We dropped in for a local breakfast fix based on the hype. While the interior is fresh and modern, the exterior has that "copy-paste" shopping center aesthetic that's hard to love. The food was a bit of a mixed bag: Chimichurri Steak & Eggs Hash: Heavy on the spuds, light on the steak and chimichurry. Strawberry Tres Leches French Toast: I would've settled for Dos Leches, but this was just standard strawberry French toast--no soak in sight. Both dishes had the potential to be icons but landed in the "just okay" zone. That said, everything tasted fresh, which earns them a generous round-up to four stars. read more

This was a super cute place. We went for lunch and did the 1/2 salad, 1/2 sandwich combos. Everything was delicious! Will definitely go back and try more things on the menu and go for the breakfast. The food was amazingly delicious. There were 4 of us and we all loved everything that we ordered. We got the Tres Leches French toast to share and it was so good. The breakfast potatoes upgraded to million dollar potatoes were my favorite. We will be making this a regular go to for brunch. read more

Went to celebrate a birthday with a weekend brunch. Went on-line to get on the waiting list. Drove to the Fairview location and waited a little bit (Sunday around 11 a.m.). Once seated, we had great, fast service. Food was delicious as usual. read more

There's only a few breakfast places in the valley that are outstanding and I was hoping this one would be included, but unfortunately it fell short. When trying a new breakfast places I always order the pancakes. I love pancakes, but not all pancakes are created equal. Some are better than others and this one was on the low end. I ordered the pancake combo with eggs and bacon. My egg (scrambled) was done okay. I like a softer cooked egg and this was slightly overcooked for my liking but much better than other places. My bacon was a bit cold and the pancake, well that was the biggest disappointment. It was dry and overcooked. On the pro: the service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Oh and I tired some of my husband's potatoes; they were very good! So, we might give this place another chance. read more

Overall a hot mess. When we arrived we put our name in with the hostess and were told we'll receive a text within 15-20 minutes. No message. Went inside to check where we were at and apparently they were waiting for us. The inside is styled nicely and clean. After being at the table for about 5 minutes, I got the text that I never received. When our waitress arrived, she immediately asked if we needed more time with the menu or if we were ready. We ordered and waited. And waited. And waited. We saw our food come out and get delivered to the wrong table. The people commented on how it wasn't their food but the waitress told them to keep it. More time went by. We waited about 45 minutes to receive our food. We finally received one of our dishes and had to wait another 5-10 minutes for the second. Food was good but service was utterly painful. The manager came by and apologized for the service and offered a coupon to return. The gesture was nice but wow I'm not sure if I want to risk giving up another 2 hours for a meal. read more

Came to First Watch for brunch today. I did wait a couple weeks after opening to come. I know it's the new joint in town so everyone wants to try it out also. I was hoping that it would be moderately busy so that it wasn't a crazy wait. Walking in, I was instantly greeted by a hostess. It was "busy" but there were quite a few empty tables. The hostess said it'd be about a 5 minute wait. I hung out in the front. It's dope that they have a big pot of coffee with all sorts of sugars and creamers available. I chilled for a minute before another hostess got me sat. Devin, our server, took care of us today. I was still sipping on my coffee when he asked if I wanted something else to drink. I did notice a mint mocha on their website but decided to wait for my friend so we can get them together. After my other half arrived, we got our drinks and food ordered. The mint mocha looked delicious while Devin was putting on the table. It was garnished with a bright green mint leaf. The mocha was topped off with some cold foam and chocolate chips. I like that you can taste the mint in the drink. The mint wasn't overwhelming like you're drinking a piece of mint gum. The coffee, chocolate and mint was all balanced. For brunch I got the traditional breakfast. You can't go wrong with the classics. My plate was hearty with potatoes, 2 chunky sausage links, eggs and a piece of toast. The toast was overly buttered and I appreciate that! My eggs were cooked over medium which was perfectly jammy to dip my toast in. I asked for my sausage to be over cooked and they were. They serve warm sryup in a cute little dispenser. Dipping the sausage in that warm syrup was so good! My potatoes were seasoned nicely but they still had a bite to them. To me, they tasted kinda raw still in the middle. The little pieces were cooked and tender but the bigger pieces needed a little more cooking time. I did grab a side of gravy for my potatoes. I like that the gravy had sausage in it but it wasn't overwhelming. And the gravy wasn't crazy thick. It was a great breakfast. I love how they turned this old Denny's into this bright, beautiful venue. I love the country home style decor and setting. The windows give the place a beautiful brightness to it. Devin did a great job handling our table today. The food was almost there for me. It would have been a home run but the potatoes missed that mark. Potatoes shouldn't be a big deal but being from Idaho, it kinda is! Happy i got to try it out! I'm looking forward to coming back and trying other items off their menu. read more

