Salt & Light has quickly become one of those community gathering spots where you can tell people genuinely want to linger awhile. The space has beautiful natural light and lots of windows, making it a really nice place for meetings, catch-ups, or slower coffee mornings. Every time I've been here, I've seen a mix of church groups, casual mom coffee meetups, study groups, and people working quietly in corners. It has that welcoming neighborhood coffee house energy where people settle in instead of rushing out. One thing to know -- they're still fairly new (within their first year), so the line can get LONG, even in the afternoon. This is definitely more of a leisurely coffee stop versus a quick grab-and-go situation, but the atmosphere makes up for it. They also have an awesome patio and regularly host events, so I'd definitely recommend following their Instagram if you want updates on events and seasonal drink specials. Parking can be a little small and congested, but honestly that's pretty par for the course around here and not enough to stop us from coming back. read more

Amazing coffee shop in Eagle off of State Street. 100% worth the drive from SE Boise. I have been here a couple times now and this coffee shop is so worth the drive. Everyone I have chatted with here had been amazing, so sweet and helpful. I love the atmosphere as well. It had a tall pitched ceiling that lets in a lot of natural light and keeps the space feeling really open. Lots of comfortable seating options to choose from including high top tables, large round tables, comfy benches or couches in front of the fireplace. They also have a large patio area that seats about 16 for when the weather warms up. They also have a drive thru window if you don't want to get out of your car to order you coffee. Now on to the actual product, the coffee. I have ordered a chai tea latte as well as an iced salted caramel latte and both were amazing. They also work with a local bakery in Eagle and all of their scones and pastries looked amazing. Next time I will come with an appetite so I can order one of these. In March 2026, they will begin to have beer and wine available to purchase in the afternoons/evenings. I will definitely be back to support this sweet business! read more

I have been wanting to check this coffee joint out since it has opened. But I never make my way into this direction but today I decided that I wanted a coffee from this shop. I read online that their banana bread lattes are the business so that was enough to push me to the other end of State St. I remember when this location was a soda joint. They have remodeled it into quite a stunning venue. The plush green velvet seating is very luxurious. The color of the seating is so pretty, rich emerald green! I have always enjoyed the big windows that wrap around a majority of the venue giving it so much natural lighting. I adore the fireplace in the middle of the floor creating some division between the seating and the register. And you can never go wrong with a fireplace for that added coziness to your shop. I walked up to order and the gal working behind the counter was great. I asked her about the banana bread latte and was told it wasn't available. Bummer since I was looking forward to it. But she suggested the fig or figgy vanilla pudding latte. Reading the description of it, it sounded lovely so I went for it. I grabbed a 16oz iced breve of this special and I was looking forward to my drink! I checked out the pretty decor on the fireplace while they were working on my drink. It was nice to see people out this late in the afternoon enjoying their company and drinks. My name was called and made my way up to grab it. I noticed that the lids were in a communal basket. I was planning to ask the gentleman working the espresso machine if I could possibly get one that hasn't been exposed to everyone. With my new kidney, I just have to be extra careful with communal things like lids, straws and silverware that have been exposed to multiple people. Honestly, he seemed bothered when I simply starting talking to him. It discouraged me from asking so I grabbed a lid from the secondary stack towards the bottom. He stared at me like I was strange but if he was kind, I wouldn't have had to dig for a lid. He would have known why I needed a different lid for my drink. I sat by the fireplace for a bit to enjoy the vibe and coffee. After my first sip, I was really hoping that the fig or vanilla bean would be present in my breve. Unfortunately, it wasn't. I did take a couple more drinks and mixed it up a bit to see if the flavoring would be more noticeable. Sadly, my drink tasted like a normal breve. It was creamy and the espresso was noticeable but was about it. For almost 9 dollars for this drink, it was a big let down. In a normal situation I would have paid for more flavoring but the interaction with the gentleman made me just want to settle with what I got. Nothing worse than being stuck with something that you're unhappy with. I was really hoping for a great experience along with a great drink. My experience was partially there. My interaction with the gal who took my order and the beauty of the venue was fantastic. But my drink and the other barista working was very disappointing. I had such high expectations of this place. I have been to quite a few coffee shops in the valley and I'm usually never disappointed with them. I just want a good drink, nice vibe and great customer service. Pretty basic expectations of any business really. I'm happy I got to finally check out Salt and Light but I'll just stick to my coffee shops on the other end of State St. read more

