Located in the former space of Caffe Sorrento is now Madre Bianca Baking.
Madre Bianca is an offshoot of Coeur d'Alene-based Sebastian's Coffee and Pastries.
We bought a number of pastries, the three pack of pretzels - Love me some pretzels and a Sourdough round.
The baker explained the differences between the two rounds and suggested the ligher one for sandwiches.
We got home and the Sourdough round was fresh, delicious and tasted like a Sourdough should, I found it difficult to slice even with a bread knife. Maybe it needs to be sharpened.
I found it easier to rip off a piece and used it to mop up sauces from various dishes.
The pretzels were excellent. I loved them the most.
If I get another Sourdough, I would get one that spent more time in the oven with a crunchier crust even though it may be harder to bite. I would also ask if they rounds could be sliced - not sure if they can do that though.
