I think they make great bread, gift baskets, soups and pastries but I've tried their sandwiches twice and haven't cared too much for them. My husband also didn't like his sandwich. Always funny to read a lot of reviews and see the varied thoughts. I've always had a great experience here. Sandwiches and soups were tasty, employees were friendly. The bread I've bought was great. Cute little cozy shop with great baked treats. Sometimes the desserts you buy individually are a little dry, but to an extent that will happen being set out in a window. 90% of them can be heated a few seconds and are back to normal. read more

I placed an online order on October 4th. I ordered at 11:30 with a pickup time of 12:15. When I came to pick up the order, the person working there (there was only one) She stated, "Oh, that's what I forgot". After waiting another 20 mins to get my order, She shorted me 1 sandwich and got 1 sandwich wrong. They were out of the chips that I ordered and were also out of one of the drinks that I ordered. What happened to the service at this establishment on Chinden? On Aug 7, my wife and I stopped for lunch as we had several times in the past. I admit it has been several months since our last visit but the service was the slowest ever. We waited about 10 minutes to order even though there were only two people ahead of us. The worst part of our experience was the wait of over 20 minutes to get one sandwich; a cold turkey and cranberry on sourdough! To add to our woes, the cranberry was missing. It appeared they had only put cranberry liquid on our sandwich, no sign of a cranberry at all. We were told they did not have some of the ingredients in the kitchen! If cranberries were not available why did they use the dregs of their supply for our sandwich instead of asking us to choose a different one? We also noticed they were very short-staffed; only two people working. They took turns between working in the back and working the cash register. This was quite different than I had noticed on previous visits. Too many restaurants in this area to try again in the future! read more

Love this place. We go for loaves of bread (love the cinnamon loaf!) to take home and finally ate in the cafe for once.. got sandwiches and soup. Was soooo good that we have already gone back two weeks later to get more in-cafe meals. Soups, sandwiches and cookies. Oh.. my ... gosh. Every single thing we got was so freakin tasty. Today is GHB's opening day of their new Meridian location! I have been looking forward to this for a while now. So, needless to say, I had to stop by. The store is super cute & clean. The smells that hit you as you walk through the front door are Heavenly. You can smell the cinnamon rolls & breads. The location is decorated very tastefully & is comfortable. They have a decent amount of seating available. The employees were all very sweet & helpful. There were about 5 different breads that were available for sampling, they even offered butter & honey for it! Delicious!! There were a lot of breads on display that are sliced & packaged for purchase. Another set of shelves included jams, jellies, & honey. I noticed several gluten free breads being offered. The cookies & cinnamon rolls looked amazing. I couldn't resist and ended up bringing home a cinnamon roll. Soup, Salads, & sandwiches are also on the menu. I was looking over the menu & they sound delicious. I will be back very soon to try some of their actual food. I have only eaten their baked goods at this point! read more

Our first experience with Great Harvest was a huge gift basket from our builder. We tried the honey whole wheat and the cinnamon swirl which both were SO delicious. We also were gifted their honey, jam, snickerdoodles, and pancake mix. The pancake mix was really yummy. We LOVE their snickerdoodles. They taste totally homemade. I've since gone in the store to buy their honey whole wheat which we still love. Service was very friendly. We also ordered a few sandwiches and while all of them were delicious they are on the small size. It's definitely somewhere I'll visit frequently. read more

Service review - Go to Great Harvest several times a month and it's normally amazing, great food and good service. This morning was not a very good experience. They had several loaves of bread behind the counter and each of the previous customers were cheerfully offered free samples, one looked and sounded very good and I was anxious to try it. I patiently waited t on be served while the others made their order, were offered samples, took their time deciding what they wanted to try and then were served. My turn up and I ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches and a cinnamon roll to go, paid, tipped 20% and then nothing. There was no one behind me so the server that took my order just walked away. Apparently I was not worthy of the sample that I had been looking forward to like the others before me. Waited for 10 minutes for the sandwiches to be made with no one else coming in, I didn't want to have to ask for a free sample when it was offered so cheerfully to others. Disappointing and if we return, tipping will certainly be reconsidered when the only thing being done is taking an order and making a sandwich. read more

