Updated after 2 more visits. Still awesome! I've had the Devil sandwich twice and the Regular (turkey) once. Both are great. The fresh made baguette rolls are so good. Don't blink as you drive by because it is tucked under some large trees that provide a beautiful outdoor seating area outside the cottage themed storefront. Was the strangest and most threatening experience we've ever had ordering at a restaurant. Visited with our family and asked whether the smoked salmon was hot or cold smoked and the gal became rude & combative. She got real aggressive in her tone with me - stating she had no idea what I was talking about. Of course, when I mentioned I was a chef and wanted to see the meat to determine if I wanted it, since she didn't know what kind it was - she became huffy & patronizing with me and fetched it to show me it. We all tried to put her attitude aside to order, but when I ordered the salmon with ham, she wanted to charge me almost 6 bucks to add it! Her tone was off the charts - and extremely passive aggressive. So I said I'm not trying to piss you off - just trying to understand your menu. She got extremely nasty, haughty and said it was I, who was being condescending - I'm like really? No - I'm not. You had a bad attitude when we walked in. But If that's the case, we will just leave. We don't need to buy food from someone so aggressive and defensive. We like to support small businesses, but they certainly just lost our business, by their own standards! We went across the street to Spit Fire and had a fantastic lunch with people who know how to be kind, friendly and understanding with thier customers! Buyer beware with this place and the person working the front desk - she obviously has issues or doesn't know what customer service is! My advice - as a chef - when you are faced with people in the front of the house who don't know how to be kind - just leave and have a better lunch elsewhere... because life is too short to eat food prepared or served by people with passive aggressive bad attitudes. read more

Tasso continues to create among the best (I'll argue for THE best) unique, handcrafted sandwiches anywhere and yesterday I discovered that owners (chef Dan and his wife Hannah) have added seating at tables and chairs to the inside like the outside seating of same. I don't know when that happened because the dearth of inside seating before (a few high stools at a counter and one small table) that didn't work for me means I have been sending hubby in to pick up and bring home. But on a chilly day yesterday when I joined him for the take-away sandwich run it was delightful to find the new seating set up to stay warm inside and enjoy our meal there in the light, bright space where pride of ownership shines. (Loved the eclectic mix of tunes on the sound system too and low volume of same to not compete with conversation.) Tasso is no longer using 3rd party delivery services so it means you'll have a chance to enjoy the music even if you're just popping in for your take away order. You can call in your order and probably place it online too but I noticed yesterday that the menu board in house and the one online are a little out of synch for options and prices. ALWAYS EXCELLENT: From the first sandwich we ate at Tasso, at their original BODO location, and for all the sandwiches since their move to the more convenient for us Eagle location, we say what we did with that first one. That is this: "We may have had sandwiches as good as Tasso's but we can't remember having any better - anywhere or ever. If you think sandwich is art form, try Tasso." Good news - they do catering too. ANOTHER REASON TO UPDATE THIS REVIEW: To mention there is now a brewery, Gem State, across the street from Tasso and that brewery doesn't have a kitchen to create food but will allow customers to bring in food. The perfect sandwich to go with your Gem State beer is an easy commute across the street at Tasso! ACCESSIBILITY: Tasso's entry is level in from the sidewalk and all on one floor with ample space at the order counter. There is a loo on site but I didn't check it for ADA standards. Accessible parking is extremely poor throughout Eagle and the nearest spots to Tasso are all the way down by the Senior Center. That failure is City of Eagle's not Tasso's. PARKING: On street or lot in back and side of building. THEIR "FOOD LANE": For food quality and hospitality as we hold Tasso in the same high regard as excellent husband / wife / family owned with a chef driven kitchen creating excellent food and customer centered hospitality with integrity in business practices. We've eater here for lunch 2 or 3 times. It's a very tiny place, but they have a small patio outside for seating, too. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and always helps me pick out what I want, since I always have a hard time deciding. My husband really loves the signature Devil sandwich, and I have to agree, after stealing bites. The turkey is pretty good (the one with pickled jalapeños on it). We have also tried a couple of their sides, mainly the kimchi coleslaw, which my husband likes, but I'm not a fan of kimchi, so it wasn't really for me. The salmon potato salad, however, is definitely my jam, but I do wish they'd salt it a bit more. Otherwise, it's lovely, and the perfect side for one of their sandwiches. Tasso has been on my list to try for like a year, and I'm glad I finally got to it. They have really unique sandwiches and a cute little shop with a great patio. I tried "The Devil", which is totally out of normal realm for ordering but really like it! They have a kid's sandwich with Turkey and cheese and my picky eater LOVED it. The bread they use for all the sandwiches is SO good. They also used a super yummy whole grain mustard on all the sandwiches we ordered! Wasn't sure what the kids would think but they loved it! I have my own little personal lists of the best places in BOI to get a sandwich, and Tasso holds one of the top spots. I've only been here one once so far, and the experience exceeded all of my expectations. Tasso is located on a very convenient, cute corner of Downtown Boise on 8th and Broad. The interior is well lit, perfect for taking Instagram worthy shots of my lunch. The plants hanging from macrame gave the dining area a very cozy vibe. I gotta say, and this is no exaggeration, this was one of the tastiest sandwiches I've ever had the pleasure of eating in my entire life! I never even knew what tasso was. I always just thought it was a quirky little name for a sandwich shop. It is so much more... Upon learning of the generous portion sizes, my husband I decided to split a sandwich. It was a great idea. The pics show just half a sandwich so if you want to enjoy your meal with a bear I def recommended sharing. We chose the Country Devil (*I am almost 100% sure this is what we got, but it's also been a good 8 months since we went so I could be wrong.*) The ham itself was dredged so well. It was like an explosion of salty, fatty, mouthwatering deliciousness. I'm seriously salvating just thinking about how good this sandwich tastes. Every bite burst with flavor of roast pork, ham, mustard, gruyère and picked onion. I mean, YUM!! Sandwiches are served with a very nice salad tossed with rice wine dressing. What a great combo. I can't wait to enjoy more lunches at Tasso once the COVID era has passed. I may have to take advantage of their take out service soon! Tasso is a beautiful little spot in BoDo. The menu is small, which is a good thing because it means that they do each thing really well. They also shift and change the menu throughout the year so there are always new salads, sandwiches and soups to try. It's the kind of place that keeps you coming back because it feels comfortable and offers lots of surprises. The interior is lovely! There are two entrances (one is in the hallway that leads you to Solid and Slow by Slow. It is very bright, with beautiful plants and fun eclectic artwork on the walls. There were 6 beers on tap and a popcorn machine that you can serve yourself at. I came on a Friday for lunch. Huge bonus: draft beers were on special for only $2! Not sure if that's an every Friday thing or not, but it was exciting! I ordered the Pork and Farro Salad. The pork was so yummy. Succulent, bite size and with a hint of char. The farro was nicely cooked. Still had a little toothsome bite, but soft on the inside. I have no idea what kind of dressing was on the salad, but I liked it! This is a little oasis for us. My good friend and Yelp giant, Michele R, gave me the assignment to take my husband here. Aye, aye, Captain! The food is great, the service was excellent and both of these attributes are well documented by all the reviews. Frankly, I do not think you can pick anything but winners on their menu. The complimentary popcorn is a thoughtful offering for munching on while you wait, but not me because I was all over the restaurant enjoying their artwork. This place never disappoints! I don't live in Boise, but I make sure to always stop here whenever I drive through, I love it so much. We got the Kimchi Klub and Tasso Junior sandwiches.
