Tallarin verde con pechuga de pollo.

Mr Pollo is the sister store of another Peruvian restaurant called Misky Misky (see my other review) the difference is this has a smaller menu, and smaller interior, but the same system of ordering at the counter and they will bring the food to your table. The menu items look familiar, and can possibly be offered at Misky Misky, since they have a pretty extensive menu there. We order 3 dishes: Arroz con pollo. Cilantro rice and grilled chicken. Perfectly grilled chicken with fluffy green rice. Tallarin verde con salmon. Basil spinach pasta with salmon: Pasta had the right chewy texture, with tender salmon. This was our favorite dish. Pechuga Al Chimichurri, grilled chicken with chimichurri, rice and salad. Grilled chicken with a subtle smoky flavor balanced well with a salad. The service was great, because we ran into the same friendly guy we met at their sister restaurant, and we will surely return to both locations.

Great, fresh and delicious food, affordable prices, big portions, employees are very friendly w/ seating at one of the twelve tables located inside the restaurant. The challenge here at times is locating parking in the mall private parking and the other popular restaurants located in the same shopping center

Mr. Pollo is my family's favorite Peruvian restaurant. I still think that the Tallarin Verde, Tallarin Saltado, and Lomo Saltado here are the best in terms of flavors, but they are soooooooo salty now. It tastes as if each ingredient--each noodle, piece of meat, vegetable--was coated in salt. My family had to make steamed unseasoned broccoli on the side to relieve some of the saltiness; otherwise the food would have been nigh unbearable (we had ordered takeout). Also, note that the Tallarin verde comes with chicken by default; if you want beef, you have to order Tallarin verde con bistec (I made this mistake). The chimichurri sauce and aji verde sauces taste amazing! They do charge you extra for if you order extra sauce. I'm not sure how many sauces are included cost-free, but I did get six complimentary sauces for three entrees. I ordered takeout via phone on a Saturday at 11am. The food was ready within 10 minutes. It was piping hot. The restaurant is located within a small plaza, so parking has never been an issue for me.

Lomo saltado pretty big portion, it matches the price of the meal which is $19.99 right now

I ordered 3 lomo saltado to go and their portions are really big. For some reason every time I order this dish at a Peruvian place I get absolutely no meat. I think this dish is pretty pricey in general across the board everywhere so for the price that they sell it I feel like I got a great deal because there was a lot of food. There is a reason why this place has over 1000 reviews and it's because the food is just that good. I can't wait to go back and try the other stuff however, the LS is so good that I'm not sure if I would be able to order anything else

We ordered the lomo saltado and it was super flavorful! It comes with your choice of sauce and you get to select 2 of the 3 options that they have. The fries weren't really crispy but the steak was tender. Service was good and we received our food within 15 minutes. This place gets extremely packed on the weekends so try to come earlier if you decide to come in on a weekend. Would highly recommend!

Fav Peruvian in the area. I used to go here for pick up very often when I used to live down the street but now I'm further and I only get it when I come by the area to visit family or friends. I still love it, quality still good but they are so cheap with their sauces now. Back then we used to be able to pour how much chimichurri and other green sauce we wanted but I'm sure all the cheap people who over compensated for that and plus the economy, so I get it. I was annoyed though, because I called on the phone to place two orders and asked for both green sauces. I only got the cilantro one no chimichurri. Ugh. I said both. I am 100% a sauce person so I don't enjoy my food as much when I don't get all the right sauces. It's just me...it's the way I grew up and what I'm used to. So yeah next time I need to check my to go bag to make sure everything I requested is there. I love the Tallarines Verdes con Bistec (Green pasta w/steak) and we always get the popular dish Lomo saltado. Last visit I ordered the chicken fried rice and I'm so surprised to say it was so good! Not dry at all as I expected. Chicken tender as well. They do move fast here though and they are nice.

