I looooved this coffee shop. I was visiting Boise and Alchemist was just a few minutes walk from my air bnb. It's in a cute area with some other shops I wanna try on my next visit. I ordered the seasonal banana latte with cold foam and it was so good! I picked up some huckleberry and lavender syrups as gifts cause you don't leave Idaho without something huckleberry and some loose leaf tea for myself. The decor and vibe is dark and artsy and I loved it. I also got the pumpkin seed toast, the bread was so soft and chewy topped with goodness. Super cute coffee shop! I loved all the decor inside and it was spacious! Plenty of room to work or just enjoy a tea without constantly being bumped into! The staff were very welcome and sweet! The price was reasonable for sure. I do not think it was too pricy for the hot chocolate that I had. The location is not by much but I do recommend it if you are in the area!!! read more

I was downtown at a dr appointment. Took another way home to avoid afternoon traffic. The other way home allows me to pass this coffee joint. I stopped at another local coffee shop this morning and was so disappointed in their coffee, I barely drank any of it. I have been here a couple times and knew I was in good hands for my afternoon pick me up. The gal behind the counter got me all squared away. I ordered my regular drink that never fails me. A small iced americano with sugar free white chocolate and room for cream. As I'm hanging out by the counter watching the sweet gal make my drink, I can tell she screwed up. She was adding so much water to the espresso shot in the measuring cup. She poured it into the cup and it was filled to the brim, no room for cream. She allowed me to pour my own cream but I had to dump a portion of my drink out to make room. It already sucks knowing my coffee was watered down and then to waste it as well, it's not best feeling. My drink was ok today. It was not as balanced with the espresso, cream and flavoring. It would have been nice to have had a consistent drink from this joint but it happens. We sometimes get that coffee that doesn't hit right and today is just one of those days for me. I know I'll be back. Hopefully next time my drink will be made right. read more

Mmm!! So good Ambiance is amazing!!! So dark and moody, their interior design is so elevated from quality seating to gorgeous light fixtures. It's a cute spot with plenty of seating inside. It's a very cozy layout and the decor on par with the name. I ordered Sun Moon Latte and a lemon poppy scone. The latte was very delicious. Strong coconut flavor, which I loved. The lemon poppy scone was not good. It tasted old and stale. I would come back again for the coffee. read more

I haven't had a bad coffee here yet. I had the banana bread latte. This tasted almost exactly like banana bread. This one is set up very differently than the one off of overland. The ambiance is nice. Plenty of couches to sit on and relax. Also seems to be more food selection. I can't really say enough awesome things about this place. Just a great atmosphere to mingle, read, people watch, or work. Every time I am here there is always a small meeting back by the couches. I love that co-workers are mingling here often. It is a great gathering spot. Excellent coffee and drink options. The food looks tasty and is on my list to try when I come here hungry. Fairly close to the greenbelt (Simplot park area) so keep it in mind if you are in that area and craving a delectable coffee bean drink (or non-coffee bean too)! read more

We stayed in the townhouse above the Alchemist. We went down one morning and they had so many options. They also were so friendly, especially since we were traveling and new to the neighborhood. I love Alchemist coffee: Where Dawson and Taylor and Push and Pour are more purist / European style / super precise single source roasts (particularly D&T) on the coffee, Alchemist has a wonderful food menu, particularly the vegetarian and vegan options--with great coffee. Great seating for both socializing and working, this is probably my favorite spot in Boise for coffee, food, and a good long working sessions. Additionally, each location has live music. The 27th street, in 2024, has live music on the 3rd Saturday of every month. read more

The coffee is ok and the staff is super friendly. The only complaint is that they like to play Opposite Day every day. If you want an iced coffee you have to ask for it hot. You cannot ask for your coffee iced or hot without them making it opposite of what you ask for. Came here twice when visiting a friend and both times they made my coffee opposite of what I requested. This place is absolutely adorable. I came here with my friend and the cups, coffee, and atmosphere is absolutely adorable. I had their seasonal coffee and was rather disappointed because the coffee is burnt. My friend had something else and was fine. I did end up getting their matcha latte which wasn't bad. Just be aware there is mostly street parking near by so be aware and be ready for that. Try to carpool if you come with friends. read more

They offer the same great quality coffee as the older Alchemist location, along with a breakfast and lunch menu, in an upscale environment. The decor is elegant, the atmosphere lounge like, and service very friendly. A hidden gem off the beaten path, but definitely worth the visit. read more

Stopped here on a visit to Boise and came away very impressed. It's a nice space with a variety of drinks, as well as a few breakfast/lunch dishes and some cool merch. I had the sun and moon latte, a nice blend of turmeric and other spices. It was delicious and came out quickly. They also have a rotating menu of seasonal drinks (not all of them coffee/tea) that looked enticing. The seating here is varied and well-thought-out: a bar, regular tables, high tables, and a lounge. Many of the seats have convenient power outlets, making this a great place to do some work. I think the main seating area could get a little loud, but the lounge is softer and more off by itself. Overall, if I lived in the neighborhood, I could definitely see this being my go-to. Tasty drinks, nice place to work or hang out, and good vibes. read more

I ordered a chai but their chai machine/dispenser was down (?) so I got a latte instead- it was not good- milk looked just warmed up with no creaminess, just flat. I couldn't really taste coffee (it was decaf but should still have coffee taste) The pistachio matcha my husband got was also not good, also very flat and thin in texture and odd flavor. Alchemist has a great space and atmosphere and we were happy to find that they roast their own coffee beans. My husband really enjoyed his mocha while I got a chai latte. It tasted kind of watered down though. I'm hoping this is a fluke because it was really disappointing. The atmosphere was low-key music was quiet yet drowned it out and everyone was happy. Bathrooms were spotless and all condiments and napkins were fully stocked. Between the 4 of us we ordered a lemon poppyseed muffin, cappuccino, chai latte, and 2 drip coffees. The first muffin had a hair in it and had to be exchanged and the person at the counter said that's happened before with the bakery they use. It's time for a new bakery, as the muffin also had no discernible lemon flavor and was dry and the crumble on top was flavofleas. The cappuccino was bland and the chai was so watered down you could barely taste any of the spices. The only decent items were the drip coffees. Overall it was overpriced and poor quality, definitely not anywhere any of us will ever return to. read more

I love the menu having mostly clean ingredients. I wanted to love the place. It had a cool interior and I could see spending some time there, but the attitude of the barista was rude. Seems like an snooty place and the coffee was just awful. There were grounds in mine, and it wasn't mixed well. With an uppety attitude like that, at least have good coffee. read more
