My boyfriend lovessss tres leches so after finding this place on yelp, I ordered their 1/2 sheet tres leches cake with strawberries for his birthday. We're pretty loyal to Porto's but I wanted to give this place a try because mom and pop places have a special place in my heart. First and foremost, i'm happy to report that the cake was DELICIOUS and super hefty lol. Admittedly, I was pretty nervous about how it would turn out because tres leches can sometimes be a hit or miss depending on the preparation (hence why we usually stick to our usual) but i'm so glad we ordered from here as they far exceeded my expectations. Ordering: - Called a day in advance for a tres leches cake and mentioned it would be for a birthday. The lady on the other end (who i assume might be one of the owners) was very accommodating and helped me decide on the size after asking how many people I would be feeding. For 15-20 people she recommended the 1/2 sheet and it ended up being pretty accurate. The one smaller than a half sheet would have been an 8 inch round, good for 8-10 people i believe. There's also larger one but I don't have those details. - You then get to decide what inclusions you want inside the cake. I decided on strawberries but there were a couple chocolate options that we may have to try next time! - We reviewed the cake details for final confirmation and then I gave her my phone number and we agreed on a pick-up time for the next afternoon. I imagine a morning pickup wouldn't have been an issue either, but I just didn't need it that early. - Note: for the "happy birthday --" writing, she will have you finalize those details when you go in to pick up the cake. I found this odd for just a split second but then i figured they probably just want to make sure you like the cake and that everything's spelled correctly (a good thing!). Location/Parking: - located inside a spacious plaza so there's ample parking, with some spots right in front of the shop - if you turn in from forest grove st, it'll be the first thing you see Pickup: - when you walk in, it's a pretty small shop and very reminiscent of all the asian mom and pop bakeries we all know and love. There's a fridge displaying some smaller treats but pre-ordered cakes are kept behind the counter - i let the woman know I was there for a pickup and gave her my phone number that I ordered with. She brought out the cake to show me and then asked me to write down the note I wanted written on top of the cake. - she came back and made sure i liked it and then I paid and the deed was done! The cake: - $49 for the tres leches 1/2 sheet with strawberries, which sounds like a lot but I would say was worth every penny - 10/10 flavor and again, she was a HEFTY GWORL. Probably stood about 5 inches tall weighed 10 lbs - strawberries were fresh and sweet, and the layers of cake were perfectly soaked in tres leches!! - Elegant frosting decorations, topped with more fresh strawberries and tiny chocolate chips - note: you can choose what color writing Wish i had taken a better picture amidst all the celebration chaos, but trust me when i say it was deeelicious! read more

JK Location/Parking: Located in a decent size plaza in the NE corner of Peck Rd. and Lower Azusa. Parking can be found in the front. I wanted to get a fruit tart cake but wasn't close to OC where I usually get them. I gave TC bakery a call before 3pm on a Saturday and they told me they could have a 1/4 sheet cake ready by 5pm. The female owner speaks Cantonese and English and gave me a call at 5pm to tell me it's ready. I ended up picking up the cake at 7pm but gave them a call at 6:30pm to let them know I was on my way. Great and speedy service! I chatted briefly with the mom and pop shop owners. The cake was definitely fresh and still kept its structure just as the male owner said it would! Other fruit tart cakes I've gotten from OC Vietnamese bakeries would start falling apart after one day because they were single layer cakes. The cakes here are freshly assembled and have two layers of cake so extra stable. Please support this business! They recommend giving them at least a day in advance for the fruit tart cakes. Because they're assembled fresh, I don't think they put a bunch of fruit tart cakes out in the display for walk-ins like the Vietnamese bakery I go to in OC...but I'm really thankful I got the cake with such a quick turnaround. read more

