Looking for a Mexican restaurant that makes things with fresh ingredients? We'll look no further because El Taquito is the place for you. It was my first time coming and was so amazed when I saw that my sopes were made with fresh masa. The fresh masa truly does change up the food taste. My sopes were delicious and size of them were so eye opening. They were huge! I had 1 for lunch and the second for my afternoon break. I also tried their homemade agua de horchata that was refreshing and delicious. Service was great and was attended quickly. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu. Lastly, there salsas were so perfect with spice. I loved it! read more

El Taquito - Sopes de carne asada - Mexican Near Me - El Monte, California

Came here while I was on the hunt for a good carne asada burrito. I placed my order over the phone and picked it up to go. The burrito itself was pretty big and filling. I liked that they use refried beans inside, and the overall flavor was good. My only issue was the meat to rice and beans ratio. There was definitely a lot more rice than carne asada, and I would've liked a little more meat in there. Overall, the burrito was good and the portion was a decent size, but I think it would've been much better with more carne asada. I noticed their wet burrito seems pretty popular, so that's probably what I'll try next time. read more

Awesome menudo con patas. Great service and very large portion. Prices are very reasonable. Hidden gem, highly recommended. Enjoy.

First of all... service was amazing...young girl was so attentive... she offered refills on everything several times. Posole was the star of the show. So tasty!! Menudo was good ... pata was fantastic. Taco de cabeza was ok. Carnitas taco was good. Cafe de olla was great... but the agua de melon was fabulous. Will definitely be back... they definitely care about their food and their customers. You will not want for anything.. they offer refills and extras with no hesitation. Love this place. read more

Check your receipt. They charged us an additional $20ish, perhaps for another entree we didn't order? We should have checked more carefully... Seems like there is at least one other reviewer with a similar experience. Disappointing. read more

recommended their posole and Menudo. You can also bring your own pots to take the pozole/menudo to go. read more

The.Best menudo and salsas around El Monte! No way they can beat this one. I love it, not expensive but some much flavor!!!

Stopped by for burritos and tacos, and I have to say this place is outstanding. The food is full of flavor, perfectly seasoned, and made with care. Every bite reminded me why real Mexican food is about heart, not just recipes. The service was amazing. Everyone greeted me with genuine warmth, and Chef Martin went above and beyond by bringing out a bowl of Menudo just to make me feel welcome. That kind of kindness is rare. El Taquito isn't just a restaurant, it's a place that makes you feel at home. Great food, great people, and a chef who truly cares about his guests. I'll definitely be back, and I'll be telling everyone about this spot. read more

Good menudo and burritos. Like the wet burritos more. Small place but get you in pretty quick. Customer service is great.

I had this when I had to OT at work. I thought the staff was pretty friendly given that the guy knew my coworker. I thought the salsa was pretty good and the burrito was also pretty delicious. It was really well seasoned and I thought I wouldn't mind coming back minus the location. I prob wouldn't mind coming back. read more

I had to come in for menudo but saw sopes being made. I just had to try them and ordered a asada and carnitas on, oh and my menudo. Well I got home and found out I over did it! The sopes were HUGE! Came here on a whim with my daughter. So glad we did. Food is amazing staff is great. Medudo was so good. Reminds me of eating at my grandma's table. My daughter loved her asada burrito too. The aguas frescas are soo good they are full of flavor and not watered down like other places I've been to. This place definately does not disappoint. Cute little restaurant. Definitely recommend 100%. As a Mexican I am very picky and find it hard to find good mexican food while I am out and about. Will definitely come back and bring others with me. read more

Service was okay and the food was okay, I drove from north Hollywood to try it , I wouldn't drive again .

This is the place to go when Menudo is what you're craving, among the vast array of freshly prepared mexican dishes. A hole in wall place west of the city of El Monte. this place offers great tasting food, which most of it is prepared when ordered. As soon as you come inside the restaurant, the kitchen is right in front of you with staff cooking up food and greeting you at the same time. They offer alcoholic beverages as well like beers and micheladas. As well as soft drinks and aguas frescas. read more

