An extra touch- a doggie menu!
Er V.

We found this place when looking for a place to stop after a long road trip. Our expectations were exceeded! I had called just to confirm they were "patio dog friendly"- they confirmed so we headed to The Local. We arrived and they already had a table set for us on the patio- complete with water for our pups and an adorable doggie dinner menu and cookie. The people food was amazing too. The service, the ambiance and food were top notch! Boise is lucky to have such a great local spot! We will be back!

8/27/2024 this is in an easy to find spot. We walked in and chose a seat outside today. Our server was super sweet and took great care of us. I ordered the sliders and my friend got a BLT with a Cesar salad. The food came out in a timely manner, and it all looked so fresh and delicious. The three sliders were able to fill me up, and my friend also loved her meal too. I will definitely be back to try more off their menu, and I can't wait! Thanks for taking great care of us and for making high quality, delicious food to eat. The restaurant has indoor, outdoor and bar seating. It was pretty slow when we came in around 11:30 am.

Very colorful and fresh. The veggies tasted great and the grilled chicken on top was juicy. I would've liked a bit more dressing but overall it was tasty and clean.

Dog Friendly Patio

The Local The Local in Boise is "a neighborhood Eatery and Wine Pub, offering live music and rotating artists." They also have a dog, friendly patio and a Dog menu. MW and I visited during Happy Hour, which is Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 5 PM. We ordered a mix of items off of the happy hour menu and the regular menu. We started with Hurricane Popcorn - A Hawaiian favorite - with Nori Furikaki and Japanese rice crackers. It was very flavorful and unlike any popcorn I've ever had before. This is a unique menu items The Local is known for. We ordered two side Caesar salads. I like that it had homemade croutons, but it needed a little more more dressing. We shared an order of Carnitas Street Tacos, to which we added 1 extra taco. The pork was tender, but the tacos were pretty bland. We shared an order of Smash Sliders - 3 smash burgers using our own custom burger blend from Porterhouse in Eagle, with classic American cheese. They were tasty. Unfortunately, I forgot to get a photo! We shared two desserts: Berry Crisp - Blackberry cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream. The berry crisp was excellent! Crème Brûlée - Simple and delicious vanilla crème brulee. The crème brûlée was good, but not great. The texture wasn't as creamy as it should've been. We visited early on a weekday, so we didn't get to hear any live music, but we pretty much had the place to ourselves until towards the end of our visit. Overall, the food was good, but not great. However, they do have a bigger menu than most wine bars and they allow dogs on the patio. The Dog Menu looks excellent! The Local has a nice Wine Menu, as well as several local beers on tap. If you're looking for a nice wine bar with a neighborhood pub vibe, The Local is worth considering. I would like to return and try their Pepe's Famous Fish Tacos. The pictures of their flatbread look excellent too. * The Local is wheelchair accessible. Recommended!

The service is friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The food is delicious, homemade, and mouthwatering. The ambiance is warm and inviting. Clean, and welcoming tones. They have a patio with heaters- live music. Dog/kid friendly for summer night!

Dog friendly, great food, and a nice patio. They were out of a few things we wanted to order but I'm just going to assume that's because I have great taste and they were really popular! Overall it was a great stop for us on our way through town.

Great food, semi-friendly staff (needs improvement) and good ambiance (aside from a few tacky paintings that they are trying to sell).

Nice little restaurant on State Street. Good service and, though offerings are limited, they are all good. Love the clam appetizer.

Let's get this on the table first. I do not write reviews of anything. Partially because I don't…read morethink that my opinion means much but this had to be done. Bittercreek provided me with just what I needed today. Warm and inviting service and a terrific selection of food and beverages for me to enjoy. Dined alone at the bar and everyone that I came into contact with did what I expect. Timely greet and informative service personnel. Hats off to the whole team. Was talked into a Chardonnay from the Willamette Valley and it was spectacular. I usually stick to Willamette Valley reds but went for it after a tiny taste. It's what I needed but didn't know it until it was offered. Too many times I stick to my wheelhouse and don't stray but was coerced by someone who I assumed was the inhouse shotcaller. I had two glasses and it went well with the Bowl of Corn Chowder I was told about. Served hot and with some semi crusty sourdough that hit the spot. Finished every spoonful and it brought me back to my time in New England. The soup was done right for sure. Noone trying too hard which is an issue when trying to recreate a coastal favorite while land locked in the mountain state of Idaho. Right before I had.my second glass of Chardonnay, I asked "the front of the house shot caller" about the selection of Rums and was offered a taste of one that could have been a contender for my follow up beverage. No mixer needed. Would have made a great sipper, as most good rums can be but I elected for the second glass of Chardonnay. Glad that I did. Was feeling a bit buzzed and full from my meal and had to exit stage left before trying a dessert. I'm sure it would have been epic but I'm thin for a reason and don't overindulge. Thank you Bittercreek! My visit with you all made me wonder why I hadn't been in since 2006 or 2007. I'll, certainly, be visitong more often and will bring others with. You've got a fan in me!

