A friend and I met here for coffee and a pastry. The service was friendly, I had an iced caramel macchiato and he had a latte. We shared a pumpkin bar pastry that was moist and delicious. I loved the vibe here it was chill and relaxing, I specifically remember one of my favorite songs by Mazzy Starr playing, which I really enjoyed. I always find the service isnt very great here. the workers arent very friendly sometimes. I get it they are human but dang. when its busy its like they just throw the drink at you and send you off. its not very pleasing. I love the treats and drinks here. their matcha is top tier. its great to walk around and look at the gifts when they aren't too busy, sometimes it gets a bit loud but thats okay it quiets down. read more

While visiting friends for the holiday, we went to the City of Caldwell's Winter Wonderland Festival to see the skating rink and light festival. We stopped by the Flying M Coffeeshop for a festive holiday drink before we walked around to see the lights. Unfortunately the only thing festive were the adorable decorations for sale on the wall! I completely understand that the crowds were big for the festival, but they seemed to have it completely staffed with at least 6-8 people behind the counter. But every single employee was grouchy that night- they should have been issued a Grinch Tshirt as the uniform of the day! It took over a half an hour to get two coffees (that was after finally placing our order)- which BTW cost us over $16!!! When the coffee was finally set on the counter (you had to ask several times which one was yours as they did not interact with the customers at all) it was stone cold. This was not the holiday experience I was anticipating, and it actually gave me a bad first impression of the town of Caldwell. I hope it was just a bad night, but if you are a business participating in the festival, you should be better prepared, and maybe training your employees in customer service. read more

Flying M is an Idaho local staple with 3 locations: Downtown Boise, Nampa, and this one in the Indian Creek Plaza in Caldwell. They have it all here- fairly priced coffee, pastries, and a gift shop. I actually highly recommend checking this spot out for gift shopping- I recently picked up an insulated cup with artwork from a local artist on it! What really makes this location special is the sense of community and social consciousness that Flying M has established. There is a Community Fridge and members of the community can get a free snack pack- no questions asked. They have also partnered with the Boise period project to supply free feminine health products. Flying M also has great sustainable practices established in all of their locations, not to mention their sustainable to-go cups are adorable! I'm usually an iced drink kinda gal, but with the snow and ice skating rink outside when I went- I got a medium lavender latte with soy milk. I felt really cute walking around and checking out the other businesses in the plaza with my cute little hot latte. I am 50 years old, hand a lot of coffee. Flying M's hot caramel latte is incredible. High, thick foam that I dream about at night. The caramel is subtle and not overpowering. My favorite pastry is the almond croissant. Very generous with the filling, with a flaky, almondy goodness. As for the previous review talking about left wing politics, I am baffled. All their decorations and art, the vibe, is not political at all. I guess you can find hate in anything if you look hard enough. Love the coffee and the atmosphere. Love the accepting nature of all the Flying M coffee shops in the valley. Not thrilled about how the brown haired girl with glasses talked to my wife tonight at about 2130. When my wife was trying to verify that the barista heard she ordered a mocha with soy, the barista, very rudely with sarcastic and condescending response said that she got it. Pro tip: you never know what kinds of allergies or intolerances people have for certain things, like dairy. Try a different approach. Be polite and respectful. My wife didn't want to deal with the very uncomfortable aftermath of a request of a dairy free mocha going unheard. If it wasn't for that little interaction, I would have given a solid 5 stars. So disappointed at that interaction. read more

It is nice to have a "Flying M" in the neighborhood. (I live close by.) Good location. Alas, the freight train whistles from the nearby Union Pacific tracks can be annoying -- very loud -- intermittent, however. This location exhibits all the "usuals" that we have come to expect from a Flying M., including good coffee / espresso drinks, tasty goodies, friendly service, competent staff, a little gift shop -- complete with greeting cards and other cute little chotskies -- always fun to browse in there. They brought-in a couple of people from the "A-Team" in Nampa. So, there are experienced baristas behind the counter. Any drink, hot or cold, that I've had here has been prepared perfectly; no worries there. I'd have to describe the décor as eclectic, light-industrial-transitional-rustic-contemporary, informed by a dash of thrift shop for comfort, with a garnish of grandma's attic, just before the yard sale. Okay, okay, "colorful & eclectic" would have said it all. The Flying M is a welcome addition to the urban renewal projects in Caldwell; this place will prosper. read more

I've stopped in here a few times after going to the Post Office. The last time I went in I was treated strangely. I stood at the counter for some reason as people that came in after me were served first. Eventually a young man behind the counter said "what's up guy?" I said I wanted a large Latte to go. Without acknowledging my order, he turns around and I guess he started my latte. I waited some more. Eventually I asked about my latte and they pointed to the counter for me to pick it up. No one called me or announced my coffee was ready. Every single person working here needs some serious customer service skills. First off, addressing me by "what's up guy" is demeaning. I am a grown man (50 years old), I was surprised they did't say "what's up Boomer". I take it they don't want older people in the store, unless they have blue hair or piercings. It felt like they hated my presence. Rude and unprofessional, and the coffee is no where near the quality of the Nampa or Boise location. The coffee was good the others times I visited, hence the 2 stars instead of just one. Very disappointing, and very unwelcoming. read more

I am a regular. I don't have a single bad thing to say about the Caldwell location. We've been to the Nampa and Boise locations as well, but Caldwell definitely has the best coffee shop vibes. Flying M is a great place to grab a cup of coffee, and pastry, and sit and chat with friends for a while. I have met groups here multiple times, they have plenty of seating and something for everyone on their menu. I am partial to their monte Cristo style croissant pastry, which you will find occasionally available in the food case. I believe they make their pastries from scratch, certainly the ones I have tried taste freshly made. They also have a mini gift shop with cards and trinkets. The staff are friendly and don't mind if you stay a while, as long as you leave before closing! I'll continue to visit Flying M in Caldwell and Nampa - never tried the Boise location. read more
