    Lush London fog tea
    Casey M.

Adored this place! I was visiting town and came by on a recommendation from my friends who live up the street from here. The crisp toasted/fried baguette with the tofu scramble was absolutely divine, as was the London Fog tea latte. I will be coming back!

Ahi tuna tacos and crisp cider.

My wife and I came here for dinner. Our first impression was: This is an inviting, modern, and clean restaurant. There was one single cider on the drink menu, which I took. My wife had a vague request for a non-alcoholic cocktail. They came up with something that she really enjoyed. We both had the Ahi tuna tacos. The different flavours just exploded in our mouth and wowed our palate. We'll be coming back for a repeat. My wife mentioned the great service she got, and that the waitress went out of her way.

    Queen bee cocktail

We enjoyed our breakfast here. My wife got the Avocado Toast and queen bee cocktail and I got the steak & eggs and bone broth. My favorite was the bone broth, amazing. We had to move inside because the bees were swarming us but the staff was very accommodating. Would've been 5 starts but... one of the staff members had their dirty shoes on the counter to assist in tying them.

    Eggplant

I ordered the eggplant something. I had asked the waitress what the recommended between this and some mushroom dish. Without any reservation, so mentioned this selection. The salad was great. Whatever dressing they use is amazing. The eggplant in the other hand I did not like. Had more bitterness than I would have liked and the stuffing didn't seem to have enough constrain textures. Just felt to mushy.

Went to brunch on Sunday. It's a nice, clean and cute spot. We were seated quickly, had friendly service, and our tasty food came out quickly. The almond milk latte was also perfect.

Cheese board (it' got picked at before I took the picture)

My wife and friends came for a drink and appetizer. 3 of us split the cheese board and it did not disappoint, we couldn't finish all the food/cheese. Highly suggest this to share with 3 or 4 people!

I've been to Wild Root on a couple of occasions now. Once for brunch and another time for dinner. I love that the food is all organic and the eggs are cage free. The produce was all incredibly fresh. On my first visit, I ordered the avocado toast with scrambled eggs. The avocado toast consisted of an inordinately long piece of grilled ciabatta bread with an ice cream scoop of smashed avocado placed directly in the middle. The bread was served over a smattering of creamy vegan herb sauce. It was ridiculously difficult to eat. It was beautiful, to be sure. But, as it turned out, it was all form and no function. The flavor was just ok. On my second visit, we ordered their roasted brussels sprouts to start things off. They were a little too lightly roasted for my taste. For my main dish, I got the garden pasta which consisted of zucchini noodles (cold and entirely un-seasoned) topped with sauteed seasoned vegetables (fresh and quite flavorful!) and micro greens. The service was very slow on both of our visits (would definitely be reticent to go here on a lunch hour due to the length of time it took us to get our meals). The prices are high (expected for organic). Ultimately, this place is just not my jam.

Great atmosphere here, very large portion sizes & friendly staff here would totally come back on a daily basis if it weren't for us not being locals & living in Colorado! They keep this restaurant super clean too! As a side note, be prepared to walk down the stairs to use the restroom and they only have regular side street parking by the meter here too.

    Perfect eggs!

Just had brunch here and it exceeded all expectations. Service was exceptional as was the atmosphere. Bone broth and macchiato was tasty. The signature wild mushroom skillet with scrambled eggs was perfection, perfectly cooked and seasoned. We'll be back next time we're in Boise!

