Here's a polished version that keeps your voice and avoids sounding overly polished or AI-written: Love this coffee roaster and café. The coffee is fantastic and perfectly matched by the warm, friendly service. I especially enjoy finding a window seat, slowing down, and savoring a great cup of coffee. Before leaving, I picked up a pound of freshly ground coffee for my espresso machine. The staff's recommendation was spot on. We made our first cup at home, and it was even better than the brand we normally buy. Highly recommend stopping in, whether you're looking for a great place to relax or some exceptional beans to take home. read more

This review is soley about their subscription service. I love trying new coffee beans especially from coffee shops that I will probably never get a chance to try in person! The story behind how this family business came about is pretty cool. I put my order at around 11 pm pacific time and by 7 am next day I got an email saying that they are working on my order and by like 4 pm my beans were on their way to CA! I mean that is excellent service. I got my shipment 2 days after and the smell of the packages was just DIVINE! I am so looking forward to trying their beans! read more

Dawson Taylor Coffee Roasters - When you are so excited to try new coffee beans that you start buying beans from out of your state! - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Boise, Idaho

The BEST vanilla latte ever!!! The service was so amazing. It's very aesthetic but also great for studying!

To say I enjoyed this coffee is an understatement...the pour over coffee was fantastic. So much so I had to get a second cup and take beans home with me to Nevada. Coffee is my thing, I love seeking out local roasters when I travel and this coffee has been the best by far. The baristas were phenomenal, so friendly and helpful. And I loved seeing where the beans are roasted. Such a cool aspect of the ambiance. Next time I am I. Boise, I will definitely be back. Highly recommend. read more

They roast their beans on site where you can go and see the action happen! The store is super modern and quiet. Baristas are super helpful and friendly. They pointed out their summer specials when I said I wanted something sweet. Ended up going for their pineapple express. It had a mango black tea base that kind of reminded me of starbuck's old mango tea. The tea wasn't mind blowing but it was decent. read more

The roasting wizards and staff are above average helpful! I have succumbed to the subscription service as FRESHLY roasted, unique choices and front door delivery... the prices are fair. I'm not a fan of the shipping costs but that's not on them. I have enclosed a picture of DT single source coffee from Costa Rica. I brought this to a friend who has a restaurant that service supreme Tarrazu grown coffees. They loved with a Chemex ... he described this way "its roast mild flavor soft, with little acids, it's very refreshing." Finally, as I age, I have become significantly more caffeine sensitive. DT's decaf selection, as well as their typical fresh roasting, has allowed me to enjoy flavor and aromas. read more

Great latte Great roasted beans Will be back Friendly service We Enjoyed everything read more

Great coffee from friendly staff! There's plenty of options to choose from, none of which you wouldn't find at any other café. However, you would be getting a cup of Joe from beans that they roast under the same roof at this location. You can check out the roasting room while waiting for your drink to be made! read more

I am a big fan of this place. The coffee is reasonably priced and they have a number of different roasts to choose from. The baristas are always friendly and they open early! read more

Was craving for something hot to drink walking in chilly weather and came across this place. A lot of people were inside enjoying their drinks so I thought maybe I'd stop by. You don't get the warm and fuzzy feeling inside when you enter this establishment but they have a pretty good hot matcha green tea latte with oat milk. read more

