When I showed up, the lady didn't know if the cake had been paid and had to call her boss to confirm even though I showed her my email receipt. So I had to wait there while she called her boss. I wish they had a better system so I didn't have to wait for her to call her boss. Also, the interior is dated - the interior could use a remodel. I placed an order for a smash cake for my 1yo birthday party 3 days in advance. I gave them a photo of colors I wanted on the cake (blue to white gradient); however, they just made the cake fully blue. It was a bit disappointing, but fine since I was going to add decorations to the cake myself. Surprisingly the blue did not stain my toddler's face (photos attached). It came off easily during bath time and it also didn't stain our white shirts! In addition, I ordered a full sheet cake for the guests and they loved it! The cake was not too sweet, very soft and not dry at all. The only thing I want to note is that I requested no kiwi/cantaloupe on the sheet cake since we have people with allergies. I double confirmed it when they called 2 days prior to pickup, but the baker still decided to add a few kiwi and cantaloupe pieces ontop of the cake anyways. I ordered 75 fruit tarts and a quarter crispy sheet cake from Olympic bakery. They have the option to order online, but I called in the order instead. William, who I believe is the owner(?), was kind and assisted me with my order. The order required a 50% deposit beforehand and the rest paid at the time of pickup. The fruit tarts were pretty good, although the crust could be better as it felt a little underbaked and doughy. They actually tasted better the following day after the crust had a chance to absorb moisture from the custard. Presentation looked nice, although the fruits weren't very sweet. Quite possibly one of the best mango cakes in SGV! It was hubby's birthday and he loves the light angel cake with a good ratio of frosting to cake. I was going to get a small cake slice but luckily Olympic Bakery had a fresh batch of mango cakes available as I walked in. The owners were super helpful and even included a happy birthday sign. They were really friendly and sweet. The cake tasted amazing. Very light and packed with fresh mango chunks and slices. The frosting wasn't too heavy. Honestly, I've driven past this place so many times and never noticed it until we stopped to shop at Super A next door. It's a super unassuming, small bakery, but it's clearly a local favorite because it was pretty busy when we walked in! They specialize in sponge cakes, and the shelves are fully stocked with all different kinds. We tried a few things, but the standout was definitely the Grenade Cake. It's got this great crispy top that gives it a nice texture which is definitely unique. We also picked up an ube sponge cake. It was incredibly fluffy and light, and the flavor was spot on. I called again a few minutes after, asking if I add cream/frosting, how much would it be? The man that picked up the phone said "it will be an extra $20 with some fruits and frosting on top". Fast forward to yesterday when my family member picked up the cake , they made my cake sesame WITHOUT the crispy layers, and no fruits inside, with cream and fruit on top. Of course it costs $50! WTH!? They said I could reject the cake, but since it's so last minute, I couldn't find another cake for my daughter. She was disappointed with the cake because she loves the crispy layers. Always love their mango cake. Long time ago, they used to supply those to a few HK cafe. Just ordered a 8 inches on the phone and ask if it possible to get it for the same day. They answered yes. So I drove over a few hours later to pick it up. They don't have a lot of cake on display at all. So I think that you would need to call ahead if you want a cake. Surprisingly little choice of pastry. But I went in late morning and probably not the right time for their freshest bread. I asked about their little fruit tart (which I always like but don't see it anyway). The lady told me that they are still making it. My family has been getting Mango Cake from this establishment for years and the quality has remained consistent. The bakery sells an array of baked Asian goods. Hot dog buns, Pork Buns, Pineapple Buns, sponge cakes and my favorite - mini hot dog buns. They have Taro, Sesame, Strawberry, Pandan, Coffee, and my absolute favorite - Mango Cake. It's frustrating to see a menu of 40 different milk teas at all these popular spot. From what I see from Olympic they only have a choice of milk tea and Thai tea! I'm a bit nostalgic and "back in my day" those were pretty much the only options. Icing on this cake (pun completely intended), I tried the the regular milk tea with boba and it was a blast from the past! Tasted amazing like the way they use to make it in the late 90s! I highly recommend it! Also, boba was super affordable compared to competitors less than $7 AND (but wait, there's more) It's buy one get one free for the season (I assume summer). (Would call ahead of time to check availability) Atmosphere was mediocre. While it isn't really a "hang out" haha I felt it could use some sprucing up, wall art, and maybe some ambient music. I pre-ordered a 6" round mango cake for my mother's 75th birthday. Met the owner the day I ordered the cake and had a wonderful conversation with him about the history of the bakery and his journey of being a baker. He was extremely kind. All cakes are made the morning of, and there are normally no pre-made cakes in the bakery for those last minute people as the owner says can be wasteful if they are not sold by the end of the day. He definitely takes pride in his cakes and it shows. The cake came with a little "happy birthday" insert, two candles, and a plastic cake knife (which are normally for sale or have to ask for these items at other bakeries). The sponge cake was moist, and the mango was sweet (but not too sweet!). Mangoes definitely vary depending on the season, so keep that in mind. Overall, I will definitely order more cakes from here again. I see that they have durian cake, and really want to try that (we are a durian cake family). read more

Olympic Bakery is a bit hidden as they are in the same shopping center off Rosemead as Super8 and the new Great Wall Supermarket and Chuze Fitness (which used to be the defunkt K-Mart). They have many of the same Taiwanese pastries / breads (i.e. sponge cakes, bolo breads) that you'd expect from a Taiwanese bakery so check out my pics and give them a try when you're in Temple City. We also ordered two cakes on this visit and we worked with William (owner) who was very friendly and can pretty much bake any cake that you want. Ordered 3/8 sheet with fresh strawberry filling for a Fairy First Birthday party. They made the cake exactly as per my request: blueberries and kiwi only along the edges. We wanted to decorate the rest of the cake ourselves in keeping with the woodland fairy theme. Not only did guests rave about the pretty cake, they loved how fresh and light the cake tasted.
