This is THE place for the best coffee. I came here to meet up with friends and we all loved the huge variety of coffees (whole bean or you can have them grind it for you). They also have a large quantity of coffees in decanters that allow you to "try before you buy" and that really helped me to decide. Of course, since I fell in love with two, the Sumatra and the Ethiopian coffees, I bought both, so that is the one "danger" to this place....you could easily go broke because there are so many to choose from. It is nice that they also offer muffins, bagels, etc. and they sell the best chocolate covered coffee beans. I highly reccommend this place. read more

I had to send in an updated review of this place because ... they have macadamia milk! I'm on a constant quest to find coffee shops that have this alt milk, and so far this is the fourth one around Boise I've found. Plus, the place is just really, really cozy. You can tell that regulars come in every morning and hang out, and you can tell the nearby businesses have employees who stop over. It also SMELLS SO GOOD. What a magical place! Wall to wall coffee, conversations, smells, sounds, energy! And I am not kidding when I say wall-to-wall coffee. A coffee drinkers dream! I have been here a few times but no time is more magical than a Saturday! I had to wait in line for a bit but it went fast. Breakfast sandwiches, bagels, lattés... all being ordered. The amount of coffee selections can be overwhelming so I always ask at the front, this is what I am looking for, which do you suggest? The most recent one I am going to stick with for a few is the Hawaiian blend, oh my monkey, it is amazing!! A little cream, a pump of organic honey and my Saturday was already compete, and so early too! (Self service cream and sugar bar). If you like to try coffee, this place is awesome to sit down with a friend and try as many coffees as you want before you buy. In a hurry? Have a dollar and some change ready to leave in the "In a hurry" container located on top of the what seems like 30 coffee blends lining the que (line). Are you tired of paying way too much money for coffee at a non-local place? Come here! The biggest coffee is $1.50! Want to take some home? Looks like 14oz bags of coffee are $9+ (I think $9.99). This is a great place to have meetings, do your homework, hangout. There are large relaxing and meeting areas not only in the bustling area but also a whole separate room. This is my go-to for coffee drinks any day! We first discovered their happy hour prices 12 years ago when my kids were in middle school near by. And Mondays you get double punches on your drink card! The staff are ALWAYS friendly, they remember your usuals and they have a lot of fun behind the bar. We have been spending a lot of time of late in the light industrial area of Boise where Treasure Valley Coffee's Roasterie is located and noted there were always many cars in the parking lot. We decided to pop in after a very early morning appointment with a nearby business. "How early?" we asked when he suggested early morning. "I un-lock the front door at 5:45 every morning, any time after that is good." OK then. After meeting coffee in order. There was A LOT TO LIKE here: 1) Friendly people. Both the folks behind the order counter as well as the customers. This seems like a favorites place for the folks who were there. It seemed that but for us these other customers were regulars. 2) A big, sparkling clean, bright space with a couple of rooms and lots of seating options. 3) A few food items from bagels to breakfast sandwiches to cookies. 4) The "aaaahhhh - roma" of brewed coffee and warming sandwiches. 5) A big assortment of coffees from which to choose in pump pots placed here and there. You could taste before you selected the right blend and brew for you. The coffee was nice and hot in each pot. 6) Super reasonable prices; as example two 12 oz cups of coffee and a bagel to share came to under three bucks. THE DRILL is order at the counter and pay for your beverage and eats. Paper / cardboard cups of various sizes are on the counter. Take the size you paid for, find a coffee you want in one of the pump pots and "fill 'er up" for the cup. THE HITCH in the giddyeup that makes this rating squeek in at just under four stars was the coffee wasn't our favorite. We tried several samples and settled on their darkest, boldest roast as the closest to what works for us. Still, we liked it for another possible stop or two when we're in the area. But not enough to suggest it as destination spot or to be regulars ourselves. Which is simply a matter of different strokes for different folks when it comes to coffee and not fault of the establishment. THIS N THAT: 1) PARKING: If the small lot in the front looks full (as it often does) there is a larger lot around the side. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in the door and once inside all on one floor with clear paths of travel and ample standard height seating plus accessible loo. I have driven by Treasure Valley Coffee dozens of times but never stopped in. I thought it was a coffee factory, which it is! But it also has a cute cafe inside! Right when you walk through the door you are blown away by the smell of coffee. They have dozens and dozens of different varieties of coffee. I'm not a coffee drinker (I'm a British tea girl all the way) but I adore the smell of coffee. And that smell made me want to drink coffee! There is so much seating inside from little tables and stools to couches and fluffy arm chairs. They even have adorable local knick knacks that you can purchase as a gift for someone you love. I have loved every coffee that I've gotten from this place - from the regular roasts all the way down to the special roasts/seasonal ones. I've had a macadamia nut one that was delicious and Winter Wonderland during the holidays is a top notch one as well. I found that most the roasts that I get from this place I tend to just drink black because they really don't need anything because they're so well crafted. When I go to places like Starbucks that's where I need cream and "extra stuff" to cover up the burned coffee flavor. But a local shop like this knows what they're doing, and I don't even feel like I need cream or anything else to add to it because it's is good the way it is. read more

