This cute Afghani bakery is in Downtown Boise, just waiting for you to pop in and try it. It's small, but there's big flavor in there! Their sweets are not only beautiful, but tasty, and the staff is friendly and eagerly ready to give you some great recommendations on what to try first. Oh, and don't forget about the coffee! Coffee and pastries go hand in hand. I had a saffron latte, which was so different and delicious. We also tried a few of their cookies, the Baklava, and one of their heavenly tarts. We couldn't settle for just that, so we packed up some more treats and took them home with us! Highly recommended. I love old favorites, but it's so much more fun to try new things. Give them a try.

First time visit this place. Everything looks so beautiful, but the prices are ridiculous!!!! For all this 3 sweets, medium coffee and organice juice we paid $30!!!!!! And that cake wasn't good, too buttery and fat, I had horrible stomach reactions after. I order latte, but came too sweet, which is supposed to be not sweet at all. Boise having much better cafe for better price and quality food.

dumplings. Yum

The food, the service the people absolutely go here, I always get the dumplings and they're amazing... The people are kind and maybe their bathroom isn't so so clean, but I totally want to support this small business. Also, if you have a minute, try their pistachio bread it's mmmmmmm

Decided to stop by for some pastries from a cute little hidden afghan bakery . They have a wide selection of drinks ( hot and cold ) & a variety of fresh made pastries ! Service was fast and pastries were really good ! Support local shops !

Cute little coffee and patisserie spot. Only giving four starts, cause they were out of some items when we got there.

This place is a hidden gem! This is my second time stopping in and they do not disappoint!!! Excellent coffee, the Avocado toast is my favorite! I tried the orange pistachio cake and it was delicious not too sweet and you could taste the orange flavor was amazing but not overpowering, just the right combination. The service was excellent. It's definitely a must visit!

A huge thank you to the local Yelp Community in Boise for leading me to this absolute gem. Nestled in an unsuspecting strip mall on Fairview, Sunshine Spice Bakery & Cafe, is serving up straight up deliciousness in a crisp, bright, and welcoming environment. In a recent trip to Boise, I came across this spot and always and ever wanting to try all the coffee in any town I visit, we stopped by. I ordered their avocado toast with two eggs and their pumpkin spiced latte. The avocado toast was served on an ample slice of afghani bread (which is light and airy and utterly delicious). The eggs were well seasoned and it came with seasoned tomatoes. Honestly, I'll be dreaming of the deliciousness and make a stop here an absolute priority on my next trip. The coffee was good. It's definitely a sipping sort of beverage and not at all sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but if you're a sweet coffee drinker, this may not be for you. The service was friendly and efficient. The prices were a bit high ($50ish dollars for an order of two avo toast and two espresso beverages after tip). But--worth it. Get to it!

Pistachio latte and pistachio baklava

Haven't had a pistachio latte in so long (no more Starbucks for me) and this is far superior than any chain latte. The baklava was also so fresh and delicious.

Super interesting flavors! Loved the pastries and coffee! Nothing was overly sweet which is always a plus. I got the pistachio latte and my husband got the cinnamon latte. Both were good and have a very strong coffee flavor which we love. We also got the avocado toast, which was delicious. I don't really order avocado toast from cafes or restaurants because it's too basic to spend so much money on. Even though this one is on the pricey side, putting the avocado on Afghan bread (similar to focaccia) makes it interesting enough to try, and we're glad we did! If you order it with egg, just know it has a bit of spice and kick to it but nothing too crazy. Will definitely come back here to try other lattes and pastries.

I had an event going on in Boise and knew I would not make it to town in time to go to our regular bakery so I called ahead to Sunshine Bakery. I asked her to hold 2 raspberry desserts and 2 Opera cakes for us. When we got there we added items on. This was supposed to be for my husband and my 38th anniversary with a couple of friends. When it came time to have desserts I was so upset and appalled and how terrible these were. The opera cakes were old and very dry. What we thought was chocolate on the top was some kind of rubbery stuff. The raspberries on the tarts were soft and mushy. I will NEVER go there again. Or even recommend them. If you're going to sell old stuff let your customers know and learn how to make these pastries. A waste of $50.

