The rose croissant was a standout with the rose flavor delicate yet present in every bite, which is rare for floral pastries. It never became overpowering or faded into the background or tasted artificial.The true star of the meal, however, was the lox croissant sandwich. It was absolutely stellar and one of the best savory pastries we've had in a long time.The coffee was just okay, but that was fine because the pastries completely stole the show. The staff worked quickly despite the steady stream of customers. There is a bit of seating both indoors and outdoors, although most people seemed to be taking their orders to go ,perhaps because of the weather. If you're visiting, come for the pastries. They're absolutely worth the wait.

Just a heads up: it gets very crowded and busy, so I'd recommend arriving early or going in with a little patience. We bought a number of pastries, the three pack of pretzels - Love me some pretzels and a Sourdough round. The baker explained the differences between the two rounds and suggested the ligher one for sandwiches. We got home and the Sourdough round was fresh, delicious and tasted like a Sourdough should, I found it difficult to slice even with a bread knife. Maybe it needs to be sharpened. I found it easier to rip off a piece and used it to mop up sauces from various dishes. The pretzels were excellent. I loved them the most. If I get another Sourdough, I would get one that spent more time in the oven with a crunchier crust even though it may be harder to bite. Mike Burr, who is a chef, apparently initiated his interest in sourdough starter bread baking when living in Eastern Europe for a while and it led to the creation of these wonderful baked treats; breads and sweet and savory pastries, to feed all of us when he moved to Boise. THE SPACE: This is a small one so there are one or two 2-top tables inside and a bench outside to sit at if you want to eat there. Take away is your best bet but be aware that lines on Saturday can be long and for all three days they are open (Thu, Fri, Sat) they can sell out, so going earlier rather than later in the day is also the best option. THE EATS & SERVICE: Get in line, order at the counter from the splendid array of sweet and savory pastries in cases on two sides and from the assortment of bread on the racks straight ahead. There are some specialty loaves offered on certain days, like the rosemary and olive loaf on Saturdays. The people who work here are so friendly and helpful. I just learned that Burread has pizza dough available to buy and that will be on my list to try next time I'm in. PARKING: There are 3 spaces marked as bakery owned that are on the lot on the right side of the building. Those are free to use. All other parking in the lot that surrounds the bakery and that is behind it are a parking lot where you will need to pay via phone with the scan code on the sign at the lot. There is also limited street parking available. ACCESSIBILITY: Level in the door and ample floor space for a wheelchair user, I am one, to get to the counter. EXCELLENCE: We are hooked!  The pastries, sweet and savory, are delicious and their high hydration sourdough breads are fantabulous (think in the style of Tartine).   We are particularly fans of their miche loaf called Sasquatch and they will sell this tasty behemoth in full, half or quarter loaf as you choose and they'll hand slice the quarter loaf (the size we choose) if you ask them to.  The baguette are "parfaite" for grab and go style sandwiches to make at home (think jambon beurre). One day when we popped in we managed to get the last of their sandwich creations that day with brie and prosciutto on the baguette. Our pastry favs iare lemony Amalfi and also cardamon delight Andromeda, both in snail form but every pastry has been so worth the calories! I think we've tried them all.   GASTONIA'S DIFFERENCE: There are several sourdough'ish bakeries in the area. We like to think of them as "naturally fermented." The distinction is that we don't make a very sour sourdough. It's kinda tangy, sure, but we want the grain to be the star of the show. And we don't want folks to have to test the structural integrity of their dental work just to get a bite of bread. Sour often equates to chewy, and we're aiming for more edible, neutral tasting bread that you can eat however you choose. It's a pretty tough needle to thread, and we're mighty proud of our results." "WELCOME IN": The people who work here are so welcoming and gracious.  I wish it was in my neighborhood! PARKING:  Aforementioned bear of a thing on street here.  There is a parking lot in the back of the shops in this new mixed use (retail down, apartments up) building but it often seems full on weekends and some times mid week as it is also parking for the apartment complex.  SEATING:  No space inside for seating but there is a nice patio outside with three 4-top tables that have attached seats and umbrellas for protection from sun or rain. ACCESSIBILITY:  Plenty of clear floor space inside for a wheelchair user to place an order. They do not provide a wheelchair accessible seating space at any of the tables. (They should given ADA requires that IF you are providing seating for customers THEN some of that seating must be accessible to wheelchair users so that they have equal access.)  No ADA parking on street (ACHD's eror because it is required by 1990 ADA law.)  There are two accessible parking spots, one van accessible, in the lot behind the building. Route to the bakery from there is easy alongside the building.  I have a proverbial dog in this hunt since I have had multiple sclerosis since college days.