Love their breads!! Good sandwiches too. Great service. Love how they let you sample, which is a brilliant idea considering I would have never bought some of their loaves had I not had an opportunity to taste them. The Popeye loaf is amazing and a must try! A tip if you buy a loaf and don't eat it all of it in a week freeze half. There are no preservatives in the bread so it will go bad before the week is up! Also they have a punch card which is a plus however it only works at the Eagle location not Boise because they are different owners. Downside they don't make certain breads every day, for example They only make the Popeye loaf on Wednesday's so if you don't get there on Wednesday the likelihood of you buying one the next day is not great. All and all great place and we go often! read more

I visited this place even with only 3.5 stars, which I usually don't, and was pleasantly surprised. Well the shelves aren't overly stocked with excessive stock, probably because of the morning rush, but the selection they had was fantastic. I sampled the chocolate chip pumpkin bread which was so moist it was this if Betty Crocker made it herself. LOL. Obviously just kidding but you get my point. It was so moist it was perfectly cooked. Then while waiting and sampling I purchased an orange raspberry scone. And that was the best I've ever had. Pleasant staff, quality product, good selection. I would say at least try this place. Drove all the way up Eagle Rd (from Eagle) on a late Friday afternoon to buy some rye bread. Asked the young blond working there this afternoon if she had any since I didn't see any on the rack. She was annoyed. Apparently we are supposed to know Monday is when you have rye. Ok...we didn't know you bake rye on Monday. It's a Monday bread. Ok...let that go. Looked around for other bread and asked what the difference between the two cinnamon breads were. She said "look on the sign". More attitude. I said "well...I thought you might know since you work here". Her response " Well I don't eat any of the bread here." Turned and walked away. Nice customer service ya got going there. Generally pretty my good. Went about 7pm on a Saturday and place was almost empty with one person at counter to take orders and another hunched over her phone in back. (She didn't move too much the whole time we were there.) The sandwiches were good but the salad seemed pre-made and stored in a cooler. I would not recommend as fairly plain and a little stale. We also ordered cinnamon rolls to go and they were pretty good. We'd go back again in hopes the service would better match the food. read more

Some may find the price per loaf expensive, but not for a local, always fresh, homemade from scratch item. Sampled the Red, White and Blueberry and will definitely be back to get more... Peeked at the Chocolate Chip cookies but they looked under-cooked (should have the option of doughy for those that prefer that style and crunchy for others like me), otherwise this rating would have been 5 stars! I have always been a huge lover of great harvest! A few months ago this new location opened up just within miles of my home. I went into their grand opening and threw my name into a raffle in hopes of winning free bread for a year! To my surprise, I was a winner! Since the Grand opening I have gone in monthly to pick out a loaf of bread. I often leave with two full hands of bread for loved ones, my free loaf for the month and cookie mixes for my children or family members who come into town. Every time that I have been in here I've been so impressed with the owner and her zest for providing amazing customer service and going above and beyond in offering delicious recipes that have never been offered at great harvest locations before. This franchise is doing things right! I will continue to come in often! Do yourself a favor and come visit this business. Also, the cinnamon roll bread is amazing and worth trying! read more

Love several other Great Harvest locations, but first time going to this location and bought a pack of chocolate chip cookies and a naughty bar. The cookies were not as fresh as I would expect for spending over $1 per cookie and the naughty bar was several days old and not edible due to being stale. Very disappointing. Will not return to this location. Not sure the other Boise area locations are better or not. The other locations I've visited have been in Utah. read more

We have ordered from this location about 4 times since it opened and have been very pleased with the service at lunch time. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious. However, I went in tonight and had the exact opposite experience. The staff didn't seem to have any idea what was going on or even how to ring up items. The sandwich I ordered was served with one half of the bread very dry and stale. When we got home and wanted out desserts the lemon bar I had was not even worth a second bite. It was hard and even a dark yellow color like it was old. It had little flavor and was really disappointing. I don't think we will go back after tonight. read more
