I work next door to their secondary location. I have enjoyed their coffee and masala tea. The vibe down there is chill and the ladies that work there are nice. I was in the area so I decided to stop in and grab an afternoon drink. It was later in the day so it was pretty chill. It was just a couple and myself. I really wanted to try their black sesame latte. It sounded kind of fun to try! But unfortunately it was not available. So after go over their drink menu again, I decided on the saffron tea. My tea came out in a pretty cup with a dainty spoon. I have never had saffron tea before so I didn't know what to expect. It tasted earthy. It was rich in golden color. I did add some honey to it and it was a nice addition to it. I can see myself appreciating this tea that much more if it was colder outside. I enjoyed the venue for a bit and grab a to go cup to take the rest with me. It was nice coming in and grabbing my tea. It was also great supporting a locally woman owned business. I will have to definitely come back and try their highly spoken about dumplings and that black sesame latte. read more

This cute Afghani bakery is in Downtown Boise, just waiting for you to pop in and try it. It's small, but there's big flavor in there! Their sweets are not only beautiful, but tasty, and the staff is friendly and eagerly ready to give you some great recommendations on what to try first. Oh, and don't forget about the coffee! Coffee and pastries go hand in hand. I had a saffron latte, which was so different and delicious. We also tried a few of their cookies, the Baklava, and one of their heavenly tarts. We couldn't settle for just that, so we packed up some more treats and took them home with us! Highly recommended. I love old favorites, but it's so much more fun to try new things. Can't recommend this place enough. I definitely recommend their Turkish coffee as it tastes amazing and I was WIRED. They have excellent customer service. I felt so bad because I just couldn't get myself to like their cinnamon latte so they remad either and everything. Finally, I just had to switch over to Turkish coffee and loved it! They also make freshly made baklava and their other pastries are so good. So delicious. I could have it every day if I wanted to! (And get round and fat ) Parking was easy to find so that was fantastic. Drink you drinking their for here cups not to go. It makes a difference in taste and is absolutely worth it to sit and enjoy your coffee. read more

First time visit this place. Everything looks so beautiful, but the prices are ridiculous!!!! For all this 3 sweets, medium coffee and organice juice we paid $30!!!!!! A huge thank you to the local Yelp Community in Boise for leading me to this absolute gem. Nestled in an unsuspecting strip mall on Fairview, Sunshine Spice Bakery & Cafe, is serving up straight up deliciousness in a crisp, bright, and welcoming environment. In a recent trip to Boise, I came across this spot and always and ever wanting to try all the coffee in any town I visit, we stopped by. I ordered their avocado toast with two eggs and their pumpkin spiced latte. The avocado toast was served on an ample slice of afghani bread (which is light and airy and utterly delicious). The eggs were well seasoned and it came with seasoned tomatoes. Honestly, I'll be dreaming of the deliciousness and make a stop here an absolute priority on my next trip. The coffee was good. It's definitely a sipping sort of beverage and not at all sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but if you're a sweet coffee drinker, this may not be for you. The service was friendly and efficient. The prices were a bit high ($50ish dollars for an order of two avo toast and two espresso beverages after tip). But--worth it. Get to it! read more

Super interesting flavors! Loved the pastries and coffee! Nothing was overly sweet which is always a plus. I got the pistachio latte and my husband got the cinnamon latte. Both were good and have a very strong coffee flavor which we love. We also got the avocado toast, which was delicious. I don't really order avocado toast from cafes or restaurants because it's too basic to spend so much money on. Even though this one is on the pricey side, putting the avocado on Afghan bread (similar to focaccia) makes it interesting enough to try, and we're glad we did! If you order it with egg, just know it has a bit of spice and kick to it but nothing too crazy. Will definitely come back here to try other lattes and pastries. read more