"Dawson Taylor." When that's the answer to the question I always ask when offered coffee in a local restaurant, "What kind of coffee do you pour?", I'm happy to order and sip. So when Dawson Taylor's owner opened Roast as 'slow bar' in December 2016 at the Lusk District building that also holds DT's coffee roastery and warehouse, it caught my attention. Dawson Taylor was then still owned by the company's founder who started the business in 1995. His is one of those great 'local man does big things' stories of a coffee company being launched in a garage, and named after the owner's then infant son, evolving to become a very successful enterprise. Good coffee grew loyal fans among home consumers who bought beans at local stores, like the Boise CoOp, as well as business accounts for restaurants and college cafeterias. The Dawson Taylor bright downtown located coffee house was a popular gathering spot for good coffee, light eats and friendly hospitality. When Roast was launched at the roastery site as slow-bar companion to the downtown coffee house, perhaps serving a different kind of coffee drinker in a more industrial vibe, I anticipated the same DT signature of friendly space and service. (In particular based on the Roast launch open house where donuts and pour over were shared.) But, alas, not so much. Is it because about 10 months after Roast's opening, in October 2017, Hayden Beverage Company, Idaho's largest distributor of beer and wine and of beverages elsewhere with about 350 employees in Idaho, Montana and Washington, bought Dawson Taylor? I don't know. The purchase agreement included the DT founder staying on for several years and it was intended to be all good for DT as Hayden brought the cash of a larger business which would allow DT to purchase lots of rare coffee beans. But just about a year into the Hayden ownership, Dawson's original owner left. (I hear he now lives on a coffee plantation somewhere - no kidding.) And it seems to me, a longtime DT fan, that the charm of Dawson Taylor for customer focus and quality departed with him. Roast's vibe and service might be examples of that. VIBE: This could be an exciting place to be with a little work, given one is in the roastery and warehouse building, but it seemed dark and unwelcoming, service was haltingly reserved with information about the coffee not volunteered but needing to be wrestled out, and the small array of coffee friendly eats that once graced the small glass case at the coffee bar are mostly missing. There are a few tables inside the dark space where one can sip and work on laptops, which is what the few customers inside seemed to be doing but, for the most part, absent beverages. Our coffee was take-away given the space didn't invite lingering. Close proximity to a student apartment might make this a fit for students looking for hang out to get some work done. But it is not a place we'd consider as "let's meet up for coffee" destination. And boy, I'll tell ya...given drinking coffee does has the natural outcome (no pun intended...well maybe) of needing to visit the loo, one would have to be in dire straights to want to use the one here which, on my recent visit, had trash can overflowing onto floor and looked like a good cleaning was in order. When this was coffee roaster and warehouse only, maybe that was thought acceptable to the employees who work here (alas) but if the business is serving the public, they need to pay attention to things like this. PARKING: On street. The small (four or so) paved lot next door is for Madre Taqueria customers. ACCESSIBILITY: Although the Lusk District is emerging for retailers who serve customers inside (as in the wonderful Madre next door), ACHD has not yet added sidewalks and curb ramps where they need to be so accessibility in the area is difficult given gravel surrounds. (As a person with MS I notice this.) But Roast itself is accessible - level in the door and all on one level with some standard height tables available and the loo is accessible too. NEIGHBORS: In addition to Madre (serving delicious, artisan tacos in a cool and warmly inviting interior space with outdoor seating too), the Boise Bicycle Project is next door and Jim's Appliance and a BSU student apartment are a block-ish away in different directions. FUN TIP: They have for sale here, at 'nearly-free' prices, the burlap bags in which coffee beans arrive. Some of those bags have unique artwork on them and if you're the creative and crafty type, you might see an opportunity to frame them and use them as art or turn them into tote bags with cool fabric linings (as a clever person did with bags from an Oregon coffee roaster where I used to live and then sold the totes at the roastery's coffee bar). Or recycle them in a home garden. I pondered those options as I waited on my coffee to brew. read more

Really great coffee and ambiance! More food options would be great but they do coffee right!

Dawson Taylor's coffee house downtown on 8th has been my regular spot for espresso for the past year. I've always wanted to visit the main roaster where it all comes from, less than a mile away. The story and roots in Boise definitely caught my attention. In need of some fresh whole beans for my home espresso machine, what better then go direct to the source. Dropped in on a Saturday afternoon for a bag of my absolute favorite at the moment, Costa Rica La Minita Estate. While there I couldn't leave without a cup, and you get a discount when buying a bag of beans. If you want the freshest beans and the lowest price, it's worth dropping into the roaster for direct buy. read more

