It's street parking. There is outside seating but we sat inside. Decor inside is pretty with wooden tables and chairs. It's clean inside and outside. Service is very friendly. Food was good too. I thought I ordered Eggs Benedict but I was given two eggs without hollandaise sauce instead. I didn't complain. I still ate it and everything was delicious. For me, wild root is a tried and true Boise staple. I have been here time and time again and each time I walk away happy, satisfied, and full. Their menu changes with the season but some of my favorites are the avocado toast with an egg over easy add steak, and their seasonal sweet potato hash. The flavors are fresh fruits and vegetables are incorporated throughout their menu and their dishes. The restaurant feels welcoming with beautiful decor, light and airy windows an amazing staff. Wild Root feels like a little Indy breakfast brunch and lunch spot. I am never disappointed. I always recommend this place to my friends. 10 out of 10 every single time. read more

Love this, great patio and great menu! I will say I am plant-based, pescatarian actually but more plant-based. Always looking for something in my wheel house that has a great patio and a place I would enjoy hanging out! This is it! Very nice interior but also along 8th with a nice sized patio out on the main. Good people watching with better food! I love the menu, lots of things that I would order on any normal day! I did the brunch wild mushroom skillet. This had a great selection of veggies, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, carrots, onions..all with some nicely done scrabbled eggs on top (they had a scrabbled tofu option but eggs are an OK things for me)...great flavors, extremely well done and full of flavor! My wife and I came here for dinner. Our first impression was: This is an inviting, modern, and clean restaurant. There was one single cider on the drink menu, which I took. My wife had a vague request for a non-alcoholic cocktail. They came up with something that she really enjoyed. We both had the Ahi tuna tacos. The different flavours just exploded in our mouth and wowed our palate. We'll be coming back for a repeat. We had to move inside because the bees were swarming us but the staff was very accommodating. I've been to Wild Root on a couple of occasions now. Once for brunch and another time for dinner. I love that the food is all organic and the eggs are cage free. The produce was all incredibly fresh. On my first visit, I ordered the avocado toast with scrambled eggs. The avocado toast consisted of an inordinately long piece of grilled ciabatta bread with an ice cream scoop of smashed avocado placed directly in the middle. The bread was served over a smattering of creamy vegan herb sauce. It was ridiculously difficult to eat. It was beautiful, to be sure. But, as it turned out, it was all form and no function. The flavor was just ok. On my second visit, we ordered their roasted brussels sprouts to start things off. They were a little too lightly roasted for my taste. For my main dish, I got the garden pasta which consisted of zucchini noodles (cold and entirely un-seasoned) topped with sauteed seasoned vegetables (fresh and quite flavorful!) and micro greens. The service was very slow on both of our visits (would definitely be reticent to go here on a lunch hour due to the length of time it took us to get our meals). The prices are high (expected for organic). Ultimately, this place is just not my jam. read more

I remember visiting Wild Root several years ago and leaving a fan. Their menu has changed a little over the years. I wanted to try their dinner selections so I made reservations online for two. My expectations were high. Unfortunately, Wild Root didn't quite live up to the hype. My husband and I started with a Chamomille Julep (Bulleit rye, muddled mint, chamomille honey, crushed ice and angostura bitters, $16.00) and Lavender Daydream (Empress 1908 gin, house lavender syrup, lavender bitters, Lillet Blanc, aquafaba, lemon juice and lavender flowers, $15.00), respectively. My husband's drink was nothing but a splash of rye engulfed in a pile of ice. It didn't taste like anything special, it might as well have been on the rocks (more like boulders). He was unimpressed as I was with my lavender concoction. Not only was it super sour, but it hardly tasted like lavender which was a shock considering how much of it went into the drink according to the menu. I didn't even want to finish it. After the disappointing drinks I was really hoping the food would come in clutch. However, it fell way short of what I expected. My husband ordered the Garden Pasta (zucchini noodles, garlic, sautéed seasonal vegetables, micro greens and toast, $18.00). He didn't mind his dish too much but found it unimpressive. It was rather bland and the portion size was extremely tiny. I had a couple bites and liked the tenderness of the noodles but other than that the dish doesn't really have much going for it. My dish was the Summer Risotto (creamy risotto, asparagus, artichoke hearts, parmesan, confit garlic, kale, blueberries, lemon zest, smoked salt and micro greens, $20.00) with a salmon filet (+$10.00). It started out okay, but as I ate my way through I found way too many artichoke hearts for my liking. Like it was full of them. Additionally, the more I ate, the more I found myself disliking the flavor more and more. I just don't think the ingredients blended well together. The blueberries were a great, unique addition but overall I was just not a fan. I don't think it's a bad dish, just not for me. Service was insanely slow but I think that just had to do with them being short staffed. There were just three servers that evening. Ours seemed uninterested in answering any of our questions about the drinks and menu but I get it. It's rough right now. read more