【Background】 Thursday, June 26, 2025, 5:10 PM If you're familiar with the food scene in Covina/West Covina, you probably know there are a few popular Peruvian restaurants around the area. Mr Pollo is the more affordable option, so I decided to visit for an extremely late lunch. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall. Its interior is rustic with pale yellow walls decorated with framed Peruvian patterns and light maroon flooring. There is a decent amount of seating in the dining area, maybe 4 tables of four and 6 tables of two. There were only two parties eating here when I arrived. The ambiance was casual. The phone frequently rang, and it seemed like there was a constant stream of people entering to pick up their food, so it seems most people don't dine in. 【Food】 Menu: http://mrpollorestaurant.com/ Since I wasn't super familiar with the menu items, I researched Peruvian cuisine beforehand and learned about chifa, a term describing the Chinese Peruvian culinary fusion that originated from Chinese immigrants (mainly from Guangdong) who arrived in the 19th and early 20th centuries and mostly settled in the coast of Peru and Lima. The Chinese Peruvians eventually imported ingredients and grew Chinese vegetables, although they still couldn't prepare authentic versions of their dishes. Over time, Peruvian chefs began to incorporate these traditional ingredients (e.g., ginger, soy sauce, scallions, etc.) and cooking techniques into their repertoire [1]. After learning about the blending of the two cultures, I wanted to try the: * Lomo saltado ($19.00) The dish "lomo saltado" translates to "stir-fried beef," reflecting a clear Chinese influence. The order comes with a choice of two sauces. As it was my first time at Mr Pollo, I asked the worker which sauces were the most popular (apparently, the ají and chimichurri). The ají was pale green, creamy, and, because it was made with ají peppers, a bit spicy [2] while the chimichurri seemed to consist of just parsley and oil. The lomo saltado consisted of a generous mix of red onions, large tomato wedges, soft french fries with a slight bite, and beef so tender that I didn't need to use my knife once while eating. Both sauces paired nicely with the meat. Carb lovers will appreciate this order since it also includes a mound of rice that was savory and garlicky, so a word of caution if you have a date or important meeting later. Overall, everything tasted great. As it was my first time trying Peruvian food, I can't say how it compares to the other great Peruvian restaurants. However, I can say that the menu is more affordable than nearby locations, and my lomo saltado was a huge portion that could easily be split among a larger party if you wanted to sample more dishes. Next time, in honor of the restaurant's name, I'll order a rotisserie chicken dish to try since it appears to be a popular choice. 【Service】 At the front, there is a sign telling customers to order and pay at the counter before sitting. After ordering and paying, I was handed a table number, and I was able to choose my own seat. The staff was friendly. One employee asked if I wanted water after I sat down. Service was fast, and somebody brought my food to my table in less than 10 minutes. Once you're done eating, you just leave, and the employees will bus the table. 【Parking】 The restaurant is located in a smallish strip mall, so the parking lot is also tiny. I can see parking being difficult if you go during peak hours. ---------- [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chifa [2] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aj%C3%AD_(sauce)

Mr. Pollo owner please take care quality in your business.

Since 2006 eating at Mr Pollo has been one of my family's favorite places. I remember the couple working hard, always friendly, later their son. Today was a terrible experience ordered the half chicken combo with rice and mash potatoes. The chicken was burnt and tasted like it had been stored in the fridge. I called the cashier in charge and told her that chicken was black and tasted different, asking if it could be replaced. With bad attitude, she exchanged one piece almost throwing the plate. Please to the owners take care the quality of the food. My $20.68 bill was thrown in the trash.

Delicious ! I don't remember what's the name of the dish I got but it's the green spaghetti with either choice of chicken or beef. I really liked how it was saucy and they offer 2 other sauces on the side. I called in so when I got there I barely waited. Can't wait to come again

    The loma Saltado ...Delicious !

A gem in Covina most definitely for some really good Peruvian food ! Lomo saltado is fire here along with their Tallarin verde con bistec. (Green spaghetti and topped with a generous piece of grilled beef steak (not sure what cut) or grilled chicken. I haven't tried their rotisserie chicken but nextime for sure. They work fast here and on occasions, they will not pick up the phone if you call in . There is a dining area but space and seats are limited. Whenever you are in the area, this spot is a must if you are hungry and looking for something hearty.