Foodie friends recommended this place Very friendly helpful service from lady at counter. Friendly owner too. It's called El Taquito so I should have ordered the taquito platos combination. But I got the chile relleno instead. I always get chile relleno in every new Mex place I visit...no matter what...the plate was a feast for the eyes, lots of delicious sauce...scary how many sliced jalapeños but no seeds so not spicy....looking under the chile relleno was not whole or breaded, it looked roasted and not clear if it was stuffed...looked to me like the pepper was sliced or shredded but definitely the stem was in evidence. A puzzling dish as the taste of the sauce was good but couldn't tell if the cheese was inside the nearly absent relleno or simply melted on top along with the blanket of sauce. 3/5. The rice was flavorful, fluffy 4/5..I liked the frijoles 4/5 but it was a small portion like the size of my palm. I got three corn tortillas, hot to touch, and chewy which I liked. 5/5. The combination also came with salad with radishes and sliced tomato, cut lettuce. I could tell if there was a dressing or not. 3/5 Next time -- order what my fellow Yelpies recommended...the wet burritos, the menudo, or the tacos....or their namesake.. taquitos. But pass on the chile relleno. Oh - the Jamaica was good, and the cup was gigantic!! Nice balance of sweet and tart. I never got a check so I just walked up to counter. I rang up at about $24 before tip...the menu said the chile relleno was about $15, so just how much was that big drink? Note to self, get a cheque next time, so I wont pay then walk away confused about the prices. read more

True Authentic Mexican Food. Aguas were fresh. We ordered Tamarindo and Piña. Salsa given upon arrival was delicious and paired well with our food. My husband ordered carne asada sopes and I ordered the huevos a la Mexicana. My plate came with fresh flour tortillas. Beans were fresh and not from a can. I highly recommend. The restaurant is on a busy street and can be easy to miss. Inside reminded me of going to abuelitas house in Mexico. read more

Best wet burrito in town! Go for the chile enchilada red or the green verde sauce or half and half! Both excellent! This long standing hole in the wall provides regulars and locals some of the best Mexican food at the best prices with generous portions! Always super busy with folks taking out burritos, requires, enchiladas and even breakfast and menudo. Family second generation ran with super friendly service! They make everything from scratch and their flour tortillas are so delicious! They also serve a variety of Mexican beers at Great prices. Counter service with small dining room. Good service and ambiance. Chilaquiles were pretty good, and the menudo was delicious.

The food is good here but very expensive. What I don't like, is that they charge $3.50 for a can of soda. You can get a 12 pack of soda for $5.00. And the owners are charging $3.50 for one can. $3.50 times 12 is $42.00 dollars. The owners are making $42.00 dollars off a 12 pack of soda that they only paid $5 dollars for. That's just being money hungry and showing no appreciation towards their customers. read more

I told my dad we can anywhere he wants for Father's day. He picked here because he was craving menudo. He is a regular. They had seating. They came and served us fast. I got the mojarra frita plate. It didn't disappoint. The fish was a great size. Perfectly seasoned. The fries aren't frozen. They're perfectly cooked and seasoned. It was so much food. I couldn't finish it. The rice had great flavor too. My dad and his girl were happy with the menudo. It was a good portion. They give tostadas with 2 homemade chiles. My wife got the popcorn shrimp plate and couldn't finish either. Excellent service, prices, and food. We will definitely be back. read more

Someone on social media had mentioned this place has the best Pozole around, and they were right, it was excellent. The chili Verde was also delicious. My hubby bought a chile relleno plate and a wet burrito for to-go. One star for large portions, yes, and another star for the tasty frijoles. Other than that, I was really disappointed with the chile relleno! It had more sautéed onions than anything else. The sauce was too thin and not flavored enough, and the chile itself was not coated in an even amount of egg batter. Very soggy and the cheese was hard. I'm surprised many people gave it good rating. Also didn't like the rice because it was too mushy and they used broken rice. Wet burrito was forgettable. But again, refried beans were so good!! read more

It's a small mom and pop shop near the El Monte DMV. I was hungry and looking for something near by. Once you enter it's super cozy and the environment is so lively. Everyone seemed super happy and smiley. I got the wet burrito (they recommend the green sauce). You can watch them make it in front of you, which I think is nice. Its prepared reasonably fast too. Wet burrito 4/5: it's huge and definitely something I couldn't finish in one sitting. Price is 11.99 before tax. I think it's pretty worth it considering the amount. The flavors were pretty good. I wouldn't say it's the best burrito I've had, but it's pretty darn good. I think the general vibe and welcoming staff is what really sells the place! Would come again if I'm ever in the neighborhood :) read more
