This place is bomb!!!! Not sure how it's rated so low. I called to ask what cakes they have that are ready to pick up that day. They said strawberry, chocolate, mango, tiramisu. We wanted the cake with half strawberry and half taro filling though and they said they can custom make it WITHIN 2 HOURS!!! I called at 9am and the cake was ready for pick up at 11:45am! The cake was amazing. Not too heavy, perfect sweetness and fluff. The decoration was simple yet nice (blue flowers). It was a pretty big 8" cake for $32. Customer service and taste both were amazing. To my disbelief, upon opening the pack, I discovered that some of the buns were covered in unmistakable mold. It was an unpleasant sight, and the foul odor that emanated from them confirmed my suspicions. I immediately contacted Amor Bakery to express my concerns and request a refund. The response I received from their customer service was nothing short of shocking. Instead of acknowledging their mistake and offering a prompt resolution, they insisted that the mold on the buns was harmless and that they were still fit for consumption. I was taken aback by their indifference towards my concerns and their refusal to address the issue appropriately. I asked for a refund and they called the cops lol, even after looking at the green and black mold on the baked goods she said it was "good to eat and made today" and I asked her to take a bite and ill accept my molded goods, but she even refused to take a bite! cuz she knew those items was a present to the hospital or dead. watch out for your kids from these nasty people. read more

I've been ordering their cakes for years for my mom's birthday. My mom prefers more asian, chinese cakes in comparison to other bakeries where their cakes are usually more dense/heavy. They have durian and taro flavored cakes and they can do custom half and half as well. I just love these Asian bakeries especially amor bakery!!! I needed to pick up our cake from amor bakery but had to park curbside because my child was napping in the car. I pulled up on the sidewalk in front of the bakery and asked if they would mind bringing the cake to my car. This Asian lady brings the cake out without any questions. Knocked on my window to unlock my car door and proceeded to move everything off my passenger floor to find a perfect space for the cake! She didn't say anything about if she could make space or anything. I didn't even pay for the cake yet. She is efficient and so helpful. Such great service here. I was communicating with Tommy for a custom cake. I told him I might need to postpone the party. He was very understanding and easygoing. The cake turned out beautiful. This bakery has been my family's go-to bakery for ordering birthday cakes for the past few years. We've had the bakery on our radar ever since we noticed the cakes while we were waiting for pho at the shop next door. While there doesn't seem to be much foot traffic, I do think they get a steady stream of customers ordering cakes. We recently ordered a mango cake for my parents' anniversary during the stay-at-home orders. Most other bakeries are unfortunately closed or no longer selling cakes, so we were lucky and happy to find out that Amor was still taking orders for cakes. I do believe that their most popular cake is the mango. If you look through their photos, it seems like most customers also order this particular cake - and I can see why! They take slices of the mango and curl it into a funnel-type shape, making the height of the cake much taller and giving it a much more aesthetic look. We ordered the 6" for $25. I believe 8" is almost ten dollars more. The mango used does seem to be fresh, with slices encompassing the round cake as well. I thought the cake was light and soft - not too sweet. Mango slices were a little on the rawer side so it wasn't the sweetest; the strawberries weren't too sweet either. I think if they had a bit more cream inside the cake, it would have been a better ratio of cake to cream. My sister also orders her cakes from Amor. She likes the plainest cake - fruit cake with flowers on top for decoration. An 8" is only $22, which I think is a very good deal. The cake, again, is soft and fluffy and there always is a good amount of cream included. She can request for certain colored roses on the cake, and sometimes the flowers do have a tinge of artificialness, but it's not too noticeable. I believe this is the second or third time we've ordered her birthday cake from this bakery and it's always consistently good. Amor is a mom and pop shop bakery; we usually place our cake order over the phone and schedule a pick-up day. The bakery is located in the Pho Pasteur and Rosemead Supermarket. **BEWARE AND DO NOT COME HERE** There should be a zero or a flag option on Yelp for businesses like this. We bought several pieces of chocolate and tiramisu cake on Saturday and when we went to eat it, they all had mold on it. My daughter ate a piece and got sick. She's too young to know what mold looks like and we didn't think to check for mold. EVERY single piece had mold on it. We went back to the store the next morning (Sunday) to confront them. The lady behind the counter with the glasses (black frames) reacted by smiling, thinking this is not a big deal. She even ate the piece we returned. Yes, she took a pinch and ATE the mold fill cake. She nodded and agreed that it was bad. We were so shocked by what we just witness. I told her this cake must have been here for a week because the mold was so bad and all over. She proceeded to tell us that the cakes were just changed this morning (Sunday) so they are fresh now." She said, "We change them today for the week." This means that the cake we bought sat for a week. She agreed with that and there's nothing wrong. Like it's their normal. Why am I surprised when she ate the molded cake that we brought back? I asked her if she would feed this to her mom or child- and that the mold can cause people to get sick and even go to the hospital. She didn't seem to care, started to ignore us, and walked to the back bakery area to avoid our questions. This is not right and a bakery like this shouldn't be open. The health department, inspectors, etc. really need to look at this bakery. I then read previous reviewers on Yelp about mold filled pastries from here and it's the truth!!! My family and I had been loyal customers and have come here for years for birthday cakes and