Nobody does it quite like Karena. I met her 4-5 years ago…read morewhen I desperately needed a cake for graduation and she not only made the cake in a two days notice, she completely blew my mind! If I didn't move to San Diego, she would still be my consistent cake lady. I absolutely love her! When I first ordered, she had followed-up asking if the cakes were up to par with the taste and if they lasted well. I had to say, not only was it pretty to look at - it didn't taste bad either! Usually it's a sacrifice for one or the other! I've ordered over 6+ cakes with her and will definitely continue whenever I'm in the area. The amount of buttercream flavoring choices and real fruit used inside the cake... you really can't go wrong if you order from Karena!

We ordered the black sesame cake for my wife's bday. Overall, great presentation, good taste, easy pickup. The cake was fluffy, the cream was light , not overly sweet, and well balanced by nuts and raisins. Maybe the nuts and raisins were a bit over (some might argue it was too much texture). Will definitely be back to try other flavors

I got peach guava and it was refreshing and light, not overly sweet like a lot of birthday cakes tend to be. I also loved the utensils that came with it and the whole unboxing experience. It felt like a lot of thought went into the packaging, not just the cake itself. Only issue is the price is kind of pricey, but it also makes sense given the quality. Not sure if its just me, but the sizing seemed like it could feed more than the selected count, especially if youre a small eater. You can tell this cake is well made and meant for special, unique moments. Would order again for another celebration.

Super excited because the mini fruit tarts are going to look amazing on my newly purchased dessert tray! I was feeling a bit sleepy so I decided to fuel up & eat breakfast while I was there. I ordered a Vanilla Latte & a side order of 3 eggs + Sausage Links. If you're a big eater and want the additional potatoes and pancakes, I recommend paying a few dollars more and ordering the Breakfast platter. The Vanilla Latte came in a paper cup (a bit bummed out by not being able to take a more IG worthy picture of that), but it actually tasted really good! Same with the sausage links - it was probably one of the best tasting ones I've had for breakfast in a while. Aside from their wide selection of pastries and food options, their customer service was phenomenal. Every customer that walked through the door was greeted upon arrival and thanked on their way out. The restaurant was very clean and the cakes looked so beautiful behind the glass case. I had a pleasant experience today at Merengue Bakery & Cafe and can't wait to come back soon to try a slice of their chocolate cake!
