Went with a group of about 14 people for breakfast and was very disappointed with virtually every aspect of the dining experience. I ordered the crab benedict and asked that the potatoes be cooked crispy. The crab benedict was average but with a "skimpy " amount of crab for $14. The potatoes were not even warm. The waiter said he would get me " new potatoes ". I had already finished my crab benedict and the potatoes arrived 10 minutes after I finished my meal. There are too many good places to eat, get a nice meal and get good service. If I'm asked where everyone wants to go, it certainly won't be here. I've had 1 very good meal here and 2 less than desirable experiences here. I think I'm done ! read more

I've been here several times and I can attest to the awful service, staff, and wait times others have complained about. However this restaurant has sunk to a new low. When we got there the host was on his computer and said he'd be with us in a minute. We stood there waiting for several minutes feeling largely ignored and clearly less important than whatever he was doing on his computer that just could not wait for 30 seconds. Finally he sat us and we asked to not be seated in Brandon's section. (We've had him as a server every time we've been there, and we never see him after our food is served. We've even had to go up to the counter to ask for our bill after sitting there waiting for him to bring it for 25 minutes after we've finished our meal.) After we sat down I left the table briefly. In that time, apparently the host had gone straight to Brandon and told him we didn't want to sit in his section, because Brandon approached my elderly mother sitting by herself and mocked her by saying "My name is Brandon and I'll be your waiter" with a big smirk on his face and then walked away. When I found out I said if he's immature enough to do something like that then he's immature enough to put something in our food, so we left and dined elsewhere. The fact that he thought it was the right thing to do to treat a customer this way, and was even funny, is appalling. We have a right to ask to sit in someone else's section without fearing retaliation, harassment, or mockery. I've seen the owner Theresa's replies to negative reviews saying this isn't how they do business. But if nothing has changed in all these months, and the staff is now being intentionally rude to customers, then Theresa, my dear, this IS how you do business. I stopped in there for lunch today. The service was lousy, my server, who I thought was a busser because of how he was dressed, (tee shirt and cargo shorts) brought me some ice water and came back about ten minutes later to take my order. I had to ask him what the soup of the day was, and I had to ask for sweetener for my tea. I ordered at BALT (BLT with avocado) half sandwich and the soup. The soup was very good. The half sandwich had only one lonely piece of bacon and a tiny piece of avocado and about half of a whole romaine lettuce. I asked my server, is that was all the bacon the sandwich comes with and he did have someone bring me out another piece of bacon. All in all, I wasn't impressed. Never, ever, ever again. I was excited to try Teaspoon because they get good reviews and are following "covid protocols", something significant for us as my father is 88 years old and on oxygen. When we arrived, I had my dad wait on a chair near the entrance to the building complex until I figured out where the entrance to the restaurant was. I put our name on the list (20 minute wait), and then went to get my dad so we could wait on the bench out in front of the restaurant. When we returned, there were two people on the benches, not wearing masks. Since the benches are not six feet apart, I asked if he could sit at one of the little empty tables right inside the hostess station, and I would wait outside. The hostess could have simply said no, but instead she was harsh and rude and said in a nasty tone "no, you can sit on the bench or you can stand". I asked if she would politely ask the unmasked people if they would kindly put their masks on so my dad on oxygen could sit there, since the benches aren't socially distanced. She, again rudely, said "no, then you can stand." I stated "is it not clear my dad is on oxygen? He can't stand that long." She shrugged at me and I said, Ok, I guess we'll leave then, thank you. Her response - in the snottiest possible voice - "have a nice daaaaay!". I said, "you don't have to be rude" - her response... "whatever!" We've been trying to do what we can to support local businesses through the last year of craziness, we go out of our way to protect others, we're really patient with all the protocols businesses have to follow. But someone with such a rude, entitled attitude should not be a "hostess". I don't care if they have the best food on the planet or it's a zombie apocalypse and they are the only place left with food in town. I'll eat cactus blossoms before I ever set foot in Teaspoon again. read more