I remember visiting Wild Root several years ago and leaving a fan. Their menu has changed a little over the years. I wanted to try their dinner selections so I made reservations online for two. My expectations were high. Unfortunately, Wild Root didn't quite live up to the hype. My husband and I started with a Chamomille Julep (Bulleit rye, muddled mint, chamomille honey, crushed ice and angostura bitters, $16.00) and Lavender Daydream (Empress 1908 gin, house lavender syrup, lavender bitters, Lillet Blanc, aquafaba, lemon juice and lavender flowers, $15.00), respectively. My husband's drink was nothing but a splash of rye engulfed in a pile of ice. It didn't taste like anything special, it might as well have been on the rocks (more like boulders). He was unimpressed as I was with my lavender concoction. Not only was it super sour, but it hardly tasted like lavender which was a shock considering how much of it went into the drink according to the menu. I didn't even want to finish it. After the disappointing drinks I was really hoping the food would come in clutch. However, it fell way short of what I expected. My husband ordered the Garden Pasta (zucchini noodles, garlic, sautéed seasonal vegetables, micro greens and toast, $18.00). He didn't mind his dish too much but found it unimpressive. It was rather bland and the portion size was extremely tiny. I had a couple bites and liked the tenderness of the noodles but other than that the dish doesn't really have much going for it. My dish was the Summer Risotto (creamy risotto, asparagus, artichoke hearts, parmesan, confit garlic, kale, blueberries, lemon zest, smoked salt and micro greens, $20.00) with a salmon filet (+$10.00). It started out okay, but as I ate my way through I found way too many artichoke hearts for my liking. Like it was full of them. Additionally, the more I ate, the more I found myself disliking the flavor more and more. I just don't think the ingredients blended well together. The blueberries were a great, unique addition but overall I was just not a fan. I don't think it's a bad dish, just not for me. Service was insanely slow but I think that just had to do with them being short staffed. There were just three servers that evening. Ours seemed uninterested in answering any of our questions about the drinks and menu but I get it. It's rough right now.

Food quality has really gone downhill. Had the chicken curry and there was maybe one or two pieces of chicken and hardly edible at all.

We hoped to grab a patio seat but the patio was packed so we went inside. The inside is dark and decorations are interesting. There is a variety of seating such as high tops, comfortable conversation chairs & tables as well as a booth. It has window seating available as well. We were actually the only people inside the lounge except one person at the bar. I soon realized why everyone was sitting outside after we took a seat and ordered cocktails. The music was so loud we could barely hold a conversation. Regardless, our server Nick was great. He was very attentive and constantly checked in with us for drinks. We ordered a Party Girl Mule, the Chili Gringo Mule and a dirty martini. All were delicious. I prefer my martinis colder and a glass filled to the rim. I felt the martini was lacking volume for the price of the martini. The Mode Lounge patio is located right on the walkway so it looked like a great spot for people watching. We didn't hang out too long as we had a difficult time talking with the loud music but we did like the drinks and our server, Nick. We will stop by again but look for outside seating.

A small window in the door opened and we had to provide a password to gain entry. (Initially our large group had to reserve 3 time slots and we would be seated separately.) I was in the first group. We were let into a small area with floor to ceiling bookcases. Of course there was a book that once pulled, opened a secret door to the bar within. The ambiance was dim lighting and groups of comfortable seating areas. The waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks on the menu. I started with a mocktail that could be made vegan by omitting the egg white. Beautifully presented with a flower design. It was sweet and it was tart. The second drink I got was a cocktail that was smooth with a perfect amount of sweet. My friends got cocktails in their unique glasses. When our next group came through, they were led into a room. After a while, one friend came out to say hello to us. The waiter noticed that we knew each other and told my group to follow him. The room was dimly lit and was furnished with comfortable armchairs and couches. Our third group was able to join us in the room and we were able to mingle seated or standing. The different drinks that were ordered were so cool. A smoky bubble was set on top of a cone shaped glass that resembled an ice cream cone. I had a couple of friends that ordered gin drinks and they were served in a bathtub complete with rubber ducky! This was such a fun and special way to celebrate a friend's birthday! The service was superb!

