There always seem to be quite a few flying around, and sometimes you feel like you have to fight them for your food. LOL! I really wish they could find a way to get that under control because it definitely takes away from the dining experience. Other than that, we enjoy coming here. This place is phenomenal and seriously one of the best breakfast places in all of Idaho. I hesitate to say that because there can definitely be a wait because of its popularity, but facts are facts. My wife and I went to Moe Joe's for breakfast recently and man was it good. I ordered the chicken fried steak and was stunned at the amount of food. Where to start. The steak was incredibly tender and enormous. The homemade biscuit was flaky and perfectly baked. The sausage gravy was meaty and flavorful. And the crispy hashbrowns seemed to cover half the plate. Then there are the house-made jellies. Who does that and how can I get more! The service was prompt and friendly with a great wait staff that made everything easy. The vibe of the restaurant is "friendly neighborhood spot" and feels like home. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. These folks know how to do breakfast right and I cannot wait to go back.

We had friends visiting from out of town, so after taking them to see the Idaho State Capitol, we walked over to FORK for lunch. It's an easy walk from the Capitol to the restaurant, which made it the perfect place to take our visitors. The food and drinks were oh-so-delicious! I've dined both inside and outside, and although the interior is beautiful, we decided to enjoy the lovely Idaho weather and sit on the patio. The service was on point, and they even brought out a water bowl for our fur babies without us having to ask! Such a thoughtful touch. Thank you so much, FORK! We'll be back again soon!

And after finding out that Blue Bench Brunchette and Biscuits and Hogs were all affiliated, I made a point not to spend a dime at any of those businesses. I recently found out that Blue Bench is under new management. Knowing that this joint has new owners, I was totally down to give it a shot. New management means new expectations and service. I was done doing labs at the hospital. I told my husband let's go get breakfast and we made our way in. I love love love how darling this venue is. It's bright, fun and girly. I adore the decor. It's a smaller venue so the space is cute and dainty. Even though it's a smaller venue, tables and booths are nicely spaced out. You're not on top of each order. I can imagine this place being crazy on the weekends so I'm happy we decided to try this place out on a Monday. It was chill. Our server got some coffee and apple juice started for us while we looked over the menu. Everything looked so good! For brunch my husband got the Brunch trio. He picked cinnamon roll French toast, a cinnamon roll and some eggs. I got the sunrise sampler with cinnamon roll French toast. I had to try a little bit of everything. I also snagged a side of country gravy for my potatoes. Food came out really fast and it all looked fantastic! The cinnamon roll French toast was so fragrant. My husband's cinnamon roll looked divine. And the sunrise sampler was all about business! It was hearty! If you ever eat here, the cinnamon roll French toast is a must! It's crispy on the outside topped with butter and cinnamon sugar dust. The inside is soft and warm. Killer good! I did take a bite of my husband's cinnamon roll. It was mehhh. But I think if it was served warm, it would have been that much better. It was cold, dry and stiff. The bacon and sausage on my plate were cooked perfectly! My eggs were great and the potatoes were tasty! I do wish that the country gravy was not lumpy. I couldn't get over the lumps in the gravy from it sitting. I had about a couple spoons of it and couldn't eat it. It looked esthetically displeasing. Breakfast was good. Aspen did a decent job taking care of us. The venue is super charming. But the cinnamon roll was cold and honestly tasted like it wasn't freshly baked. The country gravy was lumpy and not very hot. It sucked to pay for a side of it and not enjoy it. Overall our visit was great. I don't know when we will be back but the cinnamon roll French toast will be a must have the next time we come in.

If you have gift cards you can use them at St. Lawrence Gridiron or Rustica, two other Boise downtown restaurants with the same owners. From the letter on door: "As many know, there has been a significant slowdown in consumer spending, especially in restaurants starting late 2024. We've done our very best to keep prices in line with what makes sense to cover costs and provide full benefits for our amazing staff," the letter said. "However, with sales down across all entities this year, we must re-evaluate our operations and make the necessary difficult decisions to be a sustainable business. Also, for the first time in many years, we recently lost two key people in our organization, and they both were a large part of what made Wild Root special. Last, we are heading into the slower, winter months. Instead of scrambling to keep the doors open, we are going to shut it down to evaluate everything."

I came here for a late lunch around 2 pm after arriving in Boise. They weren't crowded at this point but business wasn't dead either. My waitress was very friendly. Inside has a lived-in, intimate feel, but it was pretty dark, so much that I wasn't sure they were actually open as I was opening the door. I had the French dip sandwich with a side of tomato basil soup. The sandwich was delicious and tasted homemade in the best way. The "meat" of the sandwich was seitan. I don't THINK it was a perfect meat replica (but I've never had a real French dip), but it was very flavourful. I loved the flavour and the thick cut of their bread, but it didn't have much structure and fell apart easily as I was eating which made the sandwich very messy. The tomato basil soup was a little different. It was slightly creamy but brothy and a little chunky - not a smooth puree. Again, it tasted great and was nice and light, which was a good contrast to the very rich sandwich. It was a little slow, especially considering they weren't that busy. I didn't really mind since I wasn't on a schedule, but this is something to be aware of - don't come here for a quick meal. Not cheap, but worth it for the quality.