We went as a group of 9 for lunch. I called ahead to see of we needed reservations but they were not taking any. The wait time was 15 or less, not bad on a busy Sunday. First question we had was, Is there a grpwn-up in charge? The staff seemed to not be quite at rhe level if similar restaurants in town. The server seemed inexperienced, there was no visable manager. At those prices I expected more attention to details. The server did not know what the soup of the day was, it was after 1. There were bread plates on the table but no one ever brought out bread. Our food took a long time to come out and none if the servers knew who ordered what. In my experience as a server the runners should know where the plates should go. Two of the diners had the same thing with different sides and the orders were mixed up. One had soup so the server move the soup to the other person but not the bread that went with a soup because he said he didn't want to touch it. But I think he was expecting the other person to hand it to someone else, he could have just brought out a new piece of bread. One order came out very late after everyone else's food. The water carafes are only half filled and we had to ask for more water. Two of us ordered soft drinks and we're never offered refills we had to ask. Not to mention my iced tea was the wrong tea, twice. The drinks had very little ice. Another guest ordered coffee and also had to request refill. One soup was brought out with no spoon. The food was very tasty, the soup was delicious, the portions were large, the wraps were gigantic, the prices were appropriate for the quality and location. What was not okay was to leave dirty dishes on our table that were not picked up until after we paid the bill. It was a pretty cold day with the sliding doors open but the staff was accommodating and closed the doors and turned the heater on which made our meal more enjoyable. I appreciate having healthier options, but when you just want a savory breakfast the bloody mary and skillets are spot on. This place is making me give it a star. I would retract it if I could. The underaged staff does not know their system, nor a telephone. They are under equipped, and have no regard for there own mistakes. I can overlook mistakes any day, for I know they happen. But they are unaware that they can make them, and make others feel that they are the problem. My problem is not with the food, for I didn't even make it in. But it's with the rude, young, yuppie staff that ruined my day. They can take a lesson from the Whole Foods next door who knows more about serving than there restaurant does. Never go to teaspoon. Thanks for finally getting back with us. And thanks for not accepting any fault. This is why your not going to do well for long. You can't go around blaming your costumers for your "glitches." How sad you can't even except any responsibility for this. At least train your people. Why give numbers if you can't use a phone. Why tell us "ok," if you can't comprehend what we said. Come out and help support this new local restaurant. They serve many healthy choices and also the basic breakfast and lunch. They make homemade pastries and serve a few gluten free options. When they first opened, we were disappointed in the service, but the last couple of times we had Jeremy and he rocks!! :) I think it will only get better. This restaurant should be rated higher than it is. I never leave reviews on yelp, but I felt obligated to since Teaspoon deserves better ratings. Most importantly, the food was EXCELLENT! The ingredients taste fresh and are full of flavor. The menu has a great selection and has quite a few gluten free and vegan options (for those who care about that). We had the breakfast grilled cheese, breakfast pizza, bubble waffle and Vietnamese coffee. All of which were fantastic and I would eat/drink them again. Our order came out quickly. The service was welcoming, friendly and prompt. The restaurant itself is beautiful with a great patio. This is probably the best breakfast/brunch restaurant on the northwest side of town. We took a client to Teaspoon today & was much less impressed than we were on our first visit to the restaurant. The service was average at best & the food was "just OK". We started off with the tempura plate which did not come with any type of dipping sauce. We just assumed it was left off of the plate. When we asked about it, our server said he would find us something & brought back a tureen of sriracha mayo (interesting choice). I just felt like something was missing today & really want to like this place a lot. If today was my first time going, I think it would probably be my last. Our first time going to this restaurant, we were slowly put off by the waiting time being 30 minutes. However being Sunday, around 10:30am it was expected. So we just waited until it got around the 30 minute mark until people who had arrived after us had been seated before us. My girlfriend went up to ask about this confusing matter was told they were just getting our table ready, a couple minutes later the hostess came to us directly to seat us. As for customer service at this point, not exactly impressed with either hostess that we had talked to. After being seated we knew exactly what we wanted because we had looked up the menu prior, so we were able to put in our order asap. The food didn't take long at all to arrive, however as we were waiting we noticed other couples were also have similar issues my girlfriend and I had had with the hostesses, which made it a little disappointing. Anyways, our food arrived and for $15 for a filet mignon eggs Benedict I expected to be better that just mediocre, the muffins were overly soggy, not bad at all just didn't live up to what I had expected. The cappuccino I had ordered was very good though, the foam was thick and plentiful and the coffee was smooth and wasn't too biter. For my girlfriend she had ordered a ham and cheese omelette with their sausage gravy on the side. We both agreed it was basically 75% greasy ham and 25% cheese. The entirety of the omelette had pools of butter and overall just quite saddening. My girlfriend uses gravy for her omlettes and even that didn't make it taste any better. The gravy itself had a very subtle taste, also presentation was pleasing. The only decent thing about the meal was the side of toast and jam! The bread was very good along with the raspberry jam (I believe) it came with. Overall these could just not be signature meals at Teaspoon and they are just hit and miss with their meals. Like their bubble waffles we heard of and saw another customer got. So we will go again, and ask the waiters what they believe is to be the best of the menu then decide if the restaurant overall is worth their slightly high prices or not. read more

