They got us seated right away even though it seemed pretty busy on a Sunday morning around 10:30. We got coffee and water and then it was total radio silence for about 15 minutes. There was a very large party sitting near us so it seemed all the attention was on them- maybe they were short staffed? Wooooo if you want good diner food that tastes just like your homemade breakfast, go to Eddie's. The diner on State was closed, so we went to the larger restaurant on Overland. The interior and the staff were so festive and friendly, and the wait was not long at all. I was so impressed with just the basic breakfast. The eggs tasted perfect, and the bacon was just the right amount of crispy. Portions are generous as well - I ate all the hashbrowns. This is a fun spot to bring any family who may be in town for the holidays. My friend got the veggie skillet and loved it! Breakfast food items are good but some of the wait staff are horrible at their jobs. Get seated pretty quickly, coffee and water right away. Waitress takes our order and then the wait starts. A couple comes in about 10 minutes after us. They order and get their food well before we get ours. I should say there were 2 of them and 2 of us also. I see our food in the window and there it sits for over 10 minutes, getting cold. I should also mention the place was not busy at all, about 20 people in the whole place. The best food and customer service! The plates are full, they keep your coffee cup full and they are the friendliest staff we've come in contact with. 5/7/22. Came with my wife and two kids. Ordered a kids breakfast, chicken fried steak breakfast and a cheese omelette. Waited almost 45 min for our food. Non of it was hot, the eggs on all the food were over cooked and non of the cheese in the omelette was melted. How do you over cook an omelette and non of the cheese is melted. The gravy on the chicken fried steak tasted like a bunch of flour with no seasoning. Also while we waited the excessive time our waitress only checked on us twice. We were pleasantly surprised and happy to find Eddie's dining open during this whole Apocalypse thing going on. Sad to see our restaurants suffer, I encourage everyone to support your local restaurants as much as possible. Tonight everyone was very accommodating we are one of two parties in the whole restaurant. Cod fish and chips, they were great, my first time having them here. Ordered the tater tot's and as you can see by the picture the order was huge. Wife ordered her typical Philly sandwich with a huge order of curly fries and Ajuice to dip in. My family and I go to eddie's frequently and the "philly cheese steak" and a side of fries is my go to meal. My cheese steak always comes out flavorful, cheesy with a wonderful aju on the side (which some places don't offer). The french fries are your standard fry, nothing overly outstanding. Something to note is to order them well done or you will be brought a soggier french fry. The service is always wonderful, frequent check ins and very accommodating waiters and waitresses, and for as busy as the place gets very quick and exceptional service. read more

I'm not usually disappointed(how's it possible to screw up an omelet??), but for the cheese to not even be melted...... whaaaaaaa? And raw onions inside.. why would you not sauté the onions? Great breakfast and lunch items. Old style diner feel, a lot of locals dine here. I loved the senior choices. It is a place I stumbled upon while looking for lunch. My waitress was patient and explained a couple of menu items. I rarely find beef liver and onions topped with crispy bacon on menus. The sides were delightful: fresh sautéed veggies, potato option, I had a heaping of delicious mashed. It came with soup or salad and a roll. I was told and have now read that the clam chowder is delicious. Next time. The atmosphere was calming and charming old school diner. This was my first time and I definitely will return for the liver and onions. The breakfast and lunch items are many. I hope to try the breakfast items soonest. A hidden treasure. I took my kids here for a late breakfast before we went on our adventure. Our waitress was friendly and I loved that they served my boys lunch and daughter and me breakfast. Most places will only do one or the other. My eggs were perfect and so was the sausage. My daughter loved her pancakes and orange slice. 2 people told my dad and I that one of the specials was a meatloaf sandwich. We are two of the oddballs who actually like meatloaf sandwiches. So this is an updated review. The first time I came in, I was less than impressed. The service was apathetic, the food was mediocre, and the music was too loud. I was asked back to give them another try and I did. The second experience was much better. When you walk in, the hostess is still not very good. She didn't greet us but she did get us seated quickly enough. She also didn't tell us who our server was or how long we should expect to wait for her. I was not impressed with her customer service. It took about fifteen minutes before our server showed up to take our drink order, but that wasn't a problem for me because I like a little extra time to read over the menu and I could see that they were busier than the last time I came in. If you're the type of person who likes fast service, I might suggest going in the afternoon when they aren't quite so busy. Our waitress was much nicer this time around and brought my toddler's food out early for her because she was getting very fussy waiting. The food took a long time but the waitress checked in frequently and was very sweet to us. So on to the food. I ordered the steak and eggs breakfast. Please keep in mind that this is a diner style restaurant with very low prices. If you're looking for five star organic food, I might suggest a higher end restaurant. That being said, the steak and eggs was decent (marginally better than the skillet I had ordered previously). I ordered medium rare and it came out medium well, but it was seasoned nicely. Was it the nicest cut of steak? Eh, probably not. But for a $9 meal, it sure beats what you'd get at a fast food place for the same price! As usual the portion sizes were large. My husband ordered a burger and he enjoyed it. My daughter ordered pancakes again this time and they came out nicely (last time they were overcooked), so that was better. As for the environment, the music was much lower this time, so that was better (last time they had it blasted so loud that I couldn't hear). The whole restaurant has an old-fashioned diner theme, which I feel like might be more appealing to Idaho natives (I'm from Portland). The biggest appeal of this place is the fact that they give you large portions for being so inexpensive. So I'm not really sure where to rate this restaurant. I wish I could do a 3.75 because that's about where I feel they are. Almost four stars but not quite. Hmm. Last time I gave them two stars, but since the service and food improved, I'll would say it's four stars (averaging out my visits). Overall, a big improvement read more

Came in after an overnight camping trip and all I wanted was a cute diner with good breakfast food. I got one of them (the cute diner) The atmosphere was adorable, very retro. It had a nice family feeling and the elderly people who eat there made my day. There was a short wait, which we used to decide what we wanted to order. I ordered the 'famous' rib eye steak and eggs. And my boyfriend got the eggs Benedict. Food which we didn't get for 30+ minutes. I was practically dying and was expecting at least a "sorry for the wait". But nope. I wish I had ordered just hash browns and eggs. If you order the steak and eggs, don't get it medium rare unless you're a vampire and enjoy eating blood soaked meat. Hometown diner it's been here in Boise forever. They serve all the basic standards that every other diner serves. The food is decent and the prices are good. The service is hit-and-miss but it's in an excellent location. You will find that it is home cooking and has a regular following for a reason. Their breakfasts are great, and they have good coffee!