Great atmosphere here, very large portion sizes & friendly staff here would totally come back on a daily basis if it weren't for us not being locals & living in Colorado! They keep this restaurant super clean too! As a side note, be prepared to walk down the stairs to use the restroom and they only have regular side street parking by the meter here too. read more

The food was really yummy. i was sad because I only ate half the Forager sandwich and took the other half along with us on our adventures Sadly, by the time we got home very late at night it ended up not getting eaten. Just had brunch here and it exceeded all expectations. Service was exceptional as was the atmosphere. Bone broth and macchiato was tasty. The signature wild mushroom skillet with scrambled eggs was perfection, perfectly cooked and seasoned. We'll be back next time we're in Boise! read more

4.5* for ambiance 3.5* for service 3* for food We came for an early supper and had no issues getting seated indoors (it was hot) - they do have patio seating as well, if you want to people watch. We were catching up with family, so took a little while to order, which seemed to be a bit of a bother to the server. We started with drinks, which were good - not too strong or too weak. Moved on to the app course, which included some ingredients not on the menu. Luckily, after finally flagging down our server (who was not busy, just chatting in the back), we confirmed it was safe for one party member to eat. Good, but not outstanding. Mains came out and all agreed they were on the heavy side of salted. I could barely eat my fish and didn't bother with the rest of my purple rice because of the salt levels. Even though I'm more sensitive, other party members also said their dishes were too salty. We decided not to get dessert here and left after paying. It ended up around $50pp with tax and tip to split 1 app and have 1 drink and 1 main each. A bit much, especially for what we got, but in a good place for people watching and a bit fancy if that's your thing. read more

I was a little confused. No lunch or dinner on Saturday and Sundays. Just a limited brunch menu. The food was good though and they did accommodate my plant based diet. I had a tofu scramble skillet, with a variety of vegetables, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, etc. I came on a weekend and I kind of wish I would have known it was just brunch. Not sure if the party I was with enjoyed it as much as I did. We'll try and figure out when the regular lunch or dinner menus come out during the week. Not bad. Passing through town, the options seemed fairly limited in the area we stopped for good vegan food. We found this spot and were excited by the delicious looking food and high marks, but unfortunately that was the end of it. We sat down and ordered the vegan Huevos Rancheros to go. Lets fast forward 30 minutes, the waitress forgot to put the order in. Once in, it was another 40 minutes before we got our order. The place was busy, but the turnover rate of customers as we sat there was nil, so no new orders coming in as we were there. It's one thing to wait for a long time then get an outstanding meal, but when it's lackluster, well, then it just feels like a giant waste of time. The Huevos Rancheros dish looked stellar, but with one bite of very undercooked beans, that illusion was shattered. Now looking back at other reviews, sadly this seems to be a regular problem for this dish. The plus side, most of the staff seemed friendly and as we watched the kitchen, they seemed to be a well organized team. Would I try this place again, given the chance? Probably, but would make sure we had several hours to spare. read more

My family and I thought we would try this place on Mother's Day. My Son ordered their "Little Devil" the server asked if he also wanted potatoes and he agreed. When he got his sandwich, the potatoes were ON the sandwich. His girlfriend ordered the French Toast along with over-easy eggs. The French Toast was well plated, and tasted fine. The eggs on the other hand were scrambled. I ordered a simple breakfast. I chose the Eggs which came with a choice of protein (I chose bacon), a piece of bread, some potatoes, and I also had the optional avocado. The avocado was a half avocado peeled and placed on the plate. The bacon didn't come originally. They gave me chicken sausage patties. They did correct that and brought me two pieces of bacon. My youngest ordered the Vegan Huevos Rancheros and received a HUGE portion. So much so, they had to eat everything with their fork, no way to eat it with the two tortillas that were buried underneath everything. They were pleased with their meal. read more

