Combine a goofy coffee shop with a gift shop, throw in friendly baristas, and honestly, this feels straight out of Portland. More for the hip, liberals in your life! I felt very at home here since I was traveling. I loved sitting at the bar area with plug ins for my computer so I was able to work here for an hour or so. The cute cardboard design on their cups was fun. The matcha latte was reasonably priced and had nice flavor. The bathrooms are in the back hallway. The pastry case was full but I was headed to dinner so I didn't try any. This is a great stop if you want to sit with their free WiFi, or grab it to go and feel hip walking around downtown Boise! read more

Flying M is one of the funnest local coffee shops downtown. They are right across the street from where I work so it's very convenient for my to go grab a cup of fresh joe. I have been here a few times and stopped for a while. Some of the staff weren't the friendliest and I couldn't handle the inconsistency of nice and rude baristas so I stopped coming for a while. It's a cold fall day so a hot drink sounded perfect! I love looking at all the fun nick nacks while you're waiting in line. It's almost guaranteed that there is a wait. The barista that helped me today was lovely! She got my order and my goodies rang up. I headed to a table and hung out. My drink was perfect! It was at the right temperature with the right amount of sweetness. It was a good cup of hot goodness. The only thing that bothers me is the portion. A small is really small here. A med is what you normally get at other coffee joints as a small. I am not a coffee connoisseur, but I have a friend who is works in the coffee roasting business and is a big fan of Flying M coffee. I also don't drink my coffee black, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. The coffee is good, but the chai could have a bit more spice! I prefer my "coffees" with just a touch of sweetness, and this was perfect. They also have a lot of pastries and snacks available to pair with your coffee or drink, tables and chair, so you can hang out a bit, but what I really love is the little novelty shop in the corner. So many unique and quirky little gifts. This would be the perfect place to get stocking stuffers! I just love it. :) I will add some pics soon, because I will be headed there this weekend! read more

I didn't get the chance to try the coffee but the food atones for it. If you're looking for a great gluten free snack (selection is very small) in a queer friendly space Flying M offers what you need. For such a small selection the flavors are quite amazing. They do not know what bland is. I've genuinely never had a dish that couldn't have anything added to it to make it taste better. I had the frittata and the haystack and I usually need ketchup because I'm a sauce girl but these needed nothing to taste as immaculate as they did. For those who can have gluten the breakfast burrito was also nothing short of fantastic offering flavors of peppercorn, semi-sweet chorizo, smoked spices and a very citrusy salsa-which I loved. read more

Everything here is amazing! The vibes are so on with a fun gift shop to browse, nice seating, and real cups/plates used to serve for-here goodies. I come here every time I visit Idaho. We stood at the register while the barista (very short blonde hair) looked at us various times and never acknowledged us. After quite some time a man came to the register and was very friendly. When the barista finished our drinks she called out what we got followed by "and a pain in my side". Not sure what that meant but it was not funny. If there are cameras they should be reviewed, she needs some customer service training. Wont be back to this location. read more

Don't come in here if you're looking for proactive customer service. I wandered around and around, looking at everything and not once did anyone greet me. People did their thing behind the various counters or stocked merch. I was confused because I thought they had more food options than what I was in the case but I didn't see any menu other than drinks. Really, really good coffee. It was a hot day, and we ordered iced lattes since we were walking around town. I almost ordered an add shot because nobody ever seems to make coffee right nowadays...sometimes a "latte" tastes like coffee-flavored milk. Not here. It was strong enough with a bold and delicious flavor. Now that we've covered the most important part, the service was friendly, and our coffees were ready before we even had a chance to look around the fun store. So we grabbed our coffee and had a LOT of fun laughing at all of the funny items they sold there. We were cracking up and having a good time while the caffeine hit our system and made everything right in the world again. read more

Hands down my favorite coffee shop I've ever been to and I've been to over 100! I usually get the caramel vanilla iced breve, and let me just say it's unreal. Somehow you can taste the espresso, cream, vanilla, and caramel all at once, and yet each flavor still shines on its own. I don't even know how to explain it it's just the creamiest, most flavorful, smoothest coffee I've ever had. Not even being dramatic. It's THAT good.And the staff are seriously amazing so down to earth, friendly, and actually care about giving you a good experience. If you don't know what to get, they'll give you an awesome recommendation. They suggested a black iced tea for my boyfriend, and even though it was just a "basic" iced tea, it somehow had this rich, clean, insanely good flavor we weren't expecting. I didn't get any pastries this time but the showcase looked phenomenal and I've heard great things about them. Plus the little gift shop area is adorable I'll definitely be coming back to grab some things. I work nearby and get coffee here pretty often and I can confidently say this is Boise's best coffee shop. Period. read more

