I was at the hospital today for my weekly labs. When I was done, I wanted to grab a sweet treat for my husband for breakfast. Apple fritters are his favorite so I Googled the nearest joint that has apple fritters Goldy's Corner popped up so I made my 2 minute drive there. For a sunny Monday morning, downtown was pretty chill. Got myself a front row parking spot and made my way in. The vibe in the joint was just the same as this Monday morning, chill. You see a few guests enjoying their morning caffeine with some friends. Another guest having his chess board all ready for a serious game while sipping on his drink. I love it. The display case was full of goods. You have a great variety of savory and sweet options. I did a run through of everything and the one thing I came in for wasn't there. The sweet gal behind the counter greeted me with the friendliest smile. I asked her about the apple fritters and she nicely told me they didn't have any today. Last week, last week they had the fritters. So, I got my husband his second favorite thing and that is a huge cinnamon roll. It was beautifully displayed in the case. It was perfectly frosted and hearty. It looked like the perfect pastry to grab for him. I got my cinnamon roll all boxed up and was excited to bring it home to the hubby. The sweet gal told me to call ahead next time to see if they were planning on having fritters available that day. I also appreciate that she tried to direct me to other joints to grab a fritter. I told her that I have been to the shops she recommended but I was happy with the cinnamon roll. I look forward to taking my huge bite of this cinnamon roll when I get home. I am positive my husband will love it, he's never had a locally made cinnamon roll that he didn't like. The shop was really chill and relaxing. The gal that worked today was sweet and kind. Goldie's corner is just that, a restaurant located on the corner where you can grab a cookie and a small bite to eat. Note: this isn't the full Goldy's restaurant as that is next door. We enjoyed our coffee with unlimited refills and took a booth where you can people watch and we could see the capitol building. Friendly staff and good coffee. I appreciate the variety of baked goods and even the discounted day old items. Good place to grab a coffee when you don't have much time. Loved the artwork on display too. Several little tables here and booths and one larger table. My quiche was good. Everything I expected and I got the day old banana bread which was dried up and hard on the edges and soft in the middle. I guess that's why they discount it. A great little spot for a tasty pastry and a warm drink! We stumbled upon it while waiting for our table at a nearby restaurant and trying to escape the cold wind. The Spicy Mocha here is one of the best espresso drinks I've had in 2024. Perfectly pulled espresso, rich chocolate and cayenne flavors, all while not being too sweet. I am not sure which variety of oat milk they use, but it was smooth and creamy. The barista working (I think her name is Penny) was lovely. I needed a small bag of ice for a local event, and she kindly filled up a plastic bag for me without hesitation. Greatly appreciated. read more

Sometimes, just about every day, around 9am, I'm ready for "second breakfast." I found myself in this situation today while visiting from out of town. I didn't need a a full meal, but a pastry and a coffee-which they perfectly satisfied. There are a few tables and booths with ample seating for the morning crowd meandering to work or having a quick breakkie appointment, which we noticed a few people were doing. My wife and I happily joined in, placed an order and sat in a corner table enjoying our snack. This is a great local spot downtown that you can get a quick bite to eat, coffee, or an alcoholic drink and get some work done on your laptop or meet up with colleagues for a group meeting. I used to love coming here in college to work on papers or homework and I still love coming here to get work done! The food here is really delicious and you can get breakfast-y goodness at all hours! Their breakfast sandwiches and quiche are among my favorites. The mimosas here are amazing and HUGE - the biggest in boise. My favorite is their lavender mimosa-- you have to try it! They also have amazing coffee drinks, and yes there's an option to make it "Irish" by adding coffee liquor. The staff here is awesome! Firts time in. I loved the food. It was really busy and its a small space. It was hard to social distance inside but no one seem to mind. The service was good. I had a chorizo tomato onion omelet and i i was very impressed with how much the onion and tomato tasted it was delicious. I wasn't to impressed with the sliced of sourdough French toast. Stayed at The Grove for a weekend getaway and stumbled upon Goldy's.....hooray for us! We tried to get into Goldy's Breakfast Bistro but they were full, but the extremely friendly host took us over to the corner where we were greeted by another friendly, courteous server. The food was excellent, my wife had some kind of hash brown mix that was awesome and I went off script getting stuffed French Toast. It was delicious as was the coffee. We ordered two pastries. The peanut butter bar was really good! My scone pastry tasted okay, something seemed off about it. I ended up flipping it over and the whole bottom side was covered in black mold. The women working said "Oh I thought I had removed all the expired ones out" then issued a refund for the one moldy pastry. Big bummer as this place seemed nice. Wont be returning. read more

This is the spot to go if you want good food, pastries, and a chill atmosphere. I do all my studying here and love the weekend hours. I have never had a bad beverage or pot of tea. The workers are incredibly friendly too. If you love cream puffs, pie, cinnamon rolls, cookies, cheese cake, no bakes, brownies, scones and more this is your spot. They also serve a limited menu of diner food after 6ish! I see people commenting that the environment needs a touch up but I disagree. Many coffee shops are too worried about looking cool and fail to provide comfort and quality dishes. My one complaint is the music can be flat out bad and on occasion too loud... read more

