Rose Hill is a delicious little bakery in Caldwell. Rose Hill Bakery focuses on quality ingredients. They have the best scones and muffins that I've tried in the Treasure Valley. I recommend looking at their website to see the variety of items you can order in advance to pick up. I love their Raspberry White Chocolate scones. Their Blueberry scones are filled with mouthwatering plump blueberries. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. The bakery smells delicious and is warm and inviting with some seating. I find it's definitely worth the drive to Caldwell to get my scone and muffin fix!!! Make sure to check their operating hours.

I order two of the mini cakes, one chocolate with chocolate frosting and one white cake with strawberry filling and white icing. These cakes were amazing! The frosting was incredible and so fresh without any strange textures that overly processed ingredients can leave. After the birthday party I put the cakes in the fridge, the next day the cakes are still moist and the frosting is delicious.

Cinnamon rolls are great and available in individual containers at Cliff's Market.

A visit to the bakery, located near downtown Caldwell, not far from Indian Creek Plaza, may have me rounding this up to 5 stars when I get there. But for now my husbands and my experience has been with Rose Hill's remarkably yummy cinnamon rolls and cherry chocolate chunk cookies which we bought at Caldwell located Cliff's Market. We were skeptical of buying pre-packaged items from a local bakery about which we knew nothing since we pay more than our fair share of attention to food everywhere in the area, but the ingredients label on the cinnamon rolls convinced us to try one and a cookie too. Both were so good that we wished two things. One that the bakery was open at that time so we could swing by to buy more (hours are limited, Thu - Sat from 8a - 2p) since we were in Caldwell at Cliff's. The other is to wish they were closer to Eagle where we live. Their web site is not as streamlined as it might be but looks as if they bake bread and pastries and make some sandwiches too. Some bakery items look as if they must be ordered at least 24 hours in advance. I imagine as a small bakery they are trying to be able to sell all they bake and financially for a start up that makes a lot of sense. We plan to make a "destination" visit soon, where starting at Rose Hill in the morning is our check off the "to do" for the day so we can shop at the bakery first. But in the interim, based on what we enjoyed from them, we can sure recommend the quality!

The filling tasted like straight sugar.. no blueberry taste.. no lemon juice, no salt at all.. and there was too much almond spice. Blueberries have some of the most diverse flavors, don't hide the flavor of blueberry with the amount of sugar& spice you put in the filling. I'm giving the rest of the pie to my guava and I'm going to Walmart to get a redemption blueberry pie. I really hate leaving a subpar answer for a review, but I was suuuper stoked to get a homemade blueberry pie.

They even have a handful of fruit pie options that are frozen unbaked to take and bake at home. HOW TO ORDER: *I have ordered different pies (marionberry take and bake, key lime, strawberry rhubarb, cherry) four times over the last two years via the Boise Farmers Market on line interface ( https://theboisefarmersmarket.com/ ) to pick up on Saturday mornings at the Market. *At this site https://www.bakerias.com/US/Caldwell/139446106778836/Black-Kettle-Pies - Black Kettle owners indicate they will deliver for $25 and also that as of January 2021 pie orders are accepted Mon - Wed for pick up at a Caldwell location (5104 S 10th Ave) on Fri morning from 9a to 11a. *On their Square order site https://blackkettlepies.square.site/ they list the following for order protocol pick up times when ordering via that site: Pickup Time & Location Boise Corner of 14th & Spa St. (this is the Farmers Market) Sat 9a - 1p Caldwell 5104 S. 10th Ave. Fri 9a - 9:30a Eagle Farmers Market Sat 9a - 2p Nampa Farmers Market Sat 9a - 1-p Confusing? For sure and you may want to call the contact number listed on their FB page 208-459-8828 to clarify. If I order again I'll stick with the Boise Farmers Market online interface which is very simple to use with pick up Saturday mornings from 9a - 1p as scheduled by you. THE GOODIES: While my hubby and I applaud this hard working couple who came back to Idaho to make pie after retirement from food concessions and event business in California, aside from the Key Lime pie or others like it which have a graham cracker crust we enjoy, we likely won't order their pies again only because they use lard to make their standard pie crust. Lard imparts both a texture and flavor we don't as much appreciate in crusts for fruit pies although it is what my great-great and great grandmothers both used for their pies and so I remember the flavor from my childhood into young adult days too when one or the other of them was baking. Then it worked for me. Now it doesn't. Things evolve. But some people prefer lard in pie crust and if that is your thing then this is your pie because the fillings are tasty for sure. And they have won awards so clearly the crust works for others. We may put the cheesecakes on our radar. BACK STORY: As shared by Ron on a bakers' site. "Our story starts when I was 13 years old. I worked after school and Saturdays in Boise for Eddy's Bakery. That's what started my love for baking. Over 27 years ago I got into the food business as a concession at fairs and special events. Part of our business was making and selling pies on site at the events. We traveled six different state working the larger shows. About 8 years ago I felt a younger man needed to run the pie business so we sold the unit to a operator in California. I very quickly realized I missed doing pies so here we are again. Our main market is internet as well as Farmer's Markets. We have been blessed to win awards for our pies at the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival, The Indio Date Festival in California, the Alameda County Fair in Pleasanton California, In 2002 we were written up in the National Geographic Magazine."