This food is absolutely amazing. I would recommend it to anyone who likes pastries. They also have AMAZING dumplings that I miss. The place was clean and peaceful and the service was kind and fast.

This is my second time at Sunshine Spice and it was just as lovely as my first visit. I spent about $15 (including a tip) on a pistachio latte, pistachio baklava and a hazelnut pastry. I was very happy with everything I ordered. The baklava had the perfect crispness while also still being moist. The pistachio latte is just Devine. It's not too strong in flavor and comes in the cutest cup with a beautiful spoon if you get it for there, I'm all about the small details so I love their consistency in presentation. The ladies who run this bakery are so so sweet, and took wonderful care of my friend and I. They have tables as well as a small bar to sit at inside, it's clean and organized and easy to figure out what they have to offer.

An amazing afghan bakery! I was so impressed by the fantastic details and tidiness of the store! All of the pastries are beautifully presented, like a piece of art! Everything looks amazing, but I could only taste a few for during this visit. The Shumai was great, nice seasoning and stuffing, the baklava was so delicious! The staff are very friendly, and the service was great! I can't wait to go back!

Delicious Dumplings!! Cardamom green tea Happiness from eating art.

What really stood out to me is that they greet you like they are truly happy to see you. Even on my first visit they made me feel welcome, and now every time I walk in they greet me like a familiar face and make me feel right at home. That kind of consistency and warmth is rare and says a lot about the people who work there. The space itself is fantastic. It is always spotless, the ambiance is relaxed, the music is great, and there are so many comfortable places to sit depending on your mood. Sometimes I relax on the couches, other times I grab a table or sit near the window and enjoy the view. They also have plenty of outdoor seating, which is perfect on sunny Boise days and makes it a great place to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere. It is one of those places where you can easily spend time working, meeting someone, or just enjoying a great cup of coffee. They also have great food, which makes it even better whether you are stopping in for a quick bite or staying a while. Everything I have tried has been fresh and really good. You can also tell that management cares about both their employees and their customers. When a place is run well it shows through the staff, the atmosphere, and the overall experience, and District Coffee absolutely delivers. I am new to Boise and this is one of the first places I recommend when someone asks where to get great coffee or find a comfortable place to spend some time. I have also had great experiences at their other locations. Boise is lucky to have them.

Two enterprising young women are owners of this gem of a popular West Bench neighborhood gathering…read morespot that they created in what was an old dump of a 1950's era strip mall space and funded in part with crowd sourcing. Being curious since they opened this in Fall'ish 2024 and finding myself in the neighborhood, this was a destination stop for my husband and me when we went in about 11:30 on a weekday for coffee and a nosh. Pride of ownership shines in the clean and funky feeling interior and it is clearly popular because it was full, almost every seat, of people that seemed from the neighborhood, including a number of parents with young children. They advertise this as coffee and market, but I honestly didn't notice the market part, in that things for sale didn't jump out at me. That may have been because I was just trying to navigate to a seat in and out in the crowded space. THE MO: Coffee and the limited menu for food is ordered at the counter, carry to your seat and bus your own when finished. Although we were the only people at the counter and there were two people in the kitchen, it took quite some time for someone to come to take the order, although once someone finally saw us, they were pleasant, if not welcoming, in taking the coffee order and then again when my hubby went back to order pastries to go with it. MENU: Coffee, other beverages and a very small option of eats is listed behind the counter and on a paper menu there. Options included soup of the day and Gaston's bakery pastries. There were some breakfast sandwiches by local provider Poppyseed Bakery in the fridge section, we weren't told about them but seeing them when passing by the fridge on a trip to the loo, asked if they could be heated and were told they could be. We chose a couple of pastries ($5.50 each) and were reminded why we seldom buy Gaston's products for being too buttery and one note. The cortado ($4) were good. I noticed a woman at the table across from us who was sipping a beverage and eating what looked like a sandwich she had carried in. I don't know if that is part of allowable stuff or not. The pottery used for all of their coffee service, ours and the mugs at other tables, is great. AMBIANCE: They did an admirable job here of making this light and bright and just funky enough with pride of ownership and loving care in maintenance sparkling through. Seating includes a few level in, not step up, booths along one wall, a sofa and chairs near the front and many standard height tables and chairs (maybe too many when all full as getting to seat is tough) and a play area for kids in the corner. It had far less comfortable 'breathing room' space than I anticipated from photos. But I didn't take interior photos to post because I think it is rude to do that when lots of people are going to be in them who maybe don't want to be. ;-) LOO: There are two and both are uni and sparkling clean with great murals on the wall and good plumbing fixtures. My husband even pointed out the "cool" sink. Both are ADA compliant so kudos to them for that. (Yes, it is law and code but you'd be astounded by how many ignore both.) ACCESSIBILITY: One ADA parking spot right outside the door. (There are too few spots for the parking lot but that is not the coffee shop owners' failure. That is the lot owner's issue.) Level in the door. All on one floor. The tables would probably work for a wheelchair user to roll under. But it would be near impossible, based on my experience yesterday (I have had multiple sclerosis since age 20 and sometimes use a wheelchair) for a wheelchair user to get between tables and chairs for a clear path of travel to get to seating or the loo.