My wife and I had breakfast there on Sunday 11/16/25 we really like the vibe, the people are friendly and the service is great. Mt wife had tuscan frittata and loved it. She had the greens and said it they were a bit tart so next time she would order the potatoes. I had the standard eggs Benedict. The issue I had with this dish is they don't heat the ham and they put a cold tomato on it so needless to say you get a lukewarm dish, it had great flavor. I just like my food hot. Breakfast and lunch (hours roughly 7a to 2:30p daily) are on the menu at this Florida HQ'd chain restaurant (535 locations in 29 states) making its' debut in Idaho in Meridian in the building on Fairview that was once home to a Denny's.  My husband and I enjoyed breakfast here during their preview weekend, in advance of the official opening on May 5 (Monday).  I think it important to disclose that First Watch paid for our meal and although we are in general "we don't eat at chains" people, even had we been paying our own bill, we would gladly return.  All was just right, from healthy menu options, to "thanks for coming today" warm hospitality, to food quality and friendly table service.   Given this is a big chain, you're going to see a corporate-formula-food menu, although it does change seasonally, and the menu was intriguing for healthy options that fit how my husband and I prefer to eat.  Also, I am a fan of the way the company treats their employees and their business practices.   We left eager to return. VIBE, SEATING, ACCESSIBILITY: This has been remodeled from a former Denny's. They've done a good job of freshening up the interior. There are several options for accessible seating for people (like me) who arrive on wheels as well as for people who arrive on feet.  There are booths, tables, banquettes and I think I even spied some high height stool / chair seating. The couple who arrived to be seated at the table next to us had a toddler with them and a high chair was provided. MENU:  The menu is on an oversized, two sided sheet and includes but is not limited to egg dishes of all kinds, pancakes and waffles, grain bowls, sausages and bacon, biscuits and (turkey sausage) gravy, salads, soup, sandwiches...the list goes on...coffee from women growers in Columbia (it was very good) and fresh squeezed juice combinations.  Options aplenty for omnivores, vegetarians and vegans. FOOD & $$: Coffee is served by the pot so we ordered one pot (well insulated and stayed hot through the meal to provide us with 2 cups each), one Morning Meditation juice blend (oj, beet, turmeric, ginger, agave), one side of Million Dollar Bacon (which interestingly is on the online menu - they are famous for it - but was missing from the paper menu - make sure to order it), a veggie burger main that came with fresh mixed salad greens (seriously, me for breakfast) and ricotta lemon pancakes served with lemon curd and fresh strawberries for my husband.  All was carefully prepared and perfectly delicious.  Had we been paying the bill, the breakfast would have been $49.65.  Worth every penny. SERVICE:  It cannot be overstated how friendly everyone was during this preview weekend.  Managers were on the floor greeting customers and keeping an eye on service and helping out as needed. They had people there from other FW locations with experience to help direct floor activity.  Our server was still in a process learning curve (she forgot to put in the order for our side until someone else stopped to check on us, and our mains had to be run to table by another server and mine was lukewarm as if waiting in the kitchen, and then we got a second side when we had ordered only one) but that's what "friends and family invited guest" days are for, to work those new-kids kinks out.  PARKING:  The lot for this former Denny's building is spacious.  It includes 4 spaces of accessible parking and they are ADA compliant.  LOO:  His and Hers and not uni-loo.  Hooray.   BUT in the ladies there are only 2 stalls and one is teeny tiny so, just sayin', with all these diners drinking coffee and specialty juice beverages this is a conundrum. MORE TO COME: Bound to be very popular as people discover it so it is good news to learn they are opening a second location in Boise off of Ten Mile in a couple of months. read more

We had heard about this restaurant from friends of ours from Oregon. We went there last Saturday and we loved the food. I had the two eggs with potatoes and sausage links. They were delicious. Everything was cooked just the way I asked it to be. Our waitress was absolutely outstanding. My wife had the skillet, with eggs and vegetables and it was cooked to perfection. The taste of the skillet was one of the best I had ever eaten. If you get a chance, this restaurant is definitely worth stopping at. Thank you for a delicious breakfast. read more

I recently went to the First Watch on the corner of Fairview and Eagle Rd. The old Dennys restaurant. They've remodeled it nicely but it seems a little stark. It echoes and seems cold. Tile or laminate in the floor and chairs don't easily slide. I was originally seated at the bar, which is an island on the west end if the restaurant. The chairs were too high and I could not figure out how to get close enough that I wouldn't spill my food on myself or the floor. So I asked to move to a table. The food seemed to be high end. It was ok. Not super delicious nor terrible. It was ok. read more