This place was so good! Have been here already twice since opening. Their O.J. is the best and the Vietnamese coffee was delicious. Was the first time I had ever tasted it. Wish there were better drink specials for brunch, I missed the note about the grapefruit upcharge so I paid $5.75 per mimosa. This was genuinely a horrible experience. I came here having already researched the menu, and knowing that the skillets were labeled as gluten free. I needed to order one skillet in particular with modifications in order to meet my dietary restrictions, so it's not like I had other options on the menu. I ordered this fine, and it was only when my friend went to order the breakfast potatoes that I learned those are not gluten free. When I asked if the potatoes in the skillet were prepared the same way, I was told no. Immediately after, however, the waitress advised me not to order that dish because they were the same potatoes. This was obviously confusing to me, but I took that information and informed them I wouldn't be able to get anything. They accepted this but came back and said they checked with the chef and it could be prepared in a gluten friendly way. I eventually got the skillet and it was truly terrible. The potatoes were significantly undercooked and the whole dish over salted, with no other flavor. Imagine eating mostly just potatoes with that raw, gross, flavor and texture and getting no other good flavors to balance it out. When the server finally checked in and the end of the meal, they were disrespectful and patronizing. For whatever reason, they decided to at this point let me know that the item said gluten substitute, which is incorrect. I informed them of this and they just said okay. I have never even written a yelp review and I downloaded the app just to let others know how terrible this was. read more

I would have given this place a five star review but there are a few things that affected their rating. We arrived there about 15 minutes after they opened. The hostess was a little slow seating us but did apologize. (Little did I know this would be common) The menus we were given were printed on card stock but they had gotten wet and stained a few times so that was a bit off putting. I ordered the ABC omelette (avocado, bacon and corn! It was really good and I never thought of corn in an omelette before!) with challa toast served with butter and nice raspberry jam. Hubbs ordered the bubble waffle with strawberries and clotted cream. I enjoyed a few bites of the waffle which is more dense and more sweet than a Belgian waffle. We both had the regular brewed coffee which was really strong but it was fresh. Our food arrived fairly quickly but I noticed while we waited for our ticket that the hostess was nowhere to be found so customers waited a long while to be seated. We were still enjoying our coffee and were not ready to leave just yet but it is kind of a hassle to be ready to go and not being able to check out due to missing in action employees. I think we will try this place again after a while and see if the opening kinks have been worked out. read more