Cool little place! My husband and I stopped in this morning, there was a bit of a line but it moved pretty quickly. I got an iced tea that I think she said was peach ginger or something? The flavor was super unique, it was so yummy! My husband got a caramel latte with extra caramel and espresso. He said it was one of the best lattes he has ever had! I ordered a flavored latte and monster cookie to stay. The cashier was very helpful when I was asking questions about the drinks and flavors. The barista was quick and calm and delivered a beautiful latte for me. The monster cookie was truly a monster. Quite large and filling but perfect to go with my coffee and conversation. The shop was busy, but not frantic or loud, still maintaining a coffee zen quality. Customers either cleaned up after themselves or the workers kept the place spotless by being unintrusive. We sat and enjoyed our treats and conversation and never felt rushed. If you are new to the area or just need a quick gift, there is a convenient gift shop located by the front door. Restrooms for the building are available through the back door and down a hallway. All in all , this was a great experience and I would definitely come back whenever I needed a restful break and a jolt of caffeine. read more

I love this local coffee shop. They also have the coolest stickers and fun socks. A lot of cute gifting ideas. I order a dirty chia latte and its the best. So delicious and they brew their own. The guys who work during the key most definitely know what they are doing. We went on Sunday and the girl cashier wasn't very pleasant and you most definitely can taste the difference in how the coffee was made. My hubby definitely enjoys the week guys better. A Boise mainstay. I don't come for the coffee, because I think there are a number of shops with equally good coffee within a two mile radius. However, Flying M is all about the vibe. There's always positive energy inside and since day one Flying M has felt like an inclusive space for everyone. They have lots of seating but sometimes it's hard to find a table. If you go during peak hours you might have to wait for a chair to open up. As you wait, peruse the adorable gift shop attached to the cafe. They've got funky socks, coffee table books, little bags and wallets, and cute knickknacks. There is a wall of hilarious cards that will make anyone's day. While they're a bit pricey I think supporting physical writing and sending someone a smile is always worth it. Back to the coffee: it's fine. I like their matcha, which is frothy and bright. They offer brewed teas with both caffeinated and decaf options. I find the food underwhelming. I got a scone that was dense and dry. They had large cookies that looked a bit crispy rather than chewy. If you go late in the day the pastry option can be very limited. They do try to have vegan and gluten free choices, which I appreciate. Flying M is an institution that supports the community and a fun place to hang out. Having passable food and beverages is okay. read more

This is THE CUTEST coffee shop in Boise. It is AS LOCAL as it gets! We stopped here on our mini-family-stay-cation in the Boise/Meridian area - and it was the highlight of our trip. The chairs, the coffee, the memorabilia on the walls... and did I mention the coffee?!?! My boyfriend is from the area, and said this was the best place in town, and boy he wasn't lying!! I'm totally supportive, hence my 5 stars based on the quality of the coffee, but it's overly sexual. Flying M is a great downtown Coffeehouse. I wish there was one in Meridian but then my friends at Lucky Perk, Urban Fox and others wouldn't see me as much. Flying M is like Cheers, where everyone knows your name. The service is outstanding and they clearly show a passion for using mugs and glassware to reduce waste. They even offer Oatly as a creamer for coffee. How cool is that. There's pastries and a gift shop and those things are cool but you know how some corporate coffee locations are so freaking loud and obnoxious? That was not our experience on a lovely but drizzling Saturday afternoon. Sure , it was busy and there were the usual suspects: * Romantic couple * Laptop person working * Laptop person mixing music / videos * Laptop person streaming * Businessmen discussing ROI and Spreadsheets w/o laptops * Friends catching up * Hipsters, Teenagers, Vegans, and more. The thing is that everyone was able to have their conversation without being overpowered by the next tabletop. So, while we were able to gaze into each other eyes and have a meaningful conversation, we weren't distracted by the next table. I don't know if it's the acoustics or the design of the floor but it is much appreciated. What's the point of meeting someone for coffee when you can't talk to them. It is quite a relief not having to compete to speak to your companion. Flying M is definitely a cool place and a one of kind locale. Flying M is a Boise gem! I love to take visitors to Boise here mostly because of the iconic gift shop attached. It's a really fun and hip place to grab a coffee and meet with a friend. In college, this was one of my favorite spots to study at or meet up with a group for a project. Pre-covid there were a lot of big tables that you could plug into and get lots of work done! There are still a few tables that you can sit at now but it is obviously catered towards smaller groups of people. Another great perk of Flying M is that there is a parking lot in the back, something truly rare downtown! The coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and pastry treats are all very good. I usually get a latte with almond milk and lavender syrup. I have had their no-bake cookie, which I believe is vegan and is made of oatmeal and peanut butter. It tastes like it was home-made with lots of love. I love all of their non-dairy and vegan options here, anyone and everyone can enjoy something here! What really makes this place great are the people who work here and the values that the company has. This space and its people are inclusive and welcoming to all. read more
