So good! The raspberry filling and peanut butter is a win. The fruit filled donut we got was apple. That donut tasted like fall and apple pie. A great treat to start off the BER months. The front is the store is perfectly set. Windows painted Peanuts themed. You can't get more ready for a new season than this. It was nice to stop in and grab a snack with my husband. They are only open on the weekends and I was conveniently by the shop so it was only right to stop in. Parking is towards the back and there's quite a few spots available which is nice. I adore the building they are in. I love older store fronts that have been revamped and turned into charming venues. Walking in, you notice how country shabby it is. I appreciate the esthetic here. I love me a beautiful shabby country feel. It's a smaller but intimate setting. There's drinks in a cooler for sale. Coffee beans, dried flowers and other fun gifts on display. After checking out their goods, I headed over to their display of baked goodies. My first impression of these treats was wow! They were all beautiful, delicate and delicious looking. These goodies would be perfect for a bridal shower, a wedding or just a nice tea party. Completely stunning. I wanted to start my first visit here with something classic so I ordered the chocolate chip cookie and the peanut butter cookie. I was planning on taking them to go and share them with my husband. If I did stay to enjoy my pastry, I would have tried the banana pudding. I would have wanted to have the whole experience of having it in the venue with a tea. My husband and I enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie. It was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. I do wish there were more chocolate chips in the cookie. We felt like we ate more of the cookie without the chocolate than with. We both do look forward to trying the peanut butter cookie later. I believe this would have been a 5 star visit if the service was friendlier. I know I only ordered 2 cookies but it was "that's it?!?" that threw me off. Regardless if I came in for 1 cookie or a dozen, I believe a guest should be treated nicely. It's not the price point of the guest. It's the fact that we came in to support your local business. My 2 cookies with tip was pushing 11 bucks. 11 bucks can buy me a whole grip of Tollhouse bake your own cookies but instead I wanted to spec this place out and support you. The staff member seemed put out having to give us descriptions. . We ended up with: * A raspberry scone - very dry and crumbly * A cinnamon roll - equally dry and lacking moisture * A savory milk bun - you guessed it, dry as well. There was no offer to warm anything up, which would have helped at least a little. In my opinion, if a place is only open three days a week and caters to a limited window, the baked goods should be exceptionally fresh and worth the hype and trek. These felt more like yesterday's leftovers than anything made that morning. Disappointing experience overall--we won't be back. We have no issue driving to Boise for good food but this was not worth the drive. Wasted $16 plus tip for nothing good.

Mike Burr, who is a chef, apparently initiated his interest in sourdough starter bread baking when living in Eastern Europe for a while and it led to the creation of these wonderful baked treats; breads and sweet and savory pastries, to feed all of us when he moved to Boise. THE SPACE: This is a small one so there are one or two 2-top tables inside and a bench outside to sit at if you want to eat there. Take away is your best bet but be aware that lines on Saturday can be long and for all three days they are open (Thu, Fri, Sat) they can sell out, so going earlier rather than later in the day is also the best option. THE EATS & SERVICE: Get in line, order at the counter from the splendid array of sweet and savory pastries in cases on two sides and from the assortment of bread on the racks straight ahead. There are some specialty loaves offered on certain days, like the rosemary and olive loaf on Saturdays. The people who work here are so friendly and helpful. I just learned that Burread has pizza dough available to buy and that will be on my list to try next time I'm in. PARKING: There are 3 spaces marked as bakery owned that are on the lot on the right side of the building. Those are free to use. All other parking in the lot that surrounds the bakery and that is behind it are a parking lot where you will need to pay via phone with the scan code on the sign at the lot. There is also limited street parking available. ACCESSIBILITY: Level in the door and ample floor space for a wheelchair user, I am one, to get to the counter. There is ADA / Van Accessible parking in the lot behind the bakery and one ADA / Van Accessible on street spot on the side street across from bakery.

The baker explained the differences between the two rounds and suggested the ligher one for sandwiches. We got home and the Sourdough round was fresh, delicious and tasted like a Sourdough should, I found it difficult to slice even with a bread knife. Maybe it needs to be sharpened. I found it easier to rip off a piece and used it to mop up sauces from various dishes. The pretzels were excellent. I loved them the most. If I get another Sourdough, I would get one that spent more time in the oven with a crunchier crust even though it may be harder to bite. EXCELLENCE: We are hooked!  The pastries, sweet and savory, are delicious and their high hydration sourdough breads are fantabulous (think in the style of Tartine).   We are particularly fans of their miche loaf called Sasquatch and they will sell this tasty behemoth in full, half or quarter loaf as you choose and they'll hand slice the quarter loaf (the size we choose) if you ask them to.  The baguette are "parfaite" for grab and go style sandwiches to make at home (think jambon beurre). One day when we popped in we managed to get the last of their sandwich creations that day with brie and prosciutto on the baguette. Our pastry favs iare lemony Amalfi and also cardamon delight Andromeda, both in snail form but every pastry has been so worth the calories! I think we've tried them all.   GASTONIA'S DIFFERENCE: There are several sourdough'ish bakeries in the area. Sometimes it is best to let owners speak for themselves for what makes theirs unique.  Here is what Glutonia's owners have to say:  "Our breads are "sourdough," but we don't love that term. We like to think of them as "naturally fermented." The distinction is that we don't make a very sour sourdough. It's kinda tangy, sure, but we want the grain to be the star of the show. And we don't want folks to have to test the structural integrity of their dental work just to get a bite of bread. Sour often equates to chewy, and we're aiming for more edible, neutral tasting bread that you can eat however you choose. It's a pretty tough needle to thread, and we're mighty proud of our results." PARKING:  Aforementioned bear of a thing on street here.  There is a parking lot in the back of the shops in this new mixed use (retail down, apartments up) building but it often seems full on weekends and some times mid week as it is also parking for the apartment complex.  SEATING:  No space inside for seating but there is a nice patio outside with three 4-top tables that have attached seats and umbrellas for protection from sun or rain. ACCESSIBILITY:  Plenty of clear floor space inside for a wheelchair user to place an order. They do not provide a wheelchair accessible seating space at any of the tables. (They should given ADA requires that IF you are providing seating for customers THEN some of that seating must be accessible to wheelchair users so that they have equal access.)  No ADA parking on street (ACHD's eror because it is required by 1990 ADA law.)  There are two accessible parking spots, one van accessible, in the lot behind the building. Route to the bakery from there is easy alongside the building.  I have a proverbial dog in this hunt since I have had multiple sclerosis since college days.

Very very disappointed, to be a local bakery in new I expected so much more. I'll be making the next birthday cake when I come into town to visit, I cannot believe they even sold this cake to us. not sure if i will try to go back !