Lomo Saltado [8/10]: The dish very flavorful! The beef was slightly dry but still tender and enjoyable. The fries tasted fresh. Overall pretty satisfied with it. Inside was very clean and had good amounts of tables and seating. Workers were friendly.

    Limo Saltado

Here we have the Lomo Saltado, and it seems Mr.Pollo jumped on the shrinkflation train, or an employee ate half of the box before giving it to me . The food always tastes great, but for the price and overall value, it just isn't worth it anymore. This is a one person meal for American standards, and at 30 dollars, there are plenty of other options you can get which would include a drink. I deferred to water to save for my beans and rice meal tomorrow since this meal broke my budget for two days. Insert the "quality not quantity" saying here!

That just shows you how busy they are... busy means delicious... keep calling you will get thru! All worth it! We do it once a week!

Is the listed phone number correct? We keep calling and it goes straight to a mailbox that is full.

Yes, that's the correct number. I asked them about the last time I was there. They only have one line and the cashier is the same person answering the phone. They are super busy so answering the phone is not a priority.

    Do they do Apple Pay?

Yes they do! Use it all the time when I'm there.

Is there another number for this place? We called yesterday and the phone did not go through it kept saying mailbox is full.

    No only one

Are they really closed on Monday's?

    Probably. Most small restaurants are.

This place happened to be on the way home, so we decided to give it a shot and I'm really glad we did. We ordered the lemongrass chicken and the crispy chicken, and both were excellent. The chicken itself was incredibly flavorful and cooked perfectly. The garlic rice was another standout! Fragrant, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. The plate also came with a small cup of broth, which was a nice complement to the meal, although it was a little mild for my personal taste. The only downside for us was the portion balance. A large portion of the plate is filled with raw cabbage, which makes the dish appear bigger than it actually is. While the rice portion was good, the protein felt a bit limited. We're also not big fans of plain raw cabbage, so we ended up leaving all of it behind. If it had been seasoned or lightly blanched, it might have felt more like a thoughtful side rather than filler. That said, the flavor of the chicken and the rice alone would bring me back. If you're looking for something quick and tasty, this is definitely a great stop. But if you're coming in absolutely starving, the portion-to-price ratio might leave you wishing for a bit more.

It's a filling, complete meal. I arrived at Nashville Hot Chicken (West Covina) on Thursday (around 8:18PM). Surprisingly, parking felt tough & competitive in the big lot on this weekday night. Fortunately, I quickly found a parking spot. Customers order at the counter or self-service kiosk. Staff is efficient and professional. When asked questions, Staff politely answered. My food took 10 minutes and 56 seconds. Decent time. As mentioned, I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken (West Covina). The Chicken Sandwich had a lovely, thick presentation. I selected the "Mildy Cyrus" Spice Level, so it was not spicy. It had a very feather-like kick. However, the breading was a bit too hard and chewy for my liking. Thankfully, the chicken came juicy, and its flavor felt enhanced when dipped into the accompanying sauce. Surprisingly, I found myself devouring those thick, golden fries. The fries were the show stopper, and I loved its texture and fresh quality. The drink was also a pleasant add-on. All in all, it's a good, clean meal. Regarding ambiance, Nashville Hot Chicken (West Covina) is a food stall in the popular Haven City Market. There's plentiful seating and tables. The location is also clean, safe, and busy. I also appreciate the many nearby flat screen TVs that play the sports channel for guests. On this Thursday night, I even noticed live music being played in the front courtyard. Lovely spot. Wow, original total bill was about $18 (I rounded up to $19 with tip)... price was a tad on the higher end just for two items and it didn't even come with a drink. As for a consolation, I was given a complimentary water. Thank you again Sir! For an almost $10 chicken sandwich, I was expecting it to be a bit bigger, but it wasn't. It was delicious though. Chicken was tender and juicy. Pickles were a nice addition. Sauce was tangy. Spicy level was perfect. As for the onion rings, it was a tad overcooked. I prefer the batter lighter than darker. It was still tasty though. Water is water. I would return here if their portions are bigger. I'm going to give them a pass for now. Thank you NHC!
