I had to come in for menudo but saw sopes being made. I just had to try them and ordered a asada and carnitas on, oh and my menudo. Well I got home and found out I over did it! The sopes were HUGE! Well now I have food for 2 days, service is always excellent and the restaurant was slow when I got there! Yum, will be back again soon.

Burrito was good and service was really good the chilaquiles mild sauce (green) were good and decent portions ! the burrito wasn't greasy ! it was good and full as well

This is the place to go when Menudo is what you're craving, among the vast array of freshly prepared mexican dishes. A hole in wall place west of the city of El Monte. this place offers great tasting food, which most of it is prepared when ordered. As soon as you come inside the restaurant, the kitchen is right in front of you with staff cooking up food and greeting you at the same time. They offer alcoholic beverages as well like beers and micheladas. As well as soft drinks and aguas frescas.

Menu with new prices. I thought my dinner was supposed to be around $15, my bill was 24.. confused ..how much was that big drink??

Foodie friends recommended this place Very friendly helpful service from lady at counter. Friendly owner too. It's called El Taquito so I should have ordered the taquito platos combination. But I got the chile relleno instead. I always get chile relleno in every new Mex place I visit...no matter what...the plate was a feast for the eyes, lots of delicious sauce...scary how many sliced jalapeños but no seeds so not spicy....looking under the chile relleno was not whole or breaded, it looked roasted and not clear if it was stuffed...looked to me like the pepper was sliced or shredded but definitely the stem was in evidence. A puzzling dish as the taste of the sauce was good but couldn't tell if the cheese was inside the nearly absent relleno or simply melted on top along with the blanket of sauce. 3/5. The rice was flavorful, fluffy 4/5..I liked the frijoles 4/5 but it was a small portion like the size of my palm. I got three corn tortillas, hot to touch, and chewy which I liked. 5/5. The combination also came with salad with radishes and sliced tomato, cut lettuce. I could tell if there was a dressing or not. 3/5 Next time -- order what my fellow Yelpies recommended...the wet burritos, the menudo, or the tacos....or their namesake.. taquitos. But pass on the chile relleno. Oh - the Jamaica was good, and the cup was gigantic!! Nice balance of sweet and tart. I never got a check so I just walked up to counter. I rang up at about $24 before tip...the menu said the chile relleno was about $15, so just how much was that big drink? Note to self, get a cheque next time, so I wont pay then walk away confused about the prices.

Best wet burrito in town! Go for the chile enchilada red or the green verde sauce or half and half! Both excellent! This long standing hole in the wall provides regulars and locals some of the best Mexican food at the best prices with generous portions! Always super busy with folks taking out burritos, requires, enchiladas and even breakfast and menudo. Family second generation ran with super friendly service! They make everything from scratch and their flour tortillas are so delicious! They also serve a variety of Mexican beers at Great prices. Counter service with small dining room. Best Mexican in the area!

I told my dad we can anywhere he wants for Father's day. He picked here because he was craving menudo. He is a regular. They had seating. They came and served us fast. I got the mojarra frita plate. It didn't disappoint. The fish was a great size. Perfectly seasoned. The fries aren't frozen. They're perfectly cooked and seasoned. It was so much food. I couldn't finish it. The rice had great flavor too. My dad and his girl were happy with the menudo. It was a good portion. They give tostadas with 2 homemade chiles. My wife got the popcorn shrimp plate and couldn't finish either. Excellent service, prices, and food. We will definitely be back.

The food is so delicious and staff and service are even better. You definitely get the homey feeling eating here and we learned this restaurant has been owned by the same family since 1984. I got the chicken enchiladas with green sauce and my partner ordered the carne asada plate. Amazing and delicious. Super flavorful, piping hot, and even better with their table side salsa that adds extra spice. read more

My god!!! Close this place down. I have never given this bad of a review, but, this place is deserving. The burrito had tiny bits of meat and totally greasy. The soup was full of chunks of meat fat. There was a slice of lemon and it looked like someone dragged it across the floor. $30 for total crap that I just threw in the trash. No way am I going to risk getting food poisoning. It use to be that these kind of places were always iffy, but then, you were only throwing away a few dollars. Now it's totally not worth the cost of having to trash the food. Which I haven't done in a really long time. For that money I could have gone yo Stonefire grill, ordered a lunch rib plate and a glass of wine. read more

