Before I go into the bad, of which there is plenty, let me preface this by saying that despite a wave of 1 star reviews the place was packed on a Tuesday at 10 am. So do with that as you will. Locals must think this is good food. Located in a tiny corner strip mall on a desolate street is this little breakfast/brunch place. I wish I had listened to the 1 star reviews and not gone in. I especially wish I had seen that Yelp had their health listing rated at C before I ordered. Isn't it the law that a restaurant must display their health rating in the window, cause it wasn't displayed anywhere to be seen. So first they brought out a large jug of water with some fruit slices and mint in it. Would've been nice if the water wasn't room temperature. Is the ice machine not working? Then came the best part of the entire meal - my hazelnut latte. The coffee was good and the cup is gigantic. My teen had the french toast, eggs (scrambled), and bacon plate. The one slice of french toast was okay but nothing special. The eggs were bland and lacking any seasoning including salt and pepper. The bacon, of which I got a side for myself, too, was absolutely disgusting. At first I thought the bacon had been cooked possibly on a dirty grill in old grease or right after something else had been cooked, as it had a horrendous aftertaste like rotten meat and sweaty gym socks. They made a new plate but this one was raw, despite being ordered well done and crispy. Raw. And it absolutely stunk. That was when I came to think it might be uncured pork belly like you get a Korean KBBQ and not bacon at all. Luckily they cancelled the order. I also got a side of the breakfast (rosemary) potatoes, which I also ordered crispy and well done but arrived as a scoop of mush. They tasted okay but I saw crispy potatoes at numerous other tables. Don't know why they couldn't cook as ordered. I also had the dutch baby. I'm sorry but this is a dessert bread pudding and not a real dutch baby pancake. The inside should be airy and fluffy, not sopping wet. I'm not sure if the inside was undercooked and possibly raw dough or if they make it with some sweetened cream inside. It was not good, and it was way too sweet. Instant diabetes sweet. I will never go back. I strongly recommend that all people stay as far away as possible. The service was good - friendly and attentive, but what good is that when the food is so awful? I also had severe stabbing pains in my stomach for a couple hours after getting home. Let me start with the coffee and hazelnut latte, amazing. We were seated quickly, which was nice, but then it took about 10-15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Servers kept walking past our table without checking in and honestly looked kind of lost or wandering around aimlessly. Luckily they keep water pitchers on the tables already filled, which now makes perfect sense considering how long it takes to get service. Smart move on their part. I ordered the avocado toast with a side of bacon, and my husband ordered the chorizo skillet. The coffees and my food came out quickly, but his never did. Instead, we watched an older server walk around the restaurant with his skillet and bacon, stopping at multiple tables asking if it belonged to them. Twice she set it down at other tables before being told it wasn't theirs. The third time, she finally brought it to us. That seems like it should be a health issue, what if someone else had stuck their fingers in it not knowing. By then, my husband didn't even want it anymore because it had already been sitting in front of other people. To their credit, they remade it, but then we waited another 15 minutes for his food while I had already finished eating. We actually watched another couple sitting next to us get so frustrated because their order was completely forgotten. After waiting forever with no food and barely any acknowledgment, they eventually just got up and left. Overall, cute spot and really good coffee, but the service was incredibly disorganized and the food mix-up was a huge turnoff. Unfortunately, we won't be back. read more