I had an event going on in Boise and knew I would not make it to town in time to go to our regular bakery so I called ahead to Sunshine Bakery. I asked her to hold 2 raspberry desserts and 2 Opera cakes for us. When we got there we added items on. This was supposed to be for my husband and my 38th anniversary with a couple of friends. When it came time to have desserts I was so upset and appalled and how terrible these were. The opera cakes were old and very dry. What we thought was chocolate on the top was some kind of rubbery stuff. The raspberries on the tarts were soft and mushy. I will NEVER go there again. Or even recommend them. If you're going to sell old stuff let your customers know and learn how to make these pastries. A waste of $50. read more

This is my second time at Sunshine Spice and it was just as lovely as my first visit. I spent about $15 (including a tip) on a pistachio latte, pistachio baklava and a hazelnut pastry. I was very happy with everything I ordered. The baklava had the perfect crispness while also still being moist. The pistachio latte is just Devine. It's not too strong in flavor and comes in the cutest cup with a beautiful spoon if you get it for there, I'm all about the small details so I love their consistency in presentation. The ladies who run this bakery are so so sweet, and took wonderful care of my friend and I. They have tables as well as a small bar to sit at inside, it's clean and organized and easy to figure out what they have to offer. read more

I just came in for my favorite avocado and tuna salad, but it was sold out. It was OK because I wasn't sure how to decide between that and their traditional soup which is also my favorite. That was also sold out! That's what I get for coming in an hour before they close. They offered me their dumplings which were absolutely freaking amazing! I'm so lucky I got to try them. What an incredible unique, delicious and beautiful combination. The food here is seriously even better tasting than it looks (which is hard to imagine because everything is beautiful). read more

My wife and I are still planning a trip to go to Istanbul. It's been on and off again several times over the last 2.5 years and maybe next year we'll be able to go. We found out that the Sunshine Spicy Bakery has Semit, aka, Turkish Bagels. We have gone several times to pick some up with the honey butter for our delights. There's quite the backstory to Sunshine Spicy Bakery and for those who don't know it's incredible. Sunshine is a women-owned business that delivers amazing pastries and coffees for all that come. The Semit is delicious. The version from Sunshine Spice is not huge like those purchased in the Faith section or Taksim neighborhoods of Istanbul, but they are delicious. We did also try some of the pastries. The Opera is simply divine and is on par with Jan Jou Patisserie. There are a lot of paintings on the wall from local artists, make sure to check them out and we'll continue to visit Sunshine Spice for our Semits until we leave for Istanbul. Gule Gule! read more

I stopped in today remembering in the past how good this little place was. Today I stood at the counter while employees came by ignoring me standing there one after the other. The one making coffee never turned around. One time she went in the back to get a new bottle of cream, came right past and ignored me too. No greeting, no recognition, by anyone, not even once. Twice someone came out of the back, fiddled with the cash register, and went back into the kitchen without acknowledging me. Finally the third time someone came out to fiddle with the cash register. This one finally looked at me but said nothing. So I waited patiently until she finally, quietly, said, "can I help you?" Bingo! I am so excited to finally be helped! I asked for a lemon cake... tiny little thing... for nearly $5. I noticed thru the see through package that it was missing the glaze. They didn't tell me they were out of powdered sugar to make the glaze. Full price for no glaze! So I asked. They said tomorrow they will have the glaze. Oy. I'll try to make it at home. Amazing!! I went in thinking this was a Turkish bakery, the amazing ladies working the counter explained they were Afghans, offering pastries with a variety of influences. Everything on display looked appealing. We tried a Nutella roll, a cheese bread and an Opera, with cardamom latte. Both breads were excellent, soft, flavorful. The Opera was great too, with bold chocolate and coffee flavors. The cardamom latte had a strong cardamom flavor, I liked it, but beware if looking for a subtle hint. The dumplings were phenomenal. The combination of vinegar onion and dill was to die for. The eggs on the avocado toast were well seasoned but a little on the spicy side, which I'm not opposed to. I'm typically not a huge tart person but the tarts were really good. The PSL was very fresh. The pumpkin rated fresh, the cloves were so strong. I genuinely have no complaints.