Rude lady!!! I normally do not care to write review but I just have to for this lady. I went it to order a cake. Cost 140 for a half sheet. The store has a Mastercard or Visa logo. On the counter says you have to buy more than 10 dollars. The lady still said no to cards. This is 21st Century. You are so outdated. Then I after paying cash in full. I went home and called to ask how many inches is half sheet? Is it 16 inches? The lady kept saying 3 inches. I said no, I don't need the height. I want to know about the length. The lady didn't get me. And said for me to get my money and that she didn't need my business. Dang. Like that? I was not arguing or bargaining. Buy here every year for my daughters birthday. I always order just the top tier tres leches plain as I decorate it my self and make the bottom layer. I have never payed more than $35 for an 8 inch cake which has never been too small for the top tier of my two layer cake. This year I decided to just buy the two tiers from them to save time, Unbuilt. I went in to inquire just two PLAIN UNDECORATED CAKES (8in and 12in). And the guy started drawing the tiers. I told him no need as I decorate and assemble it my self. But tell me why as soon as he knew I do that myself he quoted me over $250 for just TWO UNDECORATED CAKES!! How does that math add up? I grew up eating whipped spongey strawberry cake and thought that's how all cakes were made..wrong! This cake is not like the ones you get at Costco, Sam's, Albertsons etc., it's better! I consider these kinds of cake, the Asian style cakes. You have to call the number and tell them what you want and what you want written on the cake. The baker/owner brings out your cake and leaves it on the one lone chair outside of their shop. You get the cake leave the money on the chair then your done. If your paying with card, he hands your card and receipt from the door slot where the mailman drops the mail. Someone tried to grab the cake box as he was opening the door and he let out a grunt and moved his chin towards the chair hahah too funny! We ordered the "crispy cake" which consists of sponge cake ( I think) and in the middle there are these crispy layers that add a nice crunch to the cake! Appreciated how the cream was not heavy or too sweet and the fresh fruit on top made it a perfect summer treat! definitively would recommend and is coming back! The ambiance is pretty plain but expected from an Asian bakery , it's pretty up front no need for the aesthetic few which I enjoyed because although I like aesthetics places I appreciate a mom & pop feel. Staff is amazing and gets everything done on time. I typically order on the phone and pay at the store. My favorite order is the mango cake because it's beautiful! Who doesn't love a beautiful light fruity cake. Parking is in a plaza shared with many other businesses. Beware of parking since it can be hectic there. It's been two years since my last review, and I'm happy nothing has changed. I came on Fourth of July to pick up a last minute cake. I paid $35 for a 1/4 sheet tres leches strawberry cake and $2.50 for a Tiramisu slice. I was charged no tax even when using my debit card nor was I charged a fee to use my card. It was a ten minute wait for the cake. I'm surprised how quickly they are able to whip it up. I tired my tiramisu slice as I waited. It tasted great. It was moist and strong coffee taste. I am not one wanting to leave a bad review, especially for a small business. But after today's experience I feel that I need to let people know how horrible their customer service is. So the story is I called Thursday night to put in an order of a quarter sheet cake to be picked up on Saturday. The lady on the phone told me this is considered to be a special cake so I need to come and put a deposit first before they can make the cake. Friday night at about 5:30 PM I stop by the place and the lady tells me that the earliest time I can pick it up is at 12PM. My sons party begins at 1 PM and there's no way the cake would arrive there before the guests. And what is also awful is that I am driving over 40 minutes to come here to put a deposit and she wasn't willing to even work it out with me. If she had informed me about this on the phone I would have placed it somewhere else. She kept walking away behind the huge refrigerators in the store, instead of talking to me. Then she brushes me aside and tells me to take my business somewhere else. What terrible customer service!!! Now I am left stranded Friday night trying to find a place to order a cake for my son's fifth birthday. UNRELIABLE for important events. Ordered a cake 1 week in advance for Mother's Day because I knew it would be a busy day. Ordered for the first time from this bakery to support small local businesses. Cake was suppose to be done by 11:30am. Arrived and was told cake order was somehow missed even tho it was placed a week in advance. I get it, it's a busy holiday. Stuff happens so I am understanding. Girl behind counter assures me they'll call me back in 20 mins when the cake is ready. No call and it's around 5pm now. The cake was for a birthday party and all the guests are practically gone. I tried calling the store but no answer. I had to drive to the store and the cake was there waiting.... 6 hours after the time it was suppose to be ready. No apologies either from the staff. I get that it's a holiday and that stuff happens but for me to order a week in advance and still get a cake 6 hours later... with no courtesy phone call to let me know the cake was ready... especially for a birthday is very disappointing.