Let's just start off with this is going to be a long review…read more I have visited this place twice now and both times have been absolutely great. My first time my server was Jeff and I had lunch, which was a beer and spicy Lamberger, which was supposed to be medium rare. The lamb burger had definitely a good kick to it, but was about medium medium well. But I'm not holding that against this place because the burger tasted absolutely phenomenal. The second visit I went with a large party and we all were pretty enthusiastic with our conversation. Our server name was Kierstan. She did an amazing job handling our whole table. The table start off with appetizers of wings, as well as chips and salsa for the whole table. Multiple drink drinks were ordered and she handled that with care. We all ordered lots of food, which I ordered the focaccia bread Sammy with the poutine side. Both orders were absolutely delicious. The bathroom was immaculate and the cooks cooked very cleanly and both servers did a great job at two different times. Great job to Jeff and Kierstan because Bittercreek is better because they have you. I highly recommend this place as an alehouse many beers on tap and in bottles. The menu is deep with lots of flavor and options.

He was very informative about where to go and places to check out in Boise. I ordered one of the local beers and their flagship meal, the Santa Maria Tri Tip Sandwich. As you can see by looking at the photos, the tri-tip was cooked to perfection. It had tomatoes, poblano, and chimichurri sauce on it to add to the flavors of the tri-tip. The bread consistency was great, not too soggy, and with a great crispy texture. I wish they had spread the tri-tip out more to make sure every bite was being celebrated. I also ordered the mac and cheese as the side per the instructions of the bartender, James. Let me say that was one of the best mac and cheeses that I have ever had. Truly amazing creamy texture and full of rich flavor. Everything melted in your mouth. Definitely worth it. I eventually ended up talking to a fellow bar sitter, and he ended up being the co-owner of the place, TJ. He also filled me in on the places to go and, most definitely, the places to travel to, to experience great beer. He was refreshing to talk to since most people don't have the passion for beer that we both represent. I would highly recommend this place for the staff that is there the solid pub style restaurant that they have created. Super easy and relaxed kinda of place.

I placed a to go order and had a nice chat with the bartender while I waited. I got the pickled eggs which were just OK. We were hoping that it would have a more intense pickled flavor than it did. I also ordered the frito pie. The chili was dry and there weren't many Fritos with it. No cheese either. We got the Philly style chopped tri tip sandwich. The bread and meat were dry. The redeeming dish was the Mac and cheese. It was amazing!

I don't know that I have ever given a brewery a 5 Star review...this makes sense!…read more I have been doing my little Fish & Chips search through Boise and I will have to say, this place is Hands Down the best yet that I have found! Now I have been here a few times and I like the place. The service is good, especially in the bar. The place is very open and has great light and fresh air which I always love. Add to that some great food and creative cocktails and you have a winner! They have a great Old Fashion that is a creation of one of the bartenders and I think is just a fantastic drink! Balanced flavor, a little sweet but not too sweet...with a nice bourbon finish to it! Now back to the Fish & Chips...I have had them twice now, with the same cocktail to chase them down. These are what Fish & Chips are meant to be. The batter is light with a great crunch, not heavily breaded but a light flavorful batter! Fries are good, home-made tartar sauce which always hits...and all the items you want with them...lemon, vinegar and for me mustard! I will be back, over and over again. for a drink, some good service and the best Fish & Chips when I am having that craving! KT

I visited 10 Barrel Brewing recently with my fiancé, and while there were some high points…read moreregarding the flavors and service, the experience was a bit of a mixed bag. To start, I tried the Pickletini. As a fan of pickle-forward drinks, I found it "not bad"--a solid choice if you enjoy that briny profile. My fiancé opted for the All Ways Down Double IPA flight. At 9% ABV, it was a heavy hitter, but he really enjoyed the intense hop aroma and flavor provided by the Cryo Hops. For my main, I ordered the TNT Sando (Tri-Tip with bacon jam and garlic aioli) on Gaston's grilled focaccia. I requested it without pickles, and it was excellent. I paired it with the Black Bean and Veggie soup, which was a standout--perfectly delicious with a nice "zing" to it. Unfortunately, the meal hit a significant snag with my fiancé's Fish & Chips. The beer and cornmeal tempura batter was extremely thick (nearly 3/4 of an inch in some spots) and the fish was overcooked. Additionally, the blue cheese dressing on his side salad was very runny and tasted off. It was disappointing enough that we had to send it back. We replaced it with The Spicy Italian pizza. This was a total 180--it arrived looking beautiful, and the combination of the meats, pepperoncinis, and hot honey was absolutely delicious. Our server, Casey P., was generally good and attentive, though we did have to wait to start our meal because we weren't initially provided with napkins or silverware. A minor note on the atmosphere: the table we were seated at had "gay" carved into the wood, which felt a bit out of place for the professional vibe of the rest of the establishment. Overall, the TNT Sando, the pizza, and the beers are worth coming back for, but the kitchen consistency on the fried items definitely needs some work.
