends were also shocked. It's a hole in the wall place with all thrift store decor including dishes but the cost is more than any restaurant on 8th street downtown! I ordered 2 piece french toast ($10.75), needed just a few slices of avacado for baby and ($3.50!!! For 1/2 avacado!), then I was charged $2 for about 2 quarter size squirts of whip cream instead of butter. I even asked if my bill was correct. $20 breakfast that left me with a really bad taste in my mouth. My friends ordered breakfast burrito and it was a burrito on a plate, period. No salsa, no sour cream, no garnish, just flopped on the plate bare. Salsa was $4 extra...normally a fixing that accompanies a burrito. Can't imagine what they charge for ketchup if you order french fries. Avoid this place. If your in the area go to The Griddle instead, it's at least a better location and cleaner restaurant. They say everything is homemade but my french toast was just average sliced bread, not baked in house or brioche or thick sliced. Just IHOP quality. read more

Egg Mann and Earl has been on my go to list for a hot minute. It's not the closest to where we live but we made the drive over. Waking in, I was pretty surprised at all the fun and funky decor. I didn't know what to expect but what I saw very unexpected. It was a pretty cool waiting area. All these different and fun things to look at. You couldn't be bored in that kind of waiting area. Too much stuff to play with. Our server greeted us at the hostess stand. She asked for our names which threw me off since there wasn't a wait. Come to find out, she wrote our names on a little erase board. I thought it was pretty cool! We got sat at a neat booth. There were drawings and different wall art all over. The dining area is just as crazy and fun as the waiting area. Random art work, signs and different dining sets. Chase, our server, guided us through the menu and grabbed our drinks. Coffee was on point today. For breakfast I ordered the Country Benedict. My daughter got the Huevos Racheros with a side of hashbrowns. While we were waiting for our food, we were given a complimentary scone. The scone came out hot! It was coated in cinnamon, sugar and powdered sugar. That baby was delicious! It could have used a dab of butter but without the butter it was still yummy. Shortly after we finished our scone, our food came! Holy cow, my Country Benedict was massive! My daughter's huevos rancheros looked delicious! The hashbrowns were a pretty golden brown. It all looked good! Digging into my meal, one word to describe it is dense. The biscuits was huge but very dense. And then you add a very thick country gravy on top which made it overwhelming thick. I might have enjoyed it if the gravy wasn't so thick. The sausage was savory. My eggs were cooked perfectly. But with all of our combined, it was just too much. Chase did a great job serving us today. She was very attentive and sweet. The restaurant itself is so fun and different. It's not your typical breakfast joint which makes it that much more neat. Overall, it wa a fun experience! If you love Breakfast like I do this is the place. Service by Ms. Chase was unrivaled. She helped navigate the menu and I was blown away with my food. The bacon was perfection and eating it makes you feel like you are cheating at something, just not sure what. Strip mall setting with an eclectic wall decor that just makes the setting even fun and interesting. Top it all off with a complimentary scone thats is what every scone should be. I'm not sure why I haven't reviewed this place yet - it is my favorite restaurant in Idaho. The service is unmatched, food is freshly made and always delicious, and the decor and ambiance make me smile every time I'm there. The staff always make a special effort to make you feel welcomed and they know their menu inside and out, from house made sausage and hollandaise sauce to their specials that come around like fried chicken and waffles (pictured) and chicken fried steak. In town from California...Wanted to find a breakfast place for specialty foods. Wow. We couldn't have found a better place. From the time we walked in Oliver welcomed us with open arms and a sign that was put on our table. He guided us and he was spot on. They give you a scone first which is complimentary. Wow again. Its like having a very large apple biegnet from New Orleans. Just delicious. Hubby ordered the Walrus and I ordered the veggie Benedict and added salmon. I really wish we lived here. Table and booth seating; we sat in a booth and had plenty of room. -I ordered the breakfast burrito. -Wife ordered French Toast. -Daughter ordered Chocolate Chip Pancakes We probably waited less than 10 minutes for food. Your breakfast starts with a complimentary scone which is very mush like the beignets of New Orleans, it's big enough to share. Then the menu is so full of goodness you're salivating before long. The best service and food!! Be prepared to wait, we came on a weekend and the wait was about an hour. Just give them your phone number and they will text you when your table is almost ready and give you about ten minutes to arrive. We killed time going to the Starbucks right across and walking around. They have a waiting area with lots of seating, interesting decor, and things to play with / take pictures with. All the employees were so kind, they are like a family and they treat their customers like family as well. The welcome card on our table was so cute too. Shortly later she brought a scone, fried bread with powdered sugar, so warm and yummy. The meals do take a while to arrive so the scone is a nice filler. Inside out: there is usually ample parking from what I've seen, just maybe not incredibly close. It's in a strip mall for the exterior. Inside is wild decoration, but absolutely eclectic and what I would say is "thrift" or "goblin" decor in a good way! It's very comfortable. Service: depending on when you go, you're gonna wait. Everyone is friendly and they have a great system to get people in. We went yard sailing while we waited because if you go during peak times- you'll have time. So don't go starving and grumpy. The staff was incredible fun and seemed at least from the outside to be getting along and working well together. Food: This is some of the best breakfast- is it expensive? Yeah kinda, but it is delicious. The salmon Benny is just incredible. They smoke their own salmon and I wanted to lick the hollandaise sauce off the plate.