I have been buying my 5 gal. water here for about 5 years. Originally when I started using their water, they required a deposit on their bottles, then you bring them back and only pay for their water. Fair. I always take in 5 bottles and get 5 new of the Hagerman Springs Water. The last 3-4 visits, the same lady has been unprofessional and extremely tacky; demanding I 'swear' those are TVC bottles and then looks at me as to determine I am not lying... She could be making coffee, helping another customer and as soon as she hears "bottles returned", she becomes the bottle police. Today was ridiculous, she asked an employee to verify, go for it.... One of the bottles didn't have a sticker on it (but they are all labeled and date stamped with the same TVC marker), the lady tells me, "well I can only give you 4, not 5" in a (you are a lying thief tone), she isn't soft spoken either. When I told her I only buy water from them, it would be impossible for it not to be her precious bottle she cackled back "well I will believe you THIS time"... perfect, because there won't be a next time. Once these are empty, I will be in to get my deposit back. This woman is a manager, possibly an owner. Who treats customers like that???? IT IS A WATER BOTTLE that I PAID FOR. If you are so worried and have a problem with bottles, you need a new system, because treating customer like crap isn't a good one. I wanted to support local, but I don't need to be treated like a freaking criminal when I go to purchase something. My next visit will be to get my bottle deposits back- no more refills for our family. The rest of the staff has always been amazing. It's unfortunate this lady, who runs the ship, is so unpleasant. OK I read the unfavorable review and having been a barista I am surprised the person didn't mention anything about the coffee...maybe the customer service was bad because he was super unpleasant (?? just a thought) I have not had ANY bad service or coffee drinks here. Lattes are great, Breve's are wonderful and pump flavored coffees are awesome!! They have great gifts for coffee and tea lovers and more. The servers are super nice and I have been here many many times, I drive out of my way to come here ( trust me I don't do that for many things!) We ordered one for a gift to give a coach at my daughters gym & the other for us! It was such a huge hit at the gym that ALL the coaches drank it, enjoyed it & they will be requesting more in the future..LOL Our coffee here at the house was a Holiday hit & the many guest we had visit were impressed with the brand as well. Every time I call to order the staff is so friendly & accommodating, which makes the process so much easier. Note-asked for it ground as your preference if you have an auto dip coffee pot: it's all packed as whole bean. There is no additional cost to have them grind it for you! This is easily the best coffee in Boise! The staff is awesome and the selection of drip coffees and espresso is crazy. I have been coming here for over two years now and this place is consistently good. If you are around at lunchtime, they serve a good selection of soups and bagels. I like the tomato basil and baked potato soups the best. When ordering espresso drinks, try the Espresso Gold beans to give a jump start to any of your old espresso favorites. Good coffee and I really appreciate this places generosity. They let you try several coffees located throughout the store along with creamers, sugars, etc. I feel bad sometimes as you can get your coffee fix just by walking the store and trying different coffee samples. What I really love about this place is there is an honesty jar where if you don't want to wait in line, you can drop $1 for a cup and go fill it up with any of the coffees located throughout the store. Since the line for the fancy drinks can sometimes be long, I love having the option for regular old coffee for $1 with no wait. I love it! The interior is nice with a variety of places to sit including tables, high tables, old fashioned chairs and some cushioned chairs. Overall, it is a really cool place and I love filling up my 3 gallon water bottles with reverse osmosis well water for $.025 a gallon. read more

