As hard as it was not to grab thick slice of the loaf in front of me, I just stuck with my iced sugar free brown sugar cinnamon breve. I chilled at one of the big tables while I was waiting for my drink. It gave me a chance to absorb everything about the coffee shop. I love the big mural of old school Hyde Park. I adore the books along the wall for the kiddos to enjoy. It was great seeing people out and about. People laughing and enjoying their company and drinks. It's honestly one of the dopest shop I have hit up. The second barista was sweet and handed me my drink. I chilled at the big table and enjoyed my first couple sips. The espresso is strong! You can taste it. I did add a packet of sweetner, I like my caffeinated beverages on the sweeter side. It was just what it needed. My breve was absolutely delicious. My drink was creamy, flavorful from the SF brown sugar cinnamon syrup and the sweetner helped with the intensity of the espresso. It was so good. I have been to quite a few coffee joints in town and I like a lot of them. But there's something about this shop that is so different from the rest. It's in such a neat area. The shop has such a charming vibe to it. They pushed out a great product and the staff was super nice. I will most definitely have to take a detour to this joint before heading to work downtown. I was suggested to call in and see if they were some available the day of. So, I called in this morning to do an apple fritter check. I talked to Emily this morning. I was told that they don't serve apple fritters. So, now I'm confused to whether they do or don't sell fritters. She did tell me that they have apple bear claws and an apple bread available. I asked if a bear claw could be set aside for me. With it being Saturday morning, I wanted to guarantee a bear claw after I got off work. I wanted to take one home to my husband since I promised him one. I headed in around 9:30. It was chill so I probably could have just snagged one but I wanted it to be a guarantee. The gal behind the counter grabbed my bear claw. Paid for it and made me way out. On my way to the car, I couldn't help but be baffled to how light the box was. I got into my car and opened the box up. Bro, to call this pastry in this to go box a bear claw has to be a joke. A bear claw to me is big, palm size. Multiple people handling a big claw size. I was so disappointed at how tiny this bear claw was. Honestly, to have it be called bear claw is criminal work. And to have it be pushing 5 bucks is criminal work too. Don't get me wrong, the bear claw was decent. It was frosted. The pastry portion of it was soft and buttery. There was apple but very subtle. The size of it is comparable to street taco but fluffier. To compare a bear claw to a street taco is just insane to me.

Don't miss the opportunity to try the Russian apple cake and in a small freezer case inside the store is a selection of individual sized cups of ice cream by a local maker in unique flavors. As example the browned butter with fresh corn options is outstanding. The baristas are friendly and know their stuff in making beverages to sip. LOCATION: If you know where Amaru Confections was, this is that building. A European auto repair shop bought the building and divided it so the auto shop is on one side and Amanda's on the other. She does the cooking in a kitchen created in a kiosk in the back, a site that used to be a drive through coffee place. Genius. SEATING: Our options so far have been to go, but Amanda's husband built a great deck outside the front of the store and there is seating there, some or maybe all of it with umbrellas for sun protection. A small storefront, so no seating inside. LOO: There is one. So you know when you're wondering if you should have that second cup. ACCESSIBILITY: Level in from sidewalk into shop, ample floor space, loo has accessible signage (although I've never tried it), path of travel to deck space is accessible. No accessible street parking in the area so that is a challenge. There is one ADA compliant spot in the lot behind the building that is the mechanic garage's but is usable.