The only thing that we ordered that was hot was the hot water for my tea. Cold waffle, sausage, eggs were lukewarm warm on my husband's order. My bacon came out cold 7 minutes earlier than my avocado toast. The server said that she brought it early because I ordered the toast well done and it was taking longer???? When the toast finally came out, the eggs were ice cold ( like they were also waiting on the plate while the toast was cooking). The avocado was ice cold as well which made the toast cold. I think the food would have been ok if the cook had better timing. I will not be coming back for this cold, over priced food. read more

Got here at 10am on a Thursday and went onto the wait list. Sat on a bench and within 5 minutes one of the hostesses came and asked my girl friend and I if we wanted to sit at the bar top. No wait list. We said sure. The chair for the bar are super awkward to sit in. They do not move easily. We ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes and BLT egg Benedict and potatoes. We split the meals between us and it cost less than $40 with two drinks. The pancakes were delicious and the Benedict was also delicious. The potatoes didn't need any extra seasoning. They also had some pieces that were extra crispy. We will definitely come back here to try out more food that is on their menu. They have so many different items that look really delicious. read more

Wife and I walked in for breakfast. We were sat at a table and waited 20 minutes for service before we walked out. The real issue is that a server walked by three times. They made eye contact twice, only to walk past us to other nearby tables. Not sure what was going on, but not going there again. read more

We arrived at 11am and were quickly seated. The place was full. Server was friendly and helpful. We were served our food quickly and it was very good. My wife had French toast and the syrup was served warm. Warm syrup seems like such a small thing but when you get cold syrup on a nice hot french toast it kind of defeats the purpose so serving warm syrup is a real plus. Our server was attentive. However, they don't take payment at the table; you must go up to the front and stand in line to pay. That is a negative to me and that is why they only got 4 stars. read more

Normally our go-to weekend brunch spot, but I can see why the reviews aren't as high any more. I must have gotten used to getting delicious poached eggs here when I was a regular at their Florida locations. I ordered hard poached eggs on my last visit and got hard-boiled eggs that you could bounce on the floor. Today I ordered medium-poached and my whites were almost completely liquid, so I passed on them. Our server even noticed and promised she told the cooks to make them medium. And then she thanked us for coming in and said have a nice day. That's okay, we'll lower our EGG-spectations next time (you're welcome). As long as they don't figure out a way to mess up the pancakes we'll probably be back. read more

I have eaten at both locations in Meridian. The 3 times I have eaten there the service has been great. They give you a good helping of food. The food is awesome very good. The complaint I have is that the potatoes are always too salty at both locations. The 3rd visit on 01-23-2026 was a to-go order. For this order the potatoes were to salty. The bread for both orders were not toasted. It was close to closing but I think toasting bread would only take a couple of minutes. read more

Comparing the two here in Meridian I would say the one on Fairview would not be my choice. The waitress, was not friendly, would not take our order until a friend who was coming late arrived, both coffee containers were empty and we had to ask another server to bring us more coffee. Ordered biscuits and gravy. Got biscuits with turkey gravy, not sausage gravy, which, I did not really specify when I ordered. knew something was wrong. Ordered one egg over easy, received two. Ordered sausage patty and was told they were out, but I could have two sausage links instead. When the order came, a sausage patty was served instead of the two links. Nothing special about the food, quality or taste. More on the bland side if anything. Upon reviewing the bill, I couldn't tell if I got charged for what I ordered or what I received. Service will improve with time and experience. Interesting interior modification from old Denny's decor. Not bad. I will give it another try in a month or so. I visited today with some friends and had the best Belgian waffle of my entire life! It was cooked perfectly, their berry compote is delicious, their butter is sweet and rich, and the maple syrup served hot was the cherry on top. However, I cannot believe how much I paid for one single waffle. For 13.00, I got a single waffle, no sides, nothing extra. The restaurant is cute and a great place to visit with friends. The service was a little slow, but I think they are still trying to find their groove. read more

Our group joined the waitlist and were initially quoted a 25-30 minute wait. We understood the restaurant was busy and were willing to wait. After 40 minutes, we checked in and were told we were next, with an additional 10-minute wait. During that time, which was much longer then 10 mins we watched multiple parties get seated. While we understand smaller groups may be accommodated faster, the lack of clear communication was frustrating. Eventually, the host came out and mistakenly asked if we were a different party we said no and continued to wait. When she finally called our name, instead of seating us, she informed us that they could not accommodate our group together and asked if we were willing to split up. This should have been communicated from the beginning. Waiting well over the quoted time and over an hour, only to be told they couldn't seat us as a group is unacceptable. We ultimately chose to leave. read more

