    Watery chili fries.
    Daigo C.

The chili flavor wasn't bad, but the watery chili destroyed the texture of the fries.

I've gotten at least a dozen sandwiches (and likely more) from Ike's over the years, and it was always my favorite local sandwich shop after they finally opened a location in the northeast side of LA. But I must say, as of late, their quality is really not the same as the past. I recently ordered a sandwich that came with mushrooms and it was barely cooked and mostly raw. Having raw mushrooms in a sandwich is really not it, and considering each sandwich here is about $16+ post tax and tip (yes I did tip), I think we can expect a little better quality, or at the very least, not having basically raw mushrooms in a sandwich. While they do have many sandwiches to choose from on such a vast menu, and everything is customizable (just with additional charges), it does feel like they'd do better if they nail down some of the details like making sure their cooked ingredients are actually cooked. All that said, the store is kept clean, there's some dine in tables as well as outdoor seating. The music indoors is kept loud, and the decor is very colorful and bold. Service feels like what you'd expect from employing recent high school or college students at their first jobs, but it's always been polite. Pictured: one of the many sandwiches I've consumed over the years from Ike's. This one attached happened to be from 2023.

Everyone here is always so hardworking and nice and this time they let me try their new special pork jowl and steak Banh mis that haven't come out yet. I also got their not to sweet, spiced, smooth Thai tea that had firm jellies in it and super silky custardy caramelly yummy flan. But anyways, the Banh mis had their iconic light crispity crunchity airy bread, crunchy fresh veggies, soy umami sauce, and creamy rich mayo and pate. The pork one had tender fragrant slices of meat while the beef one was super flavorful and perfectly sweet and savory. Overall this place is still pretty good. Trying it out for the second time and third time I i noticed this was a very very fat forward tasting and textured sandwich. Although I've only tried the crispy chicken, chicken, roast pork, and OG dac biet. All were really good... My only qualm would be the OG dac biet had crispy pork in it too. It made it extremely fatty when I'm used to that style being more cold cut and lean although fatty in its own way. Putting the crispy pork in it just threw me off and i realized it just wasn't my style. Then having the crispy pork again made me realize how genuinely fatty it really is and I couldn't wrap my head around eating anymore so I had to dig in and look for the lean parts and extract the fatty parts. Surprisingly it was about 80% fat so for those who love pork belly fat , this is for you! And I know a lot of folks out there love their pork belly extra fatty! Overall I give it 3 and 1/2 Stars mostly for the packaging and attention to detail and for their clean and very quick in and out type of well oiled machine of a business!

Walked in from the back into the patio, and noted a cute red car outside, & a nice fountain in the patio. Patio space seemed much bigger in person than from pics. You order & pay at the counter & they deliver the food to you. Very friendly staff, & when I said I had food allergies, he promptly put it in the order, which I appreciated. There's plenty of wine here, clearly a key selling point here! A nice variety on the breakfast and lunch menus. Decided to try their French Toast, and made it a combo with bacon & eggs. Very well presented, and the French toast tasted delicious, like a fluffy bread version of pancakes! My friends ordered an Eggs Benedict & omelet. A pleasant place for a nice breakfast or brunch! Only thing that bugged me was that there were a lot of emergency vehicles going by with very loud sirens. Made it difficult to talk over the sirens...then realized the patio wasn't enclosed in glass, lol. Will sit inside next time!!

I ordered the pesto panini (pesto, mozzarella, and tomato), which came out to over $17 for a simple sandwich with no sides ($4 more if you add chicken).
