Ate here on Saturday 10/08. Service was incredibly slow. The $16 crab cakes were cold and disgusting. I wanted to let the server know but he never once came back to the table to ask how our food tasted or if we needed anything. Such expectations; such a disappointment. We decided to go to the Teaspoon for lunch this afternoon. When we arrived, we were greeted and seated immediately. Water was brought; iced tea was ordered and brought by a server that remained attentive throughout the visit. I ordered a half salad (Bibb Lettuce) and Sandwich (Turkey Sandwich). My lunch companion ordered the Crab eggs Benedict with a side of fruit. The food arrived and it was unremarkable. As for the eggs benedict---The eggs were WELL Done----a NO NO for eggs Benedict. Also, the eggs Benedict arrived without any hollandaise sauce. When this was brought to the attention of the server (both the state of the well done eggs and the lack of hollandaise) he apologized and went and got a little cup of watery and mostly tasteless hollandaise sauce. The sauce had the consistency of water. He did not seem to realize that eggs for eggs Benedict should not have a solid yolk. The salad and sandwich combo was unremarkable. The salad was lacking sufficient dressing, but it was passable. The sandwich was disappointing since their Turkey sandwich is really a DELI Meat Turkey sandwich (Ala the kind of turkey you can buy at Costco in large quantities). Our total for a disappointing lunch experience was $35.00. I don't mind paying premium prices for premium experience. In this case, I paid a premium price for a very subpar lunch experience. Teaspoon needs to get their act together of they will be another in a long list of short-lived dining spots in Tucson. read more

Let me start by saying that I really wanted to like this place. The location is delightful and the menu looked inventive, so when my boyfriend and I arrived for breakfast on a Sunday morning, I was genuinely looking forward to the experience. We were greeted promptly and seated outside on the patio. The hostess assured us that she would alert our server to our presence, but after a solid fifteen minutes without so much as a glass of water, we were about to get up and walk out. Just then, a bartender came out to bus a recently-vacated table and noticed us. He inquired if anyone had come to our table yet and we replied that no one had. He sprang into action and had the hostess bring us water. (All we got from her was a wishy-washy, "I'm so sorry for your wait.") The bartender came back later and also took our drink and food orders. The entire time we were sitting there, we saw other parties being seated and servers approaching promptly, so I have no idea why we were ignored for so long. The manager brought our food out and apologized, but also made excuses and blamed the hostess. When you're the manager of an establishment, the buck should stop with you. No excuses. On top of everything else, our entrees (two omelets) were nothing to write home about. They weren't bad, just nothing special. My boyfriend did enjoy his Bloody Maria and my mimosa was also good. I can see the potential in this place, but without some serious intervention and re-training, both at the front and the back of the house, it won't last long. This is my new spot for brunch! My mom and I went, we were seated inside and the staff was nice. My mom ordered the chilaquiles con pollo and it was great. The flavors were spot on and it was a generous amount. The red sauce had the perfect amount of spice. I ordered the bubble waffle. It was fun and different! We were a party of 3 at around 11am on a Saturday. Two of us ordered the skillet to start and came out with an overwhelming taste of Canola oil. We tried to get people's attention but weren't able to. My older father finally got restless and walked up to let him know. But when he went up to the waiter to tell him about the issue, he dismissed him instead of immediately asking him what was wrong. Then, we had to wait for the waiter for awhile to come over to tell him that the food was bad. My dad elected not to reorder, and then I decided to order an ham, bacon, avocado omelette which was just average. Overall I think this place needs a bit to work out the kinks. read more