Since it is good in other ways, I have revisited many times and tried many different drinks just to be certain, or try to find one that is worth drinking. They are all bad, and it is the coffee itself, it tastes like the beans are rancid, or the machine never gets cleaned, or the water is awful. Something beyond just bad technique or a bad brand of beans, they use Caffeina beans and I've been to Caffeina and had the same beans and they weren't bad. I've had several coworkers unprovoked mention that the coffee here is awful also, I really wish they could get it together. (Side note; I was fed up with the coffee so I tried a green tea one day and they *not joking* gave me a bag of tea in a cup of ice water... WITHOUT BREWING IT OR ANYTHING for like 4$. I couldn't believe it, if lacroix made tea this is what it would taste like, water with a whisper of grass flavor. So bad.) Anyway don't go here unless you want a breakfast burrito.

I'm guilty of that but today I decided to drive the extra 100 yards and hit up Coffee Studio instead. My goal lately is to support more local businesses in our area. It was late afternoon when I stopped in and it was busy! There was only one barista working and she was hustling! There were two cars in the drive thru. 2 gals a head of me and and another guest waiting for his beverage. She was killing it! Quite impressive how she handled all the pressure of customers waiting for their drinks. She got everyone smashed out and asked what I would like to drink. I gave her my usual order, a small iced americano with sugar free white chocolate with room for cream. She was still finishing an order from the drive thru but I told her to take her time. I wasn't in a rush. I hung out and looked at all the merch and goodies while my drink was being made. The shop is small and cute. There's big windows which give the small space so much pretty lighting. Love the fresh plants and the simple decor here. I adore that they reuse the syrup bottles as vases for plants, it adds a fun touch to the space. The shop is very welcoming. I also appreciate the outdoor seating. There are strung up lights outside which would be pretty at night. They close at 4 so enjoying the lights would be hard. But I can imagine a brisk fall day, late afternoon when it gets dark early chillin outside with a big mug in hand. Talk about a great setting. I didn't grab the sweet barista's name. She asked me if I wanted to add my own cream or if she can do it for me. I told her to go for it. I should have done it myself cause I could have used a hair more cream. It was on the bitter side but I added a little more half and half when I got home and it was perfect! You can really taste the espresso, it wasn't watered down which was nice! All balanced in espresso, cream and sweetness. This little joint pushes out some bold drinks. And it was nice to see how many people were at this place the same time I was. The barista killed it and made me a great drink. It was great stopping in for my afternoon caffeinated beverage. I look forward to coming back. Especially in the fall when I can sit outside under the lights sipping on my hot coffee.