Tried a cinnamon roll with nuts and a chocolate chip cookie that looked really good in the case. It was awful. The cookie was stale and was completely lacking in salt so I was flavorless. The cinnamon roll was just average. The guy that helped me was really friendly though, hence the second star. Note to self... if I ever give this place another try, ask them how fresh the items I'm interested in purchasing are. Was salt added to the recipe? Goldy's Corner is absolutely golden! For a coffee shop in Boise, it truly is an up and coming joint that will be the place to hang out for an early morning wake up call or a late late weekend night. I'll be sitting at one of the booths near the window, on a late Friday night studying until the live music comes in to play. In the meantime, women are preparing to assemble for a night of clubbing by splurging on the happy hour that's provided. Personally, I've never had the alcoholic drinks they make, but they look good. It's interesting, late at night when people are done dancing they'll come in looking for something to eat, and the large cinnamon rolls seem to be very popular. The coffee I drink is very sweet and is usually all I'll order. It's the White Macadamia Nut Latte. Very good. It's my substitute for Stumptown coffee. Most importantly though, is the Goldy's Corner staff. From the girls to the guys that treat you like a friend, who are truly respectful no matter who walks in. Well, unless you're out to cause trouble late at night and then you'll have to deal with Danny, you the man Danny! Then there's Alex, who was kind enough to give me a free drink card twice, thank you dude. Then there's the girls, they're down to earth and sweet, they're truly who you'd be happy with bringing your coffee to your table or chair. Everyone is easy going, but also know how to run a tight ship. It's perfect. Not very many people in Boise are aware that Goldy's Corner is separate to Goldy's Breakfast Bistro. What a brilliant idea. This coffee shop is adjacent to Goldy's restaurant. Goldy's restaurant is a popular breakfast place in the Boise area so when you have an hour wait. What better way to keep people nearby than to have a coffee shop next door. It certainly worked in our case. In case you get a little crazy they have snacks there as well. A selection of sundry items as well bandages, aspirin, and the like. Quite cozy and nice to hang out with friends. I believe they have wi-fi there as there was one person working on a computer in there but I don't know for sure. The restaurant around the corner takes your cell number and calls you when your table is ready. Very handy. I would come back here with or without going to the restaurant around the corner. read more

The quality is mostly consistent and the atmosphere is nice and the noise volume is never too loud. The rotating art items and the little retail items made by local Boiseans give the place a great vibe. The food items are usually loaded and crafted with ingredients that go amazingly well with each other. The staff give you good suggestions if you don't know what to try and when you pick an item they give you a side of salsa, sriracha sour cream, etc that pair up nicely with what was ordered. The espresso is usually made to perfection, but the bad cup of espresso is unavoidable due to the art of making espresso, or being picky. Truly as good as a coffee shop gets. read more

Good spot for the overflow from Goldie's Breakfast Bistro, Goldie's Corner just a few doors down serves lattes, expresso and coffee along with homebaked pastries. Sorry to whine, but I have to gripe that the soy latte was watery: not with the substantial crema and strong expresso flavor I covet. (Granted, I've been living in Seattle lately, and Seattle coffee standards can be high.) The girls behind the counter were adorable, but not experienced baristas. The baked goods were stored and served in saran wrap, which did kinda lessen the aesthetic of dining at Goldy's Corner, despite the apt consideration to hygiene. I can say that morning I appreciated that Goldie's Corner was there, since it provided us a good spot to wait patiently for a table at Goldies Breakfast Bistro. But then, after waiting about an hour, I started to get grumpy. And this is when I started to suspect that maybe Goldie's had a more sinister plan. Two breakfasts. Yes. You heard me. Its basically a genius business move. Why expand the original dining room to shorten wait times? What if instead, customers would eat two separate breakfasts in one day? Think about it. With an hour to two hour wait times for Goldie's Bistro (and with a no reservations policy) hungry customers eat a first breakfast course at Goldie's Corner (coffee cake, expresso, banana bread) while waiting to eat the big breakfast at Goldie's Breakfast Bistro. Then, once seated, that full menu looks so good, and you've waited so long,... Okay. Round 2. Bring it. Genius. That's two breakfasts, and lots and lots of carbohydrates, folks. From a customer perspective, its not particularly cost effective or efficient to eat breakfast twice. Be forewarned that despite being sleepy, and in a haze of hunger, there are real consequences for these types of decisions,. Once the coffee cake, cinnamon roll and pancake frenzy has concluded, these things become painfully, painfully clear. read more

This is my favorite place to pick up cup of coffee in the mornings. It's also a great place to snag a pastry and hang out if you've got the time. The staff is friendly and the coffee is good. I haven't had proper breakfast here (I just go to Goldy's for that), but the half breakfast burritos are great. The coffee is decently priced but the food can be a bit pricey. There is also a little knickknack corner where you can purchase some local artists' work, a selection of teas, coffees, and funky magnets.
