I'd define this as a gem of a hole in the wall. First off the place is kind of dirty and it kinda looks like a house. When it comes to the food though the quality is top notch. French Fries - crispy golden brown, perfectly seasoned (9/10) Hoagie Steak and Cheese Hot Sub - this is an absolute must get. The meat was a tad sweet and tangy but also had this good balance of salt. With the vegetables and cheese really makes this a complete sandwich. (10/10) Chicken Teriyaki Bowl - this is a standard bowl but honestly it was pretty tasty. Seemed like fresh chicken breast smothered in sauce. Basic but quality ingredients. (8/10) I live around the area and this is going to be my new goto sandwich place, it's that good. Small parking lot, hole in the wall dining area, delicious food. Come check it out!!

    Onion rings!

Got fried onion rings and a pastrami sandwich to share with a friend, the total came out to be $15 and was the perfect amount for 2 peoplr. The pastrami sandwich was a bit too salty for me but otherwise delicious. I love how thick the pastrami cuts are. The onion rings were super crispy and hot. Undersalted but balanced out the saltiness of the pastrami. For a Saturday lunch it was pretty empty so despite the small parking lot there was plenty of parking available. The decor inside seems dated and could use an upgrade. Staff is friendly and patient.

Hidden gem in El Monte. Don't let the outside fool you. Family owned sandwich shop that keeps its prices low. Don't go to Jersey mikes when you can come here. Better bread and more protein. Order your sandwiches to go for your next dodger game or sporting event

Good food. I ordered a cold sandwich which was delicious. Also a chicken teriyaki bowl. I really enjoyed them. They have very reasonable prices. I definitely go back to try different sandwiches.

Chicken teriyaki sandwich. Pretty solid choice

The sandwich equivalent of a dive bar. Small, pretty dated, but full of good stuff inside. Still the freshness and flavors of their sandwiches might surprise you. There's nothing artisan here. Gordon Ramsey doesn't work here part time. Instead, you'll get the kind of fresh quality sandwich you might get from mom's kitchen. Chicken teriyaki has big chunks of white meat chicken nestled atop cheese, shredded lettuce, onions, pickles and tomatoes. It's a good size and a fantastic value at about $7.99 for a foot long. I'd definitely stop by again. You should too

Jack's Sub was one of those places that I always passed by but never tried during the decades when I lived in El Monte. Wow, have I been missing out!! If you can only order one thing from here, the hoagie steak and cheese hot sub is the way to go. The marinated beef is soo good and reminds me of Korean BBQ short rib meat. The large order at $9.39 is such a deal! If the hoagie steak and cheese is off the menu, the teriyaki chicken hot sub ($7.99 for a large) is a good runner-up. The pieces of chicken are juicy and lean. The teriyaki sauce is delicious. But if the hoagie is there, sorry teriyaki chicken, I'd have to go with the hoagie instead, but you're not a bad second choice. BF and I have ordered a large side of fries ($3.59) to pair with the sandwich every time we've come. They fry it fresh after we order and it has the right combination of size, texture, and taste. We end up finishing the fries first before we even get to the sandwiches! They do close on Sundays, so make sure to get your hoagie sub fix on the other days of the week!

Called in my order and it was ready when I got there, which I appreciate. I ordered a big cheeseburger for my daughter. I didn't get a bite, but she basically inhaled the whole thing, so I'm gonna assume it did its job. I ordered a breakfast burrito with no potatoes, which in hindsight was 100% my fault. What I picked up was basically a flour tortilla taco with a couple dried pieces of bacon and a little cheddar rattling around inside. Not great. Pretty sure this burrito only makes sense with hash browns or potatoes holding it together. Lesson learned. Prices were fair, staff was genuinely nice, and luckily the burrito was under $10--so no real damage done. Was I disappointed? Yeah. Was I shocked? Not at all. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but if I needed a burger, was nearby, and everything else was closed, I'd have no problem stopping in. Sometimes you just need a burger spot, and this is one of those.

My sister was trying out Charlie's Tea in the same plaza due to their bogo deal and decided the try Macho Burger. We ordered the popcorn chicken, curly fries, and Taiwanese sausage. The popcorn chicken was more like chicken tender nuggets than the classic popcorn chicken but it was so crispy and yummy. The batter was not old at all and there was so much chicken for around $5.50. This is so much better than the cost of popcorn chicken at other establishments and it tastes good too. The sweet sausage was not a favorite of my sister but I liked it though it was a little fatty. I'm unsure if the price was $3.99 each or for 2 but the size of the sausage was not bad and I liked it. The fries were also decent and crispy. I liked how crunchy they were but I wish we ordered a spicy sauce to season them with. They weren't bad alone but were a little bland. They are just decent fries though and they stay crunchy after a while unlike McDonald's. I heard the parking situation was pretty abysmal but that's to be expected at these tiny plazas on Valley on a Saturday afternoon. Charlie's Tea also was having their bogo deal in the same plaza, but my sister had no problem parking at the adjacent TAWA plaza and walking over. We ordered take-out and I wasn't there so I'm unsure of the ambience and service, but I'm looking forward to trying out other options on the menu. It's definitely an affordable and delicious fried chicken based fast-food establishment that I would eat again.
