I love places like this because they always have the most authentic and flavorful food--and this spot did not disappoint! I ordered the sancocho de pollo, and it was absolutely delicious--the flavors took me right back to my grandma's cooking. My partner had the bandeja paisa, and he devoured it--it was that good! The décor is a bit old-fashioned, but honestly, I didn't mind. I came for the food, and it delivered. I tried their empanadas ($1.75), bandeja paisa ($16.25)and lulo ($3.75) which is sour apple. The lulo drink was creamy and cold, I haven't tried it before but I like the citrusy taste to it. I tried two empanada which was filled with creamy shredded chicken, very moist in a corn based empanada. It comes with green chili sauce that was not too spicy and lime wedge. I tried one of their most ordered dishes, bandeja paisa ($16.25), which is rice, lettuce, tomatoes, a sunny side up egg, a strip of fried pork belly, thin steak, a fried plantain, an arepa and a small bowl of beans. Amazing! 10/10. My husband and I ordered 2 cheese arepas, 1 empanada, 1 lulo, 1 bistec, and 1 bandeja paisa. All under $50. The inside is small and cash only but the food is so worth it. It helps to know Spanish but the menus are in Spanish and English, so if anything you can point to your options. The lulo was so interesting- honestly it reminds me of orange Julius lol Seemed like a family owned business, an older gentleman helped us out. Very kind service. read more

Yes, get the Bandeja Paisa. Yes, get the empanadas. Yes, support the small hole in the wall business that grabs your heart strings the moment you are seated. You can easily tell it's family owned and with all heart. An amazing menu with delicious Colombian dishes and face it, we don't have too many Colombian restaurants in and around our neck of the woods. So this little place is a gem. The chicharron on that bandeja Paisa, alone with the rice, would make me a happy camper all day. Those empanadas, came out piping hot and fresh from the kitchen with limes and chimmichuri. This place is one of the few and probably best authentic colombian food restaurants outside of LA. The Bandeja paisa, Sancocho, empanadas, and Picada are all recommendations. During the holidays they may offer unique selections such as Lechona. For the best experience I recommend eating there. Unfortunately the two biggest problems they have is they often charge random charges on to go orders to try and make a few extra dollars, and unless you eat there they are VERY cheap with the portions on to go orders. This has driven some friends and family away, bad business practices but great food. read more

This place has been here for years, I've been to every other business in this strip mall but this one. Well scratch this one off the list too. Always looking for something different for my kids to try. They were game. Small little place. It was busy with only one mesera. She did tell us it would be a moment. Well once we placed our order it did take about 45 min and we got it to go. I ordered the Bandeja Paisa with carne asada. It was a strong dish. Little bit of everything came with it. I ordered a morcilla aka blood sausage. Haven't had that in years and it was good if that's your cup of tea. Other dish we ordered was the aroz con pollo and some empanadas. Food was good. Only thing in hindsight is I think we should of dined in. Because after waiting for our order we still had to drive home afterwards. I have really been wanting some yummy Colombian food and peppe's did not disappoint. The empanadas were fantastic, wonderful texture.. crispy outside and nice and stuffed inside. Along with the empanadas they make a great ají "salsa" to eat them with. The papa rellena was fantastic. Maracuya drink made with milk is absolutely delicious. Came here to taste Columbian food and was extremely disappointed. I ordered some empanada appetizers that were okay but not anything special. Then my Carne Guisado was almost inedible - the meat was tough and mostly fat. The breaded pork my husband ordered was dried out and fried to a crisp. My 9 year old had the fried chicken and only liked the french fries! Friday night at 6:00 I was surprised that the restaurant was empty. This should have given me an idea about the food. Terrible service. The old man that runs this place is always rude and stingy with food. The food here is really not that great anymore. It never really was great- but decent. Now it's completely bland and gross. The service has always been bad with this man but we'd still come for the food every so often. We'll never be back after this last experience. Ate at the Mi Son Cubano Festival yesterday at Bonillo Park in San Dimas. Many Latin restaurants serving their goods, including Peppe's. They had lots of stuff that looked good so I decided to try the Lechon Plate which was roasted big with rice. Presentation was wonderful, they had a whole pig stuffed with beautiful yellow rice and were slicing the pig as they went along. However, once I got my plate, I was shocked! The meat tasted old or bad. The rice was bland, not flavorful like normal Cuban food, I'm Cuban. Very disappointed. Spent $10 and threw the whole plate away after 2 bites! You know it had to be bad. Cuban food is so easy to cook, not sure why so many restaurants don't get it??? read more

Not many Colombian restaurants in the LA area and I gave this place a chance, but unfortunately it was a huge let down. It's very small business, older couple owns the place, it I arrived on time when their hours say they are opened, but waited over 20 mins before they opened the door. I even ordered pad thai at the Thai place next door to overcome my hunger/frustration. I ordered the bandeja paisa and sancocho, but the food lacked flavor, very bland and tasteless.