My wife and I just returned from this new place called First Watch. When I tell anyone that I'm going to a place called first watch, they think about the fire department and I have to explain to them, It's actually a breakfast place. I went to this when it was Denny's a few times and I have to say it is an amazing transformation inside and out. It looks good. The service was really good, which I would expect for a brand new restaurant, because they want to make the best impression. I did notice some imperfections inside. This was probably because they rushed to get open and took a few shortcuts on things. There was a piece of wood on the wall near the window of the table we were sitting at that was badly cut. I saw on the menu that they had fresh-squeezed orange juice, so this was one of the first things I ordered. I was sad to find that it was not fresh-squeezed. It tasted acidic, which is common in bottled juices. I noticed in the kitchen that they display a lot of bottled juices, which also takes away from the healthy concept. For bottled juice, it was OK, but it's definitely not fresh-squeezed. I wanted something, so I ordered something called Chickichanga. It's similar to an omelette, but it also reminded me of a burrito, so I'm not quite sure what to make of it. The sauce on top tasted of lime or lemon. An odd dish, but if you want something unique, you should give it a try. For me, I'm not sure I'd order it again, but it definitely fit the bill of being different. With my meal came some, which the menu describes as seasoned potatoes. They had a good flavor, but I have to raise a red flag here that they're anywhere even close healthy. They tasted like they were probably fried in bacon fat or maybe tallow. Either one is very unhealthy. So my first visit to this place was good and positive and I will definitely give it another. Love this place with fresh ingredients! Their artisan toast is wonderful. Their omelettes are cooked the "correct" way and not overcooked as most restaurants do around this area. They remind me of the french omelette that cooks the egg batter only until it's almost buttery. Truly what makes this place stand out! Great ambiance and decor on the design for a cheerful and light cafe with tall ceilings and lots of windows! Attractive and comfortable leather seats for each good size booth . Staff has always been friendly and accommodating! Great place for families, kids and elderly . Honestly, coming from Northern California it's the best breakfast place in all categories around in the Treasure Valley ! read more

Service is impeccable for opening week anyway. I was invited to pre open Soft Open, then went back and paid on opening day they told us about everything we needed to know, asked if we'd tried the "million dollar bacon" (and made sure we ordered it), and kept the coffee pot full. Everyone was excited and happy with their meals. Except me. I didn't complain as I want them to work out the kinks. My chile/chorizo omelette wasn't hot. Lukewarm would have been an improvement. And there was little filling except for an overripe avocado. But plenty of cheese! Same with my seasoned potatoes. Almost cold. The white toast (one slice) was great though. Warm with real butter. The pancakes, eggs, bacon, French toast, etc were excellent. And we were coaxed into trying the fresh kale and apple juice drink. It was a bit strange but after a couple sips we were hooked. They also treated my 1-1/2 year old granddaughter like royalty. She had a small kids meal and ate all the scrambled egg, bacon, and milk. I went back alone to try the 'BISCUITS AND GRAVY'. Not sure how one biscuit qualifies as biscuits but it's good. Unfortunately it wasn't very hot either. Another server brought it out, so maybe it sat in the window awhile first. And I had heard an employee say they don't even have microwaves. That would have fixed it. Still, service was excellent and I love the flavored coffee creamer. They also have cold brew for the same price. First Watch took over the old Denny's behind Red Robin and Krispy Kreme. They did a good simple remodel out front. I don't know how much they did in the kitchen. It looks great and there's a juice bar along the Western window. Prices are certainly higher than Dennys, but it's the bougie type place Meridian is attracting now. read more

I was asking the staff when I came in "Why is the parking lot so empty?" I found out this is day 2 of First Watch being open here in Idaho! You guys have no idea how thankful I am! This is the restaurant that I ALWAYS get breakfast at when I'm on the road! I travel every week for work across the country, nothing beats this Farm to Table deliciousness! Wake up idaho! Mom and I tried First Watch today and the food was delicious with great portions and our server Pricilla was fantastic!! 1. Veggie Omelette that came with homestyle potatoes (it was upgraded taters) and thick toast and jam. The omelette was stuffed with mushrooms, onions, greens, zucchini, sun dried tomatoes and cheese. 2. Skillet with two eggs (over easy) with homestyle potatoes, bacon, sun dried tomatoes and onions. Thick toast with jam. Mmmmmmmmmm Carafe of coffee and real half and half. Pricilla kept our coffee flowing and even got me a "to go" cup when we were ready to leave. No wait time at 930am on a Wednesday morning, Pricilla asked if we needed any recommendations and let us know about some of the options. I saw a waffle being taken to another table and it was a sight to behold. LOL Prices were not good nor bad. About what you expect now-a-days.