Had to try this place because local coffee shops, combined with faith and the cutest setting are always worth it. The inside is so cozy! Theres a giant fireplace, decent amount of seating (outdoor seating as well), they sell merchandise and it's just so inviting. The two baristas were friendly and patient while we decided what we wanted to try. The service was great- and everything came out fast. We ordered the carrot cake iced latte and an iced mocha, as well as a slice of banana bread (the banana bread was sooooo good). The coffee is strong, so be warned- for me personally, I would add an extra pump of mocha or syrup of some sort next time, but it's delicious. Price point is great too. We really enjoyed our visit and can't wait to go back. I could see setting up here to do Bible studies and just hang out. Such a sweet place- and also, they do charcuterie wine and cider/beer in the evenings, which is super cool and I can't wait to check that out too. read more

I am by no means a coffee snob. I have graduated to organic coffee from Costco, but we have ground our own and poured over my morning coffee. Anyway, I am digressing. I took my wife to an early morning doctor's appointment this morning and she asked me if I would like to try it. I agreed! This place is very clean and the staff were incredibly nice. I asked what a Cortado was and the gentleman was very kind and explained it to me. I didn't order it, but instead got a large Drip Coffee. The coffee was fresh, the staff were incredibly nice, and this is a place I will definitely be back to. I didn't try any food items, so it would be hard for me to give it five stars for simply coffee. This place is a great stop, and if you are visiting Eagle Island State Park, it is across the street from the State Street entrance. Beautiful cafe, good coffee, but I wish the employees were much nicer to customers. They have bland personalities, some don't smile or say hello when you come up to order, sometimes the coffee can be made to its perfection but then on weird days like today my milk was just lukewarm....not tempered right...usually would have neat coffee art but today was just swirled foam. I don't want to give a bad rep for this cafe as it's been a pleasure coming in but I feel like some employees hate to see the same people come in...there's no life behind their expression. I drove in from out of town and showed up at 7 AM on Saturday, which is when they say they open. Lights were off and nobody was there. Someone finally arrived at 7:15 but told me it'd be another 30 minutes before they could even make a coffee. No apology and no rush to get things going. I really like this place and want it to succeed. But the wait times for drinks when they are busy makes it unenjoyable. It's a beautiful ambiance and nice location. Staff is friendly. My favorite drink is the iced salt and light latte. My biggest qualm is how long it takes to get the drinks. 30+ minutes for a drink is a little long. It seems like they might need a secondary station to make the drinks but hopefully they get in a groove that can make the wait times better. read more

We arrived right before closing and the entire staff was friendly and patient with our group of 5. All of our drinks were delicious and the scones were flavorful and a good match with the drinks. Such a great atmosphere as well. Tables are well spaced out so it doesn't feel like others are sitting too close. I want this place to succeed and do well. They are in a great location and have a great atmosphere. However, some downsides I hope they improve on (based on buying 2 lattes and pastries there). They get their coffee from a local coffee roaster (which I support always try and buy local) but it's not that great of bean, it has burnt taste to it. Also the roaster charges 18 dollars for a 12 ounce bag online (unless I'm getting a small gold bar with every purchase that's way too high). Yes I'm sure the coffee shop is getting a bulk discount but i don't see them being a feasible supplier. Their pastries were hard and cold. Almost as if they stuck them in fridge and took them out 2 minutes before opening. I paid 10 dollars for a tasteless chocolate muffin that was hard as a rock and raspberry scone that had 3 raspberry's. They also have 1 dollar change fee if you ask for whole milk. Last note, best frothing job on the milk. They actually know to how to froth the entire milk where it's silly smooth! Great job! These things are not hard to change. Just get different suppliers if they see a dip in customers. I really want them to be a success. read more
