Two enterprising young women are owners of this gem of a popular West Bench neighborhood gathering…read morespot that they created in what was an old dump of a 1950's era strip mall space and funded in part with crowd sourcing. Being curious since they opened this in Fall'ish 2024 and finding myself in the neighborhood, this was a destination stop for my husband and me when we went in about 11:30 on a weekday for coffee and a nosh. Pride of ownership shines in the clean and funky feeling interior and it is clearly popular because it was full, almost every seat, of people that seemed from the neighborhood, including a number of parents with young children. They advertise this as coffee and market, but I honestly didn't notice the market part, in that things for sale didn't jump out at me. That may have been because I was just trying to navigate to a seat in and out in the crowded space. THE MO: Coffee and the limited menu for food is ordered at the counter, carry to your seat and bus your own when finished. Although we were the only people at the counter and there were two people in the kitchen, it took quite some time for someone to come to take the order, although once someone finally saw us, they were pleasant, if not welcoming, in taking the coffee order and then again when my hubby went back to order pastries to go with it. MENU: Coffee, other beverages and a very small option of eats is listed behind the counter and on a paper menu there. Options included soup of the day and Gaston's bakery pastries. There were some breakfast sandwiches by local provider Poppyseed Bakery in the fridge section, we weren't told about them but seeing them when passing by the fridge on a trip to the loo, asked if they could be heated and were told they could be. We chose a couple of pastries ($5.50 each) and were reminded why we seldom buy Gaston's products for being too buttery and one note. The cortado ($4) were good. I noticed a woman at the table across from us who was sipping a beverage and eating what looked like a sandwich she had carried in. I don't know if that is part of allowable stuff or not. The pottery used for all of their coffee service, ours and the mugs at other tables, is great. AMBIANCE: They did an admirable job here of making this light and bright and just funky enough with pride of ownership and loving care in maintenance sparkling through. Seating includes a few level in, not step up, booths along one wall, a sofa and chairs near the front and many standard height tables and chairs (maybe too many when all full as getting to seat is tough) and a play area for kids in the corner. It had far less comfortable 'breathing room' space than I anticipated from photos. But I didn't take interior photos to post because I think it is rude to do that when lots of people are going to be in them who maybe don't want to be. ;-) LOO: There are two and both are uni and sparkling clean with great murals on the wall and good plumbing fixtures. My husband even pointed out the "cool" sink. Both are ADA compliant so kudos to them for that. (Yes, it is law and code but you'd be astounded by how many ignore both.) ACCESSIBILITY: One ADA parking spot right outside the door. (There are too few spots for the parking lot but that is not the coffee shop owners' failure. That is the lot owner's issue.) Level in the door. All on one floor. The tables would probably work for a wheelchair user to roll under. But it would be near impossible, based on my experience yesterday (I have had multiple sclerosis since age 20 and sometimes use a wheelchair) for a wheelchair user to get between tables and chairs for a clear path of travel to get to seating or the loo.

Very cool space and great ambience. My only suggestion would be to add a bit of lighting. I was trying to read under the sign and it was quite dark. I would have never known about this shop if it wasn't for Google or Yelp. I had an hour before closing so I headed in real quick for a caffeinated beverage. Pulling up to the joint, it doesn't look like your basic coffee shop. It honestly looks like an office building. I love that they had Disciples in big bold letters on the door. It was a nice sign that I am in the right place. Walking in, this place is cool. Cool in mood, cool in atmosphere and cool in vibe. It's really quiet and chill. A great place to have an intimate coffee date or work. I was instantly greeted by a gentleman behind the counter. He grabbed my order and got my drink started. I ordered my usual drink today. A small iced americano with cream. They didn't have any sugar free syrup options which is a bummer. He did ask if I want monk fruit or stevia sweetner, I passed on both. He did offer raw honey so I took up on that offer! He finished my drink and I noticed there wasn't any cream. It was filled to the top so it was pretty watered down. He did pour some of the coffee out and added the cream. The raw honey was nice but it still wasn't sweet enough for me so I added a packet of blue sweetner. It's a drinkable cup of coffee but it does lack flavor cause it was so watered down. I had really high hopes for this joint. After reading the reviews, I had high expectations. It looked like they pushed out great coffee! The venue and the gentleman were on point today but my drink was a flop. While waiting for my drink, I noticed all the cool patches from different police departments. Supporting our police departments is so important to me! They protect and serve us so they have my highest respect. I appreciate the different badges on display. I feel bad that I didn't really like my drink. I do want to come back and try again! I don't know if our addition of raw honey threw of dude while he was making my drink. This place is too cool not to come back. If I'm down Chinden again and I'm in need of a caffeinated beverage, I'll be stopping in here again.

I decided to head in and see what the vibe was like. It's a pretty chill venue. It's a smaller joint. They have quite a few tables to hang at inside. Awesome outside seating as well. The main wall was very colorful and bold! I appreciate that everything else about the joint was simple. The simple decor on the merch shelf. The simple tables and chairs. The main thing that caught my eye was the pretty light fixture. I love unique lighting. Everything flowed nicely together! I was instantly greeted by a cute barista behind the counter. She let me check out the drink menu for a bit. I went there for a pumpkin spiced Chai and as fun as it sounded to try something different, I stuck with my original plan. It was later in the afternoon so it was pretty chill. My drink was made pretty quickly. I grabbed a table to sip on it for a bit. Boy was it good! It tasted just like the one I had last week. It was sweet and spicy in spices. I really like the almond milk that they use. It's so creamy and rich. It's the perfect drink for us fall loving folks! My drink made my day today. I also got a cute sticker from the barista. They have them out for you to grab which was cool. The venue is so chill and the staff is great! I'm happy I stopped in today and I'm looking forward to my next stop in!

They have plenty of seating and even have a lovely fire feature you can sit by if you so choose. Plus, in finer weather, there is outdoor seating as well. Bonus reasons for fandom: They serve BOTH a Salted Caramel Mocha and a Mexican Mocha! How to choose? Both are like Autumn in a cup. They have some particularly tasty looking cinnamon rolls (I was just there for coffee but would definitely like to give the cinnamon rolls a try next time!).