Great food on the mid priced overall but the food is worth it only thing that won't get them 5 stars is that they don't have refills on the aguas frescas so any time you want some more it's another charge at regular price and increase your bill at the end read more

Theeee best little spot in The San Gabriel Valley. The staff is wonderful and very attentive. Martin the owner is the best. Make you feel like family. What this place lacks in size makes up for it in flavor. Every bite packs a punch. Must place to come and eat. Weekends are packed with patrons picking up their menudo. El Taquito is one of my fave Mexican restaurants. With it being very close to my work I come here 2 to 3 times a week! They do have a small menu but their dishes taste like home cooked meals. I also must say the plates are very inexpensive! I usually get the carne Asada which is under ten bucks. The owner, Martin treats all his customers as if they are family. Always look forward to coming to El Taquito! read more

This place sells pretty good Mexican food. I ordered the chilaquiles plate and an horchata. The chilaquiles were good and filling. The horchata was also good. I did wish they would serve it in a bigger cup or gave one free refill. Waitress also gave me chips and salsa. My bill came out to $13.50; they charge $1 to use a debit/credit card. read more

I should start coming here more often and so should you. Ordered 4 tacos: asada, pollo, carnitas, al pastor. All delicious, lean, and juicy. Al pastor was my favorite just beating out the asada. Both sauces they offer are flavorful and not overpowering in taste or heat. Their Jamaica is made in-house and has an unusual blend of flavors and I can't quite tell what they are. It's a little sweet for my but very good. I didn't catch the cools name but he's super friendly and I think might be be part of the ownership. read more

I've been coming to this place since I was a young pup. I remember coming with my grandfather. Martin's food is always on point. It's very consistent and full of flavor. I have never ate anything here that was not bomb. Today we had for dinner MOJJADA FRITA and CHILEQUILES with a coke and half Jamaica and half pina(try it, it's the bomb)!!! Me n my old lady drive from El Sereno to Monte just to eat Martin's food. Well worth it!!!!! read more

I ordered a chili relleno burrito and it was ok. I asked for red sauce which was a mild tomato sauce. But wet burritos automatically come with green sauce which may be a little better. The table salsas are excellent. The green is smokey and the red is sweet and spicy; they're yummy. read more

Came to L.A. to catch a Dodgers game on a Friday night. Slept in Saturday past the hotel's complimentary breakfast time. Googled restaurants close to me and El Taquito popped up right down the street from the hotel. Let me tell you..the customer service, amazing! The coffee, delicious! The food portions, huge, the taste, out of this world! Hubby had tacos de cabeza (beef head) and lengua (beef tongue). I had huevos Rancheria, and our son had chorizo con huevo. SO GOOD! Hours of operation are incorrect on Yelp. I was hoping that this was a new hidden gem, but the reviews are deceiving... didn't dine in, so this is just based on a take out order. Ordered a taquito plate with no rice and beans and a carne asada quesadilla. The total came out to about $16. The lady charged me the same price of a taquito plate with rice and beans, which was about $8 after tax. It came with 5 soggy taquitos with barely any cheese at the top, and some old looking lettuce. The carne asada quesadilla wasn't great either. Seems like they are very stingy with the cheese at this place. read more

I love this little hole in the wall. Got the menudo which I think is my favorite menudo that I've tried so far. In my opinion it is better than los chilitos added they give more meat and less chickpeas. My husband also likes the burritos better here. Will come again! read more

Grabbed breakfast burritos from here. We tried the eggs and chorizo and the eggs and ham burritos. They both come with beans and rice in them making them super big. The red sauce is plenty hot and the green sauce is tasty read more

This is one of the best mom and pop shops you're going to find in the SGV. Food is alway great, tastes like your eating at your abuela's house, fresh, made with love. If you're in the area, you owe it to yourself to swing by and grab some food from one of El Monte's hidden gems. read more

While looking for a small Mexican food place we ran into this small but cozy place. Came here to break my fast, after 16 hours of fasting I was starving. Ordered huevos rancheros and my son from another mother had a red burrito mojado. Customer service was great. Very nice and friendly personnel. The ladies here make you feel very welcome. I like how the place is small but well kept / and clean. The only thing I didn't like that the chips were a little stale but that's not enough to cost a start. Overall very happy we came here. read more