I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Wild Root in downtown Boise, and I feel compelled to share my negative encounter. Despite its promising location on 8th street and an inviting patio, the abysmal service I received left a lasting impression that I cannot overlook. My companions and I arrived at Wild Root with high hopes of enjoying a pleasant meal in their charming ambiance. We were immediately drawn to the cute patio and was seated at a table outside. Little did we know that our excitement would soon turn into sheer frustration and disappointment. To our surprise, we sat at that table for a staggering 30 minutes without even catching a glimpse of a server. It seemed as if the staff were invisible, completely oblivious to our presence and the fact that we were patiently waiting to be attended to. Growing impatient, we decided to take matters into our own hands and ventured inside to find a server. Unfortunately, our efforts to seek assistance were in vain, as we were blatantly ignored by the staff. It was disheartening to witness their indifference and lack of regard for us as paying customers. It was only after we were about to leave that we managed to grab the attention of a server who was busy helping other customers. She assured us that she would find someone to assist us promptly. However, despite her promise, no one ever came to our table to address our needs. We waited patiently, hoping for some semblance of customer service, but it became abundantly clear that our patronage was of little importance to Wild Root. Frustrated and disrespected, we made the decision to leave, as we were unwilling to invest any more time and energy in a place that showed such blatant disregard for its customers. We visited for dinner last night and my husband got food poisoning. He had the Mac n cheese with chicken. Overall, even without the resulting illness, it was a disappointing experience. There were limited options for vegans and vegetarians (misleading marketing on their website), and the flavors were mediocre at best. Not to mention, the prices were astronomical. Our server didn't know or understand any of the menu. He had to check with other staff members for any questions we asked. We thought maybe he was new, but weren't sure. I hope to save others time, illness, and their wallets. Thoroughly disappointed, as this isn't the quality we expect at Boise establishments, especially on our treasured 8th street. read more

I've been looking for a good brunch place in Boise, and I really wanted to like Wild Root, but unfortunately, this isn't it... Service was poor and inattentive. Our server was busy chatting with another patron at the bar, and we had to ask other waitstaff for service while our server was preoccupied. Other waitstaff were helpful, but we waited far too long for a drip coffee warm up and our check. When the check finally came, our server didn't bring a pen, and I had to go up to the register and ask for one so I could sign the receipt. As far as food goes, the beans in the huevos were undercooked, and the whole dish was cold. Also, both yolks of the poached eggs in the portobello benedict were hard and the veggie mix was cold. Food looked amazing, and flavors were good, but ice cold food and overcooked eggs are a big no from me. Overall, pretty disappointing for a meal that was more than $50 for two. The huge outdoor seating area is COVID safe and provides a perfect view of the pedestrian friendly district of downtown Boise. Perhaps Boise's most creative bartender is Morgan at Wild Rose. Did you know Figs can Fly? Need a Sweater for this Weather? Morgan creates delicious concoctions. Ruby our fabulously friendly and helpful server, and Tony and Jarrell in the back, put together a couple of impressive meals using mushrooms, zucchini pasta, a medley of vegetables, and perfectly seared tuna. A delicious deli-type restaurant with new takes on standbys. During a recent visit I ordered the mushroom benedict - delicious and they scrambled my eggs since I don't "do" runny egg yolk! Hubs ordered the Huevos Rancheros with chirozo, which was really 3 excellent tacos with great salsa and fresh avocado. When he comments on the salsa, I know its special. The only challenge in visiting Wild Root is finding the time when it isn't so crowded that you have a long wait. We made this our weekly Sunday Brunch at 1 pm, and it was perfect timing. Love this place, delicious fresh food, stylish atmosphere, you can tell the staff and management take pride in what they do!

Last night we waited over an hour for our food. The waitress finally admitted she forgot to send in the order. Then she said it would take another 15 minutes for the food. When it came one dish was wrong. When we asked the server how long it would take for the meal to be corrected she said, I have no idea and walked away. The manager did give us a 20% discount to make up for the long wait. The food was ok, nothing to rave about. I know it's hard to get good workers these days, but common courtesy should be the minimal standard. Our waitress never returned even when we asked for the bill. I think she was too embarrassed to face us. The manager finally stopped by with the bill. Looking around most of the other tables were experiencing the same issues. Run, don't walk, to Wild Root. Yes, it's that good. Are you running yet? I'll wait. I guess either I haven't properly convinced you, or you are just plain lazy. Either way, you will be pleased when you eventually get around to enjoying a meal here. The menu isn't overdone. There's not 10,000 choices, and yet there's plenty to please the pickiest of eaters. You want to have lunch with your vegetarian friend, your raw food enthusist co-worker, your man vs. food meat loving godfather? You can do that here, and they will all love it. The avocado Banh Mi sandwich with candied pork belly is so good that two weeks later, I'm still dreaming about it. It is simply a perfect sandwich: savory, crunchy, creamy, spicy and a half dozen other delicious adjectives that end in "y". You can get it with tofu or chicken, but the pork belly is so outrageously flavorful, that if you are even a minor fan of bacon do not pass it up. Even the green salad I had on the side was expertly dressed perfection. Did I even mention how good the iced black tea is? How do they make every detail taste so good? My guess is dark magic. Service is great. Friendly and helpful with suggestions. Atmosphere is cool and chic without being hipster annoying. You can hang here with friends or your grandma. They've figured it out.