I have been to Teaspoon about 10 times with a group of about 8 women each time. It is our favorite breakfast place before we go to our group get together. We always enjoy the food and we usually all get something different. Everything is always delicious. If there is any shortcoming at all, it is with the service. They usually only have a couple of waiters and sometimes it is very busy in the mornings. They are a new establishment and it is costly to hire more help, and probably even more difficult to find good help, so let's cut them some slack until they have their feet on the ground. Go early when it isn't as crowded and your taste buds will thank you for it! My two fav's are the baked potato skillet and the bubble waffle. read more

My wife and I saw it over the weekend and decided to give it a try. We loved it !!! My wife had a really innovative waffle and I had PBnJ pancakes and we were both very happy.. The coffee was very good. When we got there they were overwhelmed with business... It was a holiday and they weren't sure if they were going to open or not. We sat at the bar and we had very good service. The staff was very nice and we had the pleasure of meeting the two owners...they are delightful young ladies. It makes me so sad to write this because I LOVE the food here I think the flavors are amazing and it the perfect place for brunch the mimosas are amazing as well. This is also my first choice whenever I am with friends to go for brunch, breakfast, or lunch and the only recommendation I make to anyone for a brunch spot but this is the 3rd time I have made the decision to bring a friend here and had to walk out. The time of service here is horrible! I showed up today around 11:30am the inside seating had at least 8 empty tables and completely open bar but I was still told there would be a 20min wait and there is no service at the bar. This is a reoccurring issue every time I come here it takes at least 30 minutes if not longer just to be seated when there are open tables hostess and waiters are so kind and friendly when they are at your table but seem to be so overwhelmed with the amount of tables they are covering it takes forever to get any type of service. Today it only looked like there were 3 waiters and 1 hostess after waiting 20 minutes with at least 6 other tables of people who had put there name in who were also waiting and not being given any update and no one being sat at the same empty tables I have been looking at since I walked in I had to leave. I hate to have to go somewhere else but definitely can not justify coming here anymore. read more

My first review was removed by yelp so I will do another one. Not a good experience at all. First time i went it was at 730 am it read closed, they don't open till 8 am. What breakfast place opens at 8?? My second trip I went at 830-9 am on a Saturday. There was a group of 10 at one table and maybe half the tables in the restaurant were empty. We were told a wait of 20 min. They then told us they didn't have staff to service the whole restaurant. We waited about 25 till we got to our table. Once there we were served water and did not see the waitress for 10 min. She was pleasant. Ordered or food. We had the bubble waffle ( came out a little over done) the crab and lobster omelette(more egg and basically not much of anything else) we also ordered a loaded baked potato skillet which was probably the best thing we got. The least item we got was the baked apple pancake. It was good but nothing to write home about not to mention the dish did not come out until about 20 min after the other 3 dishes came out. Very unimpressed, staff seemed very flustered not organized. The girl at the from was using sticky notes to keep track of who was in line( seating people in the wrong order too). Located in Casas Adobe Plaza where Bluefin used to reign. I had lunch today with a friend on one of my visits to my old hometown. Nice little spot, comfortable. Service was pretty good, not too solicitous but there was always staff around if we needed anything. I had the 1/2 salad 1/2 sandwich menu item - a Bibb lettuce salad w/ sweetened pecans and buttermilk dressing alongside a half of their turkey avocado bacon sandwich on multigrain bread w/ mayo cream cheese dressing. Everything was very fresh. The salad came without the buttermilk dressing, but this mistake was quickly remedied, Once dressed, the salad was tasty but nothing too special. But I loved the turkey sandwich. It had tomatoes, sprouts, and cucumbers in addition to the ingredients listed above and was delicious and filing. My friend had a cheeseburger. I thought it was a little small for $10, especially since it came without any side, but she thought it was very good. The pastries we tried for dessert, an oatmeal cookie and a cinnamon stick, where fair, nothing to write home about. All in all I enjoyed my meal and would return to try some of the other items on the menu, read more