sometimes their baked goods. Once in a while the lady would be unpleasant but nothing that really bothered us. Today, I went to pick up a cake and wrote down what I wanted written. The lady straight off was not pleasant and suggested I change my writing. Confirmed with her what to write, and she still messed it up. When I asked her what the symbol she drew was she was very rude and aggressive stating "it's the & symbol you wrote on the paper " mind you what she wrote looked like a Chinese character and im like why would yiu write & between name and age? What she recommended verbally and showed me on cake was very different from what was written. I kindly asked her to fix it, which she did but did a horrible job and left two spots un smooth as if we poked at the cake and said, "There fixed." At this point, I was like ok that's fine, ring me up. Still polite and respectful to her. She goes to ring up my card and complains why the machine is taking forever. This was where things took a turn. She acted like I was an inconvenience to her and proceeded to ask me, "Do you have money on the card?" I respectfully said yes. She keeps pushing buttons on the machine, then I see her swipe my card again, then ask me, "Did you use your card today?" I respectfully said yes earlier today at noon to buy lunch, and this has never happened. Then rudely yells at me "Ahhh that's why because you already used your card!!" I quickly checked my online banking and see she's charged me twice with no void/reversal charge and tell her. She becomes defensive, yells at me, then goes back to the card machine, pushes a few more buttons on the machine, some reciept prints out than whole holding onto my card still proceeded to talk down to me, was condescending, disrespectful, and yelled at me saying she knew what she was doing and to challenge my bank for the transactions bc reciept said void. Mind you 1 void reciept that doesn't clarify which transaction was voided. At this point, I was like ok I'm done, but I can't leave because she's still holding on to my card. I asked for my card back and the reciept printout that states whatever was voided. She continued with the negative attitude and horrible customer service. I was frustrated and gave her another card to run so I could get my original back. Runs the card, it goes through gives me everything back with both reciepts than opens her register and to grab all her credit slips and gestures it in my face saying she had no issues all morning, claims to understand and can read English (while I'm speaking to her in Vietnamese), and continued to belittled and talked down to me while going on about if bank doesn't void I must bring reciept back and she'll refund me. I'm sorry but this was the worst customer service ever. If she didn't hold my card hostage I would have left the cake and left. She was still mouthing off as I walked out the door. Got back to my car and finally saw 2 reversal charges a few mins after the original charges. Keep in mind that when i originally checked and saw the two charges, it wasn't there. I'm sorry but I can't say I would come back after this experience. Tried to give the lady a pass because maybe she was having a bad day, but to continue to belittled, disrespect, and yell at me when I never once raised my voice or yelled back was un called for. What's even worse is that the top custards are fine just the bottom crusts are molded, which means they probably use the dead-stock / old material only for the part that customers are less likely to notice, just to save a couple of cents. This very spot was where I got to experience my first all mango cake! You've gotta try it! It's delicious, moist and the mangos are soo fresh! I'm not sure when they're in season but you can call and ask the friendly workers. We'd have this cake maybe 3 times a year for birthdays at the office and it's delicious every single time. When we started looking for our wedding cake, we looked all over Yelp to find some good vendors. We wanted to make sure to provide a quality cake as well as one that fits our budget. For those who are looking for a cake made by legendary pastry chef Jean Phillippe of Hell's Kitchen fame, please stop reading here and find a different place for your needs. This bakery creates the best budget wedding cakes in SGV. There are several variations that are consistent among most of the wedding cake configurations: A. Cream type - Butter cream: a more dense and sugary cream - Whip cream - Fondant: hardened cream useful for creating elaborate cake decorations B. Cake type - White sponge cake - Yellow cake: usually more yolky and buttery C. Fillings - Usually peach or strawberry with whip cream At Amor Bakery, we were able to try all three different types of cream. They only had white sponge cake. They offered peach or strawberry as fillings, with an option to have both fillings on request or different fruit layers on each tier of the cake. After tasting and figuring out exactly what we wanted, we were given a book to look at cake designs. We settled on a 4 tiered cake enough to serve 120 guests. Although the cake had some decorations on it, we had our own ideas. Without extensive decoration by Amor Bakery on our own request, the total cost became $200. We ended up providing our own ribbon for the bakers to place onto our cake and had a few simple decorations. They also charged us a $20 deposit for the cake stand, which we returned the next day. Delivery was free because our wedding was at the San Gabriel Hilton and within distance. I believe delivery if needed was also pretty cheap if they did have to travel a distance. I highly suggest a cake with flowers placed by your florist on it! Our cake turned out really pretty and within our budget. I must stress again that this is a BUDGET cake. If you are coming in thinking that your wedding cake will be gourmet in any way, you may be disappointed. For contrast, we asked around some other Chinese style bakeries like Diamond Bakery in the 168 Market Plaza on Las Tunas ($350-380ish) or D'Ange Bakery ($450 + delivery fee) or Porto's Bakery ($450 for no fruit fillings and free delivery with order of hor'dourves). For $200 and free delivery, sign me up! The only issue we had with the cake is that the strawberry filling was a bit sour that day. I came here looking for a birthday cake. There's not a be selection of ready made cakes cause supposedly they specialize in wedding cakes.
