    Lavender earl grey matcha

Form & Function shares the space with the lobby of the Sparrow hotel. You can get 10% off your purchase if you're staying at the hotel by showing your room key. The space has a fun rustic feel with two levels and a patio. They were a little slow making my drink, but the two baristas were very friendly. I think they probably just got backed up somehow because it seemed like they were working hard and knew what they were doing. I got one of their seasonal drinks, the lavender earl grey matcha. It was very pretty, garnished with a sprig of dried lavender. The matcha was strong and tasted high quality. They got just the right balance of cold foam on top, and although the cold foam was very sweet, the drink as a whole wasn't too sweet. Great experience all around.

My regular hang out coffee shop in town. I live in Meridian but I will drive to boise downtown just to buy my coffee during the week. The shop is clean and bright. Pastries selection is great but need to be in a closed display. I saw a fly on top of the banana bread. My only complaint is whenever I ask any barista to make my milk hotter and no foam, they never deliver it. They just ignore my request. Why? I tipped 25% of my bill whenever I go there. I never care about the milk arts, I just want my coffee hot so I don't drink it so fast.

We stopped in multiple times during our stay at The Sparrow, and it quickly became our favorite coffee spot in Boise.

We enjoyed our coffee with unlimited refills and took a booth where you can people watch and we could see the capitol building. Friendly staff and good coffee. I appreciate the variety of baked goods and even the discounted day old items. Good place to grab a coffee when you don't have much time. Loved the artwork on display too. Several little tables here and booths and one larger table. My quiche was good. Everything I expected and I got the day old banana bread which was dried up and hard on the edges and soft in the middle. I guess that's why they discount it. After a day it doesn't hold up too long.

I was suggested to call in and see if they were some available the day of. So, I called in this morning to do an apple fritter check. I talked to Emily this morning. I was told that they don't serve apple fritters. So, now I'm confused to whether they do or don't sell fritters. She did tell me that they have apple bear claws and an apple bread available. I asked if a bear claw could be set aside for me. With it being Saturday morning, I wanted to guarantee a bear claw after I got off work. I wanted to take one home to my husband since I promised him one. I headed in around 9:30. It was chill so I probably could have just snagged one but I wanted it to be a guarantee. The gal behind the counter grabbed my bear claw. Paid for it and made me way out. On my way to the car, I couldn't help but be baffled to how light the box was. I got into my car and opened the box up. Bro, to call this pastry in this to go box a bear claw has to be a joke. A bear claw to me is big, palm size. Multiple people handling a big claw size. I was so disappointed at how tiny this bear claw was. Honestly, to have it be called bear claw is criminal work. And to have it be pushing 5 bucks is criminal work too. Don't get me wrong, the bear claw was decent. It was frosted. The pastry portion of it was soft and buttery. There was apple but very subtle. The size of it is comparable to street taco but fluffier. To compare a bear claw to a street taco is just insane to me.

Their regular drip coffee was a medium roast, which isn't my preference, so I ordered an Americano. It was perfect. I almost passed this joint walking right by it. It's a smaller venue so I'm glad they had a big J on the door, it caught my eyes when I was almost walking past it. Walking in, I see my boss enjoying her drink! I knew it was at the right place when I saw her! The barista let me chat for a minute before I got to ordering. For my usual, I grabbed a small iced americano with room for cream. I totally spaced on asking for any sugar free options so but biggie! My drink came out delicious! It was perfectly made with the right amount of ice, espresso and cream. I added a couple blue packets of sugar and it was perfect. It was just what I needed! The venue is very bright and inviting. It is smaller but small isn't bad, it's more intimate. I love how simple this place is, not a lot of distractions. I found another great coffee joint downtown to add to my favorite list. I look forward to coming back and grabbing another drink.

I usually hit a couple local joints that are right by the salon I work at. Conveniently, Dawson Taylor was right there so I took it as a sign to head in. This coffee joint is so cool. Walked in and instantly noticed how pretty the shop is. I was greeted right away. I told the gentleman that greeted me that I was going to use the ladies room real quick. I will have to say, the bathroom is so dope. I love all the quotes that were written on the walls. You don't realize how long you're actually in the bathroom when you're reading all the tiles. After reading a handful of tiles, I finally made my way out. I got my usual coffee when I try a new joint out. Gives every shop an even playing field. So I got myself an iced americano with sugar free vanilla and room for cream. I had asked the barista for cream to be poured in the back by him. I had told him about my new kidney when I ordered and that I can't really use communal things. He proceeded to tell me the cream was at the table. I really didn't want to use it but I did. I poured a little of it out before I added the cream to my drink. I also used a napkin to hold the handle. I try not to be a germaphobe but it's hard not to be when your immune system is non existent. I made my way outside to sit under the sun and absorb the afternoon energy. I did add couple packets of my sweetner to my drink to sweetnen it a tad. I like my drinks on the sweeter side. Wow, this drink is absolute perfection. You can taste the espresso. It was very present and bitter. It wasn't watered down and light. I appreciate how bold the espresso is. The cream added a nice richness to the drink. The sweetner did enhance the taste of the vanilla. This americano was so good! I ended up walking to Cecil Andrus park and enjoying the rest of my drink there. It was just what I needed this afternoon. This joint is just another block away from the salon I work at which will be so nice and convenient to head down to for an afternoon caffeinated beverage. Another joint I will have to frequent. I will be back soon for another round of this fabulous americano. Especially after a long day at work.