My family and I went here for my mom's birthday. The food was amazing. One thing to keep in mind is that you cannot make a reservation, unless you are a group of 6 or more, and that you will probably have a 20-45 minute wait. The burgers are great, but the fries leave some to be desired. They aren't amazing, but the sweet potato fries more than make up for it. The avocado toast is "Everything you want in an avocado toast. Delicious poached eggs with fresh avocado and homemade bread." The açaí bowl was very rich and flavorful, with the perfect amount of granola and fruit. I have been to teaspoon twice now and it is quickly becoming my new favorite. The first time I ordered The three little pigs omelette. It was perfect with perfect tiny bite size bits of salty bacon, smokey ham and perfectly seasoned sausage. The plate came with two pieces of thick toast and butter and marmalade on the side. I had coffee as well and they just kept them coming. I really appreciate that in the mornings when I haven't already had my coffee. They even brought real half and half. The next time I ordered jasmine citrus tea. Nothing over the top there. I also ordered their pastry sampler to have with my friends and they brought 4 of the most delicious pastries they had. Their blueberry muffin was out of this world!!!! I enjoyed it all. Although, the corn muffin was a tad dry, but it wasn't anything butter couldn't fix. The mini pumpkin pie was heavenly without being over sweet at all. Real pumpkin flavor popped with every bite. And the lemon poppyseed bread was bright and moist. The first time I went I also enjoyed their berry tart that had an amazing granola bottom. I just couldn't get enough. Just wow! I recommend everyone try this magnificent little treat. My husband and I came here for brunch and were SO excited to find it, right down the street from our house! The atmosphere is great! It's super cute and is in a really great building with inside and outside dining. Their menu is slightly pricey, but they do use good quality ingredients. We wanted to absolutely love the place but found that we thought it was "good". I ordered the lobster & crab omelette and he ordered the steak omelette. They did charge us an extra $2 for a TINY amount of potatoes (on top of my $16 omelette) which seemed crappy to me.. Both were fairly small but the quality was good. So we went for brunch and the place was cute, nothing to extravagant though our waiter was super nice we ended up sitting outdoors since we had a group of 8 which wasn't too bad since they had misters and lots of shade. Fast forward to the food, so my biggest complaint would have to be that in my group we ordered Vietnamese drip coffee, I'm Vietnamese and I know how Vietnamese coffee should taste and look like. what we had gotten was definitely not it. We had gotten a watered down dripped coffee with condensed milk, If you have ever had Vietnamese coffee (ca phe sua da) you would know that they give you one cup that has condensed milk at the bottom, super strong black dripped espresso, and a tall glass of ice. besides that the other drinks we had gotten were good, we had a couple orders of bloody mary's, lattes and ice teas. the food overall was pretty good as well, I was surprised how good the bubble waffle was. It had the perfect sweetness and then the strawberries and creme were the perfect finish! I was worried that when I got the eggs Benedict with crab it would have little to no crab, but they definitely gave a good amount, not crazy generous but enough. all in all everything was super tasty. my only other complaint would be that my food didn't seem as if it came out right when it was done, as if it was sitting out for a bit. it wasn't a huge deal, but you could tell that it definitely was sitting in the back for a bit. it felt like the sauce for the Benedict was splitting a little, even the hot breakfast skillet wasn't sizzling. Sooooo good!! Clean, excellent service. I had the soup and salad; tomato soup and a quinoa spinach salad that was simply delicious! Comfortable enough to eat alone or on a date or a group. The only reason I gave them four stars and not five is purely my desire to have my bread toasted. Went here on a Sunday morning for the first time. The environment is nice and very unique. They seated us outside because it's a longer wait if we want to sit inside. I ordered the Vietnamese coffee drop and the potatoes with sausages. I am Vietnamese and I've drank Vietnamese coffee from Vietnamese restaurants everywhere I go. This coffee is far from that. It's tasted water down and almost like just condense milk and water. (It gave me a stomach ache later). The food tasted good. Good seasoning and very filling. I wouldn't want to come back here in the future or recommend to anybody else if they want a good coffee or brunch place. I mean to be honest, even if the food is good but the coffee is not too good then it'll ruin your appetite. :( read more

So, today we tried Teaspoon. Very impressed. We went on Sunday at 8:00 AM. There was a short, 20 minute wait, but that was OK because we were waiting for another person in our party to arrive. The hostess took our name and let us know about the wait, and kindly got my sister a Bloody Mary, and me a glass of water. We decided to grab a chair and wait for our final member. By the time our party was complete the table was ready and we were seated. Our server, Brandon took our order and in a very short while we got our food. All I can say is OMG! Each one of our meals was delicious. I tried the bubble waffles with clotted cream and strawberries. So good! My sister had the eggs Benedict, and my niece had the crab cakes. We each tried the others dishes, and they were all so nice. The staff were very welcoming, and the atmosphere was very relaxed. I look forward to going back to try more of the menu offerings-if I can pull myself away from the bubble waffle! The Bloody Mary was very good as well. My family took me there for Mother's Day. Our wait time was 45 minutes it ended up being an hour and a half. The hostess called our name and told us we only had an hour because the table they were giving us was reserved. We would have left but we were all starving. Once we were seated it took 15 min before anyone came to the table. Mind you we only had an hour time frame to eat. Waiter finally came got our order. Another 15 min before the food starts coming out. And of course they got my order wrong and I had to wait an additional 10-15 minutes. They need a better management. Places know they aren't going to get tipped for to go orders, but that's not a reason to not serve them. They had multiple open tables inside and out while servers were moderately busy/not busy with current tables. We went across to Charro Vida , worth it- we've been back about 5 times since, maybe more. Looking across the way back to Teaspoon, the couple that was behind us was sat within the first 10-15mins. First visit here, took my two five year old boys. They had crepes and I had the Dutch Pancake. Between the three of us we cleaned our plates. We also ordered smoothies, fresh pressed juice and a latte. Everything was made while we were there, it was delicious. I have been looking for a place like this on the north side of town, it's perfect. The staff were quick, responsive and helpful.