5 stars for the service, we got to sit down quickly at prime time Saturday morning and good generous size of coffee. I've been here multiple times. Disappointed at this time when my boy ordered Egg and Steak, the steak wasn't fresh but also smelly. I just didn't want to deal with it, we didn't complain. FYI, I don't recommend the steak here. My family and I of 8 came on Saturday at 11AM. Although it was a bit of a wait (perhaps around 30-40 minutes), the food made it worth it. It was my first time having chilaquiles and it was so good 10/10 I would order it again. I also got a brown sugar latte and that was very delicious as well with the right amount of sweetness for me. I also got their cookie butter French toast which was good but too sweet for me I couldn't eat much but it's great for those who have a sweet tooth. The servers were sweet and very quick. This is a very cute restaurant for breakfast/brunch! We came to try it on a Wednesday lunch. We ordered steak and eggs, the steak was not good, very rough. I wish they charge more but give a better quality steak. But the way they flavored the steak was very good!! Then we ordered the smoked salmon benny, very delicious! Loved everything about this dish! I would come back for this! We also ordered their signature dessert, Dutch baby, it tasted exactly like bread pudding. It was good but not what I imagined how it would taste. The food here was delicious! I ordered a simple breakfast plate with a side of pancakes and orange juice. Even though it was a basic order it was super filling. The orange juice tasted fresh, everything was well-seasoned, and the pancakes were especially good. Service was overall good. I wasn't checked on as often as some of the larger tables, but since I was dining alone and it was a busy morning, I completely understand. The wait time was a bit longer than I expected, but again, it was pretty packed so I'm taking that into consideration. Prices felt fair for the quality and portions, which I definitely appreciated. I recently visited Sage for the first time and was really looking forward to trying it. The space itself is very cute and has a nice, welcoming vibe, which made me excited to dine there. Unfortunately, my experience with the food didn't quite match that first impression. I ordered the steak and eggs (medium rare, over-easy eggs, and fruit instead of potatoes). When my plate arrived, the food was cold, and the fruit was placed right next to the steak. Because the steak was medium rare, the juices--along with some of the blood--ended up soaking into the fruit, which made it very unappetizing. I sent the plate back to be warmed up, but when it returned, the eggs were fully cooked instead of over easy, and the steak was closer to medium-well. The steak itself also lacked seasoning, and there wasn't any salt available on the table to adjust it. I understand that off days can happen, and maybe this was just one of them, but I was definitely disappointed since I had been looking forward to the experience. I would suggest separating fruit from hot proteins--especially when serving steaks that are rare or medium rare, where the juices and blood can easily soak into the fruit. Hoping this was just an isolated experience, as the place itself has a lot of potential. read more

Sage serves such yummy breakfast and food in general! I normally don't like chorizo but it tasted so good in this breakfast burrito. That green sauce they have is to die for!! Also I think they make their tortilla chips fresh in house, it tastes so fresh and tasty. The pulled pork benedict is so flavorful. The pork is very tender and juicy. The potatoes are also so well cooked. We didn't order any drinks but when I looked over at other tables, the cups and mugs looked huge! Will probably try some next time. Met up with my sister here since it was close to her. We both had never been here in the past or heard of this place. When I arrived there was no parking and tons of signs everywhere in this lot and the neighboring lot, stating no parking for Sage Social. Read the reviews again and saw that everyone usually parks on the street. We parked on the street and walked down to the entrance. Parking was a hassle and it sucks because the business next door has tons of parking and no customers. Once inside it's small but cute. I could tell they were going for a garden vibe with the artificial plants hanging from the ceiling. I had the orange juice and the chilaquiles. Both were very good and tasty. Service was fine, but towards the end they forgot about us and didn't refill our waters. Overall it was a cute experience, but the parking is not ideal here and would deter me from visiting unless I found parking in the first 7 minutes. read more

I came here for lunch last week. I was in a meeting in Irwindale and realized I was only 8 minutes away. I've had this place bookmarked on Yelp for a while so decided to pop in before heading home. Well with that, I left circled around and came back. Then I ended up at the business next door and also noticed the signs, but finally found a spot. I should have read the reviews about the parking situation first as some people mentioned they've gotten or witnessed people getting towed. That's already a giant negative. When I entered the restaurant, I noticed the interior decor which was really nice. It wasn't very busy and about 3 tables sat. I waited a while at the front before someone mentioned I could sit anywhere I wanted. I'm guessing they may have been short staffed as I waited 10+ minutes before someone took my order. I ordered a hot vanilla latte, a side salad, and their Dutch Baby (Dutch pancake). My latte came out pretty fast as did my salad, which was delicious. On the menu, it tells you to allow 15 minutes for preparation. The pitcher of water also had fruit inside which was nice. The Dutch Baby was just okay and I don't think I would order it again. The service improved from there. My total with tip came out to $35.75. Would I return? If I was in the area and there was parking then yes, I would love to try some other items. But if I were in a rush then probably not. read more