I've been to several speakeasies around the USA and Gatsby should be the standard of what a…read morespeakeasy should be. No really! Imagine yourself walking through the 8th St promenade in downtown Boise. It's hustling and bustling with people and restaurants that are packed. Then, out of the corner of your eye, you see an alley. It's kinda dark, maybe a little unsettling at first. You see a steel door with a small panel at the top of the door. No door handles but a green lit old stagecoach light, a small wooden sign hanging g just beyond the door with a key on it. Hmmm, strange. In faded sharpie letters it says Knock knock on the metal door, so you knock twice. The panel on the door slides open and they ask for the password. Whoa!!!! Luckily you called ahead to make reservations so they whispered it to you. You give the password and door opens to a tiny little library with a couple of shelves full of books. The hosts welcomes you and you stare at the bookshelf knowing it isn't just a bookshelf but a door. You try pulling on different books guessing which is the right one but after a minute the hostess shows you and you enter a beautiful brick walled 1920s decorated room with seats and dim lights and no windows whatsoever. The artwork is prohibition-era themed. Heck, there's even a stack of wooden barrels that supposedly hold spirits. That is exactly the speakeasy experience you are looking for. We were seated in the boiler room, a private area which had beautiful wooden lockers with glass doors all lit up and full of booze. Books line the wall and there is an old fireplace covered with candles that have melted wax all over the mantle. In the corner is a poker table. Really the perfect vibe for a speakeasy. Glance at the menu and notice their tang of cheaper to very rare and unique spirits, some costing hundreds of dollars for a shot. Whisky, vodka, rum, gin, scotch, bourbon, you name it. But also check out their cocktails. They can even make mocktails if you don't want alcohol. Not only are the drinks unique but so is their presentation. The glades used I've never seen. Some drinks have a printed pattern on them, others come with dry ice that quickly evaporates or a cool smoked filled bubble. The whole experience was just amazing. This is a do not miss opportunity if you like drinks and cool, unique experiences. They even have another room in the back called the Garrison Room which looks like a mineshaft. I just love the thought put into this place. And when you are done, you exit through a nondescript door and exits to a patio area of another restaurant and back out to the promenade. Just a wow experience! So glad I did it.

My husband and I really wanted to like this place! The setting is wonderful and the ambience is…read morereally nice. We had breakfast there this morning and it was just OK. We both got the traditional eggs Benedict... and I ate maybe 15% of my breakfast and just stopped. My husband ate all of his... but mostly because he was just hungry... Much like our Labrador who will eat absolutely anything! Haha. But he said it was only OK. He rated it a 5/10. What he disliked the most was the potatoes. They were fairly hard/tough and tasted like they were fried in old oil and sitting under heat lamps for two hours before we got them. They were very dehydrated as well. For me... The hollandaise sauce was fresh, but had no flavor. It needed more lemon or salt or something. The ham was odd... I'm a little too salty. It seemed like Hillshire Farms sliced ham. Not something you would expect at a nice restaurant in your eggs Benedict. Also, I ordered an Arnold Palmer... And it was so sour that I had to send it back. I poured like a heaping teaspoon of sugar into it, and it didn't even make a difference.... It was that sour. It actually started to make my stomach hurt a little. So I sent it back. And the waitress was very nice, and didn't charge me for it. The service was good... But they cram everyone in there on one side of the restaurant... at least outside. I have no idea why... They have all this space in front of their restaurant and yet they try and cram everybody right next to each other. It was very annoying, and made me just wanna leave. They have many tables on the other side like 10 feet away... But they insisted on cramming everybody into the same small area. And you could tell nobody wanted to be that close to one another. I'm not sure if they do this to make it easier for their servers... Or to make the restaurant look busy. Either way, it's a practice that they really should stop. My advice to the restaurant... Utilize your space outside in front, stop cramming people so close together. When you have to get up and move your chair so someone can get to their table... it's ridiculous! On a positive note... Their coffee was actually really good! Some of the best that we've had in a restaurant in many many years. And I know, I mentioned it above, but I should mention it again... The weight staff was wonderful. From the girl who greeted us at the front podium, to our waitress, and the waitressing training. Everyone was wonderful. So, to end this review... I can only comment on the breakfast. We didn't have anything else there, and maybe it will be good... But I'm not sure if I'm willing to give this place another try. Good luck!
