Cons - I ordered a sandwich to-go, and had to walk to the end of the bar and disturb a patron to sign my credit card bill. Not sure why they didn't just ring me up at the register, where there was actually space for the transaction. Sandwich was half empty and sloppily made, falling apart. . Meh - Food tasted fine, but not outstanding and employees did their job, but not overly friendly. . Conclusion - Would I return? Talk about old school!!! Rudy the Rooster who is on top of the business sign came from another diner from the '60s that closed down. Rudy needed a new home and owner Nick West took him to the top of the sign 8 years ago. Rudy had been shot twice, so the entry and exit wounds had to be fixed. Welcome to Idaho. Inside the building, wait staff who are incredibly pleasant and efficient will take care of you. How many decades they have been there is a secret. The best damn people in the business. The banquettes are really tired. The seat cushions are lumpy and compressed - the seat backs rock when another patron sits behind you. More of the charm of Capri. If it keeps the tattooed, blue and pink hair, body pierced crowd out, then it appears to be working. This is a place that your parents took you to for biscuits & gravy. No kale or sprouts in this building. Speaking of which, check out the photos of the food in the review. Plenty of free parking as it is connected to a motel. This is a huge advantage in a downtown Boise which does not give a damn about cars and parking woes as they tear down more & more buildings and parking lots to create the next generation of tenement (ghetto) apartments. What are the criteria for a great old school coffee shop? Great skilled table service, fast kitchen and plenty of tasty food. The ambiance scores and the cutesy scores that Gen X, Y, Z and Millennials always whine about are not needed here. We had the open-faced beef sandwich covered with mashed potatoes and brown gravy along with a Rueben rye sandwich and a Bloody Mary. Where else can you get this combination of rib-sticking food? There was a side green salad involved as a nod to healthy living. Would we go back? Hell yes. If you are offended that this restaurant does not have a Drag Queen Brunch or that the menu does not have fava beans with goat cheese or rainbow pasta salad with tahini-sesame dressing, then you need to get to another part of Boise or even Portland to eat. read more

Tried Capri for breakfast this morning. I would say that this place is a solid 3, which is very good by my standards. Had the biscuits and gravy with Bacon. Also tried a Maple bacon cinnamon roll as well. Let's just say that the food was very good and served quickly. Big portions too! Our server was very attentive, always coming by with more coffee. The restaurant is clean and comfortable, but small so you may need to wait a bit for a table to open up. Overall good place, would definitely go back. read more

Checked out the Capri today for brunch. Man, was this place crazy busy! Walking into this joint was like walking back in time. Everything was old school. From the decor to seating, everything was vintage. It's a smaller venue so when it's packed like it was today, you're waiting for a bit! We ended up sitting at counter and it was pretty chill. There were a lot of bussers there that helped with drinks and set up. They got us our drinks quickly. They were all nice and helpful. Our server did take a minute to get to us. It was pure chaos there with a full house of guests. It was all good though, we were there to enjoy the moment. Today we ordered the one biscuit special, the bandit breakfast sandwich and a side of cowboy potatoes. The biscuit was hearty and fluffy. It was very soft and fresh. The gravy that covered the biscuit was savory and full of sausage bits. It is very dense so I only was able to finish half of my biscuit. The bacon was a little floppy but still yummy. The cowboy potatoes were good. It's pan fried mashed potatoes with all sorts of goodness on the inside. The bandit breakfast sandwich was toasty and loaded with cheese and sausage. Toasted sourdough, melted cheese and the gooey egg in addition to the sausage made such a good breakfast sammy. My car needed new brakes which take time to put on so I decided I would take a long breakfast and get some work done afterwards. Capri was close to 27th Street Auto and that is how I choose this restaurant. WOW...my breakfast was wonderful. I ordered the Veggie Hashbrowns with bacon. It was so tasty, filling, beautifully prepared, and enough I could take half home. The coffee was great. I drink mine plain so I know how good it is...smooth, just the right strength, and hot! Demma was my server. She is efficient, funny and a pleasure! Demma made sure I had coffee refills & water refills when I needed them. I think I stayed for four hours all total while I waited for my car. Working from this location was easy, I even made phone calls and was able to hear myself talk. Others know and like this restaurant. I went on a Thursday and it wasn't ever totally full from 8am-noon, but for the most part it was usually 75% full and it was obvious most were regulars. As to the Covid protocols - most everyone followed the mask wearing and social distancing. I felt safe. I plan to visit again when I am able. read more

What happens when your flight is delayed by 3+ hours and you don't want to go home?! You feed your cravings and treat yourself to breakfast! Capri is a ways from the Boise Airport but worth the time if you're in the mood for a greasy, old-fashioned diner meal. This is the original location. You can't miss the building. On top of the sign sits a big old rooster overlooking the cityscape. A large poster on the awning reads "Famous Biscuits and Gravy," so naturally that's what I ordered the moment I sat at the bar. And yes, you gotta get it Loaded (fresh baked buttermilk biscuits, country sausage gravy, topped with crispy bacon, fresh cut green onions and cheddar cheese, $8.95/half order). The food came out super quick - not that B&G ever takes long. The smell of bacon and hot gravy had my mouth watering the second it was placed in front of me. There was so much gravy. Personally, I think B&G should be more G&B. There was a generous amount of chopped bacon, which made up for the insane lack of sausage in the gravy. I wish there was a little more cheese, with how much was on my plate I wouldn't have noticed if it was there or not. The green onions were a delicious addition, albeit a bit strong, so be prepared and okay for onion breath the rest of the day. Generous portion sizes, too. I ended eating half my plate and taking the rest to my husband at home. The service was excellent. When I eat outside alone I like to keep to myself by reading articles on my phone and the waitstaff understood. Since I was sitting at the bar they were right there, but never once bothered me. Either way, it was still good, just a little hard is all lol. All my friends enjoyed their breakfasts. None of us had any real complaints about this place. I gave it 4 stars because for such an old place, I didn't expect the prices to be as high as they were. It's in the downtown area, so I know they have to charge a bit more to make their rents. I'm sure the idiots who run the city try everything to get rid of these amazing places. My waffle was like $7 bucks or some shit. Just supporting these old places tho, means so much to me. Boise is quickly becoming a city where they destroy all the history of this great city, just to make room for all their tacky ass new developments.