Everything was awesome and delicious! I was unfortunately towed due to parking in the Taco place. And I unfortunately did not know my rights. IF YOU ARE PRESENT DURING THE TOW OR THE HOOK UP OF YOUR VEHICLE AND YOU DEMAND TO PAY THE DROP FEE. THEY NEED TO COMPLY TO CALIFORNIA LAW. I will be sending a demand letter to that tow company since I was present and asked to pay the driver and he refused and still continued with the tow. I should've opened my car and called the police. They also didn't accept credit cards payment which is also in violation to California law. I hope this helped! read more

Walking in, there were a few open tables and it took a few minutes for the girl at the front to seat us. We sat down and it took quite a bit to even get menus, so my friend got up and got menus for us. Our server was extremely but really did not speak that much English, but it just seems like there is a lack of urgency from her and communication or for that matter the people that work there. Ordered cafe de olla, which was good but it wasn't hot, it was warm. The server brought us a second one and it was STILL not hot after telling her. Ordered chicken and waffles. Big mistake. Waffles tasted like Eggos waffles and the chicken tasted like nuggets. Not to mention that the food came all at separate times and it took about 1 30mins to get all our food to the table. Luckily the kids meals came out first. plates left on other tables for more then 15 mins. Again, our server was very kind but I don't know if I'd be willing to give this place a third chance. There were three of us and one order came out way before the rest of the orders. Ordered biscuits and gravy and they had no biscuits so had to reorder and that delayed the second and third persons order. The food on the previous visit was very good but this time just ok. Went out with a friend for Brunch Easter Sunday and what a wonderful surprise this place was. Very nice and quaint restaurant. Family owned and run. Every staff member we interracted with were very nice and you could feel they appreciated our business. This place scores a 9/10 in my book when it came to customer service. They have it down. They have an outside patio but we enjoyed the ambiance inside. Music they had playing was a perfect volume. The food was delish! Ordered: latte ...big cup! Nutella crepes..yum! Trio Avocado Toast..the favorite!. Chilaquilles with 2 overeasy eggs and potatoes. Spinach Florentine Eggs Benedict. For both these dishes, the eggs were sadly overcooked. We didn't find much spinach in the benedict and initially thought they.served us someone else's order. The english muffin was quite soggy but overall it still tasted good. Potatoes on both dishes was the bomb. I could just have a whole plate of those and be happy! Only downside was the parking. Tough as many spots were assigned to other businesses in that lot. started craving brunch after an appointment and sage social eatery was located close by. getting there was no problem and the parking lot is spacious with a few spots. we entered and were politely greeted with aesthetic decor and a warm smile. once we sat and ordered, the plates came out pretty quick as it was not crazy busy. the prices definitely match the portions and the food was more than enough for two ! my most favorite item would be the hot brown sugar latte. it is quite sweet, but i love it. the art and foamy top also adds a cute touch. second would be the side of waffles. i am not sure what they use to sweeten it, but it is so delicious and fluffy. however, after we got our food, we were hardly checked up on until we were finished and the bill was dropped off. overall the food is really delicious (though it could get a little oily) and service was OK. read more

Chilaquiles ($14.25) + pulled pork ($3): Tortilla chips with sauce, sour cream, pulled pork, thinly sliced red onions and chopped tomatoes. I would have preferred pico as mentioned on the menu but it appears it perhaps was not available hence the onions and tomatoes on the side. Served alongside rosemary potatoes. The potatoes were unique with bits of kale intertwined - something different and was quite delicious. Dutch Baby ($16): Dutch pancake served with whipped cream and fresh fruit. The dutch baby comes out in a little cast iron skillet and takes 15 minutes to prepare. Though this was a signature item, we were disappointed as the pancake was a bit burnt throughout the top and the top half was completely dry. The Dutch Baby is fairly small but between 5 of us, we only ate half. Texture was more bread pudding like than a pancake. Small parking lot shared with 7-11 and a laundromat that has their own reserved spots. Street parking available otherwise. read more
