I really, really really wish we could have a spot like Flo's in LA. I happened to be in the area at the butt crack of dawn for some work shenanigans and ended up crawling into Flo's just exhausted and starving. As soon as I walked in, though, I knew that I lucked out to find a local treasure, and I was about to eat like a champ. I was seated and taken care of right away. The woman who took my order was kind enough to offer substitutions for me when my ambitious stomach wanted a good three things off the menu. The biscuits and gravy were warm and gooey. The potatoes O'Brien were golden and seasoned perfectly. The eggs were fluffy. The bacon was crispy. Oh, but the coffee? The coffee was divine. I was saved by that coffee in ways I didn't even know I needed saving. I highly doubt I'll be out in El Monte again, I just... don't ever have any business there, usually. The cozyness lf this place is really a key factor for me, and why I like to come eat here so much. U can sit at their bar and have a meal and feel like you are eating at the breakfast counter in ur own kitchen. The food here is INSANELY GOOD, from their menudo on the weekends and their Mexican style breakfast or American style ones. Everything I have tried here is a winner for me. The staff is absolutely great and very friendly. They come and ask you if u are doing ok, and they are always refilling ur coffee. I found this small, cozy, warm, and cute brunch place in the neighborhood. I am guessing this is veteran/family own restaurant because of the decorations, which I like a lot. They have very simple menu. I ordered French toast and country fried steak. Food was decent, nothing too special about that. Our server is very friendly and attentive. Service was fast. Parking lot is small, but I was able to find a parking spot. If I want to have a lazy day on my day off and do not want to cook. A very nice find. I had to be in the area and needed an hour to sit and have breakfast. I fired up Yelp, and this place stood out. It has a feel of a locals place where they have their regulars. My server was very friendly and I get the feeling she has worked here a long time. I was in the mood for waffles, so I went with that. The strawberry whipped cream waffle was very good and you could tell they use quality ingredients. Very satisfying. The coffee was fresh and hot. Just the way I like it. I asked to see the menu when I was finished because the experience was so good and I want to return soon. It looks like their Mexican breakfast specialties and lunch menu even stand out more. This is one of my top places to go in El Monte and the locals definitely love coming here. It is my breakfast stop at least once a week and if possible twice. I love the service and food choices. Yolanda is so friendly and prompt with service. She is a plus for this place. I like to change up my order when I go and Yolanda always offers great choices. I usually order the French toast, pancakes or the Mexican dishes like the chorizo, Huevos Rancheros or Machaca. The tater tots are also a big favorite and the potatoes. So on Friday (6/19/26), I took a day off from work, too much PTO lol. I was getting my car ac fixed in the El Monte area and they don't open until 9 am so I came back to Flo's to have breakfast. Is one of my second favorite places to have biscuits and gravy. And their chicken fried steak is pretty good too, that's what I ordered. I ordered the black coffee and is really strong just the way I like it, you know the saying; once you go black you never go back ( it goes for something else too ;). lol). Chicken fried steak was nice, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, is pretty thick with lots of gravy smothered on top. The biscuits and gravy was on point with the fluffiness, I wished I got two instead of one. Then I got 2 slices of wheat toast with butter and 2 sunny side up eggs. Everything was good, I sprinkled black pepper on everything, it tasted even better. The meal came with either hash browns or O'Brian potatoes, I didn't want that because I might be too full. I want to get a massage later after my car is fixed. So after a delicious breakfast, I still have 1 1/2 hours before the auto shop opens, what to do ? I saw on YouTube on how to really clean the glass windows on you car, to get it spotless. Mixed half water and half vinegar in a spray bottle and wipe with newspaper, omg, my car looks brand new lol it really works. Anyway, go to Flo's and have a great breakfast, all their items are really good and the owner is really nice. This place is a staple in El Monte, my parents took me for the first time when I was in elementary school and now this is my favorite place to take friends and catch up we ordered: green chilaquiles- 10/10 waffle with strawberries and whipped cream - 10/10 I always order their green chilaquiles with rice and beans, usually a hot chocolate too but it was wayyy too hot today. Everything was delicious and very savory. The service is excellent. The owner, Flo is delightful, considerate, and accommodating. Found this breakfast place nearby and they serve up delicious brunch food. Definitely seems like a Mexican brunch spot with an interesting interior designs. The food itself looks really basic but taste delicious. I had the country breakfast which was pretty much a classic biscuit and gravy with your normal eggs and hash. Also tried the French toast which was very good. The food here is solid and price was reasonable at about $14.99 each. Has the basic black coffee and it wasn't bad either.