I always try to check out the local coffee shops when I visit a new town, so when The Roastere came up I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did! The prices are great and the coffee is even better. They have a TON of different beans from sanani to french roast to arabica and mocha-java and most of them are brewed on tap. You can do self serve or order an espresso drink from their bar. I also saw they had various pastries and food items on the menu. There was a corner where they had about 6 different flavored coffees, and I poured myself a cup of their cinnamon hazelnut. I purchased some beans before I left, a flavored blend called "snickerdee". There are also some gifty things around the shop like huckleberry jam and chocolate espresso beans. The coffee really stood out and it all tasted fabulous. I worked at a bank years ago that had this company's coffee delivered and though I was never impressed, it was several years ago and so I was excited to give this place another try (as I'm absolutely always on the prowl for fabulous coffee houses). Unfortunately, I wasn't wowed. My dining companion (and fellow coffee fanatic) and I both ordered espresso beverages (he ordered the daily special dubbed the "little bunny foo-foo" and I ordered some sort of a flavored mocha) and though the beverage names were cute, the beverages themselves were weak and overly sweet. I, honestly, couldn't even really taste the espresso at all (which is just plain tragic). We also sampled their food selection. My dining companion ordered an asiago bagel and I ordered a chocolate chocolate chip muffin (what can I say? I like chocolate!). His bagel smelled delish and was reportedly as tasty as it smelled (so yay for the bagels!). My muffin,however, was slightly hard and stale (bummer). Other yelpers seem to really love this place so I was kind of surprised it wasn't my cup of tea (or coffee as the case may be). The inside décor is cute and they do have quite a bit of seating if you're in a group, so that's something. Aaahhh....beans. Fresh beans. Also, coffee drinks and accoutrement. And soup, and bagels, and really quite good fruit smoothies. Mostly, beans. Roasted on site, so when you're outside the smell is of freshly burnt beans. But inside it's super. Easy to try different beans as there are usually at least 6 airpots of brewed coffee for sampling. Ample seating inside and out. Close around 5pm and aren't open Sundays. They actually deliver beans for businesses/offices all over, so you've probably tried them already. read more

I must confess to a love-affair with their Moochino drink. Ice cream, espresso, and cinnamon...yumm! I always seem to have a good experience at the Roastere. There is always plenty of seating accessible, great WiFi, and the smiling service is unbeatable. Happy hour from 2-4 pm is one of their great draws as is the selection of brewed roasts - it's a good place for the coffee connoisseur. My only issues with this place is their hours (closed on Sunday and in the evenings) and the sloooow service. The baristas are wonderful, but it's not a place you want to come if you are in a time crunch. read more

I have visited The Roasteré a handful of times over the past year. While I enjoy the coffee, ample outlet access, free wifi, and comfy seating, it's not enough to outweigh the harassment I've received from some of the "regulars". Every time I've been there, there have been groups of older men sitting and chatting and inevitably, one or more of them will say something derogatory to me. For example, several months ago, as a group of self-identified Christian men were ending their meeting, one of them approached me and asked, "Aren't you afraid to be a single woman in a room full of men?" I was concentrating on my work, so I didn't feel the need to engage him in conversation. After the fact, I thought of several things I could have said to him. Yesterday, two older men walked in and stood next to the table where I was sitting. While looking at me, one of them said to the other, "Doesn't she know that's your table? She must have ignored the reservation sign." They stood there for a moment, looking at me, before walking to another table. After they walked away, I packed up my things and left, and I won't be back. There are plenty of other coffee shops around where I can spend my money and not have to deal with unwanted negativity from other patrons. read more

I am just blown away at any low ratings of this place. It is easy the best coffee place in town bar none and PERIOD. From the outside it looked like a warehouse which I thought maybe they store coffee and ship it out only. However when you get out of your car you can easily smell the freshest coffee bean roasting that I have ever smelled. So as I floated on the aroma boat that was now carrying me inside the doors, I wasn't disappointed when I entered. Plenty of places to sit in the seating area. Almost like home and as I walked toward the counter there was an enormous amount of selections of coffee. I will eventually try them all. (not 1 or 2 and make a judgment on the whole establishment like some have) I also walked by a roasting machine like I have never seen freshly roasting coffee beans and finally giving me the payoff of where all of the great aroma was coming from. As I ordered I couldn't help to enjoy the informative and friendly staff. All you have to do is ask. I explained this was the first time I had ever been in here and I asked what they recommended. The staff took time to ask what I normally liked in a coffee , which they went over plenty of great options and they took time to explain some venturous recommendations if I wanted to try something new. I could even sample the many coffees they had. In fact I may spend a few mornings sampling several coffees to find what I like best, and they are opened to that. Wish I worked or lived near. Once a week is about all I can get there, but I would take a vacation day and spend the morning there. Maybe this was a onetime surreal experience for me or maybe it was because I really wanted a cup of joe as my experience seems to be much more impressive than some that have commented.