I have never had a bad coffee from Dawson Taylor... It is no wonder why every popular restaurant in town chooses to serve their incredible brew. I went for the first time this summer and was delighted by the smells, pastries, drink options and kindness. The employees were warm and helpful. The retail side is aesthetic as all get out. I sit here writing this in a severe September rain with the doors open. I think I have found my new favorite coffee shop! (Plus it's so close to BSU and my apartment)! read more

Just walking the streets of Boise, I saw a dog outside on a patio and knew it was pet friendly. I decided to stop in for a quick breakfast: coffee and pastry. Didn't realize it was donut day, but I already had my eyes set on this almond croissant and the donuts were just sitting out. I should've stuck with the free donut. The almond croissant was too crispy to my liking and there wasn't enough almond paste inside. The drip coffee is good, better than Starbucks. I do like that it's dog friendly! The outside patio is great for people watching read more

Dawson Taylor spares no expense. Their carmel syrup has no HFC--it's all real butter and sugar. Their mexican mocha mix is organic and sans trans fats. Plus they use the most expensive brand of soy milk, because it tastes the best--Pearl. They also have their roastery in Boise. I am always shocked by how intense the flavor profiles are of this coffee. They also have a great staff--really friendly. read more

Roast is probably my favorite coffee spot. It is always nice and quiet and the perfect spot to pick up coffee beans (can you get any more fresh??) and a drink. If you are in Downtown Boise and have to have coffee, this place is ok but that is about it. The staff is friendly enough and the internet is speedy but their coffee isn't great. They insist on using chocolate powder in any of their mocha drinks and that means those drinks are always clumpy with little meteors of chocolate orbiting around your straw. They are also a tad spendy. Having said all of that, they are better than Thomas Hammer that is directly across the street from them. read more

This was the first business that I stopped in during my visit to downtown Boise. It was not a good first impression. Coffee was okay, it had a strange after taste. The ladies working there were unfriendly. So I am glad That I didn't judge Boise on this experience because it is a fun and friendly town with lots of other coffee shops. read more

We have been selling Dawson Taylor coffee at our cafe for about a year now. Thier employees come in and do barista training with our students and we also have an exclusive muffin we make for the downtown store. It is called the Big Thunder Mountain and a new variation is the "Big Chocolate Thunder Mountain"; Hearty bran muffins with chocolate and zucchini. It is to die for! Of course, we have a bit of a bias. The gang at DT really know thier coffee - accept no substitutes! read more

GREAT BARISTAS who always have a cheery attitude and make the CUTEST DESIGNS in your latte! That always makes me feel special and increases my tip substantially. Besides that, Dawson Taylor's standard, called Back Country Blend, is our absolute favorite. When I am tempted to buy cheaper coffees, I always regret it and return to buy Back Country Blend. After all, LIFE'S TOO SHORT FOR BAD COFFEE. Top that off with their commitment to fair trade coffees and selling exclusively water-processed decaffeinated coffee and you have, in my opinion, one of the best roasters in the Treasure Valley. The atmosphere is nice; there's plenty of room and free wi-fi. I wish they had a few more comfy chairs and funky local art...but hey, it's all about the coffee and that is where they excel! read more

I had been buying all of my beans here since moving to Boise- solid coffee at a decent price. It usually takes 10 minutes to get beans so I work this into my stop. That said, on my last visit it took 30 minutes, which resulted in a $40 parking ticket (don't park out front) and being late to work- this was my last visit I'll pay more somewhere else if I can get in and out in a reasonable time frame. read more

My entire family loves this coffee! So excited to have found this amazing place. Dawson Taylor European Dark is our favorite that we first purchased at our sadly closed, go to, grocery store, Roshaurs. Not available at our nearby stores. This location is the roasters! We can call ahead and they have it ready for pick up when we get there. Always friendly and helpful service. The coffee beans; so fresh, smell amazing and result in a delicious brew! FYI, the office to pre-order on Lusk Ave is only open Monday through Friday. You can pick up on Saturday, however, if you don't order ahead you will have to wait for them to blend it on a Saturday. Absolutely worth the wait and a great cup of coffee is offered if you are buying beans. BTW, many of the best restaurants in the area have Dawson Taylor create their own special blend. read more
